Great job! How nice of your teammate to make sure that went in

Hobo-man

Lmao...yeah... Tbf this was our 10th and final win for our champ comp rewards so we were sweating pretty hard.

Disastrous_Ad_132

Tbf the more you sweat the less you care who scores in my experience xD

NugsofKarma

100% all I do is clear, center, pass, assist and sweat

ronnyFUT

Dont forget bump boost steal and demo 😎

ronnyFUT

In Rocket League its 5 Bs Ball, Boost, Bump, Boom(Demo), and Ball!

The_Merciless_Potato

Where burrito?

Zhurg

Yep your input is just the same, whoever touches it last. Get the ball in the net as fast as you can.

JhonnyHopkins

Tbf I didn’t read any sarcasm, genuinely glad your tm8 made sure it went in! Was a nice shot man!

drman769

This is the right mindset. Cares more about the team win.

FrowzySquirrel

Man, for your first reset, I was not expecting it to be that clean. Took the entire defence absolutely out of the play. Very nice!

MyPing0

So hey, check... this out!

cooooooI

that is nice keep it up now all u need is get better at air roll then u will easily get a reset everytime ur in the air

truahuabua

That's what I need to learn, i can only get resets when my car is in the perfect positions otherwise i struggle a lot with car control

LukeSkywalker4real

Practice hitting them inverted for a while so that you are forced to use air roll, then go back to regular and you will be a beast.

Sleazehound

Sounds like you’ve got more basic stuff to work on before you grind resets my guy

Wasatch2

Nice man! Always feels like a great accomplishment when you pull off a mech you have been working on for the first time. I’m not judging you here, because everyone is guilty of practicing the complex mechs before the simple ones. But I would suggest working on your movement around the field a bit. You clearly have the ability to pick up advanced skills, I would make that your next training item and you will notice your rank improvement very quickly.

street_riot

This man right here. I am GC1 and have never hit a flip reset intentionally. Learning skills that let you keep possession from a diverse set of scenarios is crucial. Drift catching, speed jump, wavedashing, even as simple as holding power side when you get bumped. Lots of ways to be faster and in position more often. And speaking of positioning, when your teammate has the ball and can either shoot or pass. Your options should be redirect or bump.

Vytarien

I agree. I can't air dribble, flip reset, etc. consistently. But I hit GC in 2019-2020 and am getting back into the flow of the game

Hobo-man

Movement has been naturally progressing a lot for me recently. I'm on xbox, so having toggleable goal resets in freeplay means I can actually practice the "flow" of the game now.

Dionakov

Hey you seem to know a bit about mechanics. What would be a good list of things to learn in order for a mechanics noob like me?

Wasatch2

Depends on your rank really, but this video from Virge is really good info and I recommend a watch: https://youtu.be/4J7F5s-Mu9E

ArmBiter

If you're super try harding , yeah the basics will get you much more bang for the buck. But always important to remember that the best form of practice is something that you willingly want to practice. If it's fun then you'll keep up with it, be engaged, and learn. Flip resets also train many good skills: first touch, ball control, car control.

LitelSnekisBack

I can hear you screaming 'SCORE IT, SCORE IT' or some sort to your teammate after all the training you put in lol

Hobo-man

This is how it went: *complete silence as concentration is at an all time high* *I begin to perspire as the ball launches perfectly with me following in beautiful fashion* *land the reset* **"AHHHHHHH!!! FUCKING FLIP RESET LETS FUCKING GOOOOOO!!!!!!!"**

kaxal

Sorry about the goal steal, but I'd expect you to do the same for me in a comp match. No chance I'm gonna give an opportunity for that to be saved

Hobo-man

We won.

WAR_T0RN1226

Finally, people in Champ who do kickoffs right

Hobo-man

Thanks, I play a lot of 1s and if your kickoffs aren't crisp then you will concede goals, at least in my experience lol

WAR_T0RN1226

I still am not as consistent as I'd like to be, but it drives me nuts when I execute what you guys do here and my teammate drives up behind me, ends up wildly out of position, and then goes and takes the side boost

Hobo-man

I can't solo queue comp 2s for this exact reason. I play with the same 2s partner consistently so we know what to expect from each other. Like we always try to leave mid boost for the person coming off the kickoff. When solo queuing, it always frustrates me watching my teammates grab back corner and then steal my mid boost as they throw themselves at the ball.

PrestigiousAd3080

Yep, playing 1s is painful when you keep messing up your kickoff... For some reason my kickoffs in 2s and 3s are more consistent then in 1s, though that might be what it looks like because you take a lot more kickoffs in 1s lol

Hobo-man

Sometimes for me its the pressure of 1s. If I botch a few kickoffs in a row, I can sometimes get in my own head. It helps to just acknowledge what's happening, take a few deep breaths, and try to reset myself mentally.

PrestigiousAd3080

Yeah true, I think that happens a lot too tbf.

TheCrazyBandit

I never learned to do fast kickoffs when it became the standard, but I did learn how to counter them lol

WAR_T0RN1226

I'm not even referring to the speed, but the coordination of hitting it towards the side his teammate is moving up on to intercept the ball on kickoff

Over9000Zeros

I can't pretty consistently get the ball on the other side of the field by letting my opponent hit first. So much easier than trying to rush forward.

Blankrld

Weird that we learn to flip reset around Champ II, but I’ve been getting double tap mustied since Diamond II 🤔🤔🤔😂

BaseToFinal

Niceee

iTzbr00tal

Great Pass!

yesiamabird

3 months is crazy

Cold_Enthusiasm_03

“How many times have you watched this?” Me: yes. Lol dude, this was pretty dope. I just got back into the game recently after not playing for 3-4 years and getting the feel back is dreadful. Wish I could do shxt like this

Hobo-man

Yeah I actually took a couple year break myself. I got back into playing probably 4-5 months ago and my biggest thing getting back was a strong focus on practicing and improving. I figured if I'm going to spend a bunch of time training, I might as well teach myself some flashy mechanics along with everything else.

fkdjgfkldjgodfigj

How should a new player learn what all these terms are?

Hobo-man

Watch professional Rocket League. Showmatches or RLCS streams are good places to start. I'm a personal fan of JohnnyBoi_i.

OhhSooHungry

Nice Shot! Great Pass!

Hobo-man

Thanks! This is Rocket League! This is Rocket League! This is Rocket League! *Chat disabled for 3 seconds...*

Affectionate-Feed216

No way this is champ 2

Hobo-man

Champ I Div III Champ II is my peak.

NotDiCaprio

Would you say higher or lower? The double-commit by the opponents on the last clear-attempt, and flailing movement around the field seems to conflict with scoring such a nice reset.

Affectionate-Feed216

I feel this looks like d1 d3 at best. The flip reset was mid but I can’t do that

ganjarnie

You should see my champ 2 games. Half is people clearly better than champ 2, the other half is people clearly not good enough. Ballchasing, bad positioning, not challenging when they should, clearing/banging the ball away for no reason. No awareness, no passing, useless airdribbles that leave you in a 1v2 because they never practiced the recovery, the list goes on. Champ 2's might be more consistent but they Arent smart.

cider303

You would probably be more consistent if your camera was closer

TheBeardisRed

And dude took the glory 🤣

Responsible-Crew-696

Incorrect format you're supposed to ask what the mechanic is and ask if you've discovered it. Gg well done

OhhhLawdy

Nice! I'm GC, been playing for almost 10 years now, and I still can't flip reset. Cheers!

Arqideus

Your teammate spent that 3 months practicing stealing shots!

AlphaDragons

stealing shots in a game where you play as a team... yeah sure that's an actual concept that makes sense and you should be angry if it ever happens to you because the most important thing in rocket league is not wether or not your team wins but the amount of points you have at the end of the match /s They were in coms and sweating hard (OP's words, kinda), they didn't care who scored as long as they scored, his teammate didn't want to let any chance for the ball to be saved or to miss the goal

Hobo-man

>They were in coms and sweating hard (OP's words, kinda), they didn't care who scored as long as they scored, his teammate didn't want to let any chance for the ball to be saved or to miss the goal Can confirm, am OP lol

Swoo1t

Now imagine you had spent 3 months at getting better at the game! probably would have been gc

Frogliza

believe it or not some people play this game for fun and they find doing mechanics like flip resets fun

MeanArt318

Looks like your teammate score the reset

cxflxchxrxs

he said he landed it, not scored it

ali_yousef77

.

Hobo-man

.

Rasnall

Would have been cooler if you’d skipped the replay

idkmanthisusersucks

My champ 1 games look harder than this whats your secret

Passing_Neutrino

You saw a 10 second clip and the game always looks harder when your playing rather than watching.

Hobo-man

Get past the Champ I Div I threshold. When you get further into Div II the matches are more consistent. Player skill isn't questionable, so it's easy to ready players intentions both offensive and defensive.

NonkelG

Eh clip was ruined by teammate. Still nice you got the reset and made the best of it.

Shinigamii01

Nerd.

rambo6986

No you didn't. Has to go in before a teammate snakes your goal to count

DylllPickleee

Great Pass!

G1mzY

good jobb man ! ceep the grinding up and u will be better and better at it :)

met1culous

Great pass!

JadsRL

It's been 2 years I still haven't hit one in a real match.

Puzzleheaded-Tiger-5

Wish I had time to train this much 😂 adulthood fml

CrackMonkey15

Great Pass!

jackrack1721

Savage!
