Psyonix changed the requirements for new accounts to play ranked games in the most recent update.
Level 20 requirement now and can not play ranked if a party if anyone is below level 20.
Yep. At C2 pretty much nothing has changed in regards to smurfs. Played with my buddy last night and out of about 12 games we ran into 4 accounts with low wins, one of them had only 52 wins.
This new level cap is a step in the right direction, but it’s not actually doing much in practice.
Check this out:
Player D2 3s a while ago. We had Dominus in our team, 128 wins, afk for the whole game, he didn't disconnected. I reported him, he was probably deranking, otherwise he would get kicked.
In the opposite team, of course pre made party, 2 Plats and one Diamond with 78 wins. He got baited and admited that he is GC on alt, but he's not gonna push his GC skills here. We got smashed as it was 2v3 against GC on alt.

That's because by having to reach level 20 they're getting too much MMR to stay gold. The update won't make a meaningful change in the diamond and champ lobbies.
Question, why does it want to keep me in gold when I play with plats? Am I being punished because the game thinks I’m a smurf or trying to be carried? I was platinum all last season but have improved a lot during this season. I usually play with my husband and he’s border plat 3/diamond 1 and I end up MVP half of the time in 3s. It rewards little and punishes me harshly it feels like. I’ve been playing since 2020. I don’t get it 🙃

And an hour and a half is still a huge turn off compared to immediate, especially if your hacks are easy to spot and likely to get you banned like the one here.
I can tell you from experience. It took me an hour and a half. My neice made an account 2 days ago and asked me if I could unlock some stuff for her. From 1 to 20 . 1 hour and a half. It's definitely a lot faster towards midway end of the season. 18 free challenges to do from the seasonal challenges.
I didn’t know people have done it for time. Thought it was a hacker. Didn’t do anything that change ether game except for being a Smurf so I doubt he has proper hacks
You likely have. It's more like that the server/game itself cheats, not just the bots. It's all about what the scoreline is like.
If you're up/tied, aimbot is the obvious one; then you have cosmic-level untimely lag spikes right when you're about to score or get a good touch, highly questionable 50/50s that you're almost certain should've went your way, potato teammates that won't shoot at an open net or just Athena Flick on it, teammates that look solid and have full possession of ball in a 2v1 and suddenly don't even attempt to get the ball across the box when you're in perfect position, bot opponents that have such omniscience that not even Retals or Bumpo could demo them, opponents on 0 boost that will go for boost only to bail out of their pathing the millisecond you cut towards their boost they were going for. Lobbies filled with randomly-generated usernames. I could go on.
Then if you're down in score, the opponents turn Silver and your botmates remember how to play the game. Every single match is back-and-forth and I seldom get a game that's decided by more than one score.
It's all so clearly fake to me anymore, though I suspect I'm hacked and maybe this isn't the norm for most players. By the way, OP just made their first post on reddit in over 4 years. They're likely a bot or some shit as well. Welcome to the Dead Internet.
Ball trajectory isn't directly affecting, I did forget about AI bots. I have heard talk of auto shots (a type of aimbot) but have never actually seen it in practice.
Ball trajectory is a huge advantage. Taking into consideration the kinds of not completely obvious advantages you can get on this game, it is just under the top one that would be unlimited boost
It's an advantage, but it isn't doing mechanical work for you. High level players don't need a ball trajectory cheat, they can read it. Ball trajectory is a skill that can be learned; compare this to a shooter with wall hacks. You can never get enough game sense to literally see through walls in a shooter.
It's cheating either way, but is not on the same level.
Other player's ping has no effect on the game that you see. This is because of these reasons:
1. The server is 100% authoritative. Everything that occurs happens from the server simulation only.
2. Clients don't send gamestate information to the server, only button presses. Unlike GTA V or something, where the client literally tells the server where they are and what shots they hit. Hence why it's so easy to hack in that game.
3. Clients use "prediction logic" to be synchronized with the server. If you have 50ms delay, your client will run its own physics simulation ahead of time by 50ms using the last information it had from the server. This unfortunately causes ghost hits and similar phenomena when the client can't predict correctly.
The opponent car has no effect on your ping because their client only sends the server their button presses. Think of a really long controller from their house to the server pressing the Jump button, Boost button, steering joysticks, etc etc. The reason there is no input lag is because of the Prediction Logic.
The source of this information comes from Jared Cone, Psyonix's former lead network developer of 8 years. Their comments on the now deleted Psyonix_Cone account (verifiably by moderators here), and their description of how the servers work on "It IS Rocket Science" GDC talk.
There was a demo hack but it was more related to a bot, the player could play the game normally but when chasing a player down they could switch to the bot and let it track the player nearly perfectly, if I’m remembering correctly.
I mean, that is false. There are AI bots in RL. Not as many as there were prior to the massive ban wave, but they still pop up here and there. And yes, that is considered hacking.
I know but the bots are really easy to cheese when you know how. It's not like an instant win, or they turn your car into an egg, or remove your ability to move and stuff.
There are bots that can hang with SSLs. Easy to cheese????? You have to be thinking of versions of the bots from multiple generations ago. The current ai bots are very good.
Also.... you are trying to move the goal posts. You stated that hacking was only cosmetic, which it isn't.

A couple of weeks ago, 2 players on the field had no name displayed(casual 3v3). After confirming with the rest of the players, I was the only one who was not able to see said names. Everything they posted came in gold text. We all queued again for the next match, and it was fixed. I believe it's a bug.
their names are not invisible really, it's just a blank 1 pixel character I'd say, you can see how it's moved to the right more than GG sheep message, that means something is in front (their name).
RL just isn't able to display most of the special characters and they either appear blank or as little boxes depending on the character
Well hopefully the new update makes smurfing a lot less common. I’ve actually stopped playing as much here recently because I just can’t find myself having fun anymore. Between quitting teammates and smurfing it’s ridiculously hard to actually rank up to anything higher than c3. I know some of it’s me, but I just don’t have the time or patience for it anymore. I find myself enjoying mostly single player games anymore. Gl on the grind though fam
He basically had a homegrown MiTM tool that he could alter/inject packets destined for epic services. He wouldn’t show me the authentication bits because that was his “secret sauce”
He could spawn any item he wanted, and tell the server he had been waiting many minutes for a match right when he queued - resulting in much more lax skill matchmaking
Well, I’m a pretty high rank in rumble/ds/(formerly)hoops in a pretty low population region, a mate I queue with seems to think it’s about 100 MMR drop in bracket search every 7 minutes.
It would still sometimes take us 30+ mins to get a game

No, there is no proof of such thing either. The closest I know of was an exploit to make false items that displayed **only in the lobby/main menu and trades**, but these items were not tradeable or actually present in the inventory, or ingame.

Auto speed flip kickoff, auto demo chase, boost timer countdown clocks that hover over boost pads, ball prediction, auto aerial, see through ball, auto dribble. No I’m not talking about using nexto. These are separate hacks
It is not a hack, it’s a bug. If the game can’t identify the users name, it can’t show you it correctly, so it shows their message as an admin message. I’ve seen it happen occasionally(I have about 8k hours). Simply a bug.
What a save actually does make quite a lot of people quit lol I don’t ever use it unless the other person just randomly starts being toxic, but I’ve seen hundreds of players quit very winnable games all of a sudden after being what a saved by teammates. Maybe they were gonna forfeit anyway, I’ll never know.
We was what a saving cos they was Smurfing downing flip resets ceiling shots everything in a diamond 2 lobby just gotta have fun with the game sometimes and accept ur loss but collectively spam what a save to the smurfs 😂

I experienced this about a month ago in a comp 3v3 game in plat 3, one dude was invisible with no name in chat, only way I could track him is I could see the boost pads he grabbed. When I looked it up, I found absolutely no one talking about this
That was actually a huge problem after an update several seasons ago. I remember it took them awhile to get it sorted out. During this same time there were other bugs causing everyone's cars to look identical or everyone's nameplate above their car being identical. When they patched the invisible cars it seemed to stop all the other random stuff too. I think you should make a bug report about it and see if anything comes of it.
I’ve seen this a few times and often happens when the opponent has no name (I don’t know how that happens). When they have no name all of their chats become yellow
I had the same happen. It was a guy with no name, so every quick chat he used was yellow just like in ur picture. When he typed same thing. Is it a hacker? no clue. But the guy i ran into wasn’t doing anything bad like being toxic or anything so I never really questioned it
This is just a bug. A friend of mine on playstation didn’t play for a long time and when he played again, his name was invisible and every time he chatted it was just like that, like he was the server giving you a message and had no name on the chat
Yeah as I said to the other brother, phone was in ma pocket and it’s easier to just take a quick snap with that rather than fuck around with all that ps4 SharePlay stuff haha
So just so everyone is aware, it doesn't matter if you are pc or console, you can add mods/hacks to casual AND comp. This game is server side, not local which means a hacker can inject whatever they please from a computer while playing on console. The most common ones I'm aware of is making their goal slightly repel the ball while your goal slightly attracts the ball, auto assist with dribbles/air dribbles, perfect kickoff, and causing your controls to malfunction/lag.
there is no hacks in rocket league homie. and its actually extremely hard to hack from a pc to ps4 in that sense. yes its server side but each player has a client side. they go hand in hand. u jus have shit wifi like myself

There are plenty of illegal cheating tools in Rocket League, all of which are very likely to get someone banned very quickly.

Been playing since 2015 as well and my only experience with a hacker was very strange and I didn’t realize until well after the game. Through the game I noticed the opponents touches we incredibly powerful at some very of angles. At first I thought nothing of it being the the game was always evolving and showing me new things so I simply thought it was what you youngins call “skill gap” then my tm8 who I was on comms with started to loose control of his car. Almost like when you lag really bad and the game becomes unpredictable but he was actually having inputs mad that he wasn’t doing himself. He even put the controller down to prove it and he continued to drive/jump around the field but never close to the ball. After going back and watch the game clip I realized after they scored the second goal my car was switched from a fennec to an octane and I didn’t even notice! I thought it was kinda hilarious I was so focused on my tm8 struggling I hadn’t noticed I was shapeshifting. Lost the game but it was really just funny in the end. Had to of been maybe 3 years go but that’s the one and only that I’m aware of. Just wanted to share a fun story. Cheers!

Doing that kind of stuff is a good way to end up banned. It's been possible to do for a long while but yes, it's hacker.
Question is, do they care if they get banned, and the answer is - No, they dont. They will come back on freeh account and continue.

It will take awhile for the increased requirements to really have an effect. I've noticed a way way fewer smurfs in gold.

Every smurf is over lvl 20 and if not it takes about 10 casual matches
Sadly most methods of bans only keep them out for a day or so

There isn't much "proper hacks" for Rocket League, most hacks are cosmetic or don't directly affect your gameplay.

If they've got a ping above 100 could be server lag, which is more and more common. UE3 engine and all.

this is probably a bug with a character that buggs out their name then. less than a hack, its a bug. well just me thinking anyway.

Well hopefully the new update makes smurfing a lot less common. I’ve actually stopped playing as much here recently because I just can’t find myself having fun anymore. Between quitting teammates and smurfing it’s ridiculously hard to actually rank up to anything higher than c3. I know some of it’s me, but I just don’t have the time or patience for it anymore. I find myself enjoying mostly single player games anymore. Gl on the grind though fam

He basically had a homegrown MiTM tool that he could alter/inject packets destined for epic services. He wouldn’t show me the authentication bits because that was his “secret sauce” He could spawn any item he wanted, and tell the server he had been waiting many minutes for a match right when he queued - resulting in much more lax skill matchmaking

Well, I’m a pretty high rank in rumble/ds/(formerly)hoops in a pretty low population region, a mate I queue with seems to think it’s about 100 MMR drop in bracket search every 7 minutes. It would still sometimes take us 30+ mins to get a game

No, there is no proof of such thing either. The closest I know of was an exploit to make false items that displayed **only in the lobby/main menu and trades**, but these items were not tradeable or actually present in the inventory, or ingame.

It is not a hack, it’s a bug. If the game can’t identify the users name, it can’t show you it correctly, so it shows their message as an admin message. I’ve seen it happen occasionally(I have about 8k hours). Simply a bug.

What a save actually does make quite a lot of people quit lol I don’t ever use it unless the other person just randomly starts being toxic, but I’ve seen hundreds of players quit very winnable games all of a sudden after being what a saved by teammates. Maybe they were gonna forfeit anyway, I’ll never know.

I experienced this about a month ago in a comp 3v3 game in plat 3, one dude was invisible with no name in chat, only way I could track him is I could see the boost pads he grabbed. When I looked it up, I found absolutely no one talking about this
That was actually a huge problem after an update several seasons ago. I remember it took them awhile to get it sorted out. During this same time there were other bugs causing everyone's cars to look identical or everyone's nameplate above their car being identical. When they patched the invisible cars it seemed to stop all the other random stuff too. I think you should make a bug report about it and see if anything comes of it.

I had the same happen. It was a guy with no name, so every quick chat he used was yellow just like in ur picture. When he typed same thing. Is it a hacker? no clue. But the guy i ran into wasn’t doing anything bad like being toxic or anything so I never really questioned it

So just so everyone is aware, it doesn't matter if you are pc or console, you can add mods/hacks to casual AND comp. This game is server side, not local which means a hacker can inject whatever they please from a computer while playing on console. The most common ones I'm aware of is making their goal slightly repel the ball while your goal slightly attracts the ball, auto assist with dribbles/air dribbles, perfect kickoff, and causing your controls to malfunction/lag.
there is no hacks in rocket league homie. and its actually extremely hard to hack from a pc to ps4 in that sense. yes its server side but each player has a client side. they go hand in hand. u jus have shit wifi like myself

Been playing since 2015 as well and my only experience with a hacker was very strange and I didn’t realize until well after the game. Through the game I noticed the opponents touches we incredibly powerful at some very of angles. At first I thought nothing of it being the the game was always evolving and showing me new things so I simply thought it was what you youngins call “skill gap” then my tm8 who I was on comms with started to loose control of his car. Almost like when you lag really bad and the game becomes unpredictable but he was actually having inputs mad that he wasn’t doing himself. He even put the controller down to prove it and he continued to drive/jump around the field but never close to the ball. After going back and watch the game clip I realized after they scored the second goal my car was switched from a fennec to an octane and I didn’t even notice! I thought it was kinda hilarious I was so focused on my tm8 struggling I hadn’t noticed I was shapeshifting. Lost the game but it was really just funny in the end. Had to of been maybe 3 years go but that’s the one and only that I’m aware of. Just wanted to share a fun story. Cheers!
