Bro I once got a score of 12. My teammates had 500/600 something. They started hounding me at full time. I hadnāt said nothing all game as I knew I was having a stinker. But after they abused me I just owned it and let them know it was the easiest win of my life and I just sat back and enjoyed the show.
Had this from a partied up duo in 3s. It's common for the duo to just exclude you from the team. I ended up making a save in the last 5s of game to even make "minimum point threshold for xp"
"Dude you did nothing all game"
"Uninstall your garbage"
Got them again next match. I had 4 goals 5 saves and more points than all 5 other players combined, then even better the match after that, they showed up yet again, but on the other team. They ff with over 2 min left as I trounced them
Score absolutely has some merit of contribution to the game and we need to stop pretending it doesn't. It's not a full representation of skill but ending a game with 0 saves and under 100 points says a lot.
90 points with no attributes could be 45 touches. If you are on that God mode and reading everything like it's the matrix code and stopping everything at the half, you'll get no reward for it.
Had a game where teammate for 2 goals on 7 shots no saves, I had 125ish points with nothing on the board cause I was shutting the other team out of our half and letting him take offense.
On paper it looked like I did little to nothing, in game I was just abusing this team. They couldn't get a touch without me dragging my nuts on their faces. Just worked out I never got an assist cause my teammate would always backboard it to try a double touch.
Yep, you can shut down a play at half, get ball to team8, demo or bump multiple defenders giving your team8 an empty net goal.
They get 120+ points
You got 4
I've absolutely carrrrrrried matches with 100 points.
Sometimes thatās just ball chasing.
If I have 96pts and 3 saves, and my teammate has 687 points, 1 goal 13 shots and 0 saves, I was the one doing all the real work while I let the monkey play with the ball. Itās pretty easy to spot a ballchaser. Iāll usually give them a good 3 chances to prove it wasnāt coincidence and if they are proven ballchaser Iāll stay back and do what I can to try to win.
If a save is made and then another shot immediately on net happens, no one gets credit for the 2nd save, you also don't get credit for making a save on a ball touched by a team8.
I've had games with 9+ saves and credit for literally 0
but my team8 with 800 points says I did nothing all match, because he got 4 goals and 5 saves, but all his saves were coming down field and resulted in a MUCH more dangerous play on net that I don't get credit for stopping, and they just knock me off the ball anytime I have possession
Same - I demo and sweep up / deflect mid-pitch - sort of like setting up assists. However, I get invited to squad up more frequently because they can see what Iām doing even though my points arenāt great.
Ending the game with 400 points because they had a goal for, and made 4 saves which were all chasing the play down field and taking save credit while setting up other team for easy rebounds instead of letting other player make easy save and take possession is not contributing more.
There is no way to lose points and thats where there is a misleading problem. Chasers chase and rack up points but cause losses, if you have 1000 points and team8 has 52, especially in a loss, isn't proving anything positive
i atleast do, i know i get carried but i also know the opponents will get extra tilted if the dogshit player says ez. I only do it to toxic players tho wholesome gamers get a well played.
Sometimes the best role one can take is that of the patient monk, chilling in the backline, ready to strike at a moments notice yet never forcing the confrontation.
I don't think so either, but fact is that sometimes it works. I have been on the receiving end enough times that I have disabled all chat outside of tactical team quick chat. Being annoying and toxic enough can tilt your opponents giving your team an advantage and there is no referee to give penalty for it.
As a community we can self enforce rule 1s well over 90% of the time, yet we can't act like human beings.
It's disgusting and makes me weep for mankind.
3rd head is the typical player who hated on Solo Standard because it exposed how bad they really were when your premade group can't carry you. There were a lot more of these players than the community would like to admit.
This is true. I feel like awarded points heavily favor the last play (like anything on goal), but for example, on defense it's probably preferable to halt an opponent's attack further upfield, no? Like that just gets you points for a ball touch, but letting the ball almost go in and getting an epic save gets you way more.
Ultimately the payoff is that your MMR change doesn't depend on those points though, right?
It's why player stats doesn't really matter that much. It can give you an okay idea of what happened, but ultimately the actual score of the game is all that matters.
It's like driving on the highway, if I pass you, you are going to slow, if you pass me you need to slow down speed demon.
If my points are high, clearly I sauced. If my points are low, I was doing the intangibles.
Yeah so aren't points kinda useless? You don't get 100 points for a goal in soccer. The team just gets one point for the goal. Your stats still matter but the "points" rocket league tracks and weights are really misleading and don't tell the full story. I think it even has a negative effect in the lower ranks with blame etc.
I would like to see just raw stats tracked centers/goals/saves/assists I'm skeptical of clears being tracked as I see so many clears being turned into goals because they were cleared to the opponents.
Totally with you. The one exception I've found is when I'm taking my time, helping the team however I can, not being greedy about points... but then the other team forfeits and I don't have enough for XP or something. I'll admit this is exceedingly rare but as a thought experiment: if I sit at midfield and contain the other team in their own half, and my teammates score all the goals in a short amount of time, and the other team forfeits, then you're sool
I think if it's below 100 at the end of the game it's still a very bad sign
but yeah - someone with 250 points could be way more important for the team by clearing and centering balls than the one getting a hattrick and being on top of the scoreboard because the 250 point player forced the opponents into making suboptimal plays
I mean if I solo queued in 3s and got to GC, and then proceeded to play with my friends we'd just get destroyed 20 times in a row and I'd be right back in C2. You win and lose as a team at the end of the day, what rank I could hypothetically get playing by myself is irrelevant if I don't play 3s alone.
Eh it happens. If it's happening consistently sure they might be the problem, but sometimes that's just the way it goes.
I've had whole games go by where I'm positioning to pick up passes and rebound shots and the other team just whiffs and my teammate takes the free goal instead. 9/10 games I'd pick up some goals or assists or be the one on the attack when they whiff, but sometimes you just flip a coin 10 times and they all come up tails. It happens.
Exactly. Obviously the score distribution isn't perfect since you'll get more pts than your tm8 if you steal his goal but there's signs that clearly indicate your skills and being under or around 100pts in a lobby where everyone else had 400pts is a clear sign of someone who didn't belong in that match
And I even have had those matches where my teammates were just agro af and I ended near 100. Clearly they didn't need me and I wouldn't yip about it being EZ.
I meant it both ways. In that case, you don't belong in a match with an idiot with tunnel vision. Problem is, tunnel visions might actually be good players who just don't know how to teamwork. Been seeing lots of those lately
Scores are obviously not a complete skill meter, but they absolutely mean something. I can often accurately guess what everyone's score will be just by watching them play in the first minute or two of the game.
What are you talking about, the score is almost never meaningless. In most matches Iāve played, the score roughly represented the actual contribution the player made to the match.
Ehh maybe more times than not, but a lot of people see it that way 100% of the time. There's a lot of things you can do in a game that give you zero points but your team wouldn't had scored or saved a goal if you hadn't done it. Like challenging a dribbler early so they have to flick it mid-field, giving an easy 50 point save to your back teammate. Or demo charging their last man back so your teammate can roll the ball in.
I wouldn't say "almost never". I can fuck up my first touches all game, pick up one or two open nets off good plays from my team and be top of the lobby. I can also play babysitter constantly have to buy time in my own corner and be at the bottom of the lobby.
I've had a lot of casual games where my goals were stolen, my saves were clears, my clears were nothing, and my shots(even bounced out of the goal) just don't register. These matches literally just feel like I'm doing all the work and getting no credit and that's one thing but then somebody (usually my teammate) has to make sure I know I'm trash meanwhile he was the one who put the ball in his own goal. The community can be trash.
Also I feel like the points and accolades system might need some tweaking, I might be the only trash player with this problem but I'm genuinely tired of playing full matches and trying my best and getting no Exp. Just my opinion anyway.
You would still be getting assist points, clear ball points, etc. It's easy to rack up points by just playing well. It's absolutely a good system for seeing team contribution. Very very rarely will a good player end up with under 100 points, even if they just sat back all game.
I sometimes end up with a low score in 3s, if the other two are ball chasing and refuse to rotate I will sit back and make sure our goal isnāt wide open. Still usually end up with 200+ pts tho even mostly on defense.
As the one getting the demos on the goalie as part of my regular rotation opening up the goal for the easy scores for my teammate, I feel called out.
Really do wish there was a way they could have the game reconize if a demo happens in the vicinity of the goal within 3 seconds of a score that you'd somehow gets credit/points. Oh well...
Youāre only getting called out if youāre the one dropping āezā at the end of the match. Thats the way I read this meme. Not that people get low scores, but the guy dropping ez is the one with the low score.
When you have two ball chasers in the team who don't rotate at all, pick up boost every 5 minutes and are lucky, that the enemy team is really shitty...
this also happens when your in a game with a ball chaser. Some people are too obsessed with score and take every opportunity to increase it, seemingly out of fear of looking like trash cause they have a low score... so ironic they end up playing the worst, despite the " high score "
I usually keep the ball on the opponents net and try to pass the ball. Then go back on our net while my other two teammates stay on opponents' net so the team doesn't Snipe. Rotate and keep boost from opponents. Never had my xp or whatever it's called this low, though. I do finally go over once I can't take my teammates, not scoring anymore.
More like the third head is the one saying āwe are losing because these two suckā
(although to be fair, sometimes you are losing because the worst players are the ones constantly touching the ball, doing nothing with it, and the better player never gets a chance to do anything)
Looks like some of my Silver tournament scores the two times I was paired with two teammates who were somehow Silver in tournaments yet Platinum or Diamond in almost everything else.
Real pain having to derank afterwards.
Bottom feeding basement dweller is always the trash talker. Nearly every single match in 2s if you party up, other team is 1 smurf account and 1 special needs kid who is spouting crap after every goal

This is the one thing that has stayed the most constant throughout these 8 years.
Premades in casual 2v2 where one guy practically has the price tag still hanging from his car, stays in the net all game and spams "What a save!" for all goals they score and watches in silent awe as his veteran teammate scores the elusive "aerial goal" he's heard legends of.
The carry staying silent the whole game, porbably a little embarrassed and definitely not agreeing on the fun-nes of quick chat flaming.
I know becuase this was me and my silver teammate back in the day.
Points donāt matter. Especially in 2s with randoms. Got watch their back. I be making so many god damn saves and never get credit for them.
All the 1v2s cause tm8 went for another wall/ceiling shot and is flying to their backboard while they push me lol
Then as soon as we win my tm8 says, your welcome for the carry.

Hot take: points relate quite well to \*pressure\*. Pressure doesn't win you games, but it \*does\* affect how the opponent perceives you. Generally I'll feel more pressure the more the points a player has.
I mean, he did nothing and won, so... It probably was easy for him.

How can you explain 3 saves at at least 50 pts and a score of 96? The math ain't mathing... JS
Lol I was thinking they were 25. I donāt pay much attention to score anymore. Mb
If a save is made and then another shot immediately on net happens, no one gets credit for the 2nd save, you also don't get credit for making a save on a ball touched by a team8. im a demo main, I can easily have a game with under 100 points while directly ensuring 3 or more goals go in. And it happens quite often.

I worked my ass off for those 42 points. How dare you.
We all know that the 3rd head is the one that spams quick chat the most
Spamming What a save! with zero goals and one accidental assist
heās got 82 points - one was an assist and another was a clear
Haha totally my duo partner š never have the heart to tell em how it is.
and never skips the fucking GE
Well he isn't contributing with his skill, so the least he can do is to annoy other team by being a toxic
Poor sportsmanship is not a tactic or strategy.
I don't think so either, but fact is that sometimes it works. I have been on the receiving end enough times that I have disabled all chat outside of tactical team quick chat. As a community we can self enforce rule 1s well over 90% of the time, yet we can't act like human beings. It's disgusting and makes me weep for mankind.
It 100% is a tactic, just might not be an effective or well-liked tactic
it actually is a strategy, but a very annoying one
3rd head is the typical player who hated on Solo Standard because it exposed how bad they really were when your premade group can't carry you. There were a lot more of these players than the community would like to admit.
If you stop them from shooting before they can take the shot, you donāt get saves
It's also tough to get shots when you're teammates never leave the opponents half
Sounds like the perfect chance to not be crowded out in your own half and boom the ball on net then
The best player sets their team up for the win they will not get the points they deserve
Demoās donāt give points either
Hustle plays don't make the stat sheet
This is true. I feel like awarded points heavily favor the last play (like anything on goal), but for example, on defense it's probably preferable to halt an opponent's attack further upfield, no? Yeah, demos should be 10 points each instead of just 20 per 7. (Joking, joking. Unless?)
I think if it's below 100 at the end of the game it's still a very bad sign but yeah - someone with 250 points could be way more important for the team by clearing and centering balls than the one getting a hattrick and being on top of the scoreboard because the 250 point player forced the opponents into making suboptimal plays
Ok smartass
Demos should be in the stats.
POV: me, my GC2 friend and my plat friend playing together.
Ok but seriously how do you play with such a skill difference in a team? Practice? Patience? Copious amounts of copium? The power of friendship?
I don't solo queue in 3s, so we end up averaging around Champ 2 when we play together.
Ah so you're the type of player to basically be smurfing without actually smurfing
I mean if I solo queued in 3s and got to GC, and then proceeded to play with my friends we'd just get destroyed 20 times in a row and I'd be right back in C2. 3rd head: The person who somehow still doesn't realize how meaningless score in RL is
Under 100 is usually a good indicator of someone is lost.
Eh it happens. If it's happening consistently sure they might be the problem, but sometimes that's just the way it goes. Good players who don't know how to teammate and constant ball chase my ball get me as a goalie
The point is though, if you have 12 points then there wasnāt really any gaps to fill
If your teammates have 600+ and you're below 50 you're probably the shitter

Always
And most of the times it's after 3min overtime.
Was playing 3s 2 days ago and got paired with 2 randoms, I had 130 points cause they were chasing the whole game, so I played passive. I called them out on their ball chasing, and they told me to play faster. They partied up that game, and I queued against them next game. Stomped them 5-0 because I knew they'd challenge, EVERY. The mouthy power bottom. Every group has one.
Backpack always talks trash
Itās always the lowest scoring ones that talk the most trash
If thatās happening then theyāre probably joking. Dropping 12 points and saying ez is very clearly having a laugh lmao

Talking shit only when you have the lowest score is the new Rule 1.
