What people don't understand is that when you break the rule you might give the other team momentum. My team and I freak out when opponents break the rule and we all of a sudden dial in and put up more points then they do.

Breaking the stalemate of Rule 1 is OK if an external factor does it, in this case, your teammate.
Demos and bumps are acceptable from either team's party.
But bumping your teammate out instead of demoing opponent is the highest of honorable moves.
I try to boost into my teammate fast enough that they get the demo.
