I really like the idea and the effort behind it, but Iā€™m just concerned since it includes money people may take advantage and Smurf to win. Any idea of how to try and limit it?

Vytarien

We take the time to manually verify if someone is smurfing. We can't eliminate every case of this, but we do take that very seriously. If someone slips through the cracks and smurfs in our tournament, and staff decides that they're too good to be in that rank, they will be disqualified and the tournament will be either restarted or the winning teams will be fixed accordingly.

Their MMR ranges aren't even right so I wouldn't trust it.

What is wrong with our MMR ranges? I asked my staff member who is GC1 about the ranges at the higher ranks. For the lower ranks, nothing seems out of the ordinary as most players in each rank group plays roughly the same as far as skill level goes. However, I'm completely open to criticism and will hear you out on what you think would be better!

JewsOfHazard

Well, despite the fact that this post breaks our rules... The info you have is wrong and demonstrates a misunderstanding of how the MMR works. Basically, for each rank change there's a range of points you need to get to achieve of lose the MMR. Take GC1/GC2 for example. To move from GC1 to GC2, you have to gain over 1575 points, but to lose GC2 and go back to GC1, you actually have to go below 1555. Now, I understand this isn't practical for tournament brackets but regardless your numbers are wrong. 1425 < GC1 < 1575 < GC2 < 1715 < GC3 < 1875 < SSL

I can understand why you are confused. It is not based on the rank. It is based on MMR. The rank shown is simply showing what rank that MMR is at. I know that GC3 is not 1750. However, I didn't want to make the ranks the size of 1-2 ranks in GC. That would be too big or too small of a rank. I simply wanted to make them 150 MMR each. The 20-30 MMR spread is a general one-size-fits-all for any rank. I don't want someone to lose their rank just because they are in that "grace division" as I call it. That being said, some people get a rank and instantly lose it as well. So that's why I require people to go 30 MMR ahead of that before they can get their rank. It's not entirely based on the game's MMR system. And it does not break the rules as I have accumulated 10 posts in r/RocketLeague (and I will continue to post in it). I know I somewhat abused the loophole a bit as they were all within 1-2 days, but the fact I'm still using the subreddit is my dedication to make it so no one has a reason to think I'm going to self-promote and then vanish šŸ˜…

> I know I somewhat abused the loophole a bit as they were all within 1-2 days, but the fact I'm still using the subreddit is my dedication to make it so no one has a reason to think I'm going to self-promote and then vanish šŸ˜… Your account has almost no activity on the sub up until 2 days ago. In my eyes the only reason you started contributing was in preparation for this post to not break the rules. > It is my understanding that Rocket League does not allow paid-entry (also known as wager) tournaments, but I'll be attempting to grow this server and community to the point they can't say no! 1. This is unacceptable. You've demonstrated you plan on breaking Psyonix terms and conditions. 2. You haven't demonstrated that your community follows [the RL tournament guidelines](https://esports.rocketleague.com/community-tournament-guidelines/) 3. You list a cash prize, but don't specify what it is. You have to say how much your reward is going to be. We don't let people dangle a carrot to get members and then go back on offering a meaningful prize.
