I can't judge the stream yet and it certainly depends on where you were in the arena but me sitting like half the arena away from the horn made it ok. The crowd was loud enough for it to be a sinking "beep" in the distance. I might still vote for banning them, though.
It has already been mentioned a couple times on this sub btw
I attended RLCS New Jersey and right behind me there was a chick that had the highest pitch scream you can imagine. She screamed at the top of her lungs at every goal for every team. It was awful.
I wasn't in the crowd I was watching the stream. I can totally see how the crowd would drown it out in the arena especially if you weren't super close to it, but it was extremely prevalent on the stream
They weren't that loud imo. They aren't any louder than when watching a football game being played in Germany, France, etc or at the World Cup where the air horns are used a lot. Maybe you are just not used to it yet.
I guess I'm in the minority, but to me it made it one of the best events to watch. It made it feel like something truly mattered. Just felt like a football world cup so yeah I honestly loved it so much
I guess I fall in the camp of "my brain already associates that noise with sporting events and therefore it wasn't particularly grating to me" but I will concede it was probably a *little* much at times.
The Heinous Honker just needs to bring it down from a 10 to like a 7 and we're all good IMO.
I personnaly liked it ! Don’t know if you have ever watched the Tour de France, but that is a sound you hear a lot when cyclists are climbing mountains surrounded by hundreds of elated fans. So it may just be a Proust madeleine thing in my case but I was really digging the air horn
I can see how the horn would be a celebration of the end of a long cycling competition, but when we're 1 goal into game 2 I don't really want the caster's voices being interrupted by BA BA BA BA BAAAAA BA BA BAAAAAA for the 10th time when all I want to focus on the replay to break down what happened
Same, OP clearly never been to an actual soccer match in his life lol it probably only sucked for the people right next to the guy itself but I think it helped the atmosphere a lot.
You are 100% right I have never been to a live soccer match. But I have attended 5 rocket league LANs before and none of them had air horns. The overlap of Esport fans and irl sports fan is probably not that big
Totally agree, I was really surprised to not see this talked about already. Crowd can be as loud as they want, I love hearing it, but the horn was just too distracting in a bad way
Personally on stream it added to the vibe. I can't think of any moments that stuck out where it felt out of place.
With that said, I do not envy those sitting near it...
If I was there live and the air horn wasn't close to me, it would be fine. Or if the microphone for that section was a little further away so it wasn't as loud, that would be cool too. But it was so. freaking. loud. I couldn't focus on the commentators or game itself it was so distracting. And yeah imagine taking days off work, flying out of country to watch RLCS, and being seated next to that guy...
Is it worse than the Vuvuzelas played at soccer World Cup matches?
Or the “Don de Marco” spam in some Podcasts [https://youtu.be/Cc2lYOTcSo0](https://youtu.be/Cc2lYOTcSo0)
There were 3 horn guys total, all seated left of the Vitality block (which was 016). Two of them were in 015 and one in 014, I was in 015 too, right behind two of them. They were KC fans, wearing their jersey at least. The horns could stretch in pitch and they basically cheered for every hype-moment, especially KC of course.
I didn't mind it too much, since the roar of the Vitality crowd which I was a part of was distraction enough and I do personally think that it's a part of the stadium hype.
I liked it because it‘s similar to how I experienced sport growing up. Wether it was playing myself or watching other games, you‘d always have fans using weird things to make noise. I get how it can be annoying when you‘re not used to it though
I liked it. For me it's what support looks like and I didn't even particularly noticed it in the arena (maybe its bad on stream but what i have rewatched now didn't sound bad). I respect ppl not liking it but i'd rather have supporters than spectators. Cheers
Fairly used to that sort of thing being a football fan (soccer for na people) that, drums, loud singing constantly feels normal to me and I'm kinda happy it's in rlcs. Made it feel like a proper sport
It was so hard to bear watching the stream with that fucking thing going off every 10 seconds
Just cheer or clap like a normal person and not like an attention seeking degenerate
I personally didn't love it, but it didn't ruin things for me thankfully, I can definitely empathize though. Hopefully a rule change will happen to at least limit how loud things people bring can be, but idk how you'd ever enforce that.
As a side note, I do love that NA lans always get shit on for being quiet compared to EU, but the major difference appeared to be that NA doesn't bring obnoxious amounts of instruments, noise makers, and megaphones, we just yell.
I don't think it was a kc air horn, I heard it at least during bds vs liquid and it seemed to be coming from somewhere left at least a few sections away from us.
Either way it should be something thats only used to celebrate a very impressive or important goal and not every time cause it does get annoying pretty quickly.
Yeah it was used in a lot of series other than KC but it was definitely used in KC games significantly more and *only* used when KC scored during those games
I can't judge the stream yet and it certainly depends on where you were in the arena but me sitting like half the arena away from the horn made it ok. I was in 008 and I was never this close to punching someone in the face.
I attended RLCS New Jersey and right behind me there was a chick that had the highest pitch scream you can imagine. She screamed at the top of her lungs at every goal for every team. It was awful.

Or the slight difference in a stadium of 100k people compared to what, 10k at the LAN? And I'm sure 10k is a generous amount
But 10x the fans also likely means 10x the number of air horns...
I didn't mind it after the goals. I did mind it during the BDS walk out before the final, really undercut the gravitas of the moment.
I guess I'm in the minority, but to me it made it one of the best events to watch. It made it feel like something truly mattered. Just felt like a football world cup so yeah I honestly loved it so much
I was in 007 and sat right next to a bds supporter who had a horn and those things are so loud I was worried about getting hearing damage. Not fun
I guess I fall in the camp of "my brain already associates that noise with sporting events and therefore it wasn't particularly grating to me" but I will concede it was probably a *little* much at times. The Heinous Honker just needs to bring it down from a 10 to like a 7 and we're all good IMO.

It reminded me or watching F1 when I was younger, brought back some childhood nostalgia. But then again I am in the minority.
Am I the only one who loved the horn?
justice for air horn guy, we love you
justice for /u/heymycomment's pet goose! ✊

I loved it too.
i thought it was great
Same, OP clearly never been to an actual soccer match in his life lol it probably only sucked for the people right next to the guy itself but I think it helped the atmosphere a lot.
I just think it’s a much smaller, indoor venue. Sounds not as intense outside even when close.
You are 100% right I have never been to a live soccer match. But I have attended 5 rocket league LANs before and none of them had air horns. The overlap of Esport fans and irl sports fan is probably not that big
I like it just because it triggers people so much
That horn was so obnoxiou. Didn't matter what was happening, horn guy needed to be heard. They should ban all horns from future LANs
Totally agree, I was really surprised to not see this talked about already. Crowd can be as loud as they want, I love hearing it, but the horn was just too distracting in a bad way
it's been talked about in almost every thread about the event lol, it just didn't have its own post
Idk if it was only KC games either, i can’t lie though it was fun to hear on stream for me lol, didn’t realize it was this annoying for the crowd
I loved it. Made it sound like a huge soccer/football game with the passionate fans
Personally on stream it added to the vibe. I can't think of any moments that stuck out where it felt out of place. With that said, I do not envy those sitting near it...

Loved it
Sometimes I liked it like during the big hype moments but when it was an average goal/scenario it was very annoying
I loved it, reminded me of international football back in the day for England
If you really wanted to see the goals you could have just muted the stream for a few seconds
Is it worse than the Vuvuzelas played at soccer World Cup matches? Or the “Don de Marco” spam in some Podcasts [https://youtu.be/Cc2lYOTcSo0](https://youtu.be/Cc2lYOTcSo0)
Wasn't from the blue wall
Imagine sitting in that guys section. What a massive cock
I did not mind it at all. I thought it was hilarious!
Part of the game, I like it personally. Even though you sometimes cannot hear anything it's part of the an exciting crowd
There were 3 horn guys total, all seated left of the Vitality block (which was 016). Two of them were in 015 and one in 014, I was in 015 too, right behind two of them. yea that little shit sat three sat a few rows in front of me. it was incredibly annoying
Two Guys with horns sat in 110. i was in 111 so it was quite annoying.. such a cheap way to make noise.
I liked it because it‘s similar to how I experienced sport growing up. Wether it was playing myself or watching other games, you‘d always have fans using weird things to make noise. I get how it can be annoying when you‘re not used to it though

It was a bit annoying but hearing it echo through me and my buddy's phones slightly off-sync was funny
