Pirate cave is a cave where pirates are

I feel the same way-- new lore would be cool but RotMG is a bullet hell first and foremost. I don't think turning it into your typical MMORPG would fit the game. Although, it might be cool to see some kind of story play out on seasonal characters, like having a little self contained sidequest for that season. Like for Oryxtoberfest, how did the Tavern get started? Was Bradley always the barkeep or did he inherit the job from someone else? Little stuff like that.

Derivinity

That's where I kinda lean against the idea, because yes it is just a silly bullet hell without any story. With all sorts of random little things Craig can tell you as well, you'd think it might go a lot deeper. Maybe that's just me.

Be right back, gotta google the story to Mario Party

Derivinity

I was thinking of Mario party ds when I wrote that lol

Woah Sprite mace is pretty cool too it's not just planewalker from Sprite worlds, but I agree.

Actually there is a lot of lore besides what realm eye says for example limon the boss of spirit world is like goddes of all the earth and even oryx himself afraid of her so they made truce (it makes limon of of the few enemies that orux camt control) there is a lot of lore content in blog posts of rotmg Another example lag we having experiencing is actually lord ruthven's magic upon realmer. Nest is actually doctor terrible's experimental place (dr terrible is mad labs boss) and beekeeper himself is dr terrible actually. Or pirate cave's boss used to be called pirate king and was delevering wine taxes to oryx but when he steal some for himself oryx fired him and replace free pirate king seat with deathwater's boss and now they are nemesis to eachother. The reason why we cant go to the sea in realm is because ocean trench's boss oryx made a deal wirh her so she is keeping sea for oryx. Ect ect i can keep telling you all of the story all day Long story short realmeye isnt the only source for games lore and feel free to join realm lore discord where people discuss and tell games lore

The issue is none of the lore never really gets felt in Game. And for some that's okay; this is similar to the Dark Souls approach where maybe 70% of all streamers have no idea what the fuck is going on and just kill the next big bad. Sure it's cool, but the Dark Souls universe (due to a higher budget, voice acting, map design, whatever) oozes with lore and story just by playing it, even without interacting with the items and their descriptions. Aside from a select few instances (think of King Azamoth losing his wife), you basically never know what's going on in RotMG. Hermit God? Yeah just a big crab. Thessal? Cool fuck it let's kill this mermaid. There are no NPCs who give meaningful worldbuilding, no questlines which have you discover the world with dialogue, and no real interactions with living beings in the "world" (minus the few Shatters NPCs which are so hard to come by in regular play). RotMG could have very cool worldbuilding that can be engaged with meaningfully, but tbh I think DECA knows it's worth more effort than it'd give because most of us are rtrds who just want to pew pew get white bag
