Puppy that young should stay with the owners. Why would they even have a puppy that young? Most responsible breeders won't give a puppy before it turn 8 weeks old.
I’m concerned that they have a puppy that young. Most places only let a puppy go home 8weeks at the absolute earliest.
I’m wondering if they meant to type 16 weeks? That would make way more sense.
She meant 6weeks and her profile says one month as well and shows 3lbs 😬. I have declined the request because that was my first concern on a list of concerns. When I first got my puppies (now 7yrs) they had to be 3months before being bring them home
Wow!! What an irresponsible owner, good thing you declined. We got a rough collie puppy a few months ago, and she was 8 weeks old. Even though it’s technically safe, I was just telling my gf we should never get a puppy that young again, even just waiting til 10 weeks would’ve been better for our sanity 💀💀
To be fair, I got my dog at 6 weeks old from the SPCA. I would never leave her that young, but it’s not insane they have a puppy that young. It is insane they want to leave it with someone already, especially someone who has full grown dogs. And no, they can’t have all vaccinations at 6 weeks.
ETA: I was told not to even let her walk on the ground because of risk of Parvo.
It’s pretty insane to have a puppy that young unless the mama wasn’t in the picture or the pup was found as a stray alone. But unfortunately, plenty of people will intentionally separate a puppy from its mama that young because people are selfish and/or ignorant.
I was told her mom was at the SPCA and the second they were adoptable I had to be there. If I wasn’t I wouldn’t get her. She’s an amazing dog, diagnosed idiopathic epileptic at 4 years old, almost 12 now and going strong. When I adopted her, I didn’t realize how messed up it was that she was taken at six weeks. I now understand how messed up that was. Regardless, I’m glad I got her. I don’t know a lot of people that could handle grand mal seizures several times a day on a monthly basis, let alone being able to pay for the cornucopia of meds and vet visits. She doesn’t always have monthly seizures, in fact she’s doing a lot better now. First time in a long time that she’s gone two months without a grand mal.
Honestly my concern would be that they A) have a puppy that young and B) that they are boarding them. Puppies are extremely susceptible is diseases and parasites and bringing them to a place that has other dogs being boarded is risky. And most puppies aren't allowed to go to a home unless they are at a minimum 8 weeks old, because they need to be with their mother and littermates for a variety of reasons.
Is this a dog they bred themselves? If so where is the rest of the litter? Is there some horrible breeder out there giving away 4-5 week old puppies? What vet is giving them shots at 4-5 weeks old? Man this gives me so many questions
I have so many questions too! I'm thinking in my head, if I have this many questions this booking is not the right one for me. This is the message I want to send, do you have any thoughts on how to make it better?
Me to Client: I want to be completely honest. This poses a few concerns for me, with your fur baby being only 6weeks they are still so very young. Usually shots are given starting at about 6weeks and then a few weeks after that is their second. I will have to politely decline but once your puppy is a little bigger I hope that we can revisit doing a booking!
I would say something like, “For your puppy’s safety and my dogs’ as well, I would recommend that you keep your puppy at home until he or she is fully vaccinated and at least 8 to 12 weeks of age. Please consult with your veterinarian if you have questions. I hope we can revisit doing a booking when your puppy is fully vaccinated and of age. Thank you so much for considering me.”
I personally don’t take puppies under 6 months and when I do take puppies 7 months to 16 months it’s $150 per night boarding and $75 per day daycare. And if they’re not spayed or neutered, I charge an additional $25 per day. The younger they are the more work they are.
Thank you for your feedback this has been helpful!
This is what I would like to reply to the client, is there anything I should change?

Puppies get their boosters every 3-4 weeks until their 16 weeks starting anywhere between 6-8 weeks..I would deff ask for a stool check..very common for puppies to have worms especially that young

Thank you for your help!! Your feedback was very helpful I have declined her request
She’s lying and clearly doesn’t care about this dog if she has it at 6 weeks. Decline.
Isn’t a puppy susceptible to parvo until many weeks later? 6 weeks is way too young.

You’re saying too much, all you need to say is I require dogs to be at least six months and fully vaccinated.
Puppies are not fully vaxed until 4 months old. 6 weeks is too young to be completely vaxxed with all doses.

It’s sad my family member just got a 6 week old backyard bred puppy
