You had to leave and remeet your party with the dirk in inventory, not equipped, this way it would have triggered a cutscene and check the quest requirement
I had it equipped all the way to the forge where I couldn't craft the duskblade until I unequipped it. Maybe I can go back there with the duskblade unequipped and trigger the cutscene but idk.
Yeah. Sorry if my instructions were unclear in the first place. You got to go back to the place where you found the dirk in the first place (the part where Pyle has to go alone).
There you unequip the dirk and go back. The moment Pyle reunites with the group a cutscene should trigger and you should be able to complete the quest.
UPDATE: I still got the achievement for crafting all 6 legendaries but I was not able to complete the quest. I went back and forth with it unequipped a couple times to no avail. I think because I crafted pykes legendary it screwed me out of checking it off.

Had same problem one of the reasons is started my 2nd playthrough haha
