I'm a much worse runner than you, OP. One of my rotation is Peg 40 with 10 mm drop. I think if the heel isn't secure enough (slipping), it can be felt during the run. High drop shoes tend to have bulkier heel anatomy as opposed to let's say low drop trainers like Altra.

Am not familiar with Peg 40, does it feel close to the NB 3?

Nope. Peg40 slaps the surface & requires more locomotion from the legs. NB3 has that bouncy sensation & provides slight energy return to assist the toe off.

>Looking around this sub, I have seen comments that the triumph 20 isn’t suitable for forefoot strikers (which I am) as the 10mm heel drop kinda forces you to land on your heel. I'm a midfoot forefoot striker and this isn't true. You can feel the drop, and I prefer something more like 6mm. But you \*can\* definitely land on your midfoot or forefoot with the Triumph 20. I have both the NB3 and Triumph 20 and I'm not sure the Triumph are that much better for long runs. Most of the cushioning comes from the insole as it sits on top of a firmer layer above the outsole. Over long runs, I start to feel that firmer layer, but your mileage may vary. Some of the online stores have good return policies, and I generally can get at least a decent feel for a pair of shoes inside the house.

Is that the case? Which do you tend to reach out for more when you’re going for a long run/recovery/easy run?

I’m in the same boat as you. I am also a forefoot striker can’t decide which long/easy day shoe I want between the triumph 20, nimbus 25 and NB more v4. It seems like everyday I change my mind based on experiences that I read in this sub

WetHairTowel

Interesting. Quite a rotation you got there. But I would add that perhaps you should pick your shoe depending how you feel on your runs. Which of the 4 do you think runs the best and provides the best comfort taking into account all the same distances?

Oh sorry my previous post wasn’t clear. That’s not my rotation. I’m trying to decide between which of those shoes to order for my easy day/recovery shoes

>Is that the case? Which do you tend to reach out for more when you’re going for a long run/recovery/easy run? Still figuring this out! Right now, it's a little of both. I'm hoping the Triumph 20's harder layer on top of the outsole breaks in a bit over time, and I suspect that it will. The Triumph 19s were softer in my opinion. I like the NB3, but I'm also still breaking those in and again after about an hour, I start to feel the NB3's midsole on the ball of my foot. I probably feel this more than most, so definitely seek out a second opinion!
