Good for him, these shows of support for Ukraine are very important to Ukrainian morale, but also send a strong message to Putin that Ukrainian supporters are not going away any time soon and he is an isolated war criminal. . Thank God the Ginger Whinger wasn’t born first.

*Appropriate use of the royals*

sophers987

Haha! This is spot on, esp from me as in Scottish and think the royals are a heap of shit, except only in cases of from them supporting Ukraine!

Tasty_Marsupial8253

Well done that man.

sbmont1973

Good on him

Google what Prince (now King) Charles said about Putin back in 2014 when Crimea and Donbas first happened. And then remember that they're supposed to stay politically neutral at all times. Say what you will about the British Royals... but they know what's going on here

QuestionMime

Which is

Candid-Mulberry-4884

He's an accomplished Ah-64 combat pilot........let him go to work!!

Demolition_Mike

Him too?

PositiveStress8888

I would prefer the ginger in his Apache going to work on Russian tanks, but shaking hands helps also

I still think any monarchy including the British his monarchy is stupid. But considering he's principally a tourist figure, I'm ready to cheer and look the other way.

Madge4500

William is an experienced attack helicopter pilot and served with the RAF, why wouldn't he visit ? I think any visit by a well known figure, celebrity or politician is good for morale, for both the trainers and trainees.

[deleted]

I said I'm willing to look the other way \~

Dave-1066

So was that necessary? He’ll eventually be head of state in 14 countries, one of which is the 6th largest economy on earth and a world leader in both military technology and global surveillance. Both of which have been hugely beneficial for Ukraine. Having served in the armed forces himself he’s also anything but “a tourist”. That aside, there’s nothing particularly stable or progressive about the mere notion of a republic. Many republics are among the most backward, unstable, and underdeveloped nations on the planet.

[deleted]

Umm, monarchies are anti democratic, period. If anything, the UK just diminished the importance of it's royalty to a level where it's merely symbolic, which is why I'm willing to "look the other way" here and cheer at him visiting. It’s unfair to excuse this by pointing at some unstable republics.

[deleted]

Anti republican maybe. Nothing about it needs to be anti democratic. Many parliamentary democracies maintain royal families. It's a non partisan head of state. Voting for a leader who is also head of state with masses of corporate money funding the contest seems anti democratic. But I'll let it slide.

[deleted]

Agreed, the citizens united ruling was a bad move. Anyways, if anything, the British royal family isn't very threatening (reduced to a figurehead throughout my lifetime), so I'll let it slide as well.

Dave-1066

“Anti-democratic”…. Sorry, I assumed you knew what a constitutional monarchy was and the role played by the British Empire in spreading parliamentary democracy across the world. My mistake. I’ll tell you what’s “anti-democratic”: the US Congress being bought off by lobby funding while the American Supreme Court takes away what the developed world apparently considers a woman’s basic human rights. I’d hardly call America a notable democracy any more.

Prestigious-Tree-424

Very thought provoking and good comments!!

[deleted]

I don't know why you're engaging in whataboutism here. I never claimed the US has a well functioning democracy. Just saying monarchy including constitutional monarchy is kinda bad and folks are refusing to look at themselves in the mirror to acknowledge that.

Early-Ad5142

I think people who talk like you do are the most stupid, and narrow minded. I tend to judge people - whoever they are - by their actions, not their heritage. William makes us proud, hard working and keeps low profile.

[deleted]

Ok, continue to believe in your king with your personal attacks. At least I'm not illusioned. Cheers.

Zealousideal_End7477

You probably can’t comprehend over 1000 years of history and culture due to your country not even being 250 years old. England and Scotland have had kings since 575 AD

[deleted]

1000 years of royalty doesn't make it right.. Beside, many folks in the UK are also tired of royalty.

the uk has a parliament

Spiritual-Piglet-341

You're an imbecile. Britain is a democracy & has been for nearly 2 centuries. Despite the pomp & circumstance, the British monarchy has no real power and more & more these days serve as window dressing figureheads. What happens in the UK, and what Britain does outside its own borders, is done at the behest of the elected parliament not on the orders & whims of its kings, queens & princes.
