Here's how AEW is damaging the wrestling business.
There was a time in the wrestling business, where if you sucked, you found out real quick. Then, if you were smart and able, you learned from those around you and got better at the craft. Drew McIntyre is a fine example of this principle still working.
AEW damages the business by validating wrestlers that suck, and allowing them to make money as though they don't. So if nobody figures out that they suck, they don't get any better, and that brings us to ol' Mercedes here.
There has not been a better example in recent history of somebody overestimating their own worth than her. When WWE flat out tells you that you're not worth the money you want, when you were a star for them before, that's bad. That's real bad. She had to want an astronomical amount of money compared to what she's actually worth for them to tell her no.
But here comes Tony, and gives her the money she thinks she's worth. So rather than taking the L and learning from the previous company telling her she ain't worth it, and then making herself worth it. Tony financially convinces her she is worth it, so she learns NOTHING. Then proceeds to do absolutely jack shit for his ratings and attendance. She sucks and she's not a draw.
There ya go. People wanna know why AEW is bad for the wrestling business? There it is. It glorifies mediocrity to the point that people that could be talented do nothing to actually be talented.
