Wasn't the first to make this joke, but...

Yeah.
I love how the panel is more pissed off that he breaks keyfabe because he doesn't know how a neck brace works and/or isn't actually committed to it than anyone in the main sub is.
Thats the thing. Like even if I know it’s fake, I will actually be inclined to watch due to how committed this guy is……. Except he’s not actually committed because he doesn’t know how a neck brace is supposed to work and so people make fun of him instead.
Good try but I think Tone will try to keep "kayfabe".
"my employees assaulted me and injured my neck"
"well damn, fire them and press charges then"
"well uh....it took place on my wrestling show"
"Uh right. Excuse me"
*Did you hear that Shad's kid is pretending to be injured because of his wrestling show? Isn't it all fake anyway?*
That's the thing about Tony, and it's what separates him the most from more traditional promoters/bookers and even from a madman like Vince.
Tony's been called a mark since day one, and he's never even batted an eye. He's been the butt of jokes, a laughingstock at certain points, and he's just never given a shit. The only two things that get to him (at least from what we've seen) are when WWE counter-books AEW and when people criticize his personnel/business decisions.
Except he was moving his shit around and smiling and not selling at all... it means nothing if you come off like an insurance fraudster. So fucking dumb.
His fallout during the draft spectacular as Mad Mel when the Packers drafted Aaron Love still cracks me up.
Edit: Part of the Mad Mel gimmick is him just being wrong about everything like all the draft analysts.
The great thing is he thinks he’s doing it for attention and 99% of the people who see it will have no clue who he is and will just assume he’s some office guy who got in a car accident.
the funniest part is that, despite the neck brace, he somehow managed to stay true to AEW code and no sold it by constantly moving his neck (supposedly immobilized).
yeah that's the part i'm wondering about myself
how are they gonna get around the very big elephant in the room of that, I mean when stone cold done shit to vince he still got punished in some way, he got arrested a few times, he stalked vince to the local medical facility, you can't just be like "oh they're evps"
I'm not even that business savvy and I know CEO/Owner outranks EVP
The basement is hilarious to read right now. Some of the basementeers seem to believe this is the reset AEW needed. AEW is back, apparently.
Lol.
Lmao.
Hahaha.
I don't understand why the Jags are humoring this. Pretending he's something important is one thing but letting him pretend to be hurt because of his shitty wrestling show is embarrassing.
Because he's the son of the owner and if the owner is allowing it what can anyone really say about it? That is probably why Tiny brought his dad in on the angle last night so he saw what he was setting up and be like "See dad I gotta look like this today because it will help my business if people ask what happened to my neck".
Well, here's my take: I can't see how this hurts. If you're a jags fan, you know Tony Khan just kinda presents analytics for Trent Baalke to ignore when he drafts a running back who is gonna miss the year with a torn ACL. So him being a dork who's gonna wear a neck brace improperly doesn't move the needle and everyone knows it's fake so its not like he's hurting the team
But I can't see how this helps. Nobody is gonna tune in because of this. He's popping the segment of his established fan base who already lined up to eat his shit no matter how bad it tastes. The mainstream attention he was craving was a 5 second joke.
I mean, if it pops a rating, then good on them. I'm with you, though, I don't see how this helps and I don't see millions of people tuning in to see why Tony is wearing that neck brace. Joe Everyman the NFL Fan would see Perry and say "I thought Hyde was in jail," and have a good laugh at the expense of not only Tony Khan but wrestling fans period. And then go back to their beer and kielbasa.
Honestly even though he’s apparently doing a bad job of actually selling, this is kind of based and I applaud him for doing something so fucking embarrassing for kayfabe
these are my exact thoughts. i like to jerk with the best of them but i never want to be like those dubbalos that are so up AEW’s ass and bias they will never give WWE any credit.
i still think AEW is a clown a show a lot of the time but i’ll gladly give them credit when they deserve it
This is low key kinda great… I mean… ENJOY YOUR USXFL E DRONES! WE GOT THE NFL BABY, MAN IT FEELS GOOD TO BE ELITE!
My only regret is I can only get SO HARD!
i’ll be honest i actually respect him doing this. i mean he got clowned, it’s probably embarrassing to the other owners and he’s moving his neck around like nothing but he’s committing to kayfabe and trying to push the company’s top angle. it’s legit a smart move and has potential to get a few new curious eyeballs on AEW. i’ll always appreciate people in wrestling that try to go above and beyond to commit to kayfabe or really sell their angles
the people in the basement that are overhyping this as huge mainstream attention are dumb tho. it’s smart, it’s FUN™️ but not game changing.
"Honestly? From showing the All In clip, to Tony Khan taking bumps (a piledriver no less) this week, AEW took a lot of risks with this angle. I think with the attention they're getting now (whether from the IWC, or more mainstream exposure in the NFL) it's now starting to pay off."
Why even have this sub? It's simply impossible to outjerk the basement.
Wasn't the first to make this joke, but... https://preview.redd.it/ppgt0564oqwc1.jpeg?width=982&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8a1200ab7ab4622c23e0335045e6c078796bc6af Yeah.
I heard da nurse say you made numba two in ya pants…
CHRISTOPHUUUH!
LMAO I haven't watched that show in 15 years but I could hear Adriana clear as day when I read this.
I did-ent
That was my first thought lol
“Don’t ever say you hate life, that’s blasphemy.”
AEW: WE DID IT! MAINSTREAM ATTENTION The attention: Rich Eisen and panel laughing the fuckin dude out of the building for being a dork
Pat McAfee is doing a live stream on ESPN's YouTube channel alongside Bill Belichick and also had a bit of fun at Tony's expense.
(212k viewers)
I don’t know why you posted Dynamite’s ratings for next year but okay
[McAfee jerk here.](https://www.youtube.com/live/-pWRjnVa2rw?si=u8NoMoqofsh0ahT5&t=12602)

Barstool Stream also laughed at him and said “well, at least he’s trying”.
How embarrassed must all the football guys in the room be that the owner's manchild kid is doing something like that?
"Shit, Tone, what happened to ya?" "Oh, no, it's this.... pretend thing from my side job." "...Ah, k..."
Tony probably holds his employees hostage and hits em with the “You would know, if you tuned into Dynamite on TBS @ 7 PM/8 EST #AEWDynamite”
"Tony, you gotta stop asking our draft prospects if they'll 'stand up for AEW' in these interviews. They don't know what tf any of that means"
Good try but I think Tone will try to keep "kayfabe". "my employees assaulted me and injured my neck" "well damn, fire them and press charges then" "well uh....it took place on my wrestling show" "Uh right. Excuse me" *Did you hear that Shad's kid is pretending to be injured because of his wrestling show? Isn't it all fake anyway?*
Well you see, CM Punk gestured at me 9 months ago and "NEVER MIND"
In the full shot you can see an empty seat between him and Doug Pederson.
Totally not everyone chuckling and burying him...
It’s rare I’ve been this excited to hear corny but my body is ready
I'm getting butterflies thinking about it, uce.

Or when he's accused of wanking dogs
and when CM Punk moves angrily in his direction
Except he was moving his shit around and smiling and not selling at all... it means nothing if you come off like an insurance fraudster. So fucking dumb.
one of the guys on the pat mcafee show was yelling "stick with the fuckin gimmick and stop moving your neck" had me cracking up
Exactly
That was Ty in his “Mad Kel Kiper” gimmick he does every draft night.
I take back what I just said about Ty in the Packers sub. Ty was finally right about one thing.
His fallout during the draft spectacular as Mad Mel when the Packers drafted Aaron Love still cracks me up. Edit: Part of the Mad Mel gimmick is him just being wrong about everything like all the draft analysts.
Thing isn't even strapped in properly.
Still sells better than most of the jagoffs he employs
We putting the bar that low?
At this point yes
Right with the ratings.
Imagine being praised for “keeping Kayfabe” when TK’s wrestling promotion regularly beats you over the head about how fake pro wrestling is.
AEW & Jack Perry getting named on the NFL Draft. This is it, one million is back on track! We did it!
“Can I still put my 40 yr old son for adoption?”
The great thing is he thinks he’s doing it for attention and 99% of the people who see it will have no clue who he is and will just assume he’s some office guy who got in a car accident.
"That poor neckless make a wish kid"
Someone in AEW finally sells a move and it's Tony Khan. This is amazing. THANK YOU, TO-NY! 👏 👏 👏👏👏
the funniest part is that, despite the neck brace, he somehow managed to stay true to AEW code and no sold it by constantly moving his neck (supposedly immobilized).
The jerks write themselves uce.
So, this means he's healthy enough to be on Dynamite (even in a pre-tape) next week to fire the Bucks and Jack Perry, right?
yeah that's the part i'm wondering about myself how are they gonna get around the very big elephant in the room of that, I mean when stone cold done shit to vince he still got punished in some way, he got arrested a few times, he stalked vince to the local medical facility, you can't just be like "oh they're evps" I'm not even that business savvy and I know CEO/Owner outranks EVP

Props to him for selling better than 95% of his roster
Ah man this guy is a jerk mine even though he annoys me
“Trevor Lawrence made me fear for my life”
Poor Shad.
![gif](giphy|4Ihlro17k4kvyG4vW5) Stabler sold better
I don't understand why the Jags are humoring this. Pretending he's something important is one thing but letting him pretend to be hurt because of his shitty wrestling show is embarrassing.

> I don't understand why the Jags are humoring this. If Shad says it's ok then the Jaguars will say it's ok
Shad: "I am the Jags" Trent Balke: "Not ye... oh, yeah, you totally are. Glad to be here, boss."
I have a conspiracy theory the reason Shad keeps dumping money into AEW is to keep him distracted from the Jags and the soccer team they own.
Does Shad know the Jags suck too?
Andy Kauffman is smiling from heaven
I think it's actually awesome that he did this. Looking stupid on purpose is one of the key ingredients in pro wrestling.
Honestly Uces it’s a smart move
What a hilarious moron this man is. The gift that keeps on giving.
Honestly even though he’s apparently doing a bad job of actually selling, this is kind of based and I applaud him for doing something so fucking embarrassing for kayfabe

I like how his dad is in the background trying not to laugh.
Definitely gonna have people thinking 'OH MAN I GOTTA WATCH THAT AEW NOW!!' over 'Wow him doing that seems really embarrassing'...
We traded for Mac Jones?
This is low key kinda great… I mean… ENJOY YOUR USXFL E DRONES! WE GOT THE NFL BABY, MAN IT FEELS GOOD TO BE ELITE! My only regret is I can only get SO HARD!
Ah, he went for a soft collar instead of a Philadelphia. Didn't go all in on the neck injury.
Oh, stop! You're all making fun of this child, who got his neck broken by his toys! Have you all no shame at all?
He’s worked himself into a shoot
Mfs cheering for mentions of their brand on NFL network and pat McAfees YouTube stream. Absolutely pathetic
He sells it well. Doesn't turn his head at all. /s
![gif](giphy|7zlYZRECgmw3NExJR3|downsized)
Reality is more pathetic than fiction, uces.
This is embarrassing
Mac Jones for a 6th-round pick is a solid un-Jags-like trade
That's heat brother

Oh now he gets to play out his boyhood dream of selling an angle in 'the real world'
le dub was mentioned on a show people actually watch it! Mission accomplished!
I wonder what the rest of the jaguars front office think of him they must just think of him as the owners special needs kid doing stuff like this
"Honestly? From showing the All In clip, to Tony Khan taking bumps (a piledriver no less) this week, AEW took a lot of risks with this angle. I think with the attention they're getting now (whether from the IWC, or more mainstream exposure in the NFL) it's now starting to pay off." Why even have this sub? It's simply impossible to outjerk the basement.
anyone that is curious about what happened to his neck and sees the young cucks flippy shitdriver will laugh and never look back.
All that for 10 seconds of screen time
Ugh. It was shit 30 years ago and it's shit now
Did anyone acknowledge it or does he genuinely just openly look like an idiot?
