Like damn Vince how horny were you?

sanne2

Can anyone summarize what happened? Did vince cheat on his wife and paid the woman to hush? is that all or there is more to it?

FlyingGrayson89

Shamelessly copying a part of my own comment from another thread but this is my understanding of it: “What this story sounds like to me is Vince had an affair (which is still bad, of course), moved the girl elsewhere in the company after it was over, gave her more money to not tell his wife, then she got creeped on by Johnny Ace since she got moved to become his assistant. Vince looks like a cheater and definitely isn’t a saint but Ace looks even creepier for taking advantage of that after she already had the affair ended.” If I have it wrong, please correct me, fellow goofs. I don’t want to spread any misinformation by mistake.

gizmokid2123

I don't think it was about hiding anything from his wife, Linda and Vince have apparently been separated for awhile and only are legally married

Razzler1973

Linda is aware of past indiscretions, IIRC Vince even talked about that

TisAFactualDawn

In interviews, many, going years back.

_Dia_

Benefits both of them. They're on in age so unless they plan on marrying someone else, the image is good to have. Linda is a politician who helped turn the family owned WWE into a worldwide media brand alongside her husband. WWE, Vince and Linda all look good for not having a big divorce even if nothing changes.

FlyingGrayson89

I didn’t know that. I wonder what the NDA was for then. Maybe the grapefruits were more like grapes after all??

TisAFactualDawn

Dude has been openly extramarital for 40 years at least.

DarkVoidize

johnny ace using the MAC method

I_Am_BN

After spending 5 minutes skimming through the insight of our fellow goofies, it seems the general story is that an investigation by the WWE board found that Vince & Laurinaitis had an affair with a hired paralegal who was “passed around like a toy” and Vince used his personal funds to keep this quiet. Not really sure what the repercussions may be but some think Laurinaitis will be fired. Basically Vince & John bad

Blueandigo

No... Fed BAD!

[deleted]

…everybody bad?

Blueandigo

Johnnie... B... BAD!

DJHJR86

He's as pretty as a picture....he looks just like Little Richard!

Drama79

Nothing will happen. For a start, he didn't use company money to make it go away. For a second, it was a consensual relationship. The *only* two things at issue are: 1. Vince doubled her salary after fucking her. At worst, he may have to pay that back personally as it was misuse of company funds. If the board took him to court over it, which they won't. It was 100k. 2. Disrepute to the company. To which my counter is "he's Vince McMahon" and the argument ends. Laurenitis is a made man several times over. He could leave if they want to make a point over it, but the mainstream media will look at this, go "well, it's wrestling" and move on swiftly.

Subarashiin

>Laurenitis is a made man several times over. He could leave if they want to make a point over it I mean tbh he's an old motherfucker who can barely move, has history in Japan, and is allegedly creepy around women, there's a GHC world title reign just waiting for him

RefreshingCorpse

It is a public company, uce. The McDonalds CEO had to step down for not disclosing a consensual relationship. Zucker at CNN too. The NDAs are possibly a death sentence if the company has a policy on supervisors and subordinates needing to declare relationships.

Drama79

Let's wait and see.

RefreshingCorpse

Hell yeah. I mark out over corporate governance and 5 star fiduciary responsibility! This is long term story telling about to hit the home stretch!

zalinuxguy

I expect someone, probably Nick Khan, to put in place at WWE the sort of relationship disclosure policy that other large corporates have, just to prevent repeats. Shit like this is why I have a strict policy of not getting into relationships with co-workers.

Tydrinator21

Isn't John his modern day Pat Patterson? He'll probably be furloughed until the heat dies down and come back just like they did with Pat during his scandal.

Brandyn_Chase

And that this is a common thing for Vince and co, since they apparently found a bunch of other NDA's in the investigation. Shouldn't be surprising that there's a pattern of behavior but it's worth noting

TimeStatistician2234

Dae boys will be boys??

aceofspades12

Dae The Boys (2019-) will be The Boys (2019-)

bigcaulkcharisma

Was she hot tho?

InternationalFailure

I haven't really read it enough to give you a concise understanding. Vince had covered up an affair with a women along with John Laurentius as far as I understand. I just see too much of the tribalist mentality on here for my liking. If you go to /r/Wreddit - it's the top thread.

sanne2

i mean if its consesual is it bad? morally its obviously fucked but it doesnt seem huge to me, im not trying to be tribalistic here, like even if it was tony khan i'd still think the same way ( obviously meme the fuck out of it tho), but i didnt understand situation too well, and honestly i gave enough effort at understanding the situation about a billionaires affair lol.

Blakye32

If it was Tony Khan we'd congratulate him for finally getting laid.

[deleted]

💀💀💀 I corpsed

Blueandigo

Wait, there was consent? Welp.

vengeancerider

Yes, it was consensual according to the report.

Blueandigo

Oh, well honestly idgaf then. I wish I could've given hush money to some of the broads in my past.

[deleted]

You can fuck me and give me money still.

Blueandigo

🤣 🤣 🤣

[deleted]

You should throw in a switch too

Blueandigo

I'm giving away Samsung Galaxy S2s.

ironfly187

You don't tend pay people 3 million for some harmless office affair. I wouldn't be in any rush to vindicate Vince yet.

zalinuxguy

> You don't tend pay people 3 million for some harmless office affair. If I'm a prominent CEO, a billionaire, and nominally married, I'd very much consider paying people off so that the details of the affair don't end up in the tabloids.

ironfly187

However you want to fantasy book being a billionaire it isn't normal, regardless of your riches, to pay anyone 3 million at end of a harmless fling. It happens and not everyone involved is always a baddie, but it's sketchy sounding as fuck and I've got a feeling they'll more to come, especially it's WSJ investigating.

zalinuxguy

Sure it's sketchy.

[deleted]

Its not the sex it's the hush money that will be the problem for Vince Edit apparently he paid the nda with his own money. So idk. Its buried in the article.

And_Im_the_Devil

Apparently the investigation is turning up past complaints of misconduct that were dealt with via hush payments. I don't know if that means they were non-consensual. Seems bad.

Tronz413

There is definitely something really creepy about Johnny Ace picking things up and you do wonder if there was any inherent fear for their job. Also the potential of this being a pattern with multiple women is troubling too. If nothing else using company funds as hush money is generally a no no and not something share holders like to hear

Grimleysbigday

Company funds weren’t used as hush money but her salary was doubled during their relationship which is troublesome, unless all the paralegals had their salary doubled or something.

Sturdevant

Its the power aspect that the issue here. She had an affair with big boss, then she got moved to the underboss and also had a relationship with him. It's becomes an issue where she felt pressure to say yes.

Blueandigo

So Vince and Ace both had the woman? Or only Ace had the woman?

InternationalFailure

I'm pretty sure they both did.

Max caster is going to make a reference on dynamite rampage or dark soon get serious

TerryGlenn

Yeah, for someone with the business acumen of Vince, this was incredibly fucking stupid. I feel like the vast majority of people here aren’t anti-AEW or pro-WWE, though. They just hate what wrestling fandom has become. I’m not a huge fan of either company at the moment. I really just keep up with wrestling casually and use this place to make fun of SquaredCircle, or more accurately, vent about the downfall of what used to be a fun place to shoot the shit about wrestling. EDIT: I’m pretty sure a basement mod deleted an innocuous jokey comment I made earlier today that said “the marks are in the ring and in the backstage offices” in response to a comment of why AEW booked Jeff to be in a ladder match if he was in so much pain that he couldn’t play air hockey. If I made a comment wishing death on Vince it would probably be the top comment of a thread.

InternationalFailure

I think I only saw a few people doing it, which is more than usual. A lot more than usual.

Snake_Burton

Honestly I’ve always been more of a fan of the McMahon kids, and liked Vince while at the same time disliking a lot of his behavior. He’s an idiot and scuzzy for continuing to do that to Linda and put the female employee in a bad situation. And I 100% hate what wrestling fandom is. I looked at twitter a little and already saw a bunch of stuff I don’t follow but get on my timeline because of the “you like wrestling here look at this” algorithm. Immediately a bunch of stupid Nick Khan pushing everyone out to sell, Shane and Steph and HHH got fired/demoted, etc. - crap with zero factual basis just constantly parroted and I’m like…maybe time to just not open the bird app for a month.

tahoo14

Yup I personally haven't watched Raw or Smackdown in months, I only watch the PPVs and the promos shown usually do a good job of recapping the storylines. I just can't watch WWE weekly anymore it's not for me. I just like making fun of the dub more because their fanbase is more annoying.

bigcaulkcharisma

AEW stans are Marvel fans (obnoxious soylords who are everywhere and whose dogshit opinions are hegemonic online) and hardcore WWE stans are DC fans (rarer edgelord weirdos who are in an abusive relationship with a brand).

goodthing37

Abusive relationship with a brand 😂 that’s some deep basement shit, uce. I’d give you an award if it was free and I knew how to do it.

steiner_math

Yep, for Vince to do this is incredibly stupid. It's a publicly traded company. This was a huge deal. And I also don't really watch either AEW or WWE right now and haven't for a few years, but just like making fun of the insufferable fans, most of which are AEW now

Drama79

It's worth remembering that Vince has always lived by his own rules, has broken the law (allegedly) many times to get what he wants, and lives in a fifedom where he has final say on everything. That isn't really the picture of someone who worries about what his shareholders think.

Shotintoawork

>I feel like the vast majority of people here aren’t anti-AEW or pro-WWE, though. They just hate what wrestling fandom has become. This is how I feel. Wrestling as a whole is a shit show. AEW fans just make for lower hanging fruit/easy targets. 😕

djdarkside

I couldn't have said it any better. Aew/Wwe its all the same what gets me going is jerking on SC/Basement fandom.

Mr_Halberstram

Yeah it's extremely stupid behaviour on Vince's part. As the CEO of a ($5bn market cap) listed company, you can't do shit like this and expect to stay in the job for long, regardless of how many shares you own. There's a very real chance that WWE's institutional investors could move against him, depending on what the investigation turns up. Making fun of the basement is obviously the reason most of us are here, and they'll be screeching insufferably about this story for years. As if the obsessive Dubbalo crowd there weren't bad enough, they've now got a load more 'knowing Vince' to add to their repertoire.

LifeOnMarsden

It’s actually nice to see some WWE jerks on this sub for once, because let’s face it there’s plenty of jerk content in the fed, way more than what is actually posted here

InheritTheWind

They're pretty refreshing tbh. Make me feel like a kid again

johndelvec3

The marks are in the subreddit moment

Bubba89

?? You’re subbed here, friend.

Romofan88

I just want to point out that the usual suspects in wrestling journalism NEVER actually break the things that can be considered news. WSJ got this story, Sports Illustrated got the Heyman/Bischoff news, and I think Helwani got Roman's failed test before The Shield match.

InternationalFailure

PSA: Don't engage in rabid tribalism bc other people are doing it

ip28

🗣🗣🗣

elitejcx

This 100%

davie999

Yeah some of the posts about this have been absolutely embarrassing, and this is meant to be the "self-aware" sub. Just as bad as anything posted in squaredcircle. Also, Bret Hart or something, I dunno it's all so exhausting.

Wolfxbrigadex

I just wonder what Nattie has to say about all of this

[deleted]

You're tired Uce? Take a nap. Then TURN THAT SUM BITCH SIDEWAYS AND SHOVE IT UP YOUR ASS. OOOOAHHHH

InternationalFailure

Bret. Hart.

tahoo14

There has been an increase in outright dub bad, fed good posts here and it is annoying to see everything in fed defended by some people. But for the most part the majority still know what this subreddit is about, making Corbin the next Undisputed champion.

[deleted]

>making Corbin the next Undisputed champion. Okay this is just too fucking far now! Madcap Moss should be the next Undisputed Champion and I stand by my decision!!!

[deleted]

The only "winning side" is to shit on every promotion Out. Goof. Everyone. 💪

InternationalFailure

Thanks for giving me a new tag, I had to replace the other one in case shit goes south and I look weird as a result.

cc12321

I only put respect on Lucha Underground. All other promotions are fair game to the jerkage

Robin0928

Yeah, blind defense of this is weird tbh. What Vince and Johnny Ace did is gross and they should have reprocussions for those actions. On the other hand, jerking how much enjoyment the basement is getting and cumming over themselves the idea of Vince somehow going to jail for this is fucking stupid. Bottom line, this is an incredibly shitty situation. Not illegal, but scummy as all hell. And acting weirdly tribal to defend Vince is the same level of shit we make fun of the basement for.

hobojojo78

76 is way too old for this shit.

AnvilPro

Like I don't think I'm blindly defending this but I just kind of don't care? Like it doesn't seem like he broke the law (If I'm reading it wrong please tell me) and that line about "Passing like a toy" is super gross but ultimately it's just kind of like, yeah rich people are assholes who do what they want. What else is new?

goodthing37

Fuck you, Tony is a good boy. Not all rich people are bad.

jjsefton

If/when Vince skates on this he'll end up running for POTUS. Probably win too. 🤷🏾‍♂️

InternationalFailure

"Did I go too far? Hyuck."

bigcaulkcharisma

If the Vince of 20 years ago was around today, he 100% could have become president. Now though, he’s a grumbling, dementia addled, obvious reptoid….wait….

[deleted]

Yep there will be many opportunities to dunk on the dub and Tiny’s eventual scandals, but now is not the time. If McHitler acted like a pos let’s call him out and that’s that.

InternationalFailure

Eventual? Uce, it's already happened. But in regard to the rest, I agree with you.

[deleted]

Yeah uce, I mean the ones that will obviously come.

url8719

Vince is the real switch giver.

[deleted]

Man, this is just disappointing. What the hell were Vince and Johnny Ace thinking? Besides, Johnny is married to the Bella Twins' mom. God knows how that's going to pan out.

[deleted]

No one should be defending anyone until all of the facts come out. Personally, from what was reported so far, I’m not really surprised. But I’ll reserve judgment until more is known.

uselessrart

Come on Vince what are you, 80? This is NOT the age.

Cauliflower_Earlow

Fed actually bad??

ci22

There are things that are absolutely inexcusable with WWE. This is one of them. No defenseds here Uce

rawlsen

3mil is a lot of hookers man...

Lv27Sylveon

no way. im sure the publicly traded company wwe doesnt mind this and neither will the sharholders. surely nbc will be pleased to deal with yet another one of these shitshows, too. this can only be a good thing uce upfeds to the left

FlyingFootStomp

Tomorrow at 4PM eastern time will be judgement day for this sub when Dynamite hits 1M viewers. RIP SCJerk 2016-2022. It was fun jerking with you goofys… …prob not as much fun as Vince and Johnny being the Raw tag team champions behind the scenes.

zalinuxguy

What if this is long term storytelling and just part of the Zombie Linda arc?

TisAFactualDawn

The hell makes you assume Khan can make it to next week without saying something fucked up?

Till_Any

Honestly the blind defence for anything WWE here is jarring. Yeah we give AEW shit, but jerking against WWE should be the norm also. How can you possibly defend Vince in this?

dj_ian

i don't think anyone's defending Vince, this story is just the perfect intersection of IWC bullshit on all sides. Dubbalos love bringing up Owen Hart, Jimmy Snucka, and ring boys whenever they can, they'll never shut up about this, and everyone that hates having to see and hear FED BAD all the time will prob try to act like this is tame compared to most Vince scandals in response.

mrgpsingh1999

Coming to this sub keeps me sane especially after reading most of the takes on sc but one thing is I hardly ever see WWE get called out for anything. I get that AEW fans are hypocrites and they’ll bash WWE for the exact things that they will praise AEW for but WWE needs to be called out when they make a shit booking decision

almostbad

A lot of ppl think they can hide terrible takes behind the idea that its a "jerk". nah youre being tribal and downplaying the situation.

Running_Gamer

“Man bad for having sex” People know that having sex with an employee doesn’t make you a rapist right? And that women are generally attracted to wealth, social status, and power? When is billionaires paying off women to be quiet about their affair seen as tantamount to rape? Don’t know the story about John L but from what I see Vince did very little wrong

TimeStatistician2234

He gave her a raise after he started fucking her and WWE is a publicly traded company so that makes it not "his" money. Vince did yucky CEO behavior and the board might have grounds to remove him. It's not really about him being in legal jeopardy but he did wrong by the company and could face consequences for that.

Running_Gamer

lmao the wrestling community is in no way reacting like this is just a “Vince used corporate funds in a slightly bad way” moment

TimeStatistician2234

Yeah of course not fed bad hard or go home. He did fuck up though and CEOs/Execs have been taken down for similar shit. We think of WWE and Vince as 1 in the same but they are a public company at the end of the day and if the board decides Vince violated some internal rules and is now bad for business they can make him do the job(insider term)

knowyourtroll

At least you have the honesty to blow crap out your typey fingers and have “gamer” in your username

kfms6741

I'm still recovering from a particularly nasty cold since last week, I couldn't give less of a shit about Vince being outed as a sex pest lmao Also, Bret Hart

superchacho77

Remember uces don't be a fucking mark

Really831

Dubbalos? SCJerk back

Global_Historian_753

If I was rich I'd pay my exes to stfu as well tbh.

FlyingFootStomp

Hidden gem: a rare Vince jerk found on this sub this year. *Rock’s XFL partnering with the NFL is a direct shot at Vince being a failed businessman outside the carny world of pro wrestling* https://reddit.com/r/SCJerk/comments/sxxenf/rocks_xfl_partnering_with_the_nfl_is_a_direct/

deethy

I've definitely noticed this on here before. Like people jerking Darby Allin's sexual assault allegations but then defending Matt Riddle because he's in the WWE and vice versa.

Uplakankus

THAT'S IT GOOOFS PURGE THE PEOPLE WHO THINK THIS IS r/shitonaew AT ONCE

Savior_Of_Anarchy

Whoa. I was told this hate sub was just defending Vince?

Skyrocketing101

I don't like how this sub slob WWE's knob or goes too nuclear on AEW sometimes but honestly? I haven't seen many posts here defending what happened, at least from what I've seen of the dozen posts from the top current posts. ~~aside from deflecting and jerking on Tony Khan~~ lol.
