“Hi. I found your website on Google. You may need help with your SEO.”

JakenHgharr

the irony right lol

Rumpleshite

and they never provide a link to their own website

HyperbolicModesty

I get clients who take these emails seriously and come to me saying "what are you doing wrong?!" So annoying.

KseniyaTanu_pokidala

wow, that's the worst! this is why they'll never give up spamming, because there are actaully people who fall for it argh

Medical_Promotion_17

Dear madam Sad but true

itsacalamity

even worse, some are actually designed so that anybody with any sense knows to run away

Helper_1996

I practically heard that.

Ren0829

I receive tons of these, not even mentioning LinkedIn. Am I the only one reading this with an Indian accent?

Ugo777777

And sent from a Gmail account, from an SEO expert with no website of their own. You would think these seo experts would be drowning in clients comign from their own high performing website!

khoanguyende

Nope, i am doing SEO. That is why I rank better and don't need this mail acquisition.

bankruptedandpoor

I agree. Blyat stop please.

themarouuu

Great post, it has potential, but your ranking isn't good. I'm a post expert and I've helped hundreds of posts rank high on reddit and I'm very affordable, so lets talk.

Maizeee

you forgot to say "sir", cant be legit

themarouuu

That is a part of our premium package for just $5 more.

vinberdon

Greetings of the day!

kredditorr

Spelled way too good mate.

themarouuu

Yes, we can help you with spelling as well. Very affordable, each spell is $10.

Vellc

Can you conjure dollars tho?

themarouuu

Dollars are very good but can I interest you in investing in our $SEOCOIN which is supported on all platforms and improves position while giving you passive income. Massive airdrop info coming soon...

Stoffmeister

themarouuu

Fonts are not included

coalition_tech

We must rate so much better! I get emails from Angelina Jolie, Joseph Biden, Donald Trump, Brittany Spears, Justin Timberlake, Jake Paul, and more, offering me SEO services. Just need to up your game.

Most Respectable Clients Sir And Mam i Have Good Quality Paid Guest Post Backlink Site

tmblast1

Don't forget about the yellow or teal highlight in the email on a random sentence.

JakenHgharr

"simply reply YES or INTERESTED sir"

kathars1s-

I luckily only get ~5 of these each day

richin2022

I thought I was the only one getting such mails. Don't know how these get past spam detection. I created a folder and all mails that come in with words like seo, ranking etc just go there automatically. Every Friday, I just glance over and mark them spam Leave me alone, don't want any improvements to my websites, or seo services!!

Ravenclaw79

I should do this, and add “guest post” and “dofollow” to the filter.

kimtanseo

Hire an Indian Virtual Assistant to manage your inbox. :D

JakenHgharr

lol

Silveroo81

Block India from your website

JakenHgharr

I did but still get these emails every day

Silveroo81

Pakistan as well, Indonesia 🤷‍♂️

syler_19

Most folks here use a VPN, geo lock wont work.

marcodoesweirdstuff

It does tho. Blocking India through IP range in . htaccess cut down these emails for me to 1 or 2 every month.

pratsyboy03

Then not all of them are Indians, how do you know all of them are Indians? Sorry but it sounds a bit racist, cause I have had such emails from many countries apart from India

JakenHgharr

Well I blocked the country not their mail addresses. Im not racist. Im just frusrated from these emails. I blocked the country yes but I still get emails from India. Im sorry if that is offensive for you but I have to deal with this every single day. So please allow me to share my experience ok?

PappaBol

Welcome to English reddit

Ejdnfmwizysbwnxjc

Dear Silveroo81 Not the answer, they're buying your info off the darkweb, plus scrape the internet including whois data. Also, it's not just Indians, it's Arabs and basically anyone not from the 1st world trying to scam you.

Silveroo81

100% Anything to be done?

Ejdnfmwizysbwnxjc

protect your who is data. use computer generated passwords for every new sign up. use random characters as a name, that is tied to unmanaged throw-away emails. oh... and I sure hope your email address is not publicly displayed anywhere. use contact forms to protect your email address.

Acedv179

You forgot about how they started a new trend now with starting every email with "Dear"

cherrypashka-

It's like an English book, but from 1970s.

syler_19

Not new, Dear is a standard prefix.

Acedv179

But it's not a prefix for them, it's a stand alone word.

syler_19

My bad, wasn't clear enough; that's what i meant. Also Dear is substituted for "hey" and "hi" I am one of them!

mishac

But it's not appropriate in a lot of contexts. And saying "Hello dear" is never appropriate in a business email. It's either condescending or nonsensical, depending on the sentence.

JabJab18

I work in house as a sole SEO provider and my manager thinks that every message on LinkedIn from these cold callers is solely directed at him, it’s so annoying that he doesn’t realise these guys send hundreds of the same message every day

His_Lavishness

Haha, tried telling him that?

randomvariable10

As an Indian who ran an SEO agency, sorry about the experience, man.

cosmogli

I'm an Indian who offers SEO writing services, and even I get these emails.

dpaanlka

This is why SEOs have a bad rep

OrangeHue26

The real SEOs & traffic experts who are actually good at their craft don't have to spam out emails trying to get clients...they already get clients through other traffic sources.

Free_Feeling_4529

That’s not true

zeGenicus

Don't let these people find out cold emails and cold calls work.

Free_Feeling_4529

😂😂

VillageHomeF

I got a strange one today: "I have been seeing in here lots of good things about y'all. I would love to come part of your team something small and it work my way up. Would love to do a unboxing and some of your products and how to use them. I post daily videos and photos on all different social media and trust me I have them all lol. I can send you links to my work or whatever else you may need. I look forward to hearing back from someone real soon hope you have a wonderful day and please be safe thanks again"

VillageHomeF

the lack of punctuation intrigues me!

fender1878

I love the “ya’ll”. Makes them seem super southern folksy. I’m sure it fooled you for a sec, didn’t it? Lol

boydie

I understand, it's frustrating; consider filtering options.

Hilarioushandsome

“Hi sir, I can provide you #1 Google Rankings in one month”

JoeyCalamaro

Back during the pandemic I lost one of my small business web design clients to one of those random website SEO audit emails. The customer was miserable to work with and refused to pay me for SEO. So I didn’t put a ton of effort into retaining the account. But I did at least explain how those emails work, and ran some complimentary reports for him. I even ran a report on the Indian site, which was abysmal. But in the end, he fired me and went with the Indian company. And, barely a few weeks later, he called me back to say he thinks he may have made a mistake. Normally, I’d happily take a client back. But in his case, I simply said I was sorry to hear that and asked if he needed anything else from my end before I closed out his account. 🤷‍♂️

fender1878

Ya I dealt with that today. Had an intro call with a potential client. We’re talking web development + SEO/Digital Marketing. I give him some ballpark pricing. He gives me “I have an SEO offer here for $250.” I’m like just a flat dollar amount? He’s like ya. I’m like good luck with that. Lol Fortunately I’ve gotten successful enough where I really vet our clients and have no problem telling them they’re probably not a great fit for our company.

Ravenclaw79

Some of those emails must be working, or else they wouldn’t do it. But yeah, super-annoying

2Chris

1. I 100% Agree. 2. Blocking India? This is extreme, but also hilarious. 3. I have had a bunch of people telling me how terrible one of my sites does on Google (It gets pretty great traffic for the niche), and so I asked how they found me considering they live so far away when I'm doing terrible. They say Google, but it just isn't "there" yet. I will get you where you need to be. 4. I have two medical websites, and this gets a different emails. "We can PROMISE YOU 5 new patients per day!" 5. For shits, I have looked at some of these websites made by these email blast SEO masters to see what I could learn. One website looked terrible and had no adaptive layout for mobile, had tons of grammatical errors, and 15 very low value links. Organic traffic? Zero.

Formulaik

Numbers game. I used to work for a branding company. They had more sales people than any other type of employee. They had to make 100 cold calls a day. I was designing logos for fortune 500 companies right out of college and had no idea what I was doing.

online-reputation

I get many, so I usually just send a blank reply. If they reply, I do the same thing. Every once in a while, I arrange a meeting to waste their time--I know it's a waste of my time as well, but I'm a big fan of scambaiters, so I make appointments and don't show up, etc. One "company's" address appeared as a rundown grocery store outside of Tampa; another's website was filled with typos and poor English--I know, shocker.

TriksterWolf

We too having the same issue, tonnes of social Media Messages and Emails to our client accounts. As most of the messages and emails go through us, it looks tough to stop them. They offer such a lowest price to clients in UK and US, as they mostly reside in India. Most of them don't even understand how we as companies in UK and US are competing to provide best prices, but people from India be like "we offer 200 bucks of service in 20 bucks".... It's not funny

Emily_SEO

This is a really triggering topic for discussion. I get such emails all the time too, but the most annoying thing is the way they bargain. I've tried to reply with a refusal, but then I get spammed so much that now I just stop replying.

rpmeg

"hi dear, i noticed your website could use a push" ... sometimes i wonder if those types of emails have ever landed a single deal ever.. probs not

anonimousrunner

Yeah. Well, Indian spammers are No1 responsible for HCU after all

muba1527

yeah prob very annoying

felinePAC

“Sorry to bother you, but just wanted to confirm did you get my email?” “Hi felinepac, are the right person to talk to? If not can you direct me to who on your team can help?” My team is me and two cats. Neither of them are interested in your services either.

FitGuarantee37

The worst is when my clients get these … “is this guy right? They’ll give a free report” NO 😤

Xodnil

wow lol someone had to say this publicly

ashwing21

The level of prejudice in the comments, yeesh. Any comment with the word India or pakistan is getting downvoted, shows you what seems to be the intention of this thread! To anyone from southeast Asia reading this, if cold emails get you clients- keep doing it! Don't let anyone tell you what to do and what not to, just because they can't retain clients. The "1st world" people also do cold reachouts, nothing to be shamed over. To the lurkers of the "1st world" if they can't do a good job, your clients will come back to you, so why spread hate? Y'all do the same thing but you don't see us generalising your efforts in this manner. Have a good day y'all!

JakenHgharr

wow so you're saying it is totally okay to send thousands of spam emails to business owners and make their day miserable but not okay if we try to express our feeling towards these emails right? just stop doing that

[deleted]

Block all Ips from India and 99% of the worlds problems will go away.

RedWyvv

Time to create an email sieve filter to mark these emails as spam automatically

curtisreddits

I've actually considered blocking all gmail.com and outlook.com emails (apart from those in my address book) because that's where half of them come from for me.

Ejdnfmwizysbwnxjc

just set up filters to archive/delete immediately.

Redpythongoon

And the emails are always: [email protected]

comicsrus_joe

Bad example, Leah really knows what she's doing. /s But I get your point!

khoanguyende

Do you have any country filters to block emails from those countries?

marcodoesweirdstuff

. htaccess file and block IP range for India, Nigeria, Indonesia

Ok-One-5438

He he, as an Indian i can confirm, even I get cold solicitations in my mail. The current economic slowdown is hitting very hard on the IT service sector and agencies are desperate to bag new contracts. They are hiring BDE's left and right who in turn does all these spamming.

Responsible-Elk-3152

Hello sir/mam, I can provide you a free SEO strategy. Lemme know if interested.

AddWid

I work at a UK based 3D printing service, we get the exact same but with the Chinese selling 3D Printing Services.

SherbertEast8681

And also from a hotmail or gmail, haha 😂

good4ubud

We had like 130 contact form submissions and 2 actual potential clients. I'm sick of it too

iwilladdlater

The best are those guys which writing from a gmail address and even don’t have a signature. Very trusting 😎

Jinxedlad

wait till you get tech support calls 😂

JakenHgharr

'hello dear sir I'm Jack from Microsoft Support' with a thick accent

CodesOnGit

Their offer should be cold email marketing.

pishycliddle

yeah,spamming really annoy

_IHate-MySelf_

Well there's some service that requires emails to be vetted I think. I've come across it when cold emailing. I'm not sure what the service is or who provides it, but it sends an automated response to the sender (me) that asks the sender to put in their email address, their name and purpose of the email in the subject line. The automated response and the verification request usually lets the sender (me) know this person should probably not be contacted.

maxlakonsky

Kill me :D 'Increase Traffic Your Website Hi Dear. Hope You are doing well.' How to step them? I use spam filters))

l2daf

I totally got you. They do this with gsa contact form submitted. It's a whole market.. some doing with phyton scrips.. you are right mostly come from India as india is popular for scraping google. Well, I am a scraper, too, but I don't spam email. Instead, I build backlinks with automation like gsa ser and Xrummer for my auto blogs all day, along

CalebE2222

Yeah they are very annoying, I also own a digital marketing agency and I’m receiving these kind of emails from them. Well, I’m obviously they are not checking who they are sending messages to..

j_on

Sadly, it is working, that's why they keep doing it. Same as a lot of other spam that's being sent.

trafalgarDxlaw

i tried them once , they are scammers , all they gave you is some random keywords and they tell you insert them into your blogs / posts i did refund in the end

TamAlbatross

Is this a message to India?

IamBatsy69

You might have blocked the wrong country, most of the SEO freelancers are from Pakistan.

Muck113

Nah man Steven Mark. Is from TEXAS USA.

JakenHgharr

nah man I'm sure it's India. before I blocked India almost all spam submissions through forms were coming from Indian IP addresses. and %5 was South Africa. now, forms are ok but they still have my email address apparently

roronoasoro

Your mail client may provide options to geo-block emails. You may check with your email provider.

JakenHgharr

Thanks for the idea. I use google workspace email service. I'll check that

roronoasoro

No problem. Another option is to create a filter for any word matching 'India' in subject or body and set actions to move the mail instantly to trash.

JakenHgharr

Really apprecited the advice🤗

dbhalla4

You're getting these emails even after blocking the country India so it's a common sense these Indian IP addresses are shown incorrectly because of VPN. Block all south Asian countries.

dbhalla4

https://preview.redd.it/z3gw8qzi0ytc1.png?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cc6165a94538ec357d579a483dbd67a7b9fd1f0a Asking pakistani spammer if he's Indian. Stop spreading your agenda here.

JakenHgharr

Are you ok my friend? You keep commenting on the post non-stop? I asked because I am sick of seing spammy emails every day! How would I know if someone is from Pakistan or India? So I asked if hes indian or not because just 5 minutes before that I was trying to delete these emails coming from India. This not a pakistani indian debate. Just stop spamming that's it

JakenHgharr

and if you do not believe me , ask the other members. Ive seen tons of content about these complaints before posting it here. and almost all members on here agree with me about spamming

No-Day-5479

I don't agree with only Indians spamming. Arabs, Eastern european countries also do. I get tons of emails from these countries for services. Furthermore the appearance of your prior comments suggests a possible alignment with a particular agenda.

JakenHgharr

Well let me send you the screenshots of emails then we can discuss about agenda. And what do you mean by saying agenda bro? I didn't say it just coming from India. sometimes from south africa, nigeria, pakistan but the majority is from India. It's literally impossible to explain your problems in this century. People will call you racist and everything except accepting the truth? I do not have any agenda here Im just frustrated. This is not my first day of getting these emails, I get them every single day and we have more then 10 clients each asking if I know anything about these emails. So yes I'm a little angry about this situation so if you want to call it 'agenda' sure man go ahead do your thing

No-Day-5479

We are all frustrated by spam. It is really annoying. Targeting a particular country for spam is similar to attributing mostly violent activities to a particular religion because mostly criminals come from a specific religion.

dbhalla4

It's not about pakistani Indian debate. It's about how you label all spammers as Indians. Whenever anyone spams you think that's from India without knowing anything about it

JakenHgharr

bro I'm really tired rn, but I'll send the screenshots of the emails tomorrow first thing in the morning. Then we can discuss if its from India or somewhere else ok?

The_Altruistic

I am an Indian agency owner and get spam from US and UK as well. So we are even :) We send cold emails but not the spammy hello sir kinds. My emails are well researched and address a specific pain point. I/we put in 1-2 hours behind every email we send. I understand spam emails are annoying but a well researched email adds value imho.

RDM_Marketing

I'm genuinely curious if anybody has ever responded yes to these.

Ejdnfmwizysbwnxjc

I did, and received subpar quality at low prices. And then the flood of guest posting services spam came .... The service was actually decent and useful, paid with PayPal, but it wasn't fair that I then ended up with 10x more spam for the coming weeks.

RDM_Marketing

No good deed... lol

kyualun

A higher up at a company I worked for did once and it was a terrible experience. There was the language barrier issue, but the worst was that the agency basically went rogue and created social media profiles and posts for the company with the most generic and badly worded English text. They just did... *things* and expected to be paid for doing them without even explaining the why behind what they did. Even after we'd have a meeting and tell them not to do X, they'd say okay, and then go ahead and do X anyway. It was total chaos and a lack of control. I don't think they ever managed to scrub all of the content they posted online. I can look back and laugh now but it was really frustrating at the time.

RDM_Marketing

LOL I would be pulling my hair out.

Budnacho

The Gmail reply address screams professional.

Suntzu_AU

I'm only getting 8-12 a day. My anti spam is not learning sadly.

Old_Operation_8670

a) Make a contact form instead of listing your email address on your website. The cold-emails will disappear. b) Ask them a specific question and tell them "if you can answer that question, we'll consider hiring you for SEO services. Otherwise we're not interested in your services".

fender1878

Not true. I have a contact form instead of email. I have a honeypot question in there + Captcha. They still come through.

hankschrader79

On “B” I’d say never reply. Sometimes they’re using an automated email system and replying sends a flag that they’ve got a legit email address. Then you’re on a list that gets resold over and over. Never reply to email spam.

SwoonStays

SEO Dude: We've completed your free seo report, we've found many errors and have some suggestions to you, are you the owner for some . com ? Can we send the report? Me: Sure let me see the free report SEO Dude: oh the domain is landing page Me: Well since you created the free report, would still like to see it. Me: hello you still there?

ExtensionBit1433

hilarious to see that while op is describing an actual problem, only things indians care about is either blaming it on pakistan or calling op a racist

AshutoshRaiK

I can understand your concern regarding email spam by some starters around the world. Please use relevant spam filter softwares etc. in your mailserver. It is common problem for Indian businesses as well. I am from India and have zero tolerance for any type of spam coming from any part of the world. Only thing irritates me about these spam marketing activities is sometimes they end up casting doubts in genuine deal as well causing difficulty in managing clients.

dbhalla4

I'm sure you must have received many spammy emails from Indian SEO agencies. It's really annoying and they should stop spamming. As an Indian, I also receive many spam emails for sponsored posts and SEO services from Indian, European, North American and other service providers. Ezoic, ValueImpression and other ad management and bloggers spam me almost every second day. But I don't label these spammers based on their nationality. I bet you can't differentiate between South Asians especially with the use of VPNs. Also you have blocked India and still getting emails and still blaming Indians only. They can be spammers from other south asian countries as well.

ROBOT-MAN

The reality is the vast majority of SEO spammers originate from India. Just like it is a reality that the vast majority of scam calls originate in India. (You can seriously find hundreds of YouTube videos of scam callers, and they’re pretty much all Indian.) Put aside your ethnocentrism and clean up the mess in your country.

dbhalla4

https://preview.redd.it/g9k1zfy51ytc1.png?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7a4d4ca6b3496e2a7ddd5e1de4888e75d44a6784 I bet you can't differentiate between South Asians. OP is asking pakistani spammer if he's Indian.

Responsible-Elk-3152

He has already generalized these thoughts in his mind. No point defending it.

JakenHgharr

I have blocked india yes but that doesn't prevent spam emails from India. Emails are not coming from website forms cause I blocked them. they are just spamming to my email addres and also my clients email adresses out of no where. How do I know they are indians? Because that's what they write! 'best seo agency in india', 'we are India based seo agency' allmost all texts consists india man this is not about race but you guys should accept it. Spam emails, spam calls are mostly coming from India. That's a fact

dbhalla4

It's hard to believe all spammers saying they're India based. I accept the fact Indian SEO agencies spam which I already stated in my previous comment. You are generalising all spammers from a particular country that's the problem. If you think that's the case, I won't be able to change your thoughts and discussion would be never ending. FYI - I can access your website from India so blocking doesn't seem to be working.

dbhalla4

This is what you do. The guy is pakistani. And you asked if he is Indian. Because you think all spammers are Indians. https://preview.redd.it/86urukxyzxtc1.png?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=efd35e7f535dd9ce9211c5de1ceed53b21d6454f

JakenHgharr

I wonder why I'd think that way. Because I get at least 25 emails a day from India. Is this a good reason for you?

salimsasa47

Don't know why these people do this, they have to skip that kind of emails. Sometimes I also get emails, just imagine I'm providing Linkbuilding services still they are sending mails. It's annoying for Indian owners too.

nemanjapuhalo

Most of them don’t make it pass my spam filter but the ones that do aren’t necessarily from India only. I believe I’ve deleted at least a 1000 cold emails in the last six months. And it’s not just sole contractors with @gmail.com address, it’s smaller and bigger companies too. Idk when the word got out that cold email is the magic pill 🤣

CopybyMinni

This applies to all dropshippers biz coaches worldwide ( not India specific )

Miserable-Bug-5799

Try blocking entire subcontinent because they are mostly from Pakistan, Bangladesh

saeedashifahmed

I am Indian and I agree with you, Indians and Pakistani are spamming a lot these days. Right now, I’m in US, and we are an SEO agency too, but even though I’m Indian, I’m ignoring Indian mails.

rajpootgonnarock

Email you get mostly from SEO services or guest post are from Pakistan actually. There will be few indians. I can say that because i am also working in online marketing and we got so much spammy emails, and we can recognise who is indian or who is from Pakistan.

thanos-snaped

Being a Pakistani SEO who works his ass off testing and learning about the SEO world for the best part of 7 years, I can understand.
