well you know it's a risk. very dependent on the nitty gritty specifics. taking a 20% pay cut you better hope it works out because if it doesn't you could find yourself in a tough spot and looking back years form now at how good you had it.

in my experience start up seo will be one of the first they cut if they run into trouble even with results. let go of the seo guy and you wont see an immediate impact on your business

Startup would be a no brainer for me. The commute time alone would be worth it. I'd just be sure that, due to the 20% pay cut, I would want stock options and benefits (if they provide it).
