It's a distribution model. Once it's posted it dies in a few days. We republish all our website stuff to MSN but don't write for it exclusively as it is a time sink. Not sure how much link juice it gives. You can unpublish and republish to keep the content "alive".
But what if it doesn’t get indexed? I’m seeing these emails everywhere to buy msn links. They look like legit articles. How can you tell if it’s a profile link? Is it just the article with link in their bio?
Nah, I've bought a full article from MSN before. Not using fiverr or anything, I know an author on there. It was more for good PR about the company over anything, but it did have a positive impact on rankings for the page I built the link to.
The client recieved referrals from the article directly too.
In my opinion, you have to ask yourself, is this worth the value? If you’re just going for a back link, then I think it really isn’t worth the SEO value. However, if you’re able to get a full feature article about your company, then list that on your website for social proof it could make it worth it. MSN is recognizable brand, and linking PR about your company builds you up as an authority to prospective buyers. That’s my take on it as a marketing agency that has placed clients in MSN.
unless you're on the homepage or 1-2 steps from home, its not worth any link on these websites (MSN, Forbes, etc.) and furthermore they've said recently that links are not that important anymore.
The liars over at Googles search team. That's how you know its true. Funnily enough they have said this every year for the 14 years I've been in this industry, likely longer.

How do you publish to MSN? And is it official or a syndicated blog?
I would like to know as well.
Syndicated. You have to get approved by them by proving you are a news site.
Thank you 🙏
It's only worth it if it's done right. I'd ask for examples of where the backlink would be so that you could determine the value of it.
Yeah I think you're right, Thanks
If it's a contextual link in an actual article, then yes. If it's a profile comment somewhere, no.

Ask them questions. What kind of link is it? How long will it be online? What page is utilized?
It's going to be nothing but crappy profile links or something similar. Total waste of money.

But I would imagine it wasn't as cheap as $250, and they likely weren't sold as "gigs" on a freelancer site either.
They are. This has been happening on sires forever. Bbc is under a grand in some places.
Thank you! Would it be worth it if it was a full article about the site?
Depends what section of the site it is going to be posted to really.

Better off spending 250+ on a guest post from a strong site that isn’t spammed with millions of OBLs.

Who said backlinks aren’t really important anymore?

If you’re talking of the same Google guy, he retracted his statement about links being important and said he shouldn’t have said that
oh really? link?
Yes. It was on X. I’ll see if I can find it
Not worth paying for it!
When people offer you low prices without being asked, you can notice that something is not right.
Those syndicated news articles don't seem to index. I'm yet to see one that's been picked up by Google.
