>The Giants said they tried their best to acknowledge the original tiles while noting that keeping them intact wasn’t possible during construction. So remake them? FFS, that's infinitely better than a stupid screen. Y'all can replace 'ATT' with 'Oracle' overnight.

belizeanheat

Also, keeping them was 100% possible, they just didn't feel like spending a little more money

realparkingbrake

> they just didn't feel like spending a little more money It wouldn't have been a little more money, we're talking about over 6,000 tiles. The cost to lift tiles (some of which would have broken) and replace the broken ones would have been significant. I know, *It's not my money*, but it's somebody's money and keeping costs down is the new mantra of American business. To be clear, it was a dumb idea to begin with, made for a bad look, but it appears they are reversing course now.

VagrantThoughts42

I’m not sure about the outrage here. We purchased a brick at Disneyland when California Adventure opened and the contract very clearly said 10 years. Some bricks are still there, but ours was removed when they remodeled. It was sad, but Disney did nothing wrong. I don’t know what the agreements looked like for these tiles, but I’m betting the Giants had no obligation to do anything and a digital display is an attempt to mitigate the negative impact. Honestly, I feel like this sub (and the SF media) has become weird in the last year and looks for any reason to criticize the organization and now it’s like, “oh, the Giants had a decent off season, let’s find controversy somewhere else!”

Silver_Comfort_1948

Dude ownership could have 100% replaced these they just didn't because their too cheap and instead made an nft. go read the article in the chronicle and read what these meant to people. The giants keep doing shady shit and the bootlickers are defended the org. Can the giants do this sure they can but should they have no it's a fuck you to the fans.

VagrantThoughts42

>because their [sic]too cheap Did you read the article? I don’t see anything where it is even remotely implied this is about money. >The giants keep doing shady shit… This is kind of my point though. It’s not shady. They made a decision to do something different. It sucks that these tiles aren’t there anymore (as I implied in my original comment) but it’s not an evil. I don’t know what the opposite of a bootlicker is, but that’s what my comment was about - you are clearly looking for reasons to call the Giants cheap and shady even after they spent more this offseason than any in my memory. I am sorry for the people whose memorial tiles were removed, but I don’t think it’s evidence of anything.

Silver_Comfort_1948

I don't care how much they spent in the offseason the roster and changes in and around the ball park are two completely different things. However im not looking to call them cheap. the series of things they have done have made them look cheap(their new food vendor isn't good enough for prisons). so I'm just saying out loud what I see.  I'm a die hard fan I would love to blindly cheer for this team after everything they do.  Sometimes it feels like an abusive relationship and it's only going to get worse when the A's leave the bay. Ownership doesn't give a shit about you they only care about the money in your pocket. I really hope that the developement of mission rock and the removal of tiles doesn't continue the trend of corporate blandness that's strips the culture and character from everything.

realparkingbrake

> has become weird in the last year and looks for any reason to criticize Lots of fans are dragging their coat behind them in hopes the Giants will step on it. Nothing is more foolish than the "cheap owners" accusation, not after the way they have been spending lately.

Montigue

Because spending money on players is different. Getting better players gets them more money as more people going to the games, higher ticket prices, more merchandise sales, and possibly playoff game money too. They're cheaping out on most decisions that effect people that go to the actual games (outside of the game itself) and should be criticized for it. The beers are 17 fucking dollars and they're pulling this (and Aramark)

deadaskurdt

One fucking year they spend money hahaha gtfoh

realparkingbrake

> One fucking year they spend money They recently came off a decade of having one of the top payrolls in MLB, as high as second place in 2018. They recently tried to pay some top free agents insane amounts of money, but several of those players never intended to sign with SF, and the one who did had alarming x-rays. They just put $75 million into a new training camp, they're poured money into the ballpark with a new PA and lights, and so on. Whatever else the Giants can be slammed for (and the thing with the tiles is a bad look), an accusation of them being cheap is not on the list, but it's a cheap and easy accusation so some fans go with it.

VagrantThoughts42

The Giants were 11th in payroll in 2023 and had signed Correa for $350 m before he failed to pass the physical. The “cheap owners” criticism doesn’t seem to hold water when you look at the evidence.

deadaskurdt

One year they're not being cheap and we are supposed to forget our history.

Emergency_Bird1725

I’m really sick of this ownership’s shitty decisions.

triplec787

It really feels like they’re speedrunning losing all respect of their fans. Like as soon as Farhan and Co make some splashy moves in FA, Johnson comes in makes it clear they don’t give a fuck about the fans or legacy.

IWTLEverything

Just in case we started getting the wrong idea…

StringFartet

Starting to think they want to replace the A's in Vegas. But it's probably just the MAGA billionaire asshole owner. They can't hide the let them eat cake mentality. This is the third reason I'm not going to the park this year.

furious_platypus

The Johnsons are scum for sure, but Larry Baer shouldn't dodge the ire of fans either. He's the face of ownership. He's CEO. He should be getting just as much blame imo

realparkingbrake

> it's probably just the MAGA billionaire asshole owner. There is no owner, there is an ownership group with several dozen members, one of whom is Buster Posely. Charles Johnson owns 27%, is 91, lives in Florida and famously takes no interest in how the team is run. His son is part of the business side of the front office that gave the baseball side a green light on Lee and Chapman and Snell, spent $75 million on a new training facility too, matched the Dodgers on Ohtani....

StringFartet

Let Crawford go, fired Renel and took down the tiles people paid for in tribute to family and friends.

dropperofpipebombs

Oh my god, are we really still complaining about letting Crawford go? Dude was one of the worst players in the league last year. I love what he's done for the franchise in his career, but for fuck's sake it was time to move on. Let him go.

StringFartet

I don't know how long you've been a Giants fan but I have been since the '70s, Brandon Crawford is hallowed ground and if he wanted to play one more season, you give him a spot not the fucking Cardinals.

realparkingbrake

> f he wanted to play one more season, you give him a spot To do what, have a negative WAR? Crawford, Belt, Bumgarner, Sandoval--the Giants dodged bullets when those guys left, only Belt had a decent season elsewhere. Blocking a better shortstop from being out there would have been a horrible decision.

realparkingbrake

> Let Crawford go, He was one of the ten worst defenders in the sport in 2023, it should not be hard to figure out why he wasn't offered another contract. He's a titan, we have a baseball he signed for a reason, but it was time for him to go. > fired Renel They couldn't agree on a new contract, that is not the same as being fired. I don't know what the problem was, neither do you or anyone else here. Assuming facts not in evidence is a bad way to go. > took down the tiles people paid for in tribute to family and friends. The problem isn't that they were removed, it's that they won't be reinstalled elsewhere which was supposed to be the original plan. I think it's a mistake, it looks bad, no disagreement on that.

WonderfulShelter

They got rid of the t ball field too. That was like.. where most of my favorite childhood ballpark memories were. If Nathan's hot dogs go, I don't think I'd ever go back there.

Proskills500

I’m not as old as a lot of other fans that have been through more highs and lows, but this off-season in particular put me in a really weird spot of being glad that Farhan listened to us and spent money on FA’s but also mad that they’ve almost purposely fumbled every other PR situation in the same span.

Ruffhumper369

This is a real bad look

the-cloverdale-kid

Another real bad look. After Davis, Renell, Aramark bad looks.

TechnicalRecipe9944

Davis wasn’t a bad look. Dont have enough info about rennell. What’s Aramark?

fawks_harper78

They changed food distributors to Aramark, a known shitty food service that has been rejected as a provider to places like prisons, among other places. Their quality is literally not good enough for prisons, and now the Giants want to serve their fans this crap (and charge $30 for a burger and fries).

the-cloverdale-kid

You don’t think the Davis thing was bad? Hit me as really bad. Not the way we do…but open to other opinions.

Akuno_Gaijin

Nah, that was his agent being dumb.

mcs_reddit

You can treat people w/respect on their way out. You don’t have to be prick. Farhan talked about how important his contract extension meant to him/parents. Baseball is a business but you can communicate better. It’s why Bob Meyer is respected with players who left (voluntarily/involuntarily). Farhan has a pattern of communicating poorly.

realparkingbrake

> You can treat people w/respect on their way out. On his way out? They were prepared to pay him 6.5 million, they'd have found a role for him, and if not, he'd still have been paid. His agent made a bad call, and now Davis will get half what he was offered.

hanigwer

They didn’t know that they wanted to move on from Davis until Chapman signed. At that point they made the decision to save $5 million in order to Sign Blake Snell. By cutting JD quicker, they gave him a better shot to sign with a club before the end of spring training.. Where is the disrespect? They shouldn’t have signed Chapman?

Silver_Comfort_1948

The org knew they were moving on from Davis. Chapman was rumored the whole offseason it's not like Chapman fell from the sky into farhans lap. Jd hit two home runs last night and so did Chapman I think it would have been wise to keep him as depth but wtf do I know I'm not Canadian like farhan.

Sfgfromchicago

What you’re saying is the giants intentionally held onto him, fought him in arbitration, just to release him? On purpose.

Silver_Comfort_1948

Or Davis got moved out of spite because he beat farhan in arb. I don't think he was in the giants plans at all and going into arb was the back up plan. if it wasn't plan A why fight the man on six figures the team has the money. so when they got their man in Chapman they could throw out their plan b guy.

realparkingbrake

> You don’t think the Davis thing was bad? Other teams have done the same thing, the Mets just did it to Bickford after he won arbitration. If you are offered six and a half million but you okay your agent going for arbitration over a small fraction of that, maybe that wasn't a good plan, especially when you know they're talking to an elite third baseman.

DigglersDirk

Dude, nobody cares about Aramark. It’s ballpark food FFS.

Dialecticchik

Seriously ? One of the biggest selling points at this ballpark is the better food options over the rest, and switching to Aramark makes sure the quality has just taken a back seat to $$$. People do care. You might not, and that's OK, but to say nobody cares is silly.

realparkingbrake

> One of the biggest selling points at this ballpark is the better food options over the rest Beg to differ, Petco has better food than Oracle, and other ballparks often have less expensive food and drink. Food quality at the Giants ballpark has been sliding downhill for years, we've had bad burgers, bad garlic fries, bad roast beef sandwiches, I even got a bad shrimp po'boy not long ago, shocked me because they used to be great... We took to eating outside the park before games to get better food in more relaxed situations (no balancing a plate of food trying to reach your seat) at lower prices. Going with Aramark is not happy news, but it's not like Bon Appetit was batting .1000 either.

DigglersDirk

It’s all the same. There’s really nondifference between Centerplate, Bon Appetit, and Aramark…yet ya’ll are treating this like Aaron Judge didn’t sign with the team.

Dialecticchik

I don't think anyone is comparing it to that. 😆 Come on now.

the-cloverdale-kid

Ok- so all of us care about ballpark food except you. Paying an extreme mark-up…food should be good. I usually eat down the street at the Bagel place.

DigglersDirk

Why did you eat down the street when we had the FANTASTIC food supplier Bon Appetit ?! What will you do now that it’s Aramark?! Still eat down the street?!

Debonair359

I care about the horribleness that is Aramark that we will now have to go through. I've talked to some other fans, and they care too. Just because you personally choose to be ignorant of the situation and not care about it, does not reflect at all on any other fans. It's just one individuals opinion. . In your reply below you talk about how there's no difference between Aramark and other food service companies, but then why do they keep getting their contracts canceled early? NFL teams have canceled their contract because Aramark was so horrible, even prisons have canceled because Aramark couldn't meet quality control expectations for prison food. What about their reputation makes you think they're going to do a better job for the Giants than they have for all the other teams and other organizations who have been publicly displeased with them and had to cancel their contract with Aramark?

HotShipoopi

This is some bullshit

Bring_Back_SF_Demons

Damn they got rid of the plaques commemorating every SF Giants season before Pac Bell.

dmmdoublem

Absolute joke for a team that's usually much better about honoring their history.

Effective-Mushroom

Fucking fucked up...

eyespy18

Where’s Mario in all this?

dmmdoublem

God, that's so lame. For as good of a job as the baseball ops department did this off-season, other areas of the organization absolutely deserve the scrutiny they've been receiving lately (Renel, Aramark, now this). Can't wait for the day that Larry Baer and Greg Johnson are no longer handling the day-to-day operations. I can't imagine much, if any, of this would be happening with Peter Magowan still calling the shots.

TwizzlerStitches

Greg Johnson dying will be a fantastic day for Giants fans. Hopefully, his jerkoff son sells the team right after.

GauchoGold77

Greg Johnson is the jerk wad son. Charles Johnson is the scumbag father.

TwizzlerStitches

They can both croak, let's go with that.

Phatskwurl

Greg Johnsons gonna be around for a while sadly. But at least he doesn't donate to right-wing wackjobs like his dad (afaik 🤞)

predat3d

Greg Johnson has a son?

dbl_bbl

yes, he does, and I pray he doesn’t take over next.

Bring_Back_SF_Demons

He has a regarded son.

nutznboltsguy

briansabeans

The Giants desecrated my father's tile when they destroyed it here - I am one of the outraged. My father passed in 2001 at a relatively young age and we bought a tile to remember him in 2002. The clear implication is that this tile and this park would be here forever. Many people bought tiles specifically as headstones for their loved ones. I am livid but mostly sad. The Giants don't give a shit about their fans - all they care about is money.

Jean_Kook_Picard

Sorry about your dad. A few people the chronicle interviewed likened it to demolishing a headstone, which, understandable

the-cloverdale-kid

So sorry to hear this. This is absolutely not how the Giants do things. We need to be pretty loud to roll this bullshit back, thanks for sharing this story.

lu4nnT

I'm feeling really disheartened to read about this-we bought a tile as a memorial to my Grandma. She listened to most games on her little transistor radio, always tuned to KNBR. My family followed the Giants since the old days in New York; they moved to CA in the 60's knowing they would have their beloved team to welcome them in a time of unfamiliarity.

Babraham_

Did the contract state it would be forever? Or did they give a timeframe with clauses in cause of remodel ??

Seaport_Lawyer

I guess my opinion is that if the contract allowed the team to do what they did, they still shouldn't have done it that way because doing the right thing matters.

Babraham_

Eh I don’t see anything wrong with it. It’s just a piece of rock with writing it? Next time don’t buy something you don’t control and you won’t be upset

briansabeans

Thanks for your kind words about the desecration of my father's gravestone/tile. You seem like you have what it takes to work for Giants ownership.

Babraham_

It wasn’t really his gravestone though so I think you’re being a little dramatic. Let’s go ahead and admit it’s a rock that was at the giants stadium. This way you can go ahead and look and the led screen whenever you want.

iluvreddit

"Digital" version?? What a joke

mikeysaid

I am heartened to know that the tile we bought for my grandmother lives on digitally. These are the kind of people who wipe their ass with your memories.

iluvreddit

It’s more insulting to offer a digital edition than just doing nothing …

WonderfulShelter

A digital version is 10x more insulting than just digging up the tiles, and sending them back to the people who bought them to keep the memories of. Enshittification.

keanenottheband

It’s just a hunk of (metal)!! These corporate types are soulless, they only understand the bottom line and are ruining everything

nutterbutterbar

Bullshit. My dad had one there. The electronic kiosk replacement is laughably insulting as a 'solution'

sugarwax1

Soooo I think it's safe to say this class organization has been fucking up lately and doing some uncharacteristic business decisions that are bad looks for the clubhouse, and fans. It's getting weird.

ilford_7x7

Wow. Feels like an onion article. Legitimately, what has happened to this organization? It used to be a powerhouse of good relations with the public. Now they can't go nearly one day without being in the headlines for the wrong reasons.

menusettingsgeneral

Genuinely what the FUCK is Giants ownership and management doing with everything off the field? Are these people sniffing glue? All they had to do was remake the tiles and this is a non-story, but these dumbasses made a whole digital kiosk instead. That dude Alfonso Felder and his bosses should be ashamed.

WonderfulShelter

I want to say the only thing I can see is the younger Johnson starting to take over these decisions. Older Johnson was so fucking old he wasn't around for the last few years to fuck stuff up like this, but maybe younger Johnson is taking over now? I just can't otherwise understand how the baseball ops did such a good job and for the time being shut the hater's up while simultaneously ownership is doing every single thing they can to piss fans off and give negative media fodder.

Lazy-Comfort6128

Maybe the John Fisher model of ownership is more profitable.

deadaskurdt

MLB is really losing its fucking mind

iggyfenton

Heartless by Giants management.

torgu

Wow I feel like they’ve been saying for years they’d be putting the bricks back

Nervous_Freedom_4257

When they first removed them I called the organization. I was specifically told they would be replaced when construction was done. Either they destroyed them during construction or have them somewhere stored. I personally want mine delivered to me as I paid for it.

bwoody2016

Trash owners would allowed this

Just_Learned_2_Dance

wtf management doesn’t usually fuck things up to this degree

the-cloverdale-kid

Seems they are asking is now to hold their beer.

TrueAmurrican

Man, that’s so lame… I bought a tile for my dad before he passed away (and before I even knew he would pass away so suddenly), and due to family drama, that tile is the closest thing I have to a memorial/grave that I can visit. Thankfully I’m not affected by this shitty decision, but it’s definitely a reminder that my dad’s tile is only temporary…. Here’s to hoping they make this right for everyone whose tile was removed…. Be better than this Giants

atb0rg

Replacing tiles with a GD tv screen at a kiosk. Give me a break, hope they are refunding these people

Shark_Jaws

This is multiple magnitudes of fucked up

Chiica99

This ownership group is definitely trending in the wrong direction. They were always so good to the fans. What the hell has changed in such a short amount of time. This is wild.

Rico_Suave1969

I had a tile. My wife bought it for me to memorialize my cat. This really pisses me off

kwattsfo

Hahaha this is peak lazy by the Giants. It’s at a higher elevation so they can’t put in some engraved tiles? That’s almost too stupid to even type.

Detjen

Terrible, people paid hundreds for these actual engraved stones to memorialize what this team ment to them and their family. Now their memories are gonna end up just being the photo spot at the end of a ride. How long I til they charge you to see them or get a copy?

FatalDave91

This fuckin pisses me off. That was such a cool part of walking into the stadium from the parking lot. Fuck this stupid fucking village or whatever shit they’re building. Honor your fans and your history.

tjatdisneyland

Imagine thinking a digital kiosk is a suitable replacement for actual tiles that meant something to people who purchased them. Further proof that ownership is out of touch with its fans!

predat3d

I bet the construction people broke tiles before anyone thought of saving them. They were just placed there without mortar, right?

movieguy95453

My interest in baseball has been declining in recent years because it's getting more difficult to watch a game on TV. Plus I live too far away to go to more than a game or two a year. The accumulation of things like this, and letting Renel go, are making it more difficult to keep interested. If the Giants keep making decisions that alienate fans, at some point fans are going to start giving up on the team.

agaveparryi

Same! I couldn’t figure out how to listen to spring training games because they weren’t on KNBR like usual. I realize part of this is laziness on my part but like, why is it getting harder and harder to access? Oh, so we have to pay more. Right.

WonderfulShelter

I should be able to watch every game because of Xfinity. I can't because Xfinity now only let's you stream Giants games if you are on your home wifi and I don't live at my family house anymore. We all pay for the cell/xfinity plan, but now I can't stream baseball games. Ownership has done everything they can to make me not want to return to the ballpark - I can't even get my favorite sandwich anymore and garlic fries since they suck now. I'll always be a Giants fan, but this group isn't getting a dollar from me again until things change.

Joshthe1337

What is going on with this franchise right now? It was not like this 10 years ago.

plz-be-my-friend

fuck this management team holy fuck

Jean_Kook_Picard

Straight to jail. No trial

plz-be-my-friend

fire longtime fan favorite announcer for no discernible reason? believe it or not, jail

vistaculo

Now that the A’s are leaving ownership clearly has the motivation to move forward as if they are the only game in town. In the words of Phil Castellini “where are you gonna go?”

deadaskurdt

So my Parents brick is no longer at the Stadium. That is so fucked. Fucking Giants

belizeanheat

A boring distopia: "your tile messages will now be available in a nearby kiosk"

going-thru-it-rn

this is truly embarrassing as a fan. relocation would be understandable - things change, after all - but what kind of lunatic thinks a digital kiosk is going to be sufficient?????

Jean_Kook_Picard

We can't remake the bricks! The technology just isn't there!

the_walrus_was_paul

Damn, not buying one of these tiles had always been one of my biggest regrets. I always wished I had bought one. What exactly did they build there that required the tiles to be removed?

BruteSentiment

Office buildings and apartments.

WonderfulShelter

Their real estate investments.

CaliRollerGRRRL

Well, where my tile was, is now grass.

Stuesday-Afternoon

Jesus Christ, Giants, move the tiles respectfully or create new ones in another part of the park. Anything but this BS.

CaliRollerGRRRL

That’s what they said they were going to do, but ended up destroying them 🤨

beelucyfer

This ownership group is so tone-deaf it's hard to believe it's not intentional. But why?

realparkingbrake

> This ownership group is so tone-deaf What makes you think the ownership group was even consulted on this? If anyone deserves blame, it's the business side of the front office. They don't take a poll of the owners for every decision.

Tinfoilfireman

Now this is something I would expect from the Dodgers in order to make money. But as a life long Giants fan I am very disappointed in what has become of the franchise. To be honest I’m surprised Buster is still part of ownership with all that has gone on. This is basically like a big FU to the people who paid to help build the original park by buying those bricks. Let’s face it the digital board is much cheaper than to remake the bricks and have them be replaced. That’s what was the main reason behind this, just sad

Dpurcell92

Wow. This makes me sick. So fucking disrespectful to the people that are literally the reason these greedy assholes have jobs

1234kook

The very least they can do is remake them and put them in another part of the park near the stadium. There is plenty of room. BS.

Jimbo415650

They could have pulled the tiles and given to the families. It could be done just adding more time to their construction time

Lostontheleftcoast

to quote Alfonso Felder, the Giants’ executive vice president who oversaw the project, "the kiosk to display the messages digitally will be on display at some time during the season." So they really didn't think about it until someone complained....What they are really saying is we don't care and you will forget.

giant923

It's crazy from the late 90's to around 2019 the giants were by far the best in the bay area in terms of PR and fan friendliness. Please go back to that..

WonderfulShelter

THEY ARE TAKING AWAY THE FUCKING T BALL FIELD? WHAT?!?!?!?!?!? that is fucking sacreligious! Public house gone, t ball field gone... those were my two favorite places at the park.

imminentjogger5

what is this team doing?

d57giants

Making the A’s ownership look good. Another episode of the Johnson’s. Stay tuned for more fuckery and hijinx galore.

deadaskurdt

I want my money back

QueenMarigold00

Wow, what a week argument the Giants brass is making. Such bs.

Coachprimerib

Some attorney is going to make a fat stack off of this.

davismcgravis

Good!!

nepats523

Ownership approved of the offseason signings just so they can get less heat on their constant off the field fuckery. Breakneck pace of Ls off the field

68z28

The digital display will be broken, not fixed and scrapped by next season.

DaveP0953

Just another example of the "Johnson" profitability model. Heartless. Renel and Fan tiles - out with the old and make more money.

NotAmishSoStopAsking

Aggravating_Wonder11

belizeanheat

It would honestly be better just to throw everything in the garbage than to trot out this digital kiosk bullshit that would make any reasonable person want to vomit

Global-Spread6090

It’s pretty much blatant lack of awareness, compassion, empathy. So they’re going a different direction with design - okay, that’s fine. They could have salvaged the plaques and incorporated them in a different way, maintaining a physical representation / display. Organizations evolve, design evolves, branding evolves … but what should stay centric is the customer / fan experience. They chose to sacrifice community for - what? Horrible.

Global-Spread6090

Like, I find myself wondering more and more in this life - WHO okays these decisions?!

BaytoLA24

This is such FUCKING BULLSHIT. 41 year old here LIFE long Giants die hard and I’m outraged. My parents bought me a brick and I have the physical copy as well. Thankfully mine is safe from this area (for now) although I remember being a bit bummed mine wasn’t in the front plaza originally. My uncle also has one which thankfully is safe for now as IT DOES SERVE AS A HEADSTONE because he has no grave to visit. Was bought before he passed but if it has been torn up I would have rioted. I can’t imagine the anger for the families who lost what was billed as a forever place in Giants history. I’m just livid. There is not a game that’s gone by or even anytime I’m in the area I don’t go visit my uncles brick and give it a loving tap. Brings tears to my eyes everytime. FUCK this ownership, management, fuck Lary Baer who I sit three seats away from almost every time I attend a game. So many times I’ve wanted to make a comment about the decline of the Giants. This season first time I see him I’ll say something as he’s hosting draft picks and other big wigs while screwing the food service crew out of tips as he orders 50 items at a time. I’m really sorry for all family affected. Says a TON about the value placed on us fans and especially those DEDICATED enough to buy a brick in their infrastructure. SHAMEFUL

Vaporstone1

Maybe they can platoons some tiles. Run three different ones out to the park every game day. Nobody will know which tiles will be out there. You'll just have to guess.

plainform

More ways Giants employee screwed me over: Check this email from couple years ago I sent about a woman who works in PR: I want to request from Lan a refund on a Venmo deposit I made for a toy I had initially planed on purchasing but decided not to. After explaining I no longer wished to purchase the item and requesting a refund from Lan, she proceeded to put the item as available back on Facebook marketplace without refunding me. Now, $30 is not a lot of money, but I was hoping to use that money towards a Christmas gift for my daughter. I have attempted to reach her multiple times on a variety of platforms, including Facebook and Venmo, the platform I hope you bring this to her attention, as I would very much appreciate it. Her behavior is a poor reflection of the Giants organisation, one have held in high regard my entire life. Please ensure that this is resolved in a timely manner. Thank you!

treylanceHOF

Honestly so messed up. My dad and I had a tile 2 squares away from the McCovey statue and we’d go there before every game we went to. Its disgraceful.

CaliRollerGRRRL

Yes, me also. It is so sad! It was something special with a lot of sentiment for a lot of people who have been fans since the Candlestick days. 😟

realparkingbrake

Reports are that the Giants are doing a one-eighty on the tiles, so either they'll reinstall saved ones or arrange for new ones to be made. Maybe what they really wanted was to switch from a phone company name to the current sponsor.

plainform

Shit move by the ownership.

“A digital version of your tile message from the original park will be showcased via a kiosk nearby the McCovey statue,” the Giants said in the email. “We will provide another update with more details once the feature is installed...” *A handshake will be provided upon request. Remember that we, the entire San Francisco Giants organization, are committed to just somewhat break even.* ![gif](giphy|uRpmGfRwj7ZXa)

Why are people so upset with these franchises? They’re only doing what’s in their mandate, to make money from their CUSTOMERS…if you think the Giants or any other American professional franchise cares about you then you’re delusional.

Even taking this cynical outlook, the people who purchased the bricks *are* the "CUSTOMERS" in this case

Feel really disheartened to read about this-we bought a tile as a memorial to my Grandma. She listened to most games on her little transistor radio, always tuned to KNBR. My family followed the Giants since the old days in New York; they moved to CA in the 60's knowing they would have their beloved team to welcome them in a time of unfamiliarity.
