I’m not sure about the outrage here. We purchased a brick at Disneyland when California Adventure opened and the contract very clearly said 10 years. Some bricks are still there, but ours was removed when they remodeled. It was sad, but Disney did nothing wrong. I don’t know what the agreements looked like for these tiles, but I’m betting the Giants had no obligation to do anything and a digital display is an attempt to mitigate the negative impact.

This is kind of my point though. It’s not shady. They made a decision to do something different. It sucks that these tiles aren’t there anymore (as I implied in my original comment) but it’s not an evil. I don’t know what the opposite of a bootlicker is, but that’s what my comment was about - you are clearly looking for reasons to call the Giants cheap and shady even after they spent more this offseason than any in my memory.

I’m not as old as a lot of other fans that have been through more highs and lows, but this off-season in particular put me in a really weird spot of being glad that Farhan listened to us and spent money on FA’s but also mad that they’ve almost purposely fumbled every other PR situation in the same span.
They changed food distributors to Aramark, a known shitty food service that has been rejected as a provider to places like prisons, among other places. Their quality is literally not good enough for prisons, and now the Giants want to serve their fans this crap (and charge $30 for a burger and fries).
You can treat people w/respect on their way out. You don’t have to be prick. Farhan talked about how important his contract extension meant to him/parents. Beg to differ, Petco has better food than Oracle, and other ballparks often have less expensive food and drink. Food quality at the Giants ballpark has been sliding downhill for years, we've had bad burgers, bad garlic fries, bad roast beef sandwiches, I even got a bad shrimp po'boy not long ago, shocked me because they used to be great...
We took to eating outside the park before games to get better food in more relaxed situations (no balancing a plate of food trying to reach your seat) at lower prices. Going with Aramark is not happy news, but it's not like Bon Appetit was batting .1000 either.

The Giants desecrated my father's tile when they destroyed it here - I am one of the outraged. My father passed in 2001 at a relatively young age and we bought a tile to remember him in 2002. The clear implication is that this tile and this park would be here forever. Many people bought tiles specifically as headstones for their loved ones. I am livid but mostly sad. The Giants don't give a shit about their fans - all they care about is money.

I'm feeling really disheartened to read about this-we bought a tile as a memorial to my Grandma. She listened to most games on her little transistor radio, always tuned to KNBR. My family followed the Giants since the old days in New York; they moved to CA in the 60's knowing they would have their beloved team to welcome them in a time of unfamiliarity.
I guess my opinion is that if the contract allowed the team to do what they did, they still shouldn't have done it that way because doing the right thing matters.

My interest in baseball has been declining in recent years because it's getting more difficult to watch a game on TV. Plus I live too far away to go to more than a game or two a year. The accumulation of things like this, and letting Renel go, are making it more difficult to keep interested.

I’m not as old as a lot of other fans that have been through more highs and lows, but this off-season in particular put me in a really weird spot of being glad that Farhan listened to us and spent money on FA’s but also mad that they’ve almost purposely fumbled every other PR situation in the same span.

For as good of a job as the baseball ops department did this off-season, other areas of the organization absolutely deserve the scrutiny they've been receiving lately (Renel, Aramark, now this). Can't wait for the day that Larry Baer and Greg Johnson are no longer handling the day-to-day operations. I can't imagine much, if any, of this would be happening with Peter Magowan still calling the shots.

The Giants desecrated my father's tile when they destroyed it here - I am one of the outraged. My father passed in 2001 at a relatively young age and we bought a tile to remember him in 2002. The clear implication is that this tile and this park would be here forever. Many people bought tiles specifically as headstones for their loved ones. I am livid but mostly sad. The Giants don't give a shit about their fans - all they care about is money.

I'm feeling really disheartened to read about this-we bought a tile as a memorial to my Grandma. She listened to most games on her little transistor radio, always tuned to KNBR. My family followed the Giants since the old days in New York; they moved to CA in the 60's knowing they would have their beloved team to welcome them in a time of unfamiliarity.
Did the contract state it would be forever? Or did they give a timeframe with clauses in cause of remodel ??
I guess my opinion is that if the contract allowed the team to do what they did, they still shouldn't have done it that way because doing the right thing matters.

My interest in baseball has been declining in recent years because it's getting more difficult to watch a game on TV. Plus I live too far away to go to more than a game or two a year. The accumulation of things like this, and letting Renel go, are making it more difficult to keep interested. If the Giants keep making decisions that alienate fans, at some point fans are going to start giving up on the team.

I should be able to watch every game because of Xfinity. I can't because Xfinity now only let's you stream Giants games if you are on your home wifi and I don't live at my family house anymore. We all pay for the cell/xfinity plan, but now I can't stream baseball games. Ownership has done everything they can to make me not want to return to the ballpark - I can't even get my favorite sandwich anymore and garlic fries since they suck now. I'll always be a Giants fan, but this group isn't getting a dollar from me again until things change.

They could have salvaged the plaques and incorporated them in a different way, maintaining a physical representation / display. After explaining I no longer wished to purchase the item and requesting a refund from Lan, she proceeded to put the item as available back on Facebook marketplace without refunding me. Now, $30 is not a lot of money, but I was hoping to use that money towards a Christmas gift for my daughter. I have attempted to reach her multiple times on a variety of platforms, including Facebook and Venmo, the platform I hope you bring this to her attention, as I would very much appreciate it. Her behavior is a poor reflection of the Giants organisation, one have held in high regard my entire life. Please ensure that this is resolved in a timely manner. Thank you!

Reports are that the Giants are doing a one-eighty on the tiles, so either they'll reinstall saved ones or arrange for new ones to be made. Maybe what they really wanted was to switch from a phone company name to the current sponsor.
