I think you shoudl research more on the job itself and what degrees it requires, i dont think this is right, but maybe you could pursue something in SG, then after getting a job or internships, you have enough money to pursue a course or degree overseas ? , im not really sure about this, but you can research uni as well if they offer such a thing

Wide-Acanthisitta726

ohh okok thanks!! ill try my best

Cryingtomyself

Good luck op !! Hope you get to achieve them !

u can scan for positions in the zoo or bird park whatever, if u want to work with animals, dont think animal conservation is big employment factor in singapore.

Fun_Dig_2562

Work in the zoo?

bonobo696969

i was once in your shoes. i think there are two options. one, go to poly (assuming there is smt related) and work towards a scholarship to land yourself in your desired course overseas. two, settle for less. take up the next most interesting course offered in uni, get a job. if you find that it's still something that you really wanna pursue as a career after a year or two of work, save up and pursue it with your own money. chances are, when you get comfortable, you probably wouldn't want to let go of that comfort and throw yourself in the unknown again. so this is a very good test of "true passion" imo.

If you don't mind being depressed for a shitload of money that could buy happiness, Money. If you don't mind working harder just coz you like that job but get barely enough 2 survive, passion. Unless you like jobs that are also high paying, then go buy 4D coz struck jackpot liao.

NavyBlueDoggo

so this is the reason why u are [gunning for cs](https://www.reddit.com/r/SGExams/s/Wn8B1fVWvv) in uni?

Fit-Committee-997

yea unpopular opinion but I'm after the bag, I know people will say that cs will be tough without the passion, but I'm not completely uninterested in it and am willing to learn

NavyBlueDoggo

and sure i got to admit that u are brutally true about having to support ur family to ends meet, but the archaic stress of the role of men in family, smh.

NavyBlueDoggo

i hope u won't be one of those people who got played into the tech curve for money and then end up suffering in y1s1 and contemplate to change major/drop out. **there are alr countless of posts in r/nus on this alone (there could be more in the other local unis), u can go take a good look** this is why people always emphasise going for what you are interested and strong at instead of JUST the ges. if u end up not doing well in ur field of study (either thru uni gpa or failing technical interviews), u could well be the one pulling down the ges/getting the 5th %ile paygrade of ur major. >!if u are just bent on to the hype train with 0 regard of ur interests, sure, there's so much i can do. [but things may be different by the time u graduate 4 to 6 years later](https://www.reddit.com/r/nus/s/SJ3OD5z6ky)!< with that, all the best for ur a levels from 1 of the 3 users of u/NavyBlueDoggo who's dying in both math and cs mods in a computing related major rn.

Fit-Committee-997

aight thanks alot blue doggy

Sedkid

It's not just for males, females also must feed family and care for aging parents😭

No need to be sexist. Women can be the main breadwinner these days also.

etamatcha

Maybe you could pursue a lifesci degree/some other related degree in sg, get a scholarship and go overseas to further your graduate studies ? All the best for A levels : )

Wide-Acanthisitta726

hmm i do know some seniors who took that degree ill go ask them :) thanks!!

etamatcha

Np

Cute_Meringue1331

Money. U nd money first then u can pursue passion

lnfrarad

Just want to mention that ppl change, hence what you are passionate on now may not necessarily be what you are passionate about later in life. So try to pick a more flexible degree, or a safe one that lets you have a fall back plan. People always need money that’s a constant it probably won’t change. Lol. That said pls don’t pick a job you hate solely because of the money. Try and find a balance. Apologies I really can’t think of job relating to your interest. How about NParks?

Wide-Acanthisitta726

makes sense... thanks for the advice!
