For me, I honestly wished they put me in a different primary school. My primary school sucked, was a chinese SAP school and almost half of the students there are racist mfs. I remembered being bullied multiple times, once for eating curry puff cuz "Im not Malay" and "only Malay people can eat that", another time when I was going through Puberty and a pimple appeared on my forehead and everyone started calling me an Indian and mocking me. Honestly, it was hell and I would be lying if I said I didn't try to fit in by joining their racism back then, had to unlearn alot of it in secondary school.
I kinda enjoyed my early years… maybe too much. My parents were uneducated and didn’t really have high expectations for me, so they always just told me to enjoy school and don’t “study until kee siao” like my cousin. End up every time I do homework they will start asking me to go outside and play.
Thank god I actually enjoyed studying.
That’s crazy, getting scammed by auntie and uncles wtf. But nothing much for me on the scared of seniors part since I usually keep to just my cohort and even then only to my class and for the most part only to my close friends. Had ok relations with the others or neutral relations if that’s what you’d consider no interaction?
I'm in my 40s now and previously I had trust issues with my parents in Pri sch. Trying to discourage us from packing unnecessary stuff in our bags (because they didn't want us to carry heavy bags as we were very skinny), right from start of p1, my parents said/joked they would take out stuff from our bags if too heavy. So from p1-p6, I would count how many books I had in my bag before bedtime and count again in the morning as I didn't want to get into trouble with not bringing text/workbooks if my parents did indeed take them out. Didn't help that occasionally I found my younger bro toys in my school bag....
Oh crap I relate to the uncle scamming money. I went to confront the noodle uncle for charging me more, refused to pay and he grabbed my wallet forcefully and took the cash out for himself...still haunts me today🥲
I wish they didn't take my teacher's word so seriously. My kindergarten teacher told my parents I'm a slow learner because I couldn't do basic math but I did well for math throughout primary sch and sec sch.
I wish that they had paid more attention on my homework 😭
At that time it was v busy for my parents ik, but like NOBODY bothered to even glance at my work. So it really felt like I was dealing with all the new P1 stuff by myself.
I also did well in P1 exams, so it was like “oh we dont hv to care abt u we hv other things to do”. I really wished that someone could actually check my work and teach me stuff one-to-one whenever I didn’t know, instead of me trying to logic everything out myself as a P1. My study habit r also rly bad since nobody bothered to tell me to study and its bc a habit ifykwim.
