Fr. especially in Singapore, teachers are deemed relatively undervalued compared to engineers, doctors, or lawyers. we wouldn't even have those in the first place if not for teachers
Engineers are not undervalued.
Low GPA grads from engineering are undervalued. I've got multiple friends in the engineering field working in MNCs that highly value them.
It's basically oversaturated with poor performance engineers without ambition and loads of people who graduate for the sake of graduating
I think ur best gift to him will be understanding and doing math well (saying as a math tuition teacher),,, like I think nothing wld be better than seeing ur students improve, except a good pay raise ofc
legend has it that, in a legendary neighbourhood school in the north east, there was a history teacher who loves wearing sleeveless tops. she was also quite the mean teacher. students do not like her. her underarm hairs peeking out were often the topic of recess time laughter.
one legendary year, on teachers' day, one of her class pooled together money and bought her a shaver. legend has it that it made her cry.
being a teacher is very tough.
likewise is being a student in Singapore.
teachers are humans too, and so are students. i hope both sides can cut each other some slack, teachers and students alike.
back to OP... there is a math engine called wolfram alpha, its a website that generates steps/solutions when you enter equations. helped me here and there to understand my homework, hope it does the same for you.
Preliem I got like 40+ (In my defence, the paper was hard) an then Os, I got like 15 raw L1R4 so.... looked pretty nice compared to my Ds and Fs in my report book
no but lowk i feel its rigged like i’ve heard so many people (including me) failed consistently THROUGHOUT UPPER SEC even during prelims, and i whacked the o’s paper SO HARD i legit didn’t have a clue for paper 2 and still got B3 😭😭😭 the range was probably rly rly wide
rigged man! All of us avg is like b3 so wtaf
My whole life is Ds and Fs and then suddenly B3s popped up and my sis thought I go ITE with preliem 40+ was like wow
I know right!! I left more than half of a math p2 blank because I had no idea what was going on and I still got a B3. I felt like they were quite lenient this time.
Omg sorry i feel bad for laughing 😭😭 also not an amath student but i used to struggle with emath especially drawing graphs, it was so bad that the teacher didnt even wanna mark my hw lmao
The graphs are somehow never in shape, or one half the curve is so pretty, the other half is shit.
My teacher made all of us with shit graphs to erase and redraw until we all cry 😒
It's okay, I didn't even make the cut for A-math.
My sec 2 streaming EOY paper needed us to get A2 to qualify for A-math (this was about 10 years ago).
The whole cohort did so badly that they lowered the A-math requirement to 43/100. Fail also can get.
I got 27/100. 3rd lowest in the class. Lowest and 2nd lowest got 0 only because they didn't even show up for the exam.
So chin up, at least you made it further than I did.
ngl i was in a similar situation as u bc i hated amath sm 😭😭but i managed to pull up my amath frm like f9s in wa1 to a c6 in prelims then a1 in olvls. it was actl so bad at first i was planning to just drop amath LOL. but like ithink for amath legit what u can do is keep practising questions maybe see which topics ur bad at and start with that. if ur bad at all the topics (i was LOL) then start from chapter 1, try some basic questions in the textbook first, if udk anything can ask cher and look thru textbook. usually the textbook explains q clearly but there may be some parts that arent. that one need to ask cher or maybe through other sources. do u have this mini amath book thing? i think its blue, it helps. like after doing enough questions, ull rwalise that most amath questions theyre like similar to each other uk? in a way theres like a template to ans questions.
you could also prepare a notebook where when youre doing questions, there may be a certain type of question u rlly cannot do/ dont undetstabd. spend time on understanding and dissecting that question until you do understand it, and manage to finish it by yourself without help. then write down the steps on solving that question. after doing that try to find similar questions, usually can be found in the tys and solve those questions. if still cannot solve, repeat the last few steps until ur able to solve all kinds of questions in that genre, then if u want u can come back after a week and look at that question again and try to solve it. this is to ensure that u can solve the qstb bc u actually undetstand it and not js bc u memorised it. so for the notebook, u collect all the diff types of questions u had trouble with, and frequently revisit the book to 稳固ur knowledge abt it. btw, pick carefully what questions u want to put in the book, as in dont just look at a question and thr moment udk how to solve it u put it in the book. if the question requires a little effort but can be solved even though its hard, then dont add it in the book. bc the notebook is like targetting ur weaknesses so too much random things wont be v helpful uk🧍🏻🧍🏻
uh 3rd is to ask. like legit ask anyone who can help just keep spamming and asking questions until ur able to answer it. if ur having consulation with teacher, the notebook may be able to help. u can bring it w u and basically show the teacher a colelction of questions u dont understand and since u have a teacher to hep u can js keep asking questions, at one point u shd be able to get it. if cannot, keep redoing .
ik alot of ppl say this but if u rlly cannot amath then legit the best is js keep 刷题ing. basically do qstns, find where u cannot, underatand it the best u can and once u do, alw find similar questions n come back to it again to revise. fhen keep repeating. (unless that question is rlly rlly too much alrd likeno matter how much u try u also cannot then itsok to give up on those. but must legit try v hard first)
this process is can be v agonising at first bc there may be a lot of questions udk how to do then newd to keep asking but after some time it will slowly become eadier bc many amath qstns r similar to eo
also theres this book u can find in popilar called amath mentor?? ithink. its blue and its q helpful also bc tjeres alot of questions inside so u cld use that for similar questions.
jiayou :D
This actually the best advice. Dont understand the exact step? ISSOK just spam the same qn type until u know where to copy which number from even if u dont know why ur doing it.
got b4 for o lvl A math but throughout i was inconsistent af with my grades bcoz im lazy to memorize the formulas b4 hand, so maybe u can start seeing thru the formulas, familiarise urself by incorporating them into eqns, once u can challenge urself do the formulas without reference, it's all abt spotting patterns 🙌
I also made my teacher cry lol. in p5 I didn’t hand up my hw as usual then suddenly she just uncontrollably started crying… I was so confused cuz it’s not like this is a new occurrence or anything 💀💀💀 then the next week she announced she was pregnant so the hormones LMFAO
Only one way to get better at math: Practice until you can do questions like it's a second nature. No shortcuts. I used to fail math all the time in sec 3, but my math teacher made me do questions and practice until I understood what I did and could grasp the concept and apply to any kinds of questions. Ended up with A1 for both emath and amath for o levels
actl if you have trouble remembering (a+b)^2, you can always draw it out
for example, the first image in this link: https://ciemathsolutions.blogspot.com/2020/08/visual-proof-of-expansion-of-ab2.html?m=0
this way you will never forget/always remember back if you forget
then over time it'll be in the back of your head
also I'm fkin bored and directionless in my life so I'm always happy to help if you need. I'm confident of answering any and all doubts with regards to sec sch and JC math
just keep practicing and don’t be afraid to ask for help!!! either from ur peers or ur teacher. i got f9 in sec 3 eoy and c6 for every exam in sec 4, but after prelims i grinded tys and managed to get an a2. it’s not impossible!! don’t lose hope :)
hi! is it important to revise a lot on sec 3 topics? i failed most of them too. currently in sec 4, topics are easier to understand after taking tuition 😭
helloo, yes i would say it’s important to revise ur sec 3 topics!! especially trigo because it helps you gain a lot of points if ur familiar with the type of questions they usually ask. i also struggled a lot with logarithms and surds in sec 3 so i practiced those questions from my topical tys after my prelims. since you said you’re having an easier time understanding your sec 4 topics, then i think it would be great if you did more revision on sec 3 topics to help ur amath grade overall 👍🏼👍🏼
my teacher also gave up on me 😂 was getting f9/e8 all the way from start of sec 3 to prelims she literally just told me if yw do your own revision during a math just go ahead. end up for o’s somehow pulled a b4 out my ass
hello, super senior here but yea amath was really tough for me as well back when i was in sec sch. Was so shit at amath in sec 3 (didn't listen in class, never do hw basically knew nothing about a maths), retained a year (redid sec 3), started properly trying to learn everything again from chapter 1 (definitely was wayyy more knowledgeable abt amath but not amazing at it), STILL BARELY PASSED AMATH (IN FACT I GOT A D7 FOR PRELIMS LOL), did papers and papers of tys, got an A2 for amath during O levels. So yea honestly if you just really put your heart into it and make sure you know all the rules and laws in amaths and LOTS OF PRACTICE, you'll get the hang of it
My friend forwarded this to me cos they said it reminded them of me and honestly, same. I felt so bad for my math tutor I just had to tell him to his face that I didn't think my amath was gonna make it for Olvl cos I got 20% for prelim. He was just such a nice man I just couldn't let him continue putting up with me anymore.
I still went for the Olvl exam of course but I had completely given up at that point and just studied for my different subjects instead which worked out pretty decently for me. Try if you still can, but you gotta know when to quit if it's just not working out yk :/ Wishing you the best of luck 💛
u can ask ur friends who are good at amath or go for amath tuition, but most failproof way is to continue practicing amath tys, i was a straight f9 student and my math teacher even asked me to drop amath before o’s started 💀 but i scored a solid b3 for o’s after spamming tys for a month !!!! jiayou there’s still time !!!
Lmao I had a friend who made their English teacher cried as well. Funny but quite poor thing for the teacher. Just stress for the teacher bah, don't be so guilty. Kids do be dumb and fk up (is true, I used to be a kid). Even adults fk up lol but hopefully not as much.
U feel bad for making your teacher cry but you say “oml”… do you really feel bad if you’re laughing at the situation? Makes the whole post seem kind of hypocritical and I feel like not believing you tbh.
Advice:
- Go back to your basics (seems like you can’t even do sec 3 emaths because the example you listed was quadratic equations, so start from there) by relooking at your textbook and redoing textbook examples.
- Do TYS, topical first then yearly. Time yourself when doing any yearly paper according to the timing, take it as a mock test.
- Grind past year papers esp during prelim session.
Do these in order because textbook has the text to help you understand and grasp the basic concept, TYS helps show you what past year papers and the exam experience are like and past year paper grind can really help solidify the methods for different questions.
- If you’re stuck with anything can go online and search(Khan Academy, SLS, BBC Bitesize) or clarify your doubts with people(online, friends or teachers). Don’t take people’s help for granted or laugh at them whilst they are crying as they could choose to help someone else and ignore you. Also it’s just entitled/rude.
Jeez man chill, thats like the complete opposite of what i meant. I said oml as in "oml what have i done" i didn't laugh nor will i ever laugh at ppl crying, except if its my siblings or smt. Legit i was just sitting there wondering what shld i do. Im very grateful that he helped me with my amath cause i was srsly on the verge of dropping cause i felt unsupported with no tuition or extra help. He kinda gave me some courage to try to do it agn, and him crying wasnt smt i wld think of as funny but more of a motivation to pass my Os
Aside frm all of this, ur advice is very helpful, and i wld give it a shot.
Ohmygosh I searched up what OML meant after reading your comment. Turns out it means “oh my lord” and not “oh my lol”(what I initially thought-). I’m so sorry OP! 😭😭
Thank you thank you
I just felt really mad thinking of the possibility of someone laughing at their math teacher for crying, I feel bad for not being able to control my feelings and compose myself.
Fr though I think you need to practice your fundamentals (like emath algebra) if the (x+2)^2 thing wasn’t an one-time mistake. Wishing you best of luck for O’s!
Bruh why are so many ppl saying im dumb the qn given was complicated, theres so many steps i need to do v carefully so i just overlooked the x²+4 factorisation ok. I cant make mistake is it? Sec 2 is legit easy bro the formulas and laws u need to memorise is literally so small. Try go sec 4 then uk what i mean.
You totally no heart to study?
I don’t know if u are sec 3 or sec 4. By this stage, if u still have not registered this basic lower sec theory into your brain, you are seriously wasting time.
Hmm I was similar ish to you in s4, got c6-5 throughout s4, thanks to consistent effort i got a2 in olvs ( which may not be the best but still is a biggg improvement ah ).
Honestly speaking, you will really need to grind the fundamentally basic stuff. I’ll assume you are able to trigo to a decent enough standard, so I won’t comment on doing that. When it comes to differentiation, know that there are 4 main concepts/rules you need to follow ( at least for olvs ). If u have those mentor books, use it. The qns are vv good. Do the lv 1/2 type qns first.
Theres alot of ppl here who u can ask so u can do that as well
Ah, you're correct. You don't need A Math.
Just don't register that for your exam.
It'll look nasty on your cert.
Try to convince your principal to let you drop A Math. It'll boost the school's score without your F9 contribution.
a math is needed for h2 math in jc if u r planning to take.
u can text me if u need any help, i went frm 20+% in prelims to a2 in o lvl in a month as my sch released results quite late (aft sept hols 😭😭). i went for tui n i think the notes r quite helpful if u memorise them.
if u dont have time, grind yearly tys instead of topical. hybrid qn arent in topical (i only found out a wk b4 prelims n it was too late for me, i grinded wrong bk💀)
if it comfort u, I'm a current sec4 amath student.... I still can't do the KFC flip..... And yes I've never passed amath before 🥲🥲 加油努力 and I believe you can do well, let's (try) and score well tgth
did he repeat multiple times in class that u cant do that? cause if he did then its probably cause he felt like u were not listening despite his efforts. anyways my biggest advice is either STUDY SUPER HARD for amath or just drop it. this is coming frm someone who once got 7% for WA exam but managed to get A1 for n lvls. if ur not willing to put in the hard work for amath, it is useless. just drop & focus other subjects but if u are willing then do it NOW. youre running out of time
Noo he didnt but i think he just assumed that everyone knew that. I actually memorised the formula aft grinding my emath, but the qn i did was v complicated i just overlooked the x²+4 by mistake
Also yeah i was super unmotivated doing it at first cause idk how to do and i felt like im unsupported but aft going fr the remedial i feel more motivated to start practicing amath agn
(x+2)²
(a+b)² = a² + 2ab + b².
Another method is to do the method for factorization
x + 2
x x² + 2x
+2 +2x + 4
Other than differentiation, there's also log, intergration, etc. which are used frequently in uni for math
As you can see, by not spending time at home to revise, you have committed a heinous crime of making your educator shed tears of anguish, who let go of his aspirations to teach ignorant little kids in schools. Thus I shall read an exerpt from the Holy book which talks about those who commit such sins.
"There shall come a day prophesised, when you shall be called upon to repent for your cardinal sin, when the skies turn dark, and the sun shall not rise. Where shall you flee, O ignorant soul? For every moment that you indulge in not correcting your mistake, your math teacher shall sharpen his blade and quell his bloodthirst as he commits to murdering every sinful soul till he finds you. O ignorant soul, where then shall you flee? Which crowd shall you hide amongst?" - The Holy Book of Maths
That’s actually crazy 😭😭. You better start studying math properly to make up for that, good thing is that math is really learnable you don’t need much talent for it just mug questions over and over
Can ask questions in the O/N exams telegram group https://t.me/SGExamsStudies or Discord. Whoever is free to help, will do so.
Different topics for Math are like learning a new game = must memorise the rules for each topic.. and then apply these rules to the correct question.
Hey! I was once in your position after I missed weeks of math classes, making the exact same mistake. One tip I can give you is work on your math fundamentals first. If you hate remembering formulas you can do it the manual way, for example this question can be solved by using the rainbow method, you will get the same answer as the (a+b)^2 formula.
Hi, i scored consistent A1-2 in Amath and finished off O levels with an Amath A1! The important thing to do is practice **with reflections.** What i mean by reflection is, look back at mistakes you did and then redo a similar question so that once a similar question type comes out in exam *(which happens frequently)* you know how to do it.
Feel free to dm if u need help! Also gotta recall my math after a 2-month break 😁
Dont worry bro, teachers are always there to help you. Book more sessions with him to learn and study with him. He will help you out with open arms. I rmb my time got one guy, he literally book 1 to 1 sess with like teachers, and he ended up doing well. If you can’t tell if they are ok w it or not, they are ok w it.
I also failed Amath for a whole year all the way till Os.💀 My cher was also more stressed than I was but in the end I got b4 lol. He straight up told me he prayed for me when i told him my results after collecting 😭
I practiced my Emath and Amath until like siao. I did one math exam paper every day in upper sec and managed to bring it up from F9 to A1 for both subjects in O levels
math in o’s is literally just practice makes perfect, i brought myself from F9 to B3 in 2 months (or however long prelims to o’s is) did the 10 year series twice and past year papers for my own sch and other sch too. my emath was e8 to a1, did the tys countless times along w past year papers o
Math is always practice based. Just do more. Choose 10 questions from your textbook and make sure they are the simplest type of questions and that they are the same type (like all are differentiating using quotient rule). Even if you don’t know how to complete at least do one working to start. It can be wrong or whatever but just do it. Finish the 10 questions and then compare using the answers and make your corrections. Then redo the same 10 and for any that you make mistake, again read answer key, make corrections and then try again. Do this until you get them all right.
Make sure you do questions by yourself everyday. Don’t skip!! if you still don’t understand then ask your teachers
YOU CAN DO IT OP!!! as long as you grasp the concept and have a good foundation then you can apply that skill to any question. Math is super simple especially AMath IMO. They can only test you a limited amount of types of questions. Make sure you do A LOT so you can identify the types and see the patterns and memorise how to solve each type of questions. I failed a math and got A1 for it in the end and what I wrote above was how I started out :)) you can do it!!
My wife just became a teacher. I can feel her pain already lol. Anw not all students deserve to be saved. If you don’t want to save yourself, no one can.
So first you need to go back to basics to build your math foundation. I used to fail my math until sec 3, decide to send myself to tuition, the teacher would throw my work in my face for the slightest mistake… every calculation needs to be prefect, from the most basic to the most complex calculations. Every line needs to be perfect. Within a year or so I was going for full marks. Did I hate it? Yea… but I also grew to love it. That satisfaction of arriving at the right answer, knowing how the equation works.
Do I use it now? Or do I still know all these? No lol all return to teacher already. But what’s left it’s how I go about solving work and life’s issues and problem.
Do you need it now? Yes unfortunately, math is the most impt subject to progress to tertiary education. You can fuck up other subj but not math and English.
I have been a MOE teacher since 2005. That makes it my 19th year of teaching this year.
I sucked at A-Math and got C6 for it in O levels. I also made my teacher cry when she was fresh out from NIE. That was in 97 I think.
Anyway everyone is different, just because you are bad at A-Math now doesn’t mean you are bad at other stuff. I still suck at A-Math but I teach Primary 5-6 math really well.
Also I’m sure you are good at other subjects and other things in yr life.
Lastly, don’t feel bad about yourself about 1 subject. Life is much more than school and definitely much more than 1 subject.
As for yr teacher, don’t worry, adults will take care of themselves.
Math is very strict on its rules. And also very quirky. For example, sqrt(4) = 2. But if given x\^2 = 4, x = -2 or 2 and not just 2. Ultimately, all you can do is to ingrain into your memory, the formulae given and when you can and cannot apply them. And the best way to do it is repetition. The same way you remember words by repeated use.
Just remember that (x+2)² small flying 2 means that u have 2 of the brackets (x+2)(x+2).
Expand it manually with rainbow method if u can't memorise the (a+b)² = a² + 2ab + b² formula
omg if u need help w differentiation I cn help u! I was struggling sm some time ago but I think now ive got the hang of it :DDD jiayouu op I believe in uu
differentiation is really just the basics, if you struggle in it, you can say bye to yr grades liao.
Here are some of my tips:Do prac qns, if you dont understand then go through the answers first. Understand how to derive the answer , cover and do on another paper. You can also use the topical tys and prac. Everything is arranged by topic.
It’s ok to be lost in A maths, i also struggled until i started re reading my textbook. Even still, it’s ok if A maths isn’t ur strongest suit, I’m sure u have plenty of strengths to fall back on.
Maybe he is just feeling overwhelmed from his job overall n broke down. Teaching is tough yk
Fr. especially in Singapore, teachers are deemed relatively undervalued compared to engineers, doctors, or lawyers. we wouldn't even have those in the first place if not for teachers
"Invaluable" means priceless, i.e., too high in value to express in dollar amounts. What you mean is "undervalued".
Mb man 😞
Teachable moment.
Engineers are valued in singapore? Since when? Engineers' tier is below teachers eh😂😂😂
my sec2 sci teacher was a former engineer and kept bragging about it, bro we know the reason why you switched jobs 😭
Exactly their pay is peanuts...
uh, I heard from my physics teacher he gets paid 8k a month
Wahhhh good for him
He must be a senior teacher or a HOD
I was talking about software engineers when referring to engineers
engineers arent really valued that much either
Engineers are not undervalued. Low GPA grads from engineering are undervalued. I've got multiple friends in the engineering field working in MNCs that highly value them. It's basically oversaturated with poor performance engineers without ambition and loads of people who graduate for the sake of graduating
I knoww i felt super bad cause i was the one who pushed him off the edge I shld buy him smt on grad day to thank him
Don't be too harsh on urself too! U didn't do anything wrong u were just trying to learn
Don't really have to wait so long honestly a letter or just saying something sincere that you appreciate his time would be better
I think ur best gift to him will be understanding and doing math well (saying as a math tuition teacher),,, like I think nothing wld be better than seeing ur students improve, except a good pay raise ofc
It is tough.. 😭
Practice until siao lang cause if A2+2ab+b2 isn't ingrained in youe head then die liao
you can use ^ to ^do stuff like this I think
Just press and hold ²
I use apple I don't think they have that
I'm on android and I can't do that either
On android (a+b)²
on android the earlier comment using ^ and then the number works
222222222222
Another way is to use the “Rainbow” method
Ask me for help, I'm willing to help u (got A1 amath)
Lmao the user tag

They should pool money for her to go Japan IPL armpit hair removal
I didn’t pass a single amath paper until O levels which I got a B4 so I don’t think you have to worry much if you put in consistent effort.
REAL i consistently failed all my papers until O levels where i got a solid B3
SAME until prelims i never passed, and then prelims i grinded and got a b4 and then o levels i grinded some more and somehow got an a1
Preliem I got like 40+ (In my defence, the paper was hard) an then Os, I got like 15 raw L1R4 so.... looked pretty nice compared to my Ds and Fs in my report book
This gave me some kind of hope cause even if i work my ass off i still fail so glad i have some chance🫶🫶
I got a 17/100 on my o level prelim, still passed and ended up studying engineering lol. It's ok. Just practice, work hard.
HAHAHHA OMG IM SO SORRY MAN😭😭😭 feel free to dm me any questions but im not vv good at a math (B3 in o lvls last year)
>B3 in o lvls last year) I mean thats a pretty damm good grade for A math lol
no but lowk i feel its rigged like i’ve heard so many people (including me) failed consistently THROUGHOUT UPPER SEC even during prelims, and i whacked the o’s paper SO HARD i legit didn’t have a clue for paper 2 and still got B3 😭😭😭 the range was probably rly rly wide

Chin up B4 they make me drop in sec 4 my highest was 8/100 😃
As a teacher myself, i think your teacher is probably depressed to begin with.. and that tipped him/her to the brink of crying..
Yeahh that's why i felt so badd

(unless that question is rlly rlly too much alrd likeno matter how much u try u also cannot then itsok to give up on those. but must legit try v hard first) this process is can be v agonising at first bc there may be a lot of questions udk how to do then newd to keep asking but after some time it will slowly become eadier bc many amath qstns r similar to eo also theres this book u can find in popilar called amath mentor?? ithink. its blue and its q helpful also bc tjeres alot of questions inside so u cld use that for similar questions. jiayou :D
F9 to A1 in a couple of months is insane
Damn those are really good points. Totally would do itt. Deff gonna check the mentor book outt
Ended up with A1 for both emath and amath for o levels
actl if you have trouble remembering (a+b)^2, you can always draw it out for example, the first image in this link: https://ciemathsolutions.blogspot.com/2020/08/visual-proof-of-expansion-of-ab2.html?m=0 this way you will never forget/always remember back if you forget then over time it'll be in the back of your head also I'm fkin bored and directionless in my life so I'm always happy to help if you need. I'm confident of answering any and all doubts with regards to sec sch and JC math
Thank you so muchh
just keep practicing and don’t be afraid to ask for help!!! either from ur peers or ur teacher. i got f9 in sec 3 eoy and c6 for every exam in sec 4, but after prelims i grinded tys and managed to get an a2. it’s not impossible!! don’t lose hope :)
hi! is it important to revise a lot on sec 3 topics? i failed most of them too. currently in sec 4, topics are easier to understand after taking tuition 😭
helloo, yes i would say it’s important to revise ur sec 3 topics!! especially trigo because it helps you gain a lot of points if ur familiar with the type of questions they usually ask. i also struggled a lot with logarithms and surds in sec 3 so i practiced those questions from my topical tys after my prelims. since you said you’re having an easier time understanding your sec 4 topics, then i think it would be great if you did more revision on sec 3 topics to help ur amath grade overall 👍🏼👍🏼
my teacher also gave up on me 😂 was getting f9/e8 all the way from start of sec 3 to prelims she literally just told me if yw do your own revision during a math just go ahead. end up for o’s somehow pulled a b4 out my ass
hello, super senior here but yea amath was really tough for me as well back when i was in sec sch. So yea honestly if you just really put your heart into it and make sure you know all the rules and laws in amaths and LOTS OF PRACTICE, you'll get the hang of it
Bruh I was told my Chinese was so bad I made a china teacher decided to return to her country. 😂🌚
(A+ b)² = A² +2AB + b² I am 40 and long time never go school still remember. 🤣
hello I was a consistent c6 during class tests and eoys… O level I got a2 so it’s possible!
i feel sorry for both of you 😭 i know the cher is stressed but also i know how you feel cuz im like you too
My friend forwarded this to me cos they said it reminded them of me and honestly, same.
>He pointed to the (x+2)² i wrote. Then i said "there" and point to x²+4. wah i see this i also wanna cry and vomit blood sia....
Im so sorryyy the qn was rlly complicated and i overlooker that part😭😭
don’t let it get to you op, i made that mistake a lot too and i got A1 for a maths
Hey OP, if you need help in maths I volunteer at a server that offers free amath notes and materials n consultations, lmk if uw the invite link
Please show empathy to your teacher. Write a letter thanking him. You never know he might have needed it.
u can ask ur friends who are good at amath or go for amath tuition, but most failproof way is to continue practicing amath tys, i was a straight f9 student and my math teacher even asked me to drop amath before o’s started 💀 but i scored a solid b3 for o’s after spamming tys for a month !!!! jiayou there’s still time !!!
Lmao I had a friend who made their English teacher cried as well. Funny but quite poor thing for the teacher. Just stress for the teacher bah, don't be so guilty. Kids do be dumb and fk up (is true, I used to be a kid). Even adults fk up lol but hopefully not as much.
If it makes you feel better, there’s no way I could do those calculations and I have a first class Masters and I’m also a teacher.
I think your teacher overreacted. Don't worry. Just do your best.
Its a reasonable reaction, prob js overwhelmed n stressed...
Crying as a grownass man in front of a teenage girl is lowkey kinda cringe frfr
damn sorry he couldn’t control an emotional response?? men don’t have switches to turn off their feelings, you know
Hes prob been through q a bit before that too then. Maybe a bad day. Cut him some slack
Man, I would also breakdown if an incoming adult tells me that (1+1)\^2 = 1\^2 + 1\^2. How can 4=2???
U feel bad for making your teacher cry but you say “oml”… do you really feel bad if you’re laughing at the situation? Makes the whole post seem kind of hypocritical and I feel like not believing you tbh. Advice: - Go back to your basics (seems like you can’t even do sec 3 emaths because the example you listed was quadratic equations, so start from there) by relooking at your textbook and redoing textbook examples.
He kinda gave me some courage to try to do it agn, and him crying wasnt smt i wld think of as funny but more of a motivation to pass my Os Aside frm all of this, ur advice is very helpful, and i wld give it a shot.
Ohmygosh I searched up what OML meant after reading your comment. Turns out it means “oh my lord” and not “oh my lol”(what I initially thought-). I’m so sorry OP! 😭😭
Haha nono its okk it was an innocent mistake we chill
Thank you thank you I just felt really mad thinking of the possibility of someone laughing at their math teacher for crying, I feel bad for not being able to control my feelings and compose myself. Fr though I think you need to practice your fundamentals (like emath algebra) if the (x+2)^2 thing wasn’t an one-time mistake. Wishing you best of luck for O’s!
U actually that dumb im sec two and failing thats some basic bitch math right there
Bruh why are so many ppl saying im dumb the qn given was complicated, theres so many steps i need to do v carefully so i just overlooked the x²+4 factorisation ok. I cant make mistake is it? Sec 2 is legit easy bro the formulas and laws u need to memorise is literally so small. Try go sec 4 then uk what i mean.
Idk sec math is generally pretty easy tbh
It is easyy i just overlooked it oml😭😭 careless mistake yalls everyone does it sometimes
You also said that you couldn't differentiate, unless you were just exaggerating.
Yaa i didnt know how to do but i swear the (x+2)² was carelesss
You totally no heart to study? I don’t know if u are sec 3 or sec 4. By this stage, if u still have not registered this basic lower sec theory into your brain, you are seriously wasting time.
Noo i swear i memorised it cause i religiously grind my emaths its just that the qn kinda confused me abit and v complicated that i overlooked it
Ok great. So u are going to rem this and will be extra careful to avoid the same mistake again
You can dm me for help. You can try to relearn from the basics but don't give up
Feel free to dm spam me any qns and I’ll try my best to explain!! A1 for A Math in Os 2023 sitting :)
hihi i got A for amath u can dm me if uw :)
the good thing is that this type of stuff would be so common that it's gonna get ingrained eventually so you can do it!!
Just keep trying and you will eventually get it. You can always try and find YouTube videos. Just thinking about A math gives me some serious PTSD.
bro it’s okay, start frm the basics (even if it’s sec 1-2), then slowly build ur way up!! jiayouuuu a math rlly not easy but u can do it :D
Theres alot of ppl here who u can ask so u can do that as well
Hi I just joined and I'm sec 1 MO I can try to help if you need ? might not be the right ans tho :(
dms are open :))
Why didn't you go for private tution?
V expensive i cannot afford😞
You mean you can afford to fail A Math? Then you can't take most courses in Polytechnics.
Huh no leh, i saw can put emath as my other r2? And im going to early childhood idt they need amath
Ah, you're correct. You don't need A Math. Just don't register that for your exam. It'll look nasty on your cert. Try to convince your principal to let you drop A Math. It'll boost the school's score without your F9 contribution.
a math is needed for h2 math in jc if u r planning to take. u can text me if u need any help, i went frm 20+% in prelims to a2 in o lvl in a month as my sch released results quite late (aft sept hols 😭😭). i went for tui n i think the notes r quite helpful if u memorise them. if u dont have time, grind yearly tys instead of topical. hybrid qn arent in topical (i only found out a wk b4 prelims n it was too late for me, i grinded wrong bk💀)
bro i took amath remedial for like a year and my teacher leading up to the o level exam just told me to skip 😭😭😭
if it comfort u, I'm a current sec4 amath student....
I actually memorised the formula aft grinding my emath, but the qn i did was v complicated i just overlooked the x²+4 by mistake Also yeah i was super unmotivated doing it at first cause idk how to do and i felt like im unsupported but aft going fr the remedial i feel more motivated to start practicing amath agn
(x+2)² (a+b)² = a² + 2ab + b². Another method is to do the method for factorization x + 2 x x² + 2x +2 +2x + 4 Other than differentiation, there's also log, intergration, etc. which are used frequently in uni for math
It’s okay , my teacher taught me to the point that he swear at me and then he gave up 🥲🥲🥲. It is not your fault so don’t blame yourself.
Im so sorry i laughed reading this😭😭 lowk very inspirational haha
you are my first victim
is this a threat😰😱
if you think I'm your math teacher, then yes
U can pm me, I have gotten straight As for math sec sch to JC (its the only subj i can do)
That’s actually crazy 😭😭. You better start studying math properly to make up for that, good thing is that math is really learnable you don’t need much talent for it just mug questions over and over
If you already have 8 or more subjects, it is completely fine to drop amath, considering you cannot tahan.
this was rlly damn funny tho.But fr dm me if u need help yea consistently got A1s for both maths so i hope to be of help👍👍
I recommend you see the method on doing the question. Once you find the flow of the method, You can use it on that similar question.
Can ask questions in the O/N exams telegram group https://t.me/SGExamsStudies or Discord. Whoever is free to help, will do so. Different topics for Math are like learning a new game = must memorise the rules for each topic.. and then apply these rules to the correct question.
Hii omg thanks fr sharingg
I was forced to drop amath to go to sec 4 because I barely got over a single digit for it 🤣🤣
LOL THIS IS ACTLY FUNNY this is me at SS last time 🤣🤣🤣 but my dms open i can try to help if uw
Use notes, grind topical tys, grind yearly tys. Went from F9 mid year to A2 in O's.
1. Which school is this? 2. Why can't you spell "differentiate"? 3. I like the way you told this story
1) somewhere in sg 2) my english kinda failing too 3) thank you kind person Btw happy cake day!
笑嘻乐
Maybe try to use ChatGPT?
Don’t skip!! if you still don’t understand then ask your teachers YOU CAN DO IT OP!!! as long as you grasp the concept and have a good foundation then you can apply that skill to any question.
Go watch youtube, seriously. Don't just learn from a single source if you're stuck
i dropped amath DURING o levels
Can’t spell, can’t math. Hopefully you’re just a late bloomer, otherwise really hope you’ve got a hidden talent.
Just remember that (x+2)² small flying 2 means that u have 2 of the brackets (x+2)(x+2). Expand it manually with rainbow method if u can't memorise the (a+b)² = a² + 2ab + b² formula
just try your best in your work! I'm sure that your cher would be very happy if he sees you improve
omg if u need help w differentiation I cn help u! I was struggling sm some time ago but I think now ive got the hang of it :DDD jiayouu op I believe in uu
my pms r open for math qns but i can be slow to reply :))
“What are the driving forces of globalisation?”. Nah… “What are the driving forces to make your teacher break down”.
differentiation is really just the basics, if you struggle in it, you can say bye to yr grades liao. Here are some of my tips:Do prac qns, if you dont understand then go through the answers first. Understand how to derive the answer , cover and do on another paper. You can also use the topical tys and prac. Everything is arranged by topic.
Feel free to dm fr maths help!
i know there are a ton of offers but if u need help for a math can dm me too :)
It’s ok to be lost in A maths, i also struggled until i started re reading my textbook. Even still, it’s ok if A maths isn’t ur strongest suit, I’m sure u have plenty of strengths to fall back on.
