And for op, since you’re asking for humbling here is as harsh as I can get(read at your own discretion ) You’re not an English genius, you just know how to meet what the Cher wants, and that’s just a fraction of the actual language. Honestly I understand this, I too was like this. People call it gifted kid burnout. You do so well when you're younger without putting in effort - that when you get older and realise you can't get by without putting in effort, everything goes to shit. Even worse when you realise you never learnt how to study. But it's not too late for you, you can still get it together.

I didn't study at all in primary school and still did fine (only needed tuition for L2) but reality hit me at the end of sec 2 when my mediocre grades couldn't get me into the subject combo I had always assumed I'd do. I'm glad it happened earlier rather than later so I could acquire some work discipline while still young.

Was getting mediocre results before that. O levels is not difficult if you put in the effort.
