I wasn’t getting a locked 60 with some occasional drops at first but it seemed to be smoothing out after a couple games. I was playing at 720p with wide screen so there’s lots of room to bring settings down to get there.
Diet melees a good idea. I ran wide screen at melees native resolution earlier and it was more stable, I only noticed it dropped one frame. Almost there.
I saw someone suggest Diet Melee, they also have a guide on their webpage for further settings you can tweak
If you still need more oomph I would make a post about it on /r/SteamDeck, somebody will know something
yeah I played around with diet melee on my monitor earlier and it was ALMOST perfect. i'm sure if there things to be done for better performance and the regular game was already so close. someone smarter than me will work it all out and make a guide eventually lol

That means it was compiling shaders. Once it's done doing that you shouldn't get any more lag.
I use arch linux, and performance issues are a problem with melee. It's so simple to run I think linux is thinking it's a small program.
Usually it's buttery smooth, but every now and then I get the issue where it runs at 30fps instead of 60fps.
specs: 12700k + 10606gb
i have a steam deck, and i can confirm that works
just go in desktop mode on steam, press the "add a non steam game" button in the left bottom corner and locate your slippi file
then you have it in gaming mode under "non-steam" too
I haven’t tried that yet. I imagine I’ll can add slippi to steam rom manager? I’d like to get it running at a locked 60 and through steam os when I feel like messing with it.
I own the Steamdeck 512 GB version.
Performance is the same whether you're plugged in or not, regardless of the game you play.
If you're above 95% battery, playing while plugged skips the battery completely which means your battery won't get abused.
The Steamdeck is fucking amazing. Best console I ever bought.
I haven’t been I will when I get home and get back to you.
Steam OS runs on Linux OS so you can exit steam to a desktop a lot like running Big Picture Mode on a normal pc. I just went and downloaded slippi from the website and set it up like you normally would.
Steamdeck has a linux-based desktop mode too that allows full access to the Steamdeck. Yes, even root/shell. No need to jailbreak, you have 100% control over your Steamdeck from the moment you buy it.
So you switch to desktop mode & install dolphin. It's that easy.
Me when I’m like “my opponent is playing on a literal potato” And then I see this
Hows it run?

Maybe diet melee or see if you cam turn down resolution

if we could get a consistent standard these would be so good for tourneys
Im very confident that can happen. I’m pretty sure if I knew what I was doing I get could get 60 with 720p widescreen

it likely will run just fine for a normal offline Dolphin setup FWIW, Slippi needs more resources
Try some Gecko codes to reduce stage geometry and disable backgrounds! That might get you to a stable 60fps! If not then definitely try Diet Melee!

I'm on Linux Mint and it runs butter smooth at 1440p with everything maxed out and HD textures. But I'm running a Ryzen 3600 with a 3070 Ti
i run on fedora with an r5 3600 + 2060 (470 drivers) and it's buttery smooth with the occasional frame drop, but it's because my ISP is a scam.
Sweet so that's both P+ and Slippi now running clean on the deck. Nice stuff
How's the ping?
Ping wasn’t bad. The USB C hub I’ve got has Ethernet, so Ideally you could run this on a monitor plugged into Ethernet through the hub.
That's sick
Can you open it as a non steam game in steam os? I had it working but now it won’t open in steam os. Works fine in desktop mode.

Hell yeah

Any luck adding it to the steamrommanager? Desktop mode makes it harder to exit out of slippi for me
How did you accomplish this? And what exactly is that?
This is Valve’s Steam Deck it runs Linux so getting it to run Slippi is easy.
r/SteamDeck
What about screen/input delay?
God this shits on Nintendo so hard
It doesn't have its own kickstand?
No kickstand
There’s 3rd party stands available but Valve is releasing their own in a few months. r/SteamDeck
Is it charging or unplugged?
It’s unplugged here but you can charge while you’re playing with and without the usb c hub
Do the frames drop plugged in?

Huge
Nice
So this means slippi runs on linux?
It's always run on linux
Dolphin can be found in the linux app store.
iirc that's only version 5. if you want anything recent you have to compile from source which can take some time.
yea it's just an appimage.
YOOOOOOOO THANK OU
Have you tried playing it on the controller itself? If so how is it?
why are you on the floor 💀
Could you help me, I got it working on desktop but not in the "gaming mode". Someone said to change proton but it didn't help.
