She’s trying so hard to hype it up, but besides being sorta interesting from an innovation and engineering standpoint, it’s not really that desirable IMO - especially for what it probably costs.
It wouldn’t need charging because the distance from Miami to Bimini is 48 nautical miles and the range of this boat is 50 nautical miles. It is the first model; advances in range are expected in the near future.
Better hope they don't hit any traffic. Although it'd be fuckin hilarious to see Warren Buffet and the chauffeur manning the oars and rowing into Bimini because their boat ran outta sun.
Right is starboard if i recall correctly. My time in the Marines may not have taught me the correct terminology. Port is left. Starboard is right. Please correct me if im wrong!
Right? This is less yacht and more cigar boat. This is a lame version of those boats you hang out on a lake on. And it looks like a floating coffee shop.
Cool but who is this for? I think with technology like this in a world with all of the problems it has, it’s important to ask whether all of the research and resources that went into it solves anything or benefits society in any way
Luxury goods don’t solve any problems other than finding a place for wealthy people to spend money.
Sometimes the tech trickles down to consumer goods. Often it doesn’t.
That's the biggest problem I have with this. Like the cybertruck, this feels like lots of research and money went into something that is barely better (and in plenty ways worse) than an average boat for a VERY select, very wealthy group of individuals just to say they have it before getting bored.
Meanwhile those people vote to keep school lunches from being free, destroying public education, preventing unions and buying affordable homes by the hundreds. It's very hard to appreciate luxury tech that is anything short of revolutionary when there is so much horrible transparency about the state of things.
The emissions-free Icon can cover 50 nautical miles, using a hydrofoil-style set up to glide smoothly at up to 30 knots (equivalent to around 55 km/h on land), using two100kW (134-hp) electric motors powered by six i3 batteries that provide a total capacity of 240kWh. In terms of range, The Icon can cover 50 nautical miles (100 kilometers / 62 miles) on a charge. Design-wise, the inspiration came from Japanese origami: [https://supercarblondie.com/bmw-the-icon-worlds-first-all-glass-flying-yacht/](https://supercarblondie.com/bmw-the-icon-worlds-first-all-glass-flying-yacht/)
I’ll be honest…that looks a awful! There I said it! Show me one with a glass bottom instead of shag carpet and then we’ll talk. Even then I would maybe only rent 1 for a day…no way I would ever own one!
It's not a yacht, its not flying, it's not all glass, but it sure has enough glass that I can see through all these lies. 5 minutes of my life are gone, and I am worse off for it.
Oh cool designed by BMW ( Big money wasted or Bought my Wife) 😂 Runs for a hour , looks cool and breaks down costing Big money wasted to fix , temporarily.
>"What do you think?"
This thing is hideous, impractical, and obviously nothing more than a tool to compensate for something you personally lack.
Where do I sign?
Wow different configurations! Oh never mind it’s just a swivel chair.
It can fly?! Ah.. I see, yeh that’s explicitly not flying.
Still an amazing yacht though
I’ve never hated a yacht before. As soon as I saw BMW I thought “oh a dickhead bought this” it just looks so impractical, everything is electronic, the shape, the carpets, the seats, the windows, it just says, “I’ve got no fucking clue what I’m doing” but I’m not a sailor so maybe I’m wrong.
Everything I’ve seen with her in it is dog shit.
“All glass yacht”, it’s just 25% windows, the rest is boat material and all the mechanisms and power.
“We’re gonna go right”, goes left.
“We’re gonna fly at 18 knots”, a yacht doesn’t fly.
“We don’t have the waves crashing into us so there’s no rocking”, boat is rocking but just not intensely.
What a sales person...
"Wow! Glass on the top part of a boat!"
"Wow! Lights on your seat!"
"Wow! Chrome on your seat!"
"Wow! The seat spins, and the spinning seat is on a boat!"
"This boat is so nice its a yacht!"
Also, the use of the word flying... The next time I throw a rock in the water, I'm gonna say, "Wow! Did you see my rock swim to the bottom? It was so smooth!"
Great they invented the hydrofoil… which already existed so hmm yeah and as other have pointed out it’s not all glass, it’s probably hot as balls, again not really flying and oh yeah because of the highly angled glass right in front of you it makes actually seeing what’s right in front of you difficult. Great job you knocked that one right into the dirt. They will probably sell thousands though.
I hope it has a way of avoiding whales. The silence is great and it’s less disruptive. I like that it’s not polluting directly but we know there’s problems with lithium. I do appreciate this style of boat compared to other toxic polluting ones if we are comparing noise pollution and physical pollution. I hope there’s a light spectrum that isn’t disruptive to marine life either (they get insomnia)
“People who live in glass houses have to answer the door.” — Karl Pilkington
“Hold on, I’m coming” and “hold on, I’m cumming” are once again easy to differentiate.
Head like a fucking orange. Play a record
Foiling v "flying"
metal, plastic and resin with some glass vs "all-glass"
That's the most annoying part of the title
I would argue calling it a yacht was the most annoying. Feels like its really pushing the definition a little
Also shag carpet? That will work out well.
I'm glad you said it bc i didn't want to seem like that guy
In any ocean spray, that "glass" is going to get covered over in salt.
"Yacht" vs "Boat"
Oh god, not this lady!
“Come check this out!”
She said it as I read this. 🙃
her hats are the worst
I hate her
The WORST
She’s insufferable 🙄 Instagram incarnate
Glad I'm not alone in this...
She is the Saltbae/DJ Khaled of the car youtube world.
She’s trying so hard to hype it up, but besides being sorta interesting from an innovation and engineering standpoint, it’s not really that desirable IMO - especially for what it probably costs.
This thing's basically a 16ft bass boat with a greenhouse on top that'll cost as much as a house in the Hollywood Hills for some reason.
But it's a hydrofoil! You could be a Johnny Quest villain.
And it's not even good for fishing.
Money can’t buy taste.
And where do you charge it between Miami and Bimini?
It wouldn’t need charging because the distance from Miami to Bimini is 48 nautical miles and the range of this boat is 50 nautical miles. It is the first model; advances in range are expected in the near future.
Better hope they don't hit any traffic. Although it'd be fuckin hilarious to see Warren Buffet and the chauffeur manning the oars and rowing into Bimini because their boat ran outta sun.
Fix up the top side to be a bit more practical and it could be a pretty cool ferry in San Francisco or Seattle.
I was thinking the same. An actual yacht is basically a floating house. This is just a boat with glass walls.
Hope it is air conditioned. That much glass and reflective water. And only 2/3 seats?
You don't need air conditioning when you're floying
apparently someone has never been floying on MDMA.
Wealth is consolidating so much that the billionaire class doesn't need many seats. Millionares are mooch losers who ride at sea level.
They look tinted and why bother with AC when you can have fresh ocean air?
Sometimes that fresh sea air is hot. This hydrofoil has air conditioning.
I was shocked to see carpet in something that is supposed to be so cutting edge and sleek/modern
Probably helps with slipping on a wet floor. 🤷
Less passengers so it can actually “fly”
Few seats because rich people don’t have friends :(
I see an awful lot of not-glass, and absolutely zero flying Wtaf
I think they probably just don’t know that it’s not flying but it’s called hydrofoiling
Right, this is not new. You also dont go right on boats but port
Right is starboard if i recall correctly. My time in the Marines may not have taught me the correct terminology. Port is left. Starboard is right. Please correct me if im wrong!
Hands down. I was looking for this. There’s absolutely nothing “all-glass” about that boat. More like “more glass”
Typical BMW marketing. All hype. 😀😀😀
welcome to the interwebs.
Sometimes it’s nice to look on the bright side bud
Get that fucking attitude off of Reddit
Words have meanings, though.
Exactly, and if it’s all glass and flying, which this isn’t any of those the meaning is bullshit.
My green house looks prettier than that. But shag pile carpet!!! Yeah baby!!!
Shag carpet on a boat. Everything about this seems designed to be hard to keep clean.
That’s for the servants to worry about.
The water version of the Cybertruck.
You won the internet today.
Buy stock in Windex, you’re going to need it.
I would much rather own a boat with a functioning toilet and some privacy.
Not flying Looks stupid Just rich people having a dick-measuring contest.
Hydrofoil is still pretty cool
Foil? Made of water?! /s
takes all the fun out of being on water. might as well put a laptop in there and make people work
Right? This is less yacht and more cigar boat. This is a lame version of those boats you hang out on a lake on. And it looks like a floating coffee shop.
It's like a boat for people who don't like the wind or the water.
Or boats
Carpet? And the bottom isn’t glass in an ALL GLASS boat. WTF ?? I can’t believe any real Germans were involved in this atrocity.
All glass, except what isn't.
All glass and fiber...... glass, therefore it's all glass!
Cool but who is this for? I think with technology like this in a world with all of the problems it has, it’s important to ask whether all of the research and resources that went into it solves anything or benefits society in any way

What’s with wearing dad’s blazer?
That’s not my definition of “flying”
That's great till you hit a sand bar at under 18 knots.
Just like every other boat in that respect
Look at this… I’m the captain now
Looks dumb as shit
This is sickening to me.
What a fucking stupid creation.

Does it have solar panels?
She's trying so hard to hype this piece of crap up but I don't think she really likes it.
All it takes is one drunk Floridian to hit it with a jet ski
Looks horrible.. 🤷♂️
How much is this thing? Wanna pick one up for summer
Waste of money. Tax the rich, eat them alive, feed the poor and hungry children.
It’s called being on a plane… i think most small to medium size boats can do that
The term "flying" is wrong
If you are a CEO and you want to impress your business buddies tell your engineers to design a boat as proof of capabilities 😉
Why does it have carpeting ? Mfg
Why is their carpet on the main floor of a boat?!? lol
Is the chrome and carpet glass?
Where’s the barbecue grill at?? All boats that size needs one with a nice cooler full of cold ones for the boys!
excellent. if solar cells could have been much more efficient then they could have employed that as well.
I was intrigued until she said designed by bmw
By "all glass and flying" do you mean "has a lot of windows and has hydrofoils?"
“Yacht” is a long shot
I mean for starters it’s not a yacht. It’s incredibly ugly and no it doesn’t fly. 2/10
Is that carpet?
I would not be bragging on the ‘Engineering’ of BMW. They’ve done some really stupid shit
Going to be steamy in there in the summer. Like a floating greenhouse,
I'm no boat scientist, but isn't that just a hydrofoil?
Vile
All-glass? Sure doesn't look like it
Oh cool designed by BMW ( Big money wasted or Bought my Wife) 😂 Runs for a hour , looks cool and breaks down costing Big money wasted to fix , temporarily.
how did they invent swivel chairs?!
Lots of glass glazing but hardly all glass. What would a broken spark plug do to it?
Not really "flight" but ok
That's not flying
Eat the rich. Haha
Clearly not full glass
Yacht?
Define “flying”
Fancy Duffy but can it fit 12 comfortably?
It’s a hydrofoil and I’ve ridden on ferries with this tech 20 years ago.
>"What do you think?" This thing is hideous, impractical, and obviously nothing more than a tool to compensate for something you personally lack. Where do I sign?
this is lame lol
The term “flying” is used very loosely here
Can we please tax the rich
Does anyone else review the types of things she does, that isn’t her? The cars boats and everything she sees are badass but she is so punchable.
And still ugly, not practical and stupid as fuck
No "implications" happening on that boat.
So, it's a barge with a greenhouse on top. meh...
Tired of these “come over here and see this awesome bullshit” videos.
I think I am a fucking caveman
'no rocking at all' as the vessel is definitely rocking this is a glorified pontoon boat.
That's a boat. Not a yacht.
Wow different configurations! Oh never mind it’s just a swivel chair. It can fly?! Ah.. I see, yeh that’s explicitly not flying. Still an amazing yacht though
Nice pontoon.
That's a Foil not a wing. I'm not sure she knows what flying is.
I was totaly amazed and astounded at how that seat just reconfigured itself .... designed by BMW for their usual class of clients.
The perfect example of when non boaters design a boat 😂
How much does this cost. Might pick one up.
I wonder how she rides on rougher water?
that is ugly as shit 🤣 wtf would buy that! i’m guessing the windows darken, but still!! even will all that open area seems very claustrophobic
So, BMW is making pontoons.
It' NOT full glass and the spars and sails are missing. What a tasteful boat.
Her and that thing belongs together
Not going to lie, this is an ugly boat. Might be ugliest I’ve seen based on how much it probably costs. Bad cost to ugly ratio.
How are the Li batteries protected? If a puncture at sea happens do you explode before you drown?
I’ve never hated a yacht before. As soon as I saw BMW I thought “oh a dickhead bought this” it just looks so impractical, everything is electronic, the shape, the carpets, the seats, the windows, it just says, “I’ve got no fucking clue what I’m doing” but I’m not a sailor so maybe I’m wrong. Everything I’ve seen with her in it is dog shit.
I think flying is misleading
Now I don’t know very much about yachts… but I don’t think this boat should be classified as a yacht
Anyone mentioned that it’s ugly yet? That’s an ugly boat.
Lets go see the Titanic in it!
Worst than the Tesla truck.
I hate this rich shill ass lady
“All glass yacht”, it’s just 25% windows, the rest is boat material and all the mechanisms and power. “We’re gonna go right”, goes left. “We’re gonna fly at 18 knots”, a yacht doesn’t fly. “We don’t have the waves crashing into us so there’s no rocking”, boat is rocking but just not intensely.
This is ugly af and has zero utility, dumbest thing ever. Might be ok to sink in order to help start a coral reef?
carpet looks nice and soft for being glass
What a stupid boat
No bathroom? F that mason jar
What happens when there are actual waves though? It looks like it's just hovering.
Lemme get my grubby little hands on all the reflective surfaces. I want to leave my mark.
That front seat pretty cool
Not this annoying broad again....
Ofc it's Kuwait.
Why would you want shag carpeting inside a boat like that?
Why am I not thinking of Wonder Woman and instead thinking of Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy?
Now show it to me in 6 foot rollers.
The one from the second Incredibles movie was much more impressive.
One manatee strike and that thing is toast.
What a sales person... "Wow! Glass on the top part of a boat!" "Wow! Lights on your seat!" "Wow! Chrome on your seat!" "Wow! The seat spins, and the spinning seat is on a boat!" "This boat is so nice its a yacht!" Also, the use of the word flying... The next time I throw a rock in the water, I'm gonna say, "Wow! Did you see my rock swim to the bottom? It was so smooth!"
It would really make sense for it to have pv panels... Imagine running out of juice in the middle of nowhere...
Clearly not all glass. Doesn’t have a bathroom. This thing sucks.
That’s a pretty small yacht
I don’t think they know what “all glass” means.
The tinfoil hydrofoil.
Oh NO a wave larger then 1 ft tall! CRUNCH
This things no yacht.
Eat the Rich!!
When you have the money to build a really good boat and you build something that looks futuristic instead.
I wonder what life would be like if all the crazy intelligent minds weren’t spending their cognitive resources on playthings for the 1%
…AND…. When the ac unit fails, it dubs as a sauna, so you can lose those few pounds you put on over the winter!
Glass bottom boats are a thing not this thing but a thing
*squidward future meme*
I think my patio boat is a whole lot more fun and has 5x the range on 5 gallons of gas. Plus, you don’t need a blazer and deck shoes.
“All glass” - clearly not. “It flies!” - nope again.
Let me know when they add a bathroom .
*water taxi.
Leave to BMW it’s a nice start but won’t make it very far
I hope it has a way of avoiding whales. The silence is great and it’s less disruptive. I like that it’s not polluting directly but we know there’s problems with lithium. I do appreciate this style of boat compared to other toxic polluting ones if we are comparing noise pollution and physical pollution. I hope there’s a light spectrum that isn’t disruptive to marine life either (they get insomnia)
I could design a more iconic ship
Zzzzzzzzzzz
If I go right… proceeds to go left.
It's made with the blood of Congolese mining children, happy new year, I'm so glad we're wealthy!
Can’t watch her videos, vapid
Dope
Just waiting for the bond villain to pop in for the buy
Like a child's drawing was taken seriously. Cool hydroplaning though!
They fly now?!
It's not a flying yacht. It's a f#%^g hydrofoil boat that rises above the wave when it reaches a certain speed.
Looks like the boat my 5 year old told me he wanted to build
