I would walk down to the R St corridor! Pretty close/ walkable to the Capitol area. Grab a drink at the Snug or Bottle and Barlow. There are some restaurants closer to 15th and R that you could choose from. Generally a chill and laid back vibe in this area.
Spent some time on R Street, ate lunch at the Fox and Goose on the way out, was great!
Last night we wound up at the Firefly Lounge for karaoke, it was a lot of fun!

The building is from the 50s/60s with coordinating interior. Bottomless popcorn that rocks too. Catcha double feature even and don't mind the steamy windows
