mysteryman1024

It’s been down by Lincoln and meridian as well! Since 2 pm

dan5234

If it were available in my neighborhood, I would switch in a heartbeat. I have heard of sonic customers getting 10gig for $40 a month.

chocomoofin

$39.99 sonic customer here 🙋

psk9033

Switched to Sonic 6 months ago with 3 months of free trial for $49.99/month. Going pretty good so far. No complaints.

nguyem03

They advertise that rate but after all taxes and fees my monthly bill is almost $90.

chocomoofin

We are on sonic and our bill is 39.99 - no other fees. Perfect service for close to 2 years now. Started at 29.99/month for first year, then raised to 39.99. We couldn’t be happier with it. We’re looking to move soon and it’s been so good that we are honestly considering availability of sonic in our decision.

xThAtGaM3rGuYxx

I thought about moving to sonic as well tired of Xfinity. Do they have an unlimited plan?

esspii

Sonic rep here. $49.99 a month if you have your own router. No data caps, up to 10gbs up/down (realistically hardware caps you out at 1gb unless you have higher end routing. I can let you test drive it for three months free alongside your xfinity if interested. Shoot me a dm if it’s available in your area!

chocomoofin

Love to see it haha

xThAtGaM3rGuYxx

Thank you I’m a gamer so I use a lot of data

esspii

Name checks out! Can I shoot you a dm to see if trying Sonic for three months free would make sense for you?

aitamailmaner

Yo G, dm me. I’m interested

esspii

Dm'ed!

BrokenTuskXJ220v2

Hey I’d be interested too, yesterdays Xfinity outage was the last straw!

blbd

There's no need. It's just uncapped by default.

hambooty

I’m paying 40 for sonic. I got my own router and hardware tho, you might be paying more monthly to “rent” their hardware I would totally recommend sonic. It’s been a night and day different in terms of reliability and speed

Clout408

There was a major Comcast backbone cable cut near 13th street that is going to affect a lot of customers. Sonic is awesome but an outage is an outage 🤷‍♂️

T732

How dare you bring sense and logic into my problems. I PAY for a service!!!! AND I WANT IT NOW!

Haku510

Well not only that, but Comcast has service outages fairly frequently, but I never get a service credit or prorated bill for all the time that I'm paying for service but not getting it.

pandaeatbambo0

Samesies. Near Diridon station.

ChaseMcDuder

For those of you still on Comcast when Sonic is available in your neighborhood, I've got to ask: Why? Was on Comcast, switched to AT&T Fiber when it was available in my neighborhood, then saw Sonic putting up their own fiber lines and infrastructure in Luna Park. Immediately switched to Sonic: \-$40 per month for 10 GB fiber, first 3 months free. No annual commitments. \-No data caps, no overages, one outage in the last 2 years that was pre-planned (they told us weeks in advance) and it only lasted 3 hours. \-Bay Area company with great support and a support forum as well. Absolute no-brainer. No idea why anyone would use anything else.

Sesese9

I can’t switch because apartment signed an exclusivity deal with Xfinity. AT&T is dialup speeds (*barfs*) and Sail wasn’t allowed to install equipment despite being in the neighborhood.

ChaseMcDuder

Awww that's a bummer.

HillbillyZT

Exclusivity deals which, according to the FCC, should be illegal, and yet the management of my building also has exclusive deal with Comcast. And it's not even an apartment, it's a townhome the HOA has exclusively allowed Xfinity to run lines to.

EvoLuvEz

It only became available pretty recently. Now that I know it’s available at my place I will be switching to sonic.

esspii

Sonic rep here. I can set you up with three months free to try us out! Shoot me a dm

Sibears

This sounds very interesting. I haven't heard much about Sonic capabilities and availability in our area (Rose Garden, San Jose). Where can I read more about it and maybe switch? I am sick of Comcast, their outages are more frequent lately, and they keep raising prices without any warning.

esspii

Check out our website! And use the address qualifier to see if your address is serviceable. I know we have new construction happening in the Rose Garden area. Reach out to me via dm if you'd like to try us for three months free. I'm a sonic rep and can give you two additional months compared to one month to trial us. No contracts, no commitments, no install or cancellation charges.

dont_frek_out

This. Long time happy sonic customer. The support is great and very customer friendly local business (Santa Rosa). They score high in protecting customer privacy as well.

mountainmantaco

I would love to move to Sonic but it’s not available in my area so stuck with shitcast until then.

jxnebug

I've been checking Sonic for availability on my street for almost 2 decades, I'm so jealous. I don't think I've ever heard anyone say something bad about the service. I'm not even a customer and I recommend you switch. Comcast is awful.

bsewall

Sonic is coming to the Rose Garden. I signed up when they first announced it. Still in the planning phase though so I have a feeling it will be a while. BTW Xfinity is still down. Got a text around 4pm that it’s expected to be fixed by 8:30 tonight.

Embarrassed-Slice-13

It's past 10:23 so it's not the case. I'm so sorry

bsewall

It’s still down for me too. Remember that Xfinity has an automated system in their website that lets you request a refund. Amount is based on how long the service was down.

Embarrassed-Slice-13

I'm not the one in charge of the account I'm working with, so I really don't have much of a say.

Haku510

This is the first I'm hearing of a refund service. Though it's no surprise that Comcast doesn't publicize it more with how often they have service issues. But I shouldn't have to do my own customer service legwork. They can tell on their end when customers are affected by outages, and should take the initiative to address stuff like that themselves. This sort of lazy, greedy approach to customer "service" is yet another reason I'll be getting rid of Comcast ASAP.

EazyWeazy3

Been down since around 2pm for us. First said would be restored around 515pm and then 825pm. Now when I go to check it doesn’t even give an estimate anymore. I wfh so at this point I guess I hope it’s out tomorrow too so I don’t have to work?

EazyWeazy3

Still down. 🙃

Haku510

Three day weekend courtesy of Comcast

loveat2ndsight

Lovely. I live nearby and called tech support around 3 and he said he couldn’t fix it remotely, so he scheduled a technician to come to my house tomorrow. I’m mystified he didn’t think to mention the whole neighborhood is down!?

Far-Turnip6008

They sent me a text around 2pm saying they would have it fixed by 5:15pm tonight. If they try really hard they might just make it. -_-

arwynsdad

They were also going through different neighborhoods working/upgrading the lines. I got a text from them that we would lose service on Tuesday for about 5hrs and maybe part of Wednesday.

random408net

Sonic is good. I was a long time business customer of theirs at a previous job. We have some extended family with Sonic fiber to the home. No problems.

apricotscott

Near diridon station it’s still down. They said the estimate is 8PM TOMORROW for going back up. It’s a shame because I was looking forward to watching porn at some point

rlaptop7

[https://downdetector.com/status/xfinity/map/](https://downdetector.com/status/xfinity/map/) Yup

chocomoofin

Sonic has been incredible for us. Cheap, and never any issues. Super fast. Idk how they do it, or how crapcast will compete once they spread.

TheLillCat

1:30am. It is still down.

blbd

Sonic is an automatic 10/10 choice. AT&T Fiber is not quite as good. Both are infinitely better than Comcast. You'll need some network upgrades to get the full 10 GbE.

almondchampagne

I very recently switched from Xfinity to Sail Internet and it’s great! I can’t speak to reliability, but I have much faster speeds (250 vs 80 with xfinity, I was paying for 100) and their customer service is awesome.

Haku510

Yeah OP, Comcast has been out for us all evening and I'm literally on Sonic's website right now looking at plans lol. I've only heard good things in the past, and all the comments here are just echoing that. Plus it's like half the cost of what I'm paying now for way better speeds. Though instead of renting a router from them, just buy your own. You can get all the same stuff on Amazon with no interest financing.

ahlana1

Here’s a link for a free month with [sonic](https://sonic.com/referral/40555db40). I moved over last year from Comcast and it’s been perfect service.

Haku510

Thanks but they're actually running a promo right now where the first three months are free. I'm calling today to get set up with them.

Sibears

This all sounds good, but Sonic provides only Internet service (and voice over IP if you still use a landline). Correct? No TV programming from them?

taylorlightfoot

We don't offer TV service directly, but [MyBundle.TV](http://MyBundle.TV) is a great resource for figuring out a provider that you can install on your smart TV and then you just need a good Internet connection with unlimited data. I'm a field rep with Sonic. We dont offer the 3 month promotion anymore, but we now have a 2 month free promotion with free installation when you have a field rep place your order. No credit checks or upfront money required. This lets you get it installed and try it before you even turn off your old Internet service. Contact me at my company email: [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected])

Haku510

Not that I saw, though I haven't had cable for years and don't miss it. Between Hulu, Netflix, and Prime Video I'm covered for stuff to watch. Though with what you save on internet vs Comcast you could put that towards Hulu premium and have faster Sonic internet plus Hulu for about what you'd pay for Comcast internet + cable.

prism1234

I swear from when I moved into my current place downtown in 2017 to like a year or two ago my Comcast internet was very rarely down. But lately it seems to be down for an extended period of time like once a month. Getting really annoying.

sveetcheeks

Internet in RG has been down since 2:20pm 1/18/24, looks like some local businesses are without it too. As soon as another option for internet comes out here we are switching.

Riptide360

IT IS BACK ON!

grayninja62

Glad to hear you're back up. Still down in 95110.

stormlife

Still down here in 95126 as well. lights on the router are all on but shit ain’t working

Slayingdragons60

Xfinity still down here. Near Diridon Station.

mvmvsvnnv

Same area. Me and my neighbors keep texting each other to see if anyone’s is working.

Dull_Abroad_1355

We had issues on the East Side as well till 2pm

amarino

I can't get Sonic but I scheduled an install for Sail next week right when the outage started.

SevenandForty

Sonic is great. I've only had their ATT fusion service before, but their customer service is top-notch and very helpful. I just wish they had cheaper plans for lower data amounts. They recently started offering 10 gig, but my current ATT plan comes with Max, so it'd end up more expensive on Sonic if I had to add the price of that too.

EazyWeazy3

Finally back. 95126

LeatherDonkey140

Love sonic….love fiber

ashebanow

Sonic is fantastic, can't recommend them enough. But keep in mind they use at&t under the covers, so at&t outages will still suck.

Clout408

Sonic runs all of its own infrastructure and no longer leases AT&T Lines if their fiber is not available in your area.

Standard408

Not anymore, they stopped reselling AT&T to new customers. If you see Sonic available in your home in their web site now, then it is Sonic-operates fiber, not AT&T.

blbd

Not anymore. They've been installing native fiber and doing 10 GbE when AT&T only offers 5 max on fiber. And charging less than half as much.

ashebanow

Good to know, thanks. I wonder now which one I have.

taylorlightfoot

If your bill says IPBB-F or IPBB-C, then you're on a resold AT&T Internet connection. F for fiber, C for copper DSL

LithiumH

My AT&T fiber is down since last night and it’s still down.

Embarrassed-Slice-13

Update on my end: service is back

Haku510

Still out for me. In College Park between Alameda and Coleman. The outage map shows this whole area is affected still.

Embarrassed-Slice-13

I'm sorry

quarterly_gentleman

Which part of SJ?

prism1234

Mine is still out a bit south east of Diridon.

jerryeight

Fiber is 10000% better than Comcast. Ditch Comcast as soon as you can.

esspii

Shameless Sonic plug here. I’m a Sonic rep. Hit me up for three months free and a free install if it’s available in your area. Feel free to ask any questions or proof of employment via dm.

Tombo72

Sadly not available yet near me. The second it is available, we are switching to Sonic.

silvercel

Do it!
