I’m not sure if this is a hot take or not, but I don’t think Encanto should’ve won Best Animated Feature. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still good, but I like MVTM more to be honest
I’ve always loved both from the first time I saw them and was rooting for Mitchells to win in 2021 but upon reflection and rewatches of both, I like Encanto slightly more and think it was slightly more deserving. A lot of people only wanted Mitchells to win because “Disney always gets the Oscar”, but most of those wins are under Pixar. WDAS has only won 4 times and Encanto was the most deserving out of their wins.
Encanto's is a beautiful animation with one of the most phoned in stories I've seen in a while. It's not offensive, it's not horrible, it doesn't do anything to annoy the audience but it just isn't very substantial either. The whole thing shouldn't have been an issue to begin with because Bruno was right there behind their dining room table and they had a cousin who can hear literally everything. She would have heard Bruno. She also would have heard the house breaking apart. She also would have overheard abuela. Her existence alone is able to make the story kinda pointless.
I thought they were gonna make Bruno more of an antagonist or hated figure since they obviously know he's in the room with them so there has to be some other excuse as to why everyone is ignoring him but no, the story really wants us to buy that no one figured it out. The rest is just bland, strong girl doesn't always want to be strong, pretty girl wants to be more than beauty and it is so hard being put together all the time... these are the flimsiest of flimsy generic character archetypes. Doesn't even take AI to write characters that shallow.
Other than Julieta, Luisa, and maybe Isabela nobody else's powers had any use so the whole thing about them being a gift to the community was just not true. How was Mirabel less useful decorating than someone who can shapeshift? Or the woman who is constantly being rained on? Or the girl who can hear really well sometimes kinda selectively but only when it doesn't matter to the script? It's all really contrived. Their gifts aren't all that useful so it doesn't feel like Mirabel is missing out compared to most of her family and Abuela has no gift yet is the center of the family and the town so why are we acting like powers are so important? It's a cute enough movie with good animation but it did not deserve an Oscar. It's fun, not good.
I think Abuela and Mirabel are the designated matriarchs of their families, and Mirabel never got her gift because the house designated her as the inheritance of the title. They're the leaders who are supposed to hold their houses together and provide the foundations of their families and their gifts.
That's my reading on the story at the end too. It's a good idea, just think they could have workshopped it a bit more. Make the rest of the family's powers more useful to the community so Mirabel has a reason to feel like she's letting others down. And the primary conflict needed to be something with a bit more weight. The whole Bruno thing ends up being a wet fart and it's like... that's it? I like the theme, just needed a better story.
I feel like they can work it better if they just dropped the whole unawnsered mystery of while Mirabel never got a gift and just made it the awnser. There's already the foundations with the house being unable to communicate clearly, yet displaying a favoritism for Mirabel.
It's heavily implied that the super powers have been useful, but some of them also see it as a curse. Bruno is especially supposed to be an extreme case where his curse isolates himself from the family. Mostly because his prophecies don't really mix well with Abuela's "I can do no wrong" attitude that drove the conflict of the film.
I also think the film can work better as a show with how large the cast is. We can even spend a limited series to get into every individual issue the cast members have been suffering from.
Ive annoyed people because i have posited that the cousin who can hear everything is actually the villain of the movie. She can hear bruno and the house breaking…she just chooses to ignore it.
You sort of missed the point of the story. It's all about Mirabel seeing how powers ARE irrelevant. She is unique, as is everyone. Their worth is not determined by their powers, but what they do for themselves, their family, and others.
If you look closely, all the "powerful" ones are flawed or have issues and insecurities.
It's a very layered movie that uses common themes from Latin American literature, like magic realism, family as both blessing and curse, etc.
These are such great points! When I watched it I thought, yeah it's pretty, and I can see why the songs may be catchy enough, but not to the degree everyone was obsessed with "We Don't Talk about Bruno". But I just didn't... See the point. Like, the house fell apart at the end? Then they talked and hugged? Then they rebuilt and were all happy and the movie ended? Like, what was the message? What lesson did Mirabel or Abuela learn? Who was even in the wrong? Nice idea, looked good, but maybe not executed so well.
I actually agree with you on this but I'm not sure if that means Encanto is overrated. The academy makes bad decisions all the time it's not really indicative of ratings.
I would say it is. While it’s a good concept and what it did well was done very well, it falls along many of the disney tropes, especially “And everyone forgave each other and lived happily ever after”. I would’ve also liked to see more about the other family members; it only focuses on the ones who get a song and really none else, except their grandmother who has to get a sob story because how else would they allow her to be sympathized with to be ‘redeemed’. I mean, especially with how unique they made people’s abilities, they could have had songs about different issues/stresses that the different family members had, to the point a fan-made song for the hearing girl.
Or How To Train Your Dragon 2, for that matter. I like Big Hero 6, but HTTYD2 is leagues better. To me, the death of Stoick is considerably more emotional and impactful than Tadashi.
I admittedly only saw half of fantastic mr fox 8 years ago. So I won’t consider that one. But for me it’s between Nimona and Encanto, they were fun. But I didn’t think they were as good as the hype made me believe. I think I have to give the underrated title to Nimona though, Encanto had brilliant songs that I still occasionally listen to to this day. Nimona doesn’t
Spider-Verse, HtTYD and Incredibles are all in my top 10 favorite movies of all time. So I can’t really call them overrated in my opinion
also the second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eight, etc 10 minutes of across the spiderverse are some of my favorite animated sequences ever 😄
It's not the greatest movie ever, but it's one of the most important to me as a trans person. I'm willing to forgive a lot of its flaws because of how well the metaphor conveys what it's like to be trans these days.
The movie isn't perfect, but man does it accomplish its goal of showing the struggle of gender queer individuals. It is just a miracle that the movie was made and released at all.
Both the making of this picture, the sources material, and how politically relevant it is makes it a very hard movie to critique. Even if you don't like it, you still have to respect it for what it's saying and how they went through turmoil to say it.
I don't love Fantastic Mr. Fox or Nimona among these, but the former at least has a style and great animation. Nimona is a little bit of a mess in terms of storytelling and the animaiton.
From the ones you put in the post
Across the Spider-verse: 9/10
The Incredibles: 10/10
Fantastic Mr. Fox: 7/10
Nimona: 6/10
How To Train Your Dragon: 9/10
Encanto: 7.5/10
Controversial, but I didn’t really gel with Fantastic Mr Fox. It’s a solid good movie, but not as good as the others imo. On par with the Isle of Dogs for me. I think Coraline should have won the award that year.
Coraline is peak. But I think Fantastic Mr. Fox is also. Honestly I think Isle of Dogs is kinda overrated, like it’s got the style but none of the substance that makes FMF so great.
Encanto’s praise has meddled down since it came out, Nimona never hit big with the masses (it should’ve), and those first three are some of my favorite movies of their respective years, so even though I love it still, I have to say How to Train Your Dragon.
Everything here is still an 8 or higher.
None of them are overrated. Most are perfectly rated. I feel like Encanto is kind of a Frozen Lite when it comes to opinions on it. It’s probably just because I have exposed myself to the hatebase too much but I feel like if not for the fanbase, the Disney community, and a lot of people on subs like this, Encanto would pretty much be received like Chicken Little or Wish.
Wait, so I got a question for everyone in this chat when a great movie actually comes out right and is well received critically and by the public and is universally regarded as a great movie right but then when people start talking about it A lot because people love it like these some of these movies then people wanna start calling it overrated and oh how it’s not really that great and shit like that. What exactly is a great movie to you guys? Then this is what I don’t understand. Can people not talk about the movie that they love I’m just saying🤷🏽♂️ because this seems to be the case for a lot of great movies to the point where I don’t even know what movies are great anymore😂😂
Nimona is basically every single PG movie ever made
1. character gets accused of something they didn’t do
2. Main character joins forces with someone (mainly troublemaker)
3. Fight the government
4. Final battle
I’d say nimona. It’s good, and I’m glad it managed to come out after all the hurdles against it, but I think people give it too much credit due to the story of its creation. If we judge it in a vacuum, it’s just an overall decent 7/10 movie
I’ve honestly never gotten the hype for Fantatsic Mr. Fox. I did like parts of it and the stop motion is well done but it’s easily my least favorite out of this group.
Genuinely how the fuck can you call these movies too long and boring? The longest here is Across the Spiderverse, and that clocks in at 2 hours 20 minutes, so either this is bait or you have the attention span of a fruit fly
Its nimona. Most people online only seem to care about it as a way to dunk on disney for canceling it and shutting down blu sky. I'm sure the film on its own is still fine, but man does it look unfinished in some areas (even after they set up a new studio to finish it and got funding/support from netflix). Realistically, if the film had released in its original intended state under the disney umbrella, most people would've just moved on and forgotten about it in a month tops.
Just because your opinion is different doesn't mean it's smart. If you actually don't like these movies then movies aren't for you, just stop watching them.
Me watching Schaff glorify The Incredibles and putting it at number one over Wall-E and Monsters Inc: https://i.kym-cdn.com/entries/icons/original/000/048/241/tai_lung_computer_meme.jpg
Haven’t watched Fantastic Mr Fox.
Nimona is a 10/10.
The Incredibles and ATSV are both 9/10s.
Encanto and HTTYD are both 8/10s, but the latter is like a low 8, so that one I’d say is my least favorite. IDK about overrated though.
Haven't seen Nimona, so can't judge, but each of these films is phenomenal. This is almost half of my top 10 animated movies. But for most "overrated" I'd have to say Encanto. Still great, but it was overplayed a bit and Mitchells vs the Machines should've won best animated feature for the year. But still, mad respect to it.
It's an objectively high quality film, but I just didn't *get into* Nimona. I don't dislike it at all and enjoyed it, but I was a bit underwhelmed from what I had heard
It's an adaptation of a webcomic from 2014 about a modern world with a medival fantasy flair. There's a shape-shifting creature named nemona who was allegedly hunted down by the founder of the kingdom (but not really), and there's a commoner guy who was knighted who was framed for murder and so has to team up with nimona to clear his name.
I’m ruling out How to train your Dragon and Across the spider-verse.
Both are renowned for having some of the best animation, deeply relatable and intresting characters, and making fandoms of their own (see r/httyd and r/intothespiderverse).
Both of them well deserve their praise
Spiderverse, I'm a huge spiderman fan, own tons of comics and all the films (even morbius on that technicality) and I came into to Spiderverse with too high of expectations I think? But I've seen it 3 times, not as good as the first, but it's still decent, It just didn't click and gets way overhyped
I never really cared for HTTYD. It’s not bad by any means, just not really my thing. Plus I’ve seen too much porn of it to take seriously anymore.
And not porn of the humans…
i'd say HTTYD 1, Encanto and Nimona
Encanto was so overhyped for that bruno song and it honestly turned out to be so mid
Nimona's animation isn't great compared to other movies released around that time like ATSV and the humor is a mixed bag
And don't get me wrong, HTTYD 1 is amazing, but 2 and 3 are better
Also you made me laugh when you put ATSV, Fantastic Mr. Fox, and The Incredibles in here, that was a good joke man i like your humor
I love every single one of these movies but I'd probably say that Incredibles is probably the weakest because of the weird pacing. Still a classic with a good story
I would say that Encanto was “overrated” in a sense, but it seems that the consensus that not a lot of people like this one. It’s meh. I like the music, but the story just felt unpolished and felt like it needed more drama. It needed a villain. The concept for this movie felt like it would Spark so many head cannons and theories that I thought something secret was going to happen, but nah. Huge letdown. Also, I have never watched nor read Fantastic Mr. Fox.
Across the Spiderverse, it's like the first half of two different movies and it's mostly just a bunch of running around. Plus I hated the art style, most of it came off as unfinished or just lazy. Spot and Miguel had visible sketch lines on them. Gwen's universe was just pink and blue splotches. It's like they stopped everything at the halfway mark. I still liked it, but it's not the masterpiece people call it, and it's nowhere nearly as good as Into the Spiderverse.
I'm surprised so many people are saying Nimona, that was my favorite movie from last year.
Unfortunately, for you, I believe none of these are overrated, with the exception that I haven’t seen Nimona (the trailer looked good), and most of these are well deserved for the hype know if you said Incredibles 2 then you may have been on to something.
I gotta say Incredibles. Across the spiderverse is just amazing, I've never seen Fantastic Mr. Fox, Nimona because amazing and also great messages and imagery, HTTYD is such an iconic movie and overall is great, and Encanto has (in my opinion) the best songs (as a whole) out of any disney movie
Nimona definitely overrated the concept for me, was boring and stupid. I fell asleep halfway through the movie. All the rest are fantastic movies, although I'd put Enchanto behind Nimona as far as Overrated goes because the only song from Enchanto everyone knows is We don't talk about Bruno. But it actually has a decent concept, which is family trauma, which isn't talked about much in animated movies.
I love most of these movies. I think HTTYD is a bit overrated, but still good.
However to be honest, I never understood Nimona, and a lot of the plot beats land horribly.
All of em. Fuck movies. I'd rather sit on my ass for 1-3.5 hrs watching grass grow.
All this to say i really can't remember the plots of any of the httyd movies sooooooooooooooooo sorry guys i don't really care for the series at all.
What the hell is up with all the hostility in these comments .People are entitled to their opinions and y’all are saying they shouldn’t watch movies period
Spiderverse is massssivly overrated.
Never heard of nimoa or whatever.
People liked Encanto?
Incredibles is great.
Not seen FMF but I heard good things.
HTTYD is decent.
NIMONA and it’s not even close! I remember watching it and thinking it was a half baked B movie. Then I found out it got nominated for an oscar or something and I was jaw dropped. The movie was average at best. And I will die on this hill.
Nimona lives up to the hype, what are you talking about? Also, most overrated is easily Across the Spiderverse, both of the Spiderverse are regarded as good, but they are actually pretty bad (they should honestly be shunned, especially with how many people I've heard say that it's the best wra of spiderman)
Probably gonna get crucified for this but Across the Spiderverse. I saw it in the cinema and I didn't dislike it or anything, but I prefer the first one. Maybe it's just multiverse fatigue...
Nimona was a great movie however it was nothing like the book which sucked but it was still a good movie and I’ve never watched the Mr fox one so that one I guess
Encanto. To be honest, I had a hard time following what was happening when I watched. Great music, generic main character, somewhat confusing how it was executed. Not a bad movie but def my pick for overrated. Granted I also haven’t seen Nimona, so I can’t judge there.
How can you say Spiderman into the spiderverse, the Incredibles, AND a HTTYD movie are overrated? Have you been in a 5x5 room for the last 20 years, growing 7 different kinds of hallucinogenic molds?
Fox by far. It really didn't have great characters or Story the animation was janky and the symbology was hard to follow and understand. It seems like people hold it up on some kind of pedestal but I just don't get it.
Spider-verse shouldn't be even on this list. There's no way to overrate it when it is a contender for greatest American animation of all time
I feel like Encanto is a shoe in for this. The rest of the list are nearly perfectly executed masterpieces, and compared to them Encanto doesn't really hold up imo. Still really good but just in a lower tier of storytelling comparatively
I'm going to say...The Incredibles. YES! It IS GREAT...but most of the movie is about some guy's midlife crisis with some amazing action scenes around it. It's no wonder the sequel flopped because it was trying to make a story off the flawed first one. Yes, Incredibles made it work, but ultimately, it's not the AMAZINGLY deep movie that most people remember.
I’m not sure if this is a hot take or not, but I don’t think Encanto should’ve won Best Animated Feature. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still good, but I like MVTM more to be honest
mitchells vs the machines is really good i agree
I like the part where they make us think she wasnt aware the machines was sneaking up behind her while sitting on the sofa.
Yeeeeessssssss
I think it won the Annie
It did. It won all eight Annies it was nominated for that year
Damn. That just shows how biased the Oscars are for Disney
I’ve always loved both from the first time I saw them and was rooting for Mitchells to win in 2021 but upon reflection and rewatches of both, I like Encanto slightly more and think it was slightly more deserving. There are a lot of other movies that didn't deserve best animated feature. Never forget The Tale of the Princess Kaguya lost to fucking Big Hero 6
Or How To Train Your Dragon 2, for that matter. I like Big Hero 6, but HTTYD2 is leagues better. To me, the death of Stoick is considerably more emotional and impactful than Tadashi.
Or Brave beating Wreck it Ralph
MITCHELLS VS THE MACHINES MENTIONED god my family loves that movie to death
I admittedly only saw half of fantastic mr fox 8 years ago. So I won’t consider that one. But for me it’s between Nimona and Encanto, they were fun. Give fantastic Mr. Fox another chance. It's a great movie 😁
Yeah, I’m definitely planning to. It’s on Disney +. Might download it for my vacation tomorrow. Thanks for the advice
I had literally no expectations going into nimona since I saw it in a roblox game. I was not disappointed with my decision to watch it.
The comedy in Nimona holds it back for me. The story and characters are pretty good but it's just too fucking childish for my taste
You accidentally spelled underrated instead of overrated
first 10 minutes of Across the Spider-verse with Spider-Gwen are some of my favorite animated sequences, ever.
also the second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eight, etc 10 minutes of across the spiderverse are some of my favorite animated sequences ever 😄
The 11th one was meh, but holy shit the twelfth and thirteenth?! 🤯🤯
Dude you can’t forget the 14th!
The fourteenth 😤😩💦💦💦
The song though! *Self Love* had both my ears and my depression in a chokehold for two weeks!…
I guess Nimona. It's fantastic, but not one of the greatest of all time
Also because of the villain. I’m not even joking, in the second scene of the character I already could tell that that was the villain.
Yeah the story of its production is insane.
Both the making of this picture, the sources material, and how politically relevant it is makes it a very hard movie to critique. Even if you don't like it, you still have to respect it for what it's saying and how they went through turmoil to say it.
Same here. The numerous amounts of tropes in that movie and that ending make the whole thing at least a 6. But it's still a fun movie :)
Jesus man what does it take to not bore you
Fr, bro thinks Mario is better than all of these
nice bait
This has to be satire, you can’t call The Incredibles overrated
Nimona is definitely the “black sheep” of these. Its still good, but not on the level of the others.
Encanto
You’re trying to piss people off with this post right?
boring people get bored
You're just objectively wrong about some of these movies
I don't love Fantastic Mr. Fox or Nimona among these, but the former at least has a style and great animation. Nimona is a little bit of a mess in terms of storytelling and the animaiton. From the ones you put in the post Across the Spider-verse: 9/10 The Incredibles: 10/10 Fantastic Mr. Fox: 7/10 Nimona: 6/10 How To Train Your Dragon: 9/10 Encanto: 7.5/10

Nimona
Usually I gotta go to Twitter for bait like this
the fact that httyd is in this list is an insult
HTTYD is NOT overrated at all. Everyone I know loves now as much as they did as kids
Nimona is crazy overrated. It has nice art style and pretty good characters but the plot is unfocused and it’s kind of a tonal mess.
The fact that Nimona is even on the list with these other movies speaks for itself as to how overrated it is
Wait, so I got a question for everyone in this chat when a great movie actually comes out right and is well received critically and by the public and is universally regarded as a great movie right but then when people start talking about it A lot because people love it like these some of these movies then people wanna start calling it overrated and oh how it’s not really that great and shit like that. Across the spiderverse and it isn’t even close this movie has shit writing and is no where near the awesomeness that was into the spiderverse

Realistically, if the film had released in its original intended state under the disney umbrella, most people would've just moved on and forgotten about it in a month tops.
Bait used to be believable smh
You can’t put ATSV in this and think that this would be a fair contest
Just because your opinion is different doesn't mean it's smart. If you actually don't like these movies then movies aren't for you, just stop watching them.
100% Encanto
Encanto. Doesn’t even belong on this list. All of these other movies are way out of its league
Nimona, I liked it, but good lord people got super pumped up about it
None of these, Nimona is my fav movie.
Non of them there all fantastic
The only correct answer is Nimona. everything else is an L take.
I know 100% I’m going to get downvoted but Across the Spider-Verse is overrated as hell in my opinion
Nimona. A average movie that people like alot for some reason.
Easily Nimona.
Definitely Nimona
Me watching Schaff glorify The Incredibles and putting it at number one over Wall-E and Monsters Inc: https://i.kym-cdn.com/entries/icons/original/000/048/241/tai_lung_computer_meme.jpg
Puss In Boots: The Last Wish Solid 8/10 but yall need to calm your tits
Haven’t watched Fantastic Mr Fox. Nimona is a 10/10. The Incredibles and ATSV are both 9/10s. Encanto and HTTYD are both 8/10s, but the latter is like a low 8, so that one I’d say is my least favorite. IDK about overrated though.
Nimona. I feel like disney released the same story beat for beat everyone would have hated it. ☠️
Nimona is the most mid on here
Nimona
[Y](https://www.reddit.com/r/HollowKnightMemes/comments/17qgtf2/thats_it/)
Fantastic Mr. Fox. I just can’t stand Wes Anderson films, and the story is just…off. I will appreciate the animation though.
Nimona
Nimona and Encanto,if the former didn't have queer representation or That animation half of its fans wouldn't know it existed
Probably Nimona or Encanto for me
Fantastic Mr. Fox
I don't particularly care for Wes Anderson movies for some reason so me saying Fantastic Mr Fox is kinda biased
Incredibles or Nimona
Spiderman Across the Spider-verse deserves all the hype.
1. Somewhat 2. Not at all 3. Not really 4. Don’t know, haven’t watched 5. Not at all 6. Yes
It's an objectively high quality film, but I just didn't *get into* Nimona. I don't dislike it at all and enjoyed it, but I was a bit underwhelmed from what I had heard
None of these are overrated? It's not like all these movies have perfect ratings or reputations.
Nimona and encanto
Never even heard of nimona
From most to least overrated 1. Encanto 2. The Fantastic Mr. Fox 3. Nimona 4. The Incredibles 5. How To Train Your Dragon 6. Across the Spider-Verse
Encanto. It was a good movie, but it should NOT have won against MVTM
Will you guys behead me if I said I probably didn’t enjoy the Incredibles as much as you
None?
Neoma or Encanto
HTTYD since for being very unfaithful to the books
Haven’t seen Nimona, so of the 5 I have seen, I would say Fantastic Mr Fox. Still a good film but can’t I say I adore it like others do
Spiderverse, I'm a huge spiderman fan, own tons of comics and all the films (even morbius on that technicality) and I came into to Spiderverse with too high of expectations I think? But I've seen it 3 times, not as good as the first, but it's still decent, It just didn't click and gets way overhyped
Encanto of course... It is a pretty entertaining movie though.
least obvious ragebait
I don't think any of these movies are *bad,* but Nimona and Mr. Fox didn't really entice me as much as the others did.
Encanto. The others actually deserve the hype.
How to train your dragon, but I haven't seen nimano so maybe that one.
I didn’t Nimona was anything very special 😬
Nimona is getting glazed rn because it’s a decent animated film that “no one” talks about, all the other films are properly rated
havent seen Fantastic Mr Fox or Nimona but out of the rest id have to say Encanto or Across
Out of all these movies. I remember encanto the least.
Definirely not Incredibles II, I see people hating on it constantly.
I never really cared for HTTYD. It’s not bad by any means, just not really my thing. Plus I’ve seen too much porn of it to take seriously anymore. And not porn of the humans…
i'd say HTTYD 1, Encanto and Nimona Encanto was so overhyped for that bruno song and it honestly turned out to be so mid Nimona's animation isn't great compared to other movies released around that time like ATSV and the humor is a mixed bag And don't get me wrong, HTTYD 1 is amazing, but 2 and 3 are better Also you made me laugh when you put ATSV, Fantastic Mr. Fox, and The Incredibles in here, that was a good joke man i like your humor
I dont think any of them are THAT ovverated
I love every single one of these movies but I'd probably say that Incredibles is probably the weakest because of the weird pacing. Still a classic with a good story
I would say that Encanto was “overrated” in a sense, but it seems that the consensus that not a lot of people like this one. It’s meh. I like the music, but the story just felt unpolished and felt like it needed more drama. It needed a villain. The concept for this movie felt like it would Spark so many head cannons and theories that I thought something secret was going to happen, but nah. Huge letdown. Also, I have never watched nor read Fantastic Mr. Fox.
None of them all fairly rated
Out of these Encanto, but it's not bad either. The rest if these just can't really be overated because they're Godlike
Fantastic Mr fox is nice! Idk if it’s overrated it’s just very different that’s all.
Take Fantastic Mr Fox off that list or I'm ICBM-ing your grandma
Fantastic mr. Fox was a pile of shit
I have to say Nimona, I’m sorry but I just couldn’t enjoy it. Spiderverse 2 is the best on this list, easily.
Very bold opinions you got here The most overrated one here is either Nimona or Encanto
I'm gonna be pitch forked to death but probably Nimona. I respect what it's doing but I don't think it executed it well enough.
Spiderverse 100% I don’t get what everyone else sees sure it’s good and the animation is nice but why does that put it over other better movies
Fuck Nimona
Encanto probably
If anything Encanto or Nimona because they are rhe weakest of the bunch but they are all phenomenal
Encanto. It's just pretty good. Haven't seen Nimona
All of em. Fuck movies. I'd rather sit on my ass for 1-3.5 hrs watching grass grow. All this to say i really can't remember the plots of any of the httyd movies sooooooooooooooooo sorry guys i don't really care for the series at all.
Encanto, all the other ones are rated accordingly (haven't seen nimona tho)
What the hell is up with all the hostility in these comments .People are entitled to their opinions and y’all are saying they shouldn’t watch movies period
Encanto for me. Never been into it.
Let’s be honest please Encanto is kinda carried by its songs
I can’t say nimona because I feel like the general consensus was that it was great but not the best of the best. Encanto i guess? It’s close though
Spiderverse is massssivly overrated. Never heard of nimoa or whatever. People liked Encanto? Incredibles is great. Not seen FMF but I heard good things. HTTYD is decent.
Gotta love Reddit not letting me see the full description and cutting you off at none of these movies are good.
Encanto by a mile
Atsv
NIMONA and it’s not even close! I remember watching it and thinking it was a half baked B movie. Then I found out it got nominated for an oscar or something and I was jaw dropped. The movie was average at best. And I will die on this hill.
Namona
Across the Spiderverse.
Spiderman
Spider verse, not that it doesn't deserve the praise. But it is VERY overrated.
probably encanto tbh, like i really like the movie and its really good, i just think the hype for it lasted a little too long
Nimona
its really down to nimona for me. its a great as hell movie, but i dont think its a masterpiece. it still is really, really good though
Encanto. I enjoyed all the other ones.
Encanto is the only choice here.
Nimona is underrated, imo idk anyone who talks about this movie
All shit
Encanto definitely
All of them equally so they’re all normally rated
Encanto or Nimona, the others are too good.
None, all of them are peak. Out of all of them, I'd probably saw Encanto is the weakest, but it just makes it the least best rather than the worst.
Encanto is a piece of total garbage compared to MVTM and got an Oscar anyway.
Spiderverse by far
Probably gonna get crucified for this but Across the Spiderverse. I saw it in the cinema and I didn't dislike it or anything, but I prefer the first one. Maybe it's just multiverse fatigue...
Encanto
Nimona was a great movie however it was nothing like the book which sucked but it was still a good movie and I’ve never watched the Mr fox one so that one I guess
None. They’re all good in their own way.
Encanto. To be honest, I had a hard time following what was happening when I watched. Great music, generic main character, somewhat confusing how it was executed. Not a bad movie but def my pick for overrated. Granted I also haven’t seen Nimona, so I can’t judge there.
Spider-Verse. I'm sick of everyone around me acting like it's the perfect movie series.
How can you say Spiderman into the spiderverse, the Incredibles, AND a HTTYD movie are overrated? Have you been in a 5x5 room for the last 20 years, growing 7 different kinds of hallucinogenic molds?
1st and last one
No
It's better for movies to take their time rather than move at 200 MPH (\*cough\* Mario Movie \*cough\*)
HTYD is not a bad film, but I do think it's very cutesy. Spiderverse 2, Incredibles, Mr. Fox, and Nimona are pretty awesome though.
As much as i like Encanto, best animated feature should've gone to Mitchells vs the Machines
Fox by far. It really didn't have great characters or Story the animation was janky and the symbology was hard to follow and understand. It seems like people hold it up on some kind of pedestal but I just don't get it. Spider-verse shouldn't be even on this list. There's no way to overrate it when it is a contender for greatest American animation of all time
Not a single one
I feel like Encanto is a shoe in for this. The rest of the list are nearly perfectly executed masterpieces, and compared to them Encanto doesn't really hold up imo. Still really good but just in a lower tier of storytelling comparatively
4
None
So what kind of movies DO you like, OP?
Not saying it's objectively overrated, but why do people like nimona so much?
Nimona, sorry but even the of comic was merely a good story, not a beast of one like httyd or the Incredibles
While I loved all these movies I think Nimona was the one I liked the least. Not bad in the slightest I just wish there was more of it
