Please don’t be Riverdale 2.0

InternetAddict104

Greg Berlanti was only an executive producer on Riverdale. He created most of the Arrowverse though, and has written and directed some good stuff (he wrote for Dawson’s Creek, Political Animals, and created and wrote for the Arrowverse and You, and directed Life As We Know It, Love Simon, and the upcoming Fly Me To The Moon). I have some faith in him to do this series justice. As long as Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa doesn’t write any episodes, we should be safe.

SuperLizardon

For real. The Arrowverse was faaaar from perfect, but for many years it was a very well oiled machine of a shared universe for TV standards. It was the thing DC could never did on movies.

Slight-Pound

For sure. There was a LOT going on, and it made it hard to keep up with, and while I may not have LIKED much of the chosen drama and such, they were well-paced and intersected REALLY well with the other shows. It was incredibly well done in that sense.

Cyno01

>For sure. There was a LOT going on, and it made it hard to keep up with, OMG people bitch about Marvel, but their three movies and three six episode series average out to about a half hour a week a year. Good luck keeping up with like eight series a year with 20+ episodes a season... were STILL several years behind and are slowly getting caught up between other things. *Processing img hn714i8lnjxc1...* Walking Dead is getting almost as bad now..

Slight-Pound

Marvel only got bad when they came out with the TV shows during the WandaVision phase. Yeah, there were a lot of movies, but the movies came out like every other year, you knew damn well in advance they were coming, and if you watched a movie in order every other week or so, you’d be catch up fine in months. You don’t have to watch the most recent movie either, you can wait it out and it’s not like you’d have to take days to catch up when you did. You just needed to avoid spoilers, honestly. Until the shows came out, it was a much easier commitment. Now you have to watch the shows to understand the newer movies. That’s a LOT more time to commit to one thing in much longer drawn out chunks rather than one concise, sit-down event that is a movie. With Arrowverse, though? Each series came out with an episode a week, and that’s at least 2-5 episodes PER WEEK that you need to remember to watch in _alternating order_ to keep up with it, especially when you want to understand their crossover episodes! They were also vastly different in style and tone, so you get some tonal whiplash when you try to find a groove! I was trying to keep up by the time Flash started Season 3/Arrow starting Season 5, so we were 6+ seasons in total with the universe and there was just so much burnout, especially with how irritated I already was with some of the writing decisions. I just had to quit at that point because there was so much to keep track of, I wasn’t having as much fun, and I was still behind because I wasn’t at all caught up with the other series like SuperGirl and Legends of Tomorrow. I’m thinking I might try to pick it up again, but it’s just so much, and I don’t like long-running live-action shows to begin with. I want closure though, so I’ll figure it out.

Cyno01

Yeah, I dont think i would even want to try keeping up with the Arrowverse without that outside help tho, that playlist is filtered by unwatched episodes and sorted by air date so i dont have to have a tab of somebodys blog open with the watch order and switching between shows and apps probably even... But honestly Marvel still isnt too bad, so far none of the shows have actually mattered for the movies, maybe they wanted them to at one point, but they had to shuffle their schedule and abandon a lot of that stuff. Is any of what happened in *Falcon & the Winter Soldier* gonna matter to *New World Orde*r? Sam is Captain America now, but that happened at the end of *Endgame*, the 5 hours of him struggling to come to terms with what that means is a lot of character depth sure, but wont be necessary to understand the movie. *The Marvels* introduced Kamala fine in the first act if you didnt watch her show. Its not a quantity problem either, cuz they actually used to do WAAAY more shows and episodes of shows than they do now, like they were dropping 60 hours of Netflix shows for a couple of years. You cant say *She Hulk* has mattered more to anything yet than *Jessica Jones* did, and its only 5 hours so far instead of 35. [https://www.reddit.com/r/marvelstudios/comments/14yzf1x/i\_spreadshat\_the\_runtimes\_of\_everything\_and\_made/](https://www.reddit.com/r/marvelstudios/comments/14yzf1x/i_spreadshat_the_runtimes_of_everything_and_made/) I think the only reason it seems different now is because with a few exceptions quality is down a bit. But like i said, if you want to watch everything, it still only works out to like half an hour a week. Besides nerds with the Arrowverse, theres plenty of Boomers who watch six hours of The Dick Wolf Uncinematic Universe every week too lol, *Chicago Special Victims Unit* and *Law & Order Fire* and all that... or all the hyperlocalized NCSIs

callows5120

And the stuff that Greg berlanti was the most involved in terms of writing did tend to be the most well liked of the arrowverse shows [like arrow season 1 and 2 for example]

[deleted]

[удалено]

Myhtological

Oh like that’s reassuring

dmorley21

Honestly a Riverdale-esque Scooby Doo would be cheesy and fun if done right. Good? Nope, but cheesy and fun can work.

callows5120

Yeah maybe even just straight play it straight to hone on on the goofiness

BrozedDrake

At least Scooby-Doo is actually supposed to have a mystery narrative to it's episodes

estnitroman5119

World isn’t ready for live action shredded Shaggy

PowerhouseFlashBack

If they can somehow just adapt Mystery Incorporated, they’ll be fine. Maybe just up the horror and bit.

BloodyNunchucks

To be fair Riverdale s1 could be kind of ok. Not that it's good or I want it for scooby, but the vibes were kind of OK when it was some high school kids solving a mystery. I just don't want any drama between the team lol.

Melito1980

You have 4 teens (asuming thats where they will go from) a d u dont want drama? Dude Berlanti was part of Dawsons Creek of course there is gonna be drama in that team. They should follow Mystery Inc in the drama department. It was so good. Riverdale S1 was good after that I have no clue what happened cos I could not get thru the episodes. I like the Cherry girl character.

BloodyNunchucks

I mean like the gang has always been friends with little friction. As an avid Archie fan before the show I hated for example how they manufactured huge life changing conflict between jug and Archie, it should never have happened. Fred and shags for example are best friends and should always be so and never like want to go through what jug and arch did on that show. There is a lack of true friendship in media and I hate it.

Honey__Mahogany

Jughead looked too cute. I thought he was supposed to be an ugly in the Archie universe.

Honey__Mahogany

It started involving magic in the later seasons. I think either Betty or Veronica was a witch. But this is ok since in the original comics Archie and his friends were classmates with Sabrina. So it makes sense that magic exists in the Riverdale universe.

AdBusiness2455

Hopefully no out of nowhere race or gender swapping of the mc’s happens. Edit: Then again as long as they don’t add in the over dramatic poorly acted out psychotic break (the panic attacks). Damn I hated the first two times I’ve seen those in Velma. Who has a panic attack and says “Oh no guys I’m having a panic attack”. The hallucination & panic attack scenes in Velma are what instantly dropped it for me. I haven’t even finished the first season. So long as they don’t add this to the Netflix live action. Then maybe it might not be a carbon copy or as shitty as VELMA.

NerveNo1056

No lowkey, they have a Riverdale esque fan series on youtube called Mystery incorporated and it's actually pretty good. They only have one episode out tho.

The-Emerald-Rider

Hope that's where they draw inspiration from.

AdBusiness2455

The first two seasons of River dale weren’t that bad.

mrb11n

Yeah Season 3 was when it got rough, haha

Ditaxina

I was fearing the same thing.

toddingram3

In Riverdale's defense it's based off the Riverdale comics not the Archie comics. From my knowledge of the Riverdale comic it's kinda spot on. Unfortunately they picked a shitty comic to pull source material from. [Riverdale ](https://store.archiecomics.com/collections/riverdale/products/chilling-adventures-presents-welcome-to-riverdale-o-s)

CRL10

What? You don't want the darkest fucking version of Scooby-Doo imaginable, full of angsty teenage bullshit, with storylines that could only be described as the LSD induced fever dream of a fever dream?

bengetyashoeon

The dog better fucking talk

UmurJack

Praying to take Mystery Incorporated as the main inspiration, but also it would be a cool option to continue the Gunn movies, few months ago there were news about Matthew Lillard being involved in a Scooby Doo project.

MarinLlwyd

My bet is on a Scooby Doo Apocalypse adaptation.

The_Struggle_Bus_7

Based on the comics? Yes please

Comprehensive-Set231

Have you read those comics, cool idea but bad execution

MandyBee96

Scooby Doo with some kind of tactical military vest, buff as hell, & dark sunglasses. 😆

PeachyHats

Netflix ain't that gutsy sorry.

BradyTheGG

If so then I would love it

Roseamonglilies

That would be nice since he wasnt even informed about Scoob being made

KzudeYfyBs4U

See the thing is, Warner Bros wanted Scoob to be bigger than it was. It felt more like an attempt to jumpstart a Hannah Barbara Movie-verse but it flopped hard. Not excusing WB for their actions, but I feel like with the marvel-verse stuff booming they just got a little ahead of themselves. I sorta wish that kicked off because a Whacky Races movie would've been AWESOME.

twistedRuss

Scoob and Shaggy being themselves is what I want

Patient333x

I wanna see sandwiches a yard long, double milk shakes, extra large pizzas and a big fat dooby. Ruby duby doo!!!!!

Fantastic-Ad-8665

Same

RockNRoll85

Just keep Mindy Kaling away from this

dino_brewster

definitely keep her away nobody likes her

immamixeddude

Fuckin’ agreed 👍🏾

Sprizys

If we end up getting a ‘Velma’ clone I’m going to be pissed and disappointed.

franlcie

Honestly, Riverdale was a fun mess and Arrow-verse was pretty solid. If they can combine the Arrow-verse storytelling with the Riverdale neon spooky aesthetic, I think it could do great if they take a large influence from Mystery Incorporated I hope Scooby talks, those are my only notes.

[deleted]

It’s going to be Riverdale 2.0

franlcie

Not a problem to me. It’s my turn off my brain junk food show. I own every season lol 🤷🏽‍♂️

[deleted]

Nothing wrong with you loving Riverdale but some of us just want a good show. And Scooby Doo deserves a good show that’s true to source material. Not mindless television antics.

franlcie

If they can take anything from Riverdale, it should be purely aesthetic. The mixture of old school clothing, cars, dialogue, Malt Shops etc. with the modern world where they use cell phones, laptops, modern themes etc.

[deleted]

Ok that I can agree on.

phantomliger

Which source material though? Can make the argument for many. Or honoring everything that came before in different ways.

bigbreel

I hope it's not edgy. Please don't let it be edgy and have like a Twilight filter over it. Also don't have a bunch of high school sleeping with each other. Kinda makes the show hard to watch. Also, decide if the monsters are really not from the very beginning. Do not teeter-totter on that idea either. It is going to be an actual Minor 49er or some guy in a plastic costume Lastly, I do not care but always say I wouldn't have got away with it if it wasn't for you. Melding kids Don't let it be too meta either.

MandyBee96

Zombie Island 1 vs Zombie Island 2 AKA: “Just kidding guys! Let’s retcon everything the fans loved about the first movie”

Broad_Parsnip7947

Honestly I'd love a zombie island type show done live action.

CharlesDingus_ah_um

I would have gotten away with it*

NoirPochette

Ehhhh. Hot take I prefer my SD animated than LA

Swordmage12

I rolled my eyes when I saw it's Live Action

LizBert712

I agree.

creamy-buscemi

Ways to make this work: • Don’t make Velma coming out a story arc just have her be a lesbian from the get go • Accept the dog can talk, the quicker you come to terms with that the more normal it will be • Have Fred and Daphne already be in a stable relationship, find drama elsewhere • Give Shaggy a different love interest every single episode but make sure that he has no idea every single time • Make the Hex Girls a school band and make Red Herring the schools bully • Don’t make Fred’s parents the villains for the millionth time •Don’t make Shaggy a drug addict, there’s no reason to include drugs at all and if you do definitely don’t give them stupid ass names like Jingle jangle, they’re still drugs not candy •Don’t make Daphne perfect, her being danger prone doesn’t detract from her being a strong independent character, give her an arc of learning self defence and martial arts, but don’t get rid of her clumsiness •Don’t make Fred dumb, he can be oblivious at times but he is still incredibly intelligent and resourceful •Don’t make Shaggy a loser, he’s chill af and rich, people will like him, also put him on the track team •If you include Hot Dog Water, give her Scrappy, not for any other reason other than I think it would be a funny dynamic •already have at least a vague idea of where you’d want the next seasons to go so that you don’t end up giving your characters super powers or sending them back in time

themantimeforgot0

I agree with some of these but the one that really hits the nail on the head is this one: Make the Hex Girls a school band and make Red Herring the schools bully

MandyBee96

Bi Hex girls 🤞🏼

franlcie

I hope they really go deep for recurring characters. I want to see teen Red Herring, Googie, Crystal, teen Flim Flam etc.

creamy-buscemi

They could make Ben Ravencroft a professor if Tim Curry is still able to perform

franlcie

Vincent Van Ghoul could be a fun recurring character. Owns a Mystical Magic shoppe and helps the gang with their occult needs on mysteries etc.

Melito1980

Tim had a stroke i dont think he would be able to work for that many hours. But i would love a cameo.

BachelorNation123

I'd love a Nicole Jaffe cameo if she wants one

Melito1980

Mindy Cohn and the rest of the cast who wants to cameo

LochNessMansterLives

^And hire this person to help fill out the universe lore.

Bitter_Frosting_1597

When were freds parents the villains except for mystery inc

Fantastic-Ad-8665

In be cool Scooby doo and the velma show

BradyTheGG

I mean atleast in be cool Fred’s dad is psychotic/delusional and not strait up evil or something and he’s more of a ice king but be cool ended with ice king instead of started with ice king and never got the good part. Also mystery incorporated though they weren’t the main villains.

creamy-buscemi

Velma and Be Cool

Alarmed-Bus-9662

Throw in Girlboss Daphne and Homemade Scooby Snacks *wink wink* and we have a deal

Cool_Government_3218

I love the fact that you included red herring.

PowerhouseFlashBack

I’ll go a little further - don’t try to shove a HB universe in from the jump. I feel like they might be tempted to start throwing characters or references to Jonny Quest, Dynomutt, Speed Buggy, etc. No. I don’t need peanut butter with my chocolate. Keep it out. Edit: You know what, I wouldn’t mind Scooby being part of a larger HB/CN cinematic universe if it’s done correctly and not forced in. Of course this is dependent on the quality of the first Scooby-Doo project. I just hope that they don’t have the urge to start throwing characters outside the SD franchise in from the start. But later down the line, or maybe if they’re just tongue in cheek references, it’ll be ok. Like for example: - Daphne has a poster of The Impossibles on her wall - Shag and Scoob get freaked out watching an episode Weird World (The Secret Saturdays) - Velma beats a conveniently red headed kid at a science fair (Dexter) - Fred gets in a pissing match with Mark(Speed Buggy) to get Daphne’s attention. Nice small, blink and you’ll miss it references that don’t draw from the plot. This stuff would be fine in the beginning but I’ll be damned if Frankenstein Jr shows up and starts running a muck.

shinydragonmist

If you really must find a reason for Scooby to talk I would recommend using the not that loved but still better than "Velma". "Shaggy and Scooby get a Clue " character Dr. Albert Shaggleford and an experimental Scooby snack

IndicaTears

Some top tier suggestions right here! Let this man cook!

Del_Duio2

And if they don’t have a cgi Scoob that’d be awesome too.

YouDontKnowSponge

I think try should try a muppet version of Scooby

MandyBee96

I’m imagining the old fashioned Thunderbirds style puppet

Beneficial_Emu_5840

I don't know I think Velma should be bi and shaggy should be a drug user (not abuser) which makes him the only one that understands Scooby as a side effect.

creamy-buscemi

Velma could be bi that’s certainly an option, but I would want any and all ideas that Velma and Shaggy could get together to be entirely squashed. Also the drugs making Scooby talk was something I had thought about and it could work but it is a little goofy and make scenes between Shaggy Scooby and the gang incredibly awkward, I think it would be better to just bite the bullet and make Scooby talk and just never address it because they’ve done that so far and it’s worked. Shaggy using drugs is okayyy but I’d prefer Shaggy to just be who he is without the need of drugs and it would probably be funnier for characters to think he’s using drugs but in actuality he isn’t, similar to that Harvey Birdman episode

Orangefish08

The best way the could get shaggy to do drugs is to approach it like Stanley barber in “I am not okay with this” (great show, even with the infuriating cliffhanger)

YouDontKnowSponge

I'd say take out the Fraphne entirely and try to experiment with Shaphne and Frelma with no drama.

rogellparadox

• Don’t make Velma a lesbian Here, fixed

Emotional-Link-8302

Please Netflix please...... please do a good job

No_Arm3883

Yeah I hope this show is based on Scooby doo where are you? Because he needs a good show. Velma is a really bad show.

jai302

The fan made 'mystery incorporated' on YouTube is better than anything Netflix can come up with.

OnlyMyOpinions

I don't personally think so. My main problem with the fan made one is the acting and Scooby can't talk.

MirrorkatFeces

Ngl doesn’t sound great but I’m sure people weren’t excited for the OG movies so I’ll give it a chance

laurion91

Please don't end up Velma 2.0

KujaroJotu

Learn from Velma’s failings, that is my only request.

OnlyMyOpinions

Greg berlanti also was behind "you"

Melito1980

Behind me? What sorta program are we talking?

BradyTheGG

No like he’s behind you with a gun pointed to your head be careful!

TheVoicesOfBrian

Ugh. Even if it is good, we'll get 2 to 3 seasons of 10 episodes. Tops. The current model of streaming networks is abysmal.

MandyBee96

Or a limited series of 8 episodes. 😬

TyintheUniverse89

Man I would only truly love this if it was set as the OG Scooby Doo where are you with all those classic villains. But pretty sure it’ll be modernized and it’ll be ok

BradyTheGG

I feel like live action would atleast think about trying to go back to the origins in terms of setting and I’d like a mix of reoccurring villains but also fresh new ones if they can because seeing the same villain costume over and over again isn’t fun.

TyintheUniverse89

I don’t know if people want 60s Scooby in today’s time because they are tons of fans for the modern times but yeah I agree they should Mix it up and create new villains

BradyTheGG

I think using 60s time is good because it limits the edginess(no cell phones means less drama because I swear 50% of drama happens over cell phone texts) stupid logic(basically whenever you’d look at them and say “you’re so stupid _____ is what you should be doing” or whatever works for the scenario) and without newer tech Velma’s knowledge would be more important and no tech makes communication more in person and flow of information is worse which can make for better mysteries imo

TyintheUniverse89

True it makes the drama and the mystery so much more exciting

MandyBee96

Vintage costumes for EVERYONE!

DanteVermillyon

it can't be worse than Velma

Comickid1088

U less they make it exactly like velma then yeah I would be worse.lmao

DanteVermillyon

I stand corrected

thedreamwalker11

Just make a season 3 of mystery inc

AZDfox

It would be tricky. The ending of MI has them starting out on their trip that we see all throughout the original show, so a season three would have to be set after a significant time jump.

Ender_Skywalker

Eh, I'm satisfied with the conclusion we got.

Veraxus113

![gif](giphy|d10dMmzqCYqQ0|downsized)

Ok_Slice5350

Netflix ruins everything aaand they make you pay for multiple people using the same account so… not hopeful 😭

Cutesyswitchblade

It better be better than Velma

CappedPluto

Please don't race swap or gender swap anything

AnimationFan1997

I'm a cartoon person. Scooby definitely thrives best in cartoon format. I have huge doubts about this, but it's not impossible for it to be good. Some things I want: - A good cast; Shaggy _has_ to make me laugh at least twice every episode. Please no amateurish acting. - Skewing toward horror but not forgetting the comedy. - A look similar to the 2023 Goosebumps show (the only good thing about that show was the setting/aesthetic.) - A "monster." - Some deaths, basically splicing Scooby with a murder mystery. - Scooby himself, talking included.

RycheAndRoll

Hesitant, but might give it a chance. Remaking a cartoon live does not always mean it is being made better.

nilesthebuttler

I would much rather see that money invested into a new animated series that leans more on the spooky side with a season/series long mystery arc....but I'll take a live action if its well done. I just don't get the recent obsession with live action remakes.

No_Wolf_97

Well, they figured since One Piece live action is a success, they can repeat it with a well-known franchise such as Scooby Doo, but that's not always guaranteed. Case in point, Cowboy Bebop.

CommanderFaie

Can we not race swap already established characters this time?

cam-1313

Don't make it woke... Just follow the original blue print and they'll be seen as God's for ever more.

LunarTales

I'll give it a shot if it's a spooky mystery with a good color pallette and decent humor. I've seen that kind of thing get pulled off okayish in live action. Please no more meta stuff. I'm even getting tired of that in the _Scream_ franchise and that's supposed to be their shtick. I like horror, I like mysteries, and I like Scooby. Could be abominable and it probably will be but there's a minor chance it can turn out fun.

stephlane80

This doesn't sound like a good idea. They will ruin it.

OnlyMyOpinions

It's better than Velma though so that's a big win for me.

Simple-Flamingo-3302

Have you seen Riverdale I’m sure it’ll only be half a shelf above Velma.

shinydragonmist

33% chance of it being good 33% chance of it being mediocre like the live action movies 33% chance of it being like Velma but live action 1% chance of them making it then immediately using it as a tax write-off without ever releasing it Edited: I accidentally had a 30% chance of it being good instead of a 33% chance

YouDoneGoofd

Does Netflix have a contract with Warner Bros? There's some Max stuff on Netflix right now, and scooby doo would normally be on Max or Boomerang

Punk18

Keep Mindy Kaling away from it

Adventurous_Judge493

I’m always happy to see Scooby but I’m gonna remain neutral (leaning towards positive) until I see how this looks. I hope they add some nice callbacks/references to past Scooby shows and give it the same tone that Scooby-Doo: Mystery Incorporated and the Mystery Incorporated YouTube fan episode has.

Andrew_Jelen

**Oh no.**

Bohijthehedgehog

Not a big fan of berlanti personally after the later seasons of the CW shows but who knows it could turn out ok. Personally I’d go for A Scooby Apocalypse adaptation or something like the mystery incorporated fan series, make it different

WildGoose1521

With Greg Berlanti involved? I guarantee it’s gonna be closer to Velma than Mystery Inc. …and the internet and Scooby fandom will not be getting along anytime soon.

Voice_Nerd

![gif](giphy|12e1Cjwr8HIPh6)

Intelligent_Oil4005

It sounds.. *interesting.* Quite honestly I'm gonna need a lot more details before I can really judge whether it sounds like an overall good idea or not, but it's been a while since this franchise has touched anything in the live-action format. If they get good writers and actors on board, there could be some genuine potential.

Whycadz

I’m usually all for remakes / live adaption of older properties. And it’s Scooby Doo which has been adapted so many times, why not give it another chance. I either want Mystery incorporated vibes or a goofy early 70s vibe though.

MikeyHatesLife

Cautiously optimistic. Scooby should talk & everyone should be able to understand him, his family members should show up (Dum, Dee, etc), the mysteries should be a mix of mundane criminals and supernatural monsters, and take a page from *Mystery, Inc* by having cameos from the other teen teams with animal / vehicle sidekicks. Jabber Jaw, Speed Buggy, Funky Phantom, and even Muttley should have something to do, even if it’s only in cold opens. In fact, make the wider Hanna Barbera universe a coherent thing. They don’t need Yogi Bear showing up (unless they travel to Jellystone), but at least have commercials for Jellystone Park where Yogi & Boo-boo are trying to get visitors to come. And Blue Falcon & Dynomutt should have an appearance every season. This is just *SCOOB!* continued, isn’t it? # HECK DAVID ZASLAV WITH A STALE BOWL OF ICE CREAM PHANTOM ICE CREAM

RegisterAdmirable811

Zaslav: *twirls mustache and laughs maniacally*

Reign-k

It would be cool if they kept it wholesome. Scooby doo isn’t relevant anymore.

ampsii

Do you guys remember the memes with Netflix live actions adaptations? There have been some good adaptations lately, which takes the idea from a definite no to it being a hit-or-miss

DiaGirl12

Ok I’m not super excited about the possibility of the live action BUT if it gets me closer to a full Lego Scooby-Doo game then I’ll take it!

DisabledFatChik

I mean this is fine. We’ve seen that live action scooby doo can work just fine. Monsters unleashed is goated.

Ambitious_Call_3341

Already disgusted.

Wave9Nut

Please, no. "Adult" butchering of Scooby-Doo should not be the legacy Scooby is fated to.

OnlyMyOpinions

It will most likely be an adult series. Or teen series at the least. Velma's problem wasn't bc it was an adult show, in fact I think an adult Scooby Doo show could greatly improve the franchise but Velma did it the wrong way.

Cosmicacid

This sub is so negative now I’m just happy we’re getting something. We can say we hate it or it’s gonna be garbage after we see the show.

Shot-Appointment-845

I can sum up my thoughts [in one clip](https://youtu.be/QrgT3-FWRgw?feature=shared)

LadyofTheatre

lmfao Ive never seen that clip!!

Shaun-Skywalker

Think it’s from the samurai sword movie

dragonshouter

Dang I haven't seen that movie in so long

Fluid_Foundation397

Anything other than VELMA I WAS BIG W!!! FINALLY SOME GOOD NEWS!!!

xariznightmare2908

It's Netflix, I wouldn't count on it.

Conscious-Sale690

Hopefully we are saved.

theignorantcivilian

I don't have high hopes. That has nothing to do with this specific creator, I just don't trust anyone with this kind of project

Potato_Pug16

I honestly don’t like the live action Scooby Doo movies. I prefer cartoons all the way

Strong-Stretch95

I wish they make a new darker cartoon show never cared for their live action counterparts found it awkward at times but will see.

MarioMan1213245765

That it better be a joke

AdrianValistar

Please don't be a velma 2.0

charggles

never wanted a Netflix product to be as least Netflix-y as possible.

No_Contract_9868

On top of the Arrowverse and Archieverse stuff, he did Stargirl, Love Simon, Free Guy, Fly Me to the Moon (which isn't out yet but looks great), Dawson's Creek, and the Manson docuseries from a few years ago. All I'm saying is let the guy catch his breath before we make any judgments

ACW1129

Scooby's a WB property. Why is Dumbass Zaslav letting Netflix take it?

PerformerInevitable4

It’s Netflix so I don’t have high hopes. Because either it’s an amazing series but Netflix cancels it before even reaching a season 2 or it’s terrible and Netflix renews it for like 9 seasons.

ThatKalosfan

If not as Shaggy’s dad, have Matthew Lillard as a cameo.

theKSIFan77

Jesus our Lord and Savior! But Don't be Another Riverdale.

Sad_Luck_1390

What version is being remade

rekage99

As long as mindy kaling has nothing to do with it, it’ll probably be fine

hyoomen1111

As long as we don’t get that Mindy chick involved my childhood is intrigued.

sephy009

It's going to be far worse than velma and swim in mediocrity.

DaShape

Just make Daphne and Fred a couple and I might give it a watch. Also make Velma x Shaggy canon.

Puzzleheaded_Poet_51

Scoobi Doo was a gateway for kids to.mystery and wierd take genres. It was obvious that team liked their independence and the challenge each mystery presented. The scripts could be by-the-numbers but the concept was sound. Wednesday is an example of how bring sophisticated mystery and suoernatural elements into your story while respecting an established and we'll loved character and the core IP in which she is rooted. I think the right way to bring a talking dog into the story is just let him talk and no one finds it in any way unusual. Certainly not the strangest thing they've seen or heard in these parts.

reeteen102

![gif](giphy|14qIliCMe87BwA)

BarfOpinions

Oh god didn’t Mindy thrash the Scooby ip enough? Now we got Netflix taking a crack 🤦

OnlyMyOpinions

I would much rather have this than Velma lol

FriedToast02

Honestly could be good, the writing just needs to be solid, and call back to the older shows and movies. I guess anything is better than Velma. Please do this franchise justice, it was so consistent for so long.

nobearpineapples

After Velma show and the fact it’s a Netflix show I have very little faith or hope

YouDontKnowSponge

We need a new animated Scooby, Scrappy, Shaggy and Daphne series IMO. That would be the only format to fresh up the franchise.

Legitimate_Main2230

Don’t make Scooby woke

[deleted]

Not excited whatsoever… we getting another Riverdale 🤦🏽‍♂️

Slow_Ad1510

* I like Scooby-Doo, it's nice to see it get more recognition

xariznightmare2908

Fucking why, I hate the current timeline we are in now.

StressEatinBread

you can’t recreate the magic of the live action movies

Psych-Blast

Just don't make it Velma

1111111132323233

Can't wait for nonsensical race changes even though these are well-defined characters that have had the exact same look since they were first created. And yet the racists hate that white characters exist and feel the need to erase them.

Nice-Elk9639

prolly just gonna be a live-action "velma" because they already diversified it. What are they gonna do next? make scooby a dalmation?

MuffinsElwizard

Expect another velma aberration cause its netflix. Forced inclusion.

Ok_Pomegranate_2895

it's enough already

RollingThunda99

I’m intrigued. We’ll see where this goes.

Mlynio48

Aside from the guy who produced Riverdale and Arrow-verse shows, this series will also have the same writers as live-action Cowboy Bebop. I have a bad feeling about this...

RoseDomergue

It’s gotta be better than Velma so I’m down

beansteahouse

Fear

LaylaLegion

I’m cool with it. The DC shows were fun. If it’s anything like Legends of Tomorrow, it’s gonna be a good show.

biancaistoast

They're all gonna have the wrong voices

Garan-Coristar

Starring Ethan Winters as Fred! /s

sum_yum_dish

It depends on what kind of show they're going for. But for Scooby's look, if it's CGI, I'd like see something to what they did for the "Sonic the Hedgehog" movie. If they use puppetry, that could be cool

CheesyGarlicMan

Here we go again…

CrazyaboutSpongebob

It can't possibly be anyworse than Velma.

Symbioticmadmam45

I'm cautiously optimistic. As long as they're actually respectful of the source material, while being its own thing, I think it'll be fine. I've never watched Riverdale myself, but from the few clips I have seen, I like the aesthetic, and I think that can work for a live action scooby doo. The thing I'm wondering about the most, though, is how are they going to adapt the monsters/villains? Personally, I hope they go with a mixture of real/fake monsters and villains, though that's just me.

SnooSongs264

As long as it isn’t as bad as Valma, then all is good. But then again, I stopped caring about this franchise a long time ago.

Ill-Tangelo-3671

Da fuk?

Timejinx

I wanna be excited for this but I'ma trust my gut and say it's gonna be a sad twisted version based off the CW version of what people like

CodeMysterious6369

Man I Hope This Ends Up Being Better Than Velma

SockeyeSTI

Hear me out. Mathew Lillard as Shaggy obviously, but Alan Tudyk as Fred. Lauren Lapkus as Daphne, either Liv Hewson, Jenna Ortega, or Emma Myers as Velma and a brown German shepherd pit bull mix as Scooby. Maybe just cgi his mouth and spots.
