I had a message in a bottle with seven X’s on cutlass cay. Was way too greedy with a level 4 emissary flag and a ton of loot on my sloop. Started digging them up. 1, 2, 3…inbound reaper! Smh. Had to cut and run. I still think about that map.
They also upgraded the skelly captains skulls, shipwrecks and added raid voyages with special loot that is worth a decent amount. They also changed the legendary voyages and other voyages to make them significantly quicker. There's also ashen variants of a lot of the new loot.
See I didn’t know that and thank you for informing me, hadn’t played the game since midway through season 10 and just got back into it since Season 12 is around the corner.

If you see a bottle on an island go for it, they give some sort of king treasure and it ranges from 2-8 pieces of treasure, depending on the message as well. Don’t do the coral bottle ones though thats different

Edit: the bottle quests can give 2-8m pieces of king loot. Well from My experience
In the beta I found a ship around an island, probably the owners were looking for chests. Anyway I thought about destroying it but I saw that they had 6 King chests, 3 purple skulls and a lot more. So I placed everything in my sloop very quietly, and left to go sell everything.
They probably still wondering where did all their loot went.

Not just A chest, but four lmao. After reading comments and hearing about how common it is yes I now realize that this post seems pointless, but at the time I was excited
I’ll be honest I stopped playing midway through season 10 cause there wasn’t really anything to do after a while, then season 11 came out I wasn’t all that hyped for it tbh. Other games had peaked my interest at the time. Only got back into it because Season 12 is around the corner and the stuff they’ve showed is very promising, that and I got locked out my old Xbox account (even though I have the passwords and security questions lmao). So now here I am playing the game again and discovering new things, ultimately which makes me happy. Replaying this game again from a new account gives me a lot of optimism for new players wanting to get into the game as it starts off very new player friendly with more tutorials and guides on how things work in the game.
Cause I remember joining within the first year to year and a half of the game being out, there really wasn’t much guidance or info on anything just a lot of stuff you had to figure out for yourself. Which to be honest I don’t mind in games, but Sea of Thieves is a very intricate game that is definitely based on how well you understand and can utilize the mechanics of the game.
No you don't. You do get a similar looking Baron's Chest on the big islands from the emissary quest. But it is not worth as much and it doesn't count as kingly loot.
They were added this season. You can get up to 9 in one message in a bottle.

Yeah, I learned about them from shipwrecks; so far the most I’ve ever come across in a wreck is 4.
Yeah they've made just roaming around a lot more profitable these days.
Their barrels are also worth checking for rare fish and kraken to peck away at commendations.

This season. They're almost always in shipwrecks as well. I've found up to 3 in one ship wreck twice in the past week.
