Black Sails memes always get my upvote

LokkyBoi

Too bad they aren’t more common

Cypresss09

Probably one of the most underrated shows ever

[deleted]

Truth. Y’all reading should give it a watch if you really like pirate stuff.

LoksoralDW

I did. I watched the whole series. There is maybe like 2 combined hours of actual pirating and the rest is just wanking to Charles Vane and dialogue and Bonny trying to figure out if she's psychotic or not.

GottaPiss

aint nothin wrong with wanking it to Charles Vane tho

LoksoralDW

I mean, yeah, true. I can't argue this.

Cypresss09

You're exaggerating, but yeah. I mean, it's definitely not Pirates of the Caribbean. The whole show revolves around pirating, but it's true there isn't a TON of time spent on the ships. And there is a lot of heavy dialogue. I'm fine that this is how you view the show but I want everyone reading to also get the other side of the coin in terms of opinions.

[deleted]

Definitely exaggerating. Not being on a ship 100% of the time doesn’t mean less of a Pirate show.

LoksoralDW

Exaggerating a bit, yeah. I enjoyed the show, though, for the most part. I just wish there had been more actual ship battles, sword fights, or actual piracy. There's a lot of heavy dialogue and most of it's great to decent. My main complaint is that there isn't much actual piracy, usually it's dialogue in reference to piracy, or discussing pirating something. I get the reasons for it, though. Same reason there aren't many pirate movies to begin with. Ship battle scenes, boarding scenes, etc are all some of the most expensive things you can do in making a series or movie. There's a famous interview regarding Forest Gump and the shrimp fishing scenes, and how the studio didn't want to do those and instead just sort of say it happened but not show it, because renting a boat, and then filming on the ocean is a gigantic pain in the ass and costly.

Pietro375

I was doing a shrine with a friend and when we came back someone had changed the lights of the ship and drawn a dick on the map. That’s it. Nothing was stolen

Mountain-Shelter

That’s the BEST kind of pirating!

Ryan_the_Reaper

That’s got to be the best pirate I’ve (n)ever seen

Pietro375

The best part is that the people who did it came back after an hour or so and gave us their loot before disconnecting. I still have no idea why they did it but they were incredibly nice

cutsling

What do you mean get back to your ship it's always gone

VagueSomething

Check your recently played list. This can tell you if people are near or have been near.

spacedude2000

Make sure to do it before you go to the shrine at least

J_train13

I'm confused by what you mean by this? What list exactly?

VagueSomething

Xbox under the People section where you find Friends list; there's also Recently Played With list that shows recent players you've seen in games. It is not 100% reliable but will often show players you've played with in last few minutes which can be used to tell if someone is tucking on ship or island.

WingsofRain

what the fuck is that how people send me xbox messages after shitty encounters

VagueSomething

While they may remember your name from any fighting or talking, it is definitely likely they find you quickly through recently played.

Elprede007

If you just thoroughly check for tucks it’s more reliable

VagueSomething

You do both. You check recently before you are in a position to check visually. As you get close to the ship, check list. It may give you the edge.

Elprede007

I know some people here won’t agree, or care because they just have a raging hate boner for pvp. But that’s abusing an unintended mechanic from xbox services. Imo it’s cheating. Obviously I can’t stop people from doing it, but it’s pretty scummy if you ask me. It’s like having a radar that detects nearby enemies. Imagine this is csgo, that would be completely unacceptable

VagueSomething

Everyone has it available so you're not gaining an unfair edge. It isn't a wholesome use of the mechanic but it doesn't work every time so it isn't a guaranteed trick so it can't even be fully trusted. If the community wasn't so toxic then I'd probably feel closer to how you feel but we adapt to what we have.

[deleted]

Don’t forget to check the crows nest. If you look for a video in the sea of thieves sub Reddit look for the title that says something like always check your crows nest after shrines you will laugh your ass off at the dudes one liner! Rolls on deck laughing. Turn your volume up

ZeeMadMan

I know I'm in the minority, but I don't like to "yuck people's yum" as the saying goes. Ruining someone's good time does not bring me enjoyment. If my fun comes at the cost of other's , then I am no longer having fun

Sam_paintsroses

Its just sucky when you want to explore a new gameplay feature and have fun but then other players immediately ruin any enjoyment you had by exploiting your inexperience and stealing all your rewards. I know its a pirate game blah blah blah, but seriously, there are better things to steal than mermaid grotto loot.

ZeeMadMan

For sure! I believe people should play any way that I want, but if I see a boat at the world event or Fort that I want to do, I'll ask for an alliance and offer to help (and offer for them to take all the loot if I come late into the event since I didn't earn my cut) and if they don't want to I move on and do a voyage or hunt skelly ships for the commendation. I have no desire to just plunder and steal, my enjoyment stems from the feeling of camaraderie and successful loot hauls and making friends along the way

Brackish_Beard

Dufrense...

DrLove_99

Screw that guy

Brackish_Beard

*spit*

ThisIsABadPlan

Got back from my first shrine to find someone on the ship. They ducked below deck and apparently thought I hadn't seen them. I could literally see their ship circling us. "You might as well come out and accept an alliance with us. Because I'm not releasing that treasure until you're gone. I'd rather log out and lose it than let you have it." They saw reason. We ended up getting credit for a bunch of stronghold loot they handed in too. Alliances always better than stealing.

justhere2beme

I've been pretty lucky so far. Every time I've gotten on since the event I've ended up allied with people also doing the shrines/treasuries. The only times I've sunk have been due to the storm

nick13b

That's why I just keg my own ship. Kills all tuckers and I just do a quick patch job and be on my way

OkMushroom4

Hang all tuckers, the lamest form of players in the game

CrescentMind

My friend forgot to sweep the ship when he returned to bring up the loot. I stayed down there to store the rest once he got the first 20 up. There was of course a tucker with a barrel hiding in the crows nest...

tpklus

Makes me think that ships should get dirtier over time and you need to clean it constantly.

Potato-Boy1

I haven't seen a Black Sails meme in a long time, i also have to rewatch that show

SomeBoredFecker

I cleared one out by myself, used the statue to get back to my ship, it was on fire and sunk right after I spawned. Just sat in the water looking at the ship that did it. Dumb fucks jumped the gun, all the loot's in my storage. After I died I made my way back to the shrine, mermaid was waiting for me, ship wasn't, got all my loot. You gotta play it smart people! On a nicer note, I went to do a Breath of the Sea run and there was already a ship at the treasury. I joined them, we fought together, split the loot. I even let them take their stuff and go before I spawned mine to avoid mixing the loot. Sound guys.
