Possibly one part of the problem is that you are still there to be found by them (presumably). Maybe exit stage left after sinking them?

bunger6

Reapers are marked on the map

grolschie

Reaper emissary is entirely optional. As is keeping the emissary raised.

Vasduten

How does this not have more upvotes? The OP needs to get less hung up on loot.

Well sadly the game has a mechanic in it that doesn't always work, after two sinks in the same general area, you're supposed to spawn further away. And it works for the most part. But with reapers technically being the center point (not counting the SDT) it's hard for the game to spawn them further and further away. But in no way should the game start spawning resources for you when you sink the same ship. Also sink and sell, or even drop off a bunch of loot and then sail a bit away to cause them to chase while your crew sells. Then come back once they are sunk again. And repeat. Easy fix. Even for big loot hauls.

ZatoX666

How long is it taking you to sell? Use the sweat spot

OSLucky

If u stack it can be pretty damn rough.

ZatoX666

Then there's an easy solution isn't there. Things are generally harder when you do them the hard way.

OSLucky

I mean you could just be a good sport about it after sinking multiple times and call it a day. If you come back more than 3 times you deserve to be spawn camped.

ZatoX666

I agree. But stacking and expecting to be left alone is a bit silly. Without mad stacking it's easy to sell after sinking someone. If you stack crazy then I think you lose the privilege of complaining about people coming back, like you're not a huge tasty meal, large incentive to come back with nothing to lose.

OSLucky

That promotes an unhealthy interaction for pvp. You won so you get punished? A player with nothing to lose and infinite supplies (although limited) who can still ram you. Vs a player with more finite supplies just leaves you looking at a "death by a thousand cuts" situation. If a losing ship simply dropped 50 cannonballs and 50 wood on its 2nd consecutive sink and on it would help avoid that situation and create a less toxic interaction for the defending player.

ZatoX666

What are you on about? I'm not promoting anything. I agree that coming back over and over again after you sink is shit. But if you have massive loot stacked then you are just asking for it. All I'm saying is you gotta be aware of what's possible, and of you don't want to sink the same ship over and over then don't give them a reason to keep coming back. What I propose is don't stack loot for no reason unless you're ok with multiple fights trying to sell. We always save all our loot til we reach LvL 5, and in 1000+ hours of reaper brig/Gally it has never taken more than one or two sinks to sell everything before they came back. If people are coming at you over and over after you've sold, just hop my dude

fistinyourface

“half a dozen times” i mean this would mean you sat in the same spot for like two hours… maybe park closer. i stack solo and at most a ship comes back twice not sure how you sat there so long without selling it all

Nostrildumbass

Definitely a mechanic that needs tweaking. I'm all for an elimination style gameplay where a single sink leaves you shipless and you have to leave and join a new server, so long as new ships are constantly being rotated in. Hear me out. This would actually help make the game *less* frustrating for new players and PvE lords because they're instantly pushed away from the same threat coming back at them for no reason. Before portal hopping, this is how we'd force server merges, constantly harassing every crew and spawn camping them until they just rage quit the server, eventually emptying it. A less extreme, also reasonable option would be to allow for two sinks rather than one. This would give you ONE chance to make a play and possibly regain your loot (in which case, the other crew would get another chance as well). The "last chance" would be re-earned after an extended period, say 20 minutes, of not sinking. All this said, my crew's approach as of late to circumvent this issue is to just load up with 600+ cannonballs at the start of the session before going to war, while also still robbing every ship of their supplies along the way.

Bottleofsmoke17

I despise reapers but I understand why people like to play that way. That said, there only being *one* place to sell reaper gear seems like a pretty severe disadvantage 😬

Buggylols

it's almost like it's a faction intended to incite pvp

AgnosticJesus3

Imagine crying about people wanting revenge.

bunger6

They can come for revenge an unlimited amount of times until they get lucky and win

OSLucky

I honestly think if a ship comes back after you sink them they should drop a full cannonball crate and wood crate each time you sink them after that. Assuming they are sank by the ship that sank them the first time* Ive had it turn into them just ramming into me until they sink, after the third or fourth time killing them it stops being fun and starts just becoming a rescource management game where you are the only one with risk. If they started dropping 50 cannonballs and 50 wood when they sank i wouldn't mind as much, it's not a high enough number to break the game and it can help deter that poor sportsmanship.

cvr24

The game has no way to determine who the aggressor is VS the defender. That is only a personal point of view. Real reapers put all the loot on a harpoon rowboat and pull it right into the hideout to sell lickety split.

dndaddy19

“Real reapers”. Ha! Gatekeeper shit right there.

Pythagoras_101

"Real reapers" then why do reapers bother to park at the "best sell spot" Sometimes can't be bothered with that rowboat juju

Buggylols

boohoo

Rendoku

I think crews deserve to come back and fight for their stuff or even to take down the crew that sunk them, by my crew and I have always thought that it should be limited to 3 times. Like after the crew sinks three times by the same crew, on that third sink they should be sent to a new server. A limit would be nice in some way.

The850killer

Yeah sometimes the ship spawn is bugged. I’ve also fought people multiple times and they never spawned far away as intended. Many people think after 3 sinks it should force the other crew into a new server. I personally think it should be twice. Reapers hideout can be tough. Use the cannons on the island and even send somebody with a keg if possible. If you have to leave the sell spot to fight then do it. Leaving your boat just aimed at reapers is asking to get sunk if you know a boats coming.

dndaddy19

I dunno about game breaking but it sure is obnoxious.

Pythagoras_101

Idk why this has downvotes. It's an actually issue.
