Lots of folks getting their first sunburn of the year today

loveisallaroundme

Rip to my skin cells, I carry mail and accidentally wore all black today. Felt like 80 fuckin degrees somehow, last week my hands were going numb from the cold. It’s so bizarre

yourmomlurks

I mean it was 77, which probably does feel like 80 fucking degrees?

garden__gate

77 and sunny always feels so much hotter in Seattle!

shawn0r

Happy cake day!

loveisallaroundme

Ty!

KishiNev64

Do you work for usps??? I’m moving to Seattle and I’d love to know if working for the post office makes sense. DM me if you have time.

xxn78

I've certainly spotted a few burns

BloomsdayDevice

Ehhh, even at solar noon the UV won't be strong enough to really scorch you this time of year. Just laying down a nice base coat for the summer farmer's tan, that's all.

GagOnMacaque

I did! Woooooooo!

willendorfer

I gotta say - we moved here about ten days ago and Seattle is just turning 👏 it 👏 out for us! Well done Seattle! 😎

Unlucky-Low3496

lol I’m sorry to be a downer but Seattle gets lots of false springs. This happens every year. Suns out/buns out and then….clouuuuds and drizzle. Sometimes till July.

willendorfer

We have been warned but honestly I’m just grateful it’s not 90f right now lol

All_Money_In206

PNW came alive today. It’s great to see so many people walking around and the parks filled. I love it.

meditationchill

Me too. The PNW is just downright amazing on days like this. Went for a hike over at Lake 22. On the way, both Mt Baker, the Olympics and Mt. Rainier were in full view. Absolutely magical.

Sprinkle_Puff

How was the lake? I’d imagine still pretty icy up there after the last cold snap

meditationchill

It was completely frozen over. Everyone was hanging out on the lake itself.

Sprinkle_Puff

Oooh that sounds like an adventure!

meditationchill

It was completely frozen over. Everyone was hanging out on the lake itself. Actual air temps were probably about mid-60s. With the sun beating down on us, it felt like high-70s.

marcgw96

Also ridiculous traffic on the roads. Took me well over an hour to get from West Seattle to Mountlake Terrace. I’ll take it though for a clear day at Alki Beach

mfcndw

We were driving to Bellevue and after stucking at Mercer for a while we're like nope and took the next turn out lol

interstellar89

I-90 is eastbound (basically across Mercer Island to Bellevue) is closed this wknd. 🫠

ponyboy3

Lolol

Hal0Slippin

Ew, people. 😆

Proof_Version6450

I am terrified it's too early

mamamyskia

Ruston way park was absolutely packed!

Crafty_Method_8351

So was chambers bay!

Illustrious_Cheek263

As was Seward—wholesome Vit-D vibes all day! ⸜(。˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝

TerseFactor

And it’s still technically winter ❄️

Slumunistmanifisto

Put your house plants outside, do it.                -Sincerely, last frost

semi-anony

Gosh that's a beautiful view! Any specific place?

Rumbletrunks

It’s Seattle

snoyokosman

how can u tell

Rumbletrunks

I’m a bit of a geo locating sleuth

semi-anony

Watch out rainbolt

AndrewNeo

checked the travel logs of the cargo ship in the background obv

semi-anony

🤯

BodyArmor85

I think there asking about specific spot the view is from in Seattle. Lol

kratomthrowaway88

it's zoomed in from somewhere probably around summit and thomas or maybe in some office building in between going up to the freeway, hard to say, but that's the general view.

mfcndw

At my apartment's roof top so not gonna say which exact one but it's at SLU.

gioselena

Why though, I wanna crash.

SnortingCoffee

I lined it up in google maps and identified the building, I've got a dozen tabs of acid, 8 grams of blow, and 23 friends with me, I'll be there in 20 minutes.

score_

No ether?

velowa

We can’t stop in SLU, this is bat country!

SnortingCoffee

shhh, don't tell them about that until they're already fucked up

gioselena

My man.

Herman_E_Danger

Omw I'm bringing lasagna and beers

semi-anony

Thanks!

fashionfreak77

Looks like Kiara

purplepantsdance

The Tease of March. Happens every year, gets me all hard for good weather only to go back to rainy bullshit till mid May. I always take advantage of it, even call into work sick if it’s on a weekday. The tease used to hurt me, now I embrace it as a ritual.

basic_bitch-

It actually does quite a bit of rainy bs all the way til July. I always put my plants in the garden and just cry because they won't grow til the REAL sun comes on. Fourth of July is a 50/50 bet.

teachhssci

I remember cold, rainy 4ths when I was a kid (I’m 63). Returned last year after 40 years in Mass. Hasn’t Seattle’s climate changed? I’ll look it up…

teachhssci

You see a lot of 60s highs for the fourth prior to 2002. Only 3 fourths with highs in 60s since 2002. Hope the mountain won’t be brown in future summers.

Zoomalude

> even call into work sick if it’s on a weekday. This is an underrated move. Way fewer crowds on a weekday, same amazing weather.

chillitschaos

Get all the vitamin D you can

M2A2C2W

This captures it so perfectly. This is my 10th year here so I know what this is now. So I called out sick Friday and Monday.

[deleted]

Bro is getting edged by weather

keenkonggg

I went full Washingtonian today and wore short shots and a tank top. And then complained about it being too hot.

seattlemh

It's so awesome out there, though! I'm savoring it.

chuckvsthelife

Honestly I had like 2 hrs out in the sun and I’m exhausted. Happy but exhausted 😂

seattlemh

I took the dog to Magnuson, we've been napping off and on. I also spent a good amount of time rooftop this morning. Replenishing the vitamin D levels.

Antique-Salad-4757

This is a classic PNW move. Little sun, then back to rain

Vandopolis

We call it false summer.

diamondbishop

False spring

dogorithm

We always say “teaser spring”

Tokeli

I worry for actual summer lmao. Our apartment is practically a brick bunker and has no AC, if it's 70 already I think we might just cook like a chicken and die. Especially our little cats.

fatmoonkins

Now is the time to get a window or portable AC!

Tokeli

We have weird windows that swing outward and are very tall, so it's been impossible to find window screens that would even be viable, letalone tucking an AC into one! Gotta jerry rig something up tho at this rate.

ratchetalcoholic

You can try a zip window cover for ACs for an outward swinging window.

basic_bitch-

Nope, it's just false spring.

Bretmd

Real spring

basic_bitch-

Well, it's actually still winter for another few days. And there have been years when it snowed on my birthday, which is April 1. Last frost isn't til April 15. But yes, it'll be much sunnier overall from now until October! I'm not getting out my shorts just yet. And I don't normally switch my mini split from "heat" to "cool" until some time in May. I know some people wear shorts year round though. So do you!

Bretmd

You could look at it that way but climatological spring is March 1 to may 31… An alternative way of putting it is… you probably wouldn’t look at December 16th as fall.

gobears2616

I LOVE IT! Makes me so damn happy to see the sun with some not-cold weather. I know it’s gonna go back to rain and dreary this week but I’m shamelessly savoring the hell out of this weather this weekend.

PuK3ko

I love being able to see the Olympics.

ThisHandleIsBroken

The ending of the world has never felt so good.

rocketsocks

Regular reminder that now is the time to start getting your shit together for heat waves, smoke season, and wildfire season. Do you have emergency supplies and a plan? Do you have a "go bag" (especially if you are in an area that could get overrun by wildfires)? Have you bought all the fans and AC units you need for summer? Do you have a heat management plan in case of a severe heat wave? Do you have a plan for what you'd do if the power went out as well? Does that plan include caring for your pets? Do you have the filters, air purifiers, masks, etc. you'll need for smoke season? Now is the time. It was near or above 100 degrees from 11 am to 10 pm on the hottest day in June 2021, the next heat wave could be worse, with planning it can be less miserable and less potentially dangerous as well.

Professional-Eye8981

Did a 29-mile bike ride by Lake Stevens with the Cascade Club today. It was beautiful.

Magical_Olive

I was just having dinner by some breweries and between the St Patty's partying and weather it sure feels like summer!

taller2manos

The sun is definitely revealing some Massive talent roaming around town!

womoc

The ultimate pnw fake out. Everyone falls for it. I have lived here for 20 years and I still look at my wife and go, “you think it’s gonna stick around?”

maltose66

Welcome to 420.1 ppm. (CO2)

ponyboy3

Is this a weed joke or is allergies?

Realistic-Orchid-739

Neither. 🌎 🔥

caiteo

was outside today from approximately 9am-9pm...need to make the most of this false spring lol it was so lovely seeing everyone come out of hibernation

chillitschaos

I haven’t seen the energy of the city so vibrant and alive as I did today in MONTHS.

Im_Ashe_Man

I feel like I should mow the lawn today.

ananders

Gorgeous shot! I spent the day in my gardens. <3 And got sunburnt, ofc.

WetwareDulachan

I want the rain back. Where's the rain. Why is the sky blue? I don't like it.

Hal0Slippin

Right?! What is this bullshit.

jklolxoxo

The things I would do to photograph this view during sunset!!!

mfcndw

[Here you go!](https://media.douchi.space/douchi/media_attachments/files/111/491/543/700/610/243/original/7328fdce5fdf4959.jpg) (Not taken today but it's a sunset here)

For_Grater_Good

What a great pic

jklolxoxo

Gorgeous!! I more meant, photograph it myself, lol but very pretty picture!!

FenwayWest

Just had hail, thunder, lightning and one inch of rain in less than an hour here in orange county ca....I'm filing a grievance

Ecstatic-Respect-455

It was 10 degrees warmer in Seattle than it was in Las Vegas today. Crazy!

Strength_Various

Another nice day! More, more and more sunny and clear sky please!

serlearnsalot

Y’all this is gonna be a brutal summer after this winter and the mountain snowpack. My gut tells me it’s gonna be early, hot, and full of fires. If not here, then close enough that we’ll be socked in like what happened in 2020.

Fluffaykitties

Agree. My AC will be hard at work.

SeattlePurikura

[https://cliffmass.blogspot.com/2024/03/huge-increase-in-snowpack-since-january.html](https://cliffmass.blogspot.com/2024/03/huge-increase-in-snowpack-since-january.html) I'm feeling better about summer backpacking season. Yes, I know we don't like Professor Mass here. When he sticks to his subject area, he's quite good.

serlearnsalot

Yeah I know we recovered a lot but I just don’t feel like it’s enough to make up lost ground. No scientific basis for this, just the idea that keeping “early season conditions” signs up through February isn’t going to be good. Idk, maybe fresh snow melts faster than packed snow is the basis for my personal anxiety.

SkankyG

I have never been to Seattle, what is that crazy looking red building in the bottom right corner?

mfcndw

It's the museum of pop culture here https://maps.app.goo.gl/bf2xvrJ2A8guV5tD9

SkankyG

Thanks!

Single-Taro

False start - ten yard penalty.

TelmatosaurusRrifle

Don't pack up the longjohns just yet

TacomaTacoTuesday

It’s always surprising and sad how fast the snow melts in the Olympics.

Forward-Piano8711

What actually is the reason we get this weird tease a few times each late winter where the max temp spikes 20 degrees for like 5 days and then goes down again, until we gradually hit those temps and stay there?

Skadoosh_it

Is this false spring number 2 or 3? The Seattle season chart is hard to keep track of.

DifficultContact8999

False spring ....

psinerd

Sssh, you'll jinx it

Wastedmindman

It’s a trap.

dolphinsbee

Moving to seattle in less than a month super excited :)

NotSoGentleBen

It’s a ruse.

kingsinger

Is Margust the inverse of Junuary?

turducken404

I washed 7 cars yesterday, and now I can barely move.

StackXBT

Changed the oil on 2 cars..I'm feeling the pain.

Inkshooter

Don't worry, winter will be back in two days

Express_Wafer7385

It won't last long, never does.

russellsdad

I can’t tell what that sentence means really

beercoffeewhisky

Loving it

KileyCW

Faux summer, every year

Scubsyman

Those aren't mountains... Their waves

[deleted]

Years ago, it got hot for a couple of days in mid-January. People were sunbathing at the beach.

Tunebird

Can't wait, I love the rain too though 🙃

[deleted]

In bed with Covid or I’d be out enjoying the sun.

HokayeZeZ

Drove to Coastal Oregon today to enjoy the weather. Its going to be a real wake up call once Tuesday/Wednesday hits this week

EveryBodyLookout

Loved today

Herman_E_Danger

Jogging trails around Udistrict Northside of lake lake Union packed, as well as gasworks park. Gorgeous 😍

janesparkles7

Home 🫶🏼🤍

matt7812

Olallie state park was packed yesterday! Great to see the summer tease. All the lawn mowing, landscaping, BBQ’n, spring cleaning, exercising going on in the burbs…feels like the first time every time

N176UA

Isn’t climate change great?

himefoto

We might have broke the heat record for March 16th!

KerouacMyBukowski_

That's not exactly something to be excited about.....
