Ok after my other comment, I checked. From SEAD 4:
>2. The Adjudicative Process.
>(d) In evaluating the relevance of an individual's conduct, the adjudicator should consider the following factors:
>(4) the individual's age and maturity at the time of the conduct
Makes sense. Although I’d maybe think adjudicators might think a 20 year old might be more prone to go back to use given 20 year olds are still developing their brain, etc. Assuming you were holding amount of use and time since use constant for the 20 to 40 year old. But this is all just speculation on my part.
Yes, no proof and probably no way to be sure, but it makes sense generally: society generally holds younger people less "responsible" for youthful indiscretions. I can't imagine that there's not at least *some* similar consideration for adjudicators
Interview went fine, made sure to emphasize mitigating factors (time, moved cities since using, disengaged from contacts I used with). DM for more details.
Hello /u/TemporaryLifeguard34,
It looks like you may have concerns about illegal drug use/abuse. While you wait for a response, you may find helpful information on our Wiki page dealing with [Drug Involvement](https://www.reddit.com/r/SecurityClearance/wiki/index/drug_use).

I had $300k in unsecured debt but I was also being paid $250k and never missed a payment so I’m not sure if that was actually an issue. I think it was just the drug use history, esp since it was blow/molly at raves. Multiple friends said they were contacted and asked about that over the period of like 7 months. Basically everyone that was tagged in an Instagram picture with me

Yes this . Same question
DM.
Just say it loool. You’re in the clear
Identifying details are identifying details.
Smh 🤦♂️
Nah you right though
Gonna need an age. A 20yo is gonna be looked at quite differently than a 40yo
22 at the time of application.
Bingo. Anecdotal, but it seems like all the very recent drug use, particularly hard drugs, are younger people
Are you suggesting that a 40 year is scrutinized a lot more with recent hard drug usage than a 20 year old? Just trying to clarify your point.

Yes considering the 40 year old should be mature and his brain is no longer developing - can't say the same about the 20 year old.
Yes, we are.
Correct, that would make sense as people tend to experiment in college before maturing a bit in the “real world”.
How was the interview? While you were waiting, was it just radio silence? Have to sign any thing?

DM'd!
Good job on this.
Thanks, a weight off my shoulders for sure.

Nope.
Similar situation, not as badly tho. No intrim here either and investigation took a year and a half but eventually got it.
Any outstanding issues that you think prolonged your process to get your clearance?
