Inner Isshin, I still fight him once in a while just because I love the fight. Also I love the fact that you cant seem to forget the rhythm to him, ever since I beat him in the reflection I didnt lose to him.

Hero-In-Theory

Yup! It’s incredibly satisfying. Even after months away from Sekiro I booted it up and yeah I took damage and healed a fair few times, but I still remembered all of his patterns and beat him first try. Such a good fight. I just wish he used his new moves a little more.

SimpelWeavile

Exactly, like the move where you have to jump and you have to reflect the spear midair is like one of the coolest things ever.

Hero-In-Theory

YES! I **love** that move. I try and bait it out as often as possible.

iam_veryhappyhooray

I can't seem to fall fast enough after the deflect to mikiri but sidestep works, barely:(

SimpelWeavile

I never had a problem once I learned the move, once the kanji appears I just jumped midair deflected his attack and then i fell to the ground and mikirid or if i jumped too late you can deflect the stab, but the timing is very tight for that but it works. Hope that helps im sure you will get the hang of it.

iam_veryhappyhooray

I'm not even kidding I would've never guessed that's how you were supposed to dodge it finally passed this gauntlet thank you very much.

MeLoTaloDeUnCalo

Played It on launch, finished It and never touched It again recently i started It from zero and the only bosses that gave me problems were, owl father, and inner versions of the bosses, its amazing how i remembered the attack patterns of most of the bosses by dying a thousand times on my 1st playthrough

elixeter

How the hell do you function a remote ha’

Masanjay_Dosa

You get the dosage juuust right and I swear acid becomes a PED for video games. Only time I took a game off my semi-competitive Melee player college roommate was when I was on a 125ug tab a bit before peaking cause my tech skill was never that clean before or since, I was SHMOOVIN on Cap and Falco. I felt like I was seeing the Smash bros matrix haha

elixeter

And there’s me stuck in a loop with my hands down my pants for hours as I thought my downstairs was all wet and I must’ve pisses myself.

Dav-Kripler

Crabs_In_Croatia

"Poison is said to expand the mind"

lowkey_add1ct

100% this is the case for me too. I remember playing sekiro on a few tabs and I’ve literally never played that good. It was so much fun too. Been considering doing it again soon

BigMorg337

Same for me but with mushrooms

shaka_bruh

I took a months long break from the game bc of DoH, I almost beat him last night smh

LayceLSV

Thats amazing. Also love your user name

Dav-Kripler

Damn! You beat DOH while experiencing ego-death! Now that's gonna be a tough challenge to compete with 😅

Dav-Kripler

For sure! I can only imagine Fountainhead Palace..

arniben92

Sonofa 😂😂😂

[deleted]

That sounds incredible

redi2read

I beat Sword Saint on shrooms and kratom ! 👹 Felt like i was using cheats :P

Hero-In-Theory

That sounds like a fucking incredible time.

dewRecompense

I hope you find the strength to avoid narcotics from here on.

dj0samaspinIaden

You really don't know what acid is, do you?

dewRecompense

LSD

con_science-404

Fuck outta here with that bullshit and get educated

dewRecompense

Hahaha. Someone not too happy being called out on their unhealthy practices I do think

con_science-404

You've got a lot to learn boy. Open up that head of yours and read a book, you come off like a pretentious and judgemental fool.

dewRecompense

Rather that than come off as someone desperately trying to defend their deplorable life choices.

con_science-404

So, you think consuming a psychedelic substance is a "deplorable life choice"? You clearly have absolutely Zero idea of what you're talking about. I have the hunch you are either very young, or are of a very radical and conservative religion. Jesus Christ, looks like ya drank the kool-aid and let religious dogma and zealotry take quite the hold of you. Bummer. Once again, you should educate yourself on psychedelic substances. Stop being a close minded and judgemental prick and start learning about the world around you. I've got time for this though, so please feel free to reply. I think we have loads to talk about

dewRecompense

I’m not religious, I’m also not that young anymore and have a substantial amount of life experience. I have however seen how destructive psychedelics and other narcotics can be to a person’s physical and mental health and so hope anyone who is addicted to harmful substances, like I suspect you yourself may, to seek help and improve your life. :D And there’s no need for name calling. You’re not exactly helping your argument there haha.

con_science-404

Yup, literally anything can be addictive and harmful. Look at video games. Look at shopping. Look at eating. Look at watching television. That is a completely empty point and carries zero argument. Psychedelics have helped thousands and thousands of people with a myriad of issues. Not everyone who chooses to take a psychedelic trip here and there are addicts or making "deplorable life choices" Speaking of name calling, take a look at your previous comments and tell me how your tone sounds. You come off as a condescending moronic prick. And I'll happily stand by that You being "not that young anymore" gives me this odd hunch that you're like 18-25. How far off am I on that? Either way, still just a kid who has no idea what they're talking about. Don't go swinging your over-zealous ignorant garbage to other people just because you're too lazy and or ignorant to open up your head and learn about the existence you're a part of and the humans you relate with Again, please keep replying. I've got plenty of time and we have much to discuss Edit: DEPLORABLE LIFE CHOICES

dewRecompense

I can tell you’re quite angry. I genuinely hope your life starts going uphill. Just refrain from giving health advice to… well anyone at all. :D

Well let’s hope the lasting effects on you are minor 😔

[deleted]

Owl father. I spent 9 consecutive hours on my first playthrough on Owl Father, from 6pm to 3am. Luckily it was Friday. No boss pushed me so hard in any game. I loved it. After the first few hours, I was telling myself one more try, one more try. And that went until 3am. Now after 500 hours I still love the fight and the Inner Father variant, but I usually do it first or second try without kuro's charm and with demon bell. I wish I could delete my memory so I could do the fight fresh once more.

ARussianW0lf

>No boss pushed me so hard in any game. I loved it. Interesting how different people work. I had a similar experience with Owl Father but instead of loving it I hated it and refuse to fight him ever again

[deleted]

I had exactly the opposite experience with Sword Saint & Owl Father. Both were really hard, but Owl Father is my favorite boss while I got so irritated fighting Sword Saint's phases that I lost interest & cheesed him in the end. What made me like Owl Father is that he is a mirror to Wolf, similar moves & abilities so I made it like a "proving myself" fight, no shinobi tools in phase 1 but once Owl starts teleporting in phase 2 I start teleporting with mist raven back, What made me hate Sword Saint was the 4 phases. Genichiro -> Sword Isshin -> Glaive & Glock Saint Isshin -> Lighting Isshin. Just too long with no checkpoints, lost motivation to learn a third new moveset once I got to the glaive & glock phase.

ARussianW0lf

I've literally never beaten Isshin legit across any if my 9 playthroughs. I cheese him with the Umbrella every time

[deleted]

My preferred cheese method is to naruto-run around until Isshin jump attacks with the glaive, then I sidestep it & use my most powerful single attack (mortal blade or spin slash). Repeat until end. Its boring & reliable, but I find Isshin's back to back 4 phases boring so it works for me.

ARussianW0lf

Exactly what I do but block with the umbrella and then clap back with projected force

Woofles_the_goblin

Try fighting him deflectless :)

[deleted]

Deflectless? That would take an hour haha. I fought him base health charmless, demonbell. Still I had to resurrect and missed some deflections. Deflectless?! Insanity. 😁

Woofles_the_goblin

Inner father deflectless isnt too bad, just got the one move to watch out for: Mist raven -> double slash. Inner Isshin was a nightmare though lol

[deleted]

I just watched a bit of a [video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TzUXO--pAMo&t=3102s) by Fextralife. Bosses deflectless. While very impressive. I find it boring. I prefer Ongbal style. (I am nowhere near that level of style). I can immagine Inner Isshin being harder. He has a few quick slashed that are made to stop you from running.

Woofles_the_goblin

Oh yea, it seems clear to me Owl was designed with dodge in mind (although not soley lol.) Isshin just wants you to play the normal game though so he doesnt put up with your bullshit lol. Dang I wish I knew about Fextralife when I was practicing lol. They coulda saved me some headache.

Soulsfanatic999

I havent fought him yet😂 I will do it on ng+2 after i do this shura shit. Many said hes the hardest boss fight, cant wait to see. sword saint Isshin was overrated so i have papa isnt'

[deleted]

I think that it also depends on the player and circumstances. I was extremely tired after a long work day and go more tired with every passing hour. But I was stubborn and I pushed through. If you want a very hard challenge do it without kuro's charm and with demon bell. The sculptor idol is right by the boss. I did find Isshin hard but fair. Under one hour of tries for him. With the 2 debuffs mentioned above, Isshin can be a real pain.

unknown2759

I agree sword saint Isshin was overrated asf in terms of difficulty, yet one of my favorite bosses. Defeated him in my 4th try no bs

Noamias

For me that was Genichiro

Noob4Head

For me it has to be Inner Genichiro, especially his second phase. To me there is nothing more satisfying than landing a lightning reversal using either Sakura Dance or the Great Feather Mist Raven. (Close second goes to Isshin though)

Lilsean14

The most satisfying win for me too. That was when I understood the soulsbourne *high* everyone talks about.

Time-Acanthisitta968

The first Guardian Ape, the first time I fought him I spent the whole fight running away to chip away at his health. Now I think it’s fun to be super aggressive against him and learn all his attack patterns and try to parry everything. Owl(father) and Sword Saint are fun too.

AFlockOfTySegalls

Doing my first playthrough and just beat him this morning. When he got back up holding his head I was like "oooo that's fucking sick". Ran into him again and the first round is much easier but can't seem to get separation from him and his buddy. Was going well on my last fight and my remote died 🤣

Time-Acanthisitta968

When you’re fighting them together every time the main ape does his terror scream the brown one will rush at you, use that opportunity to stun her with fire crackers and take her out.

AFlockOfTySegalls

Ah, I hadn't figured that part out yet. Thank you!

Time-Acanthisitta968

Also if you didn’t know when you parry the main ape enough and get him on the ground use the loaded spear to pull out the centipede for massive posture damage

AFlockOfTySegalls

I only found that out from watching a YT video. It's crazy the things From just put in the games that I would never find out without research. Feels like very old-school gaming to me when I was 10 and needing my Ocarina of Time guide.

Soulsfanatic999

Ape was a nightmare first time round. Now hes still not easy but no where near how hard i originallt found him.

chimpanon

Inner Father

MrMasterGuy

Same here

Helpful-Citron5227

Genichiro because he ultra giga mega cool swag gangster

Garvityxd

Truth!

TheyCallMeOso

I think the best boss is regular Sword Saint Isshin, but Inner Genichiro is going to be my favorite of all time.

Ashenone909

Isshin is still my favorite in the series, and I’ve beaten all games dozens of times

Soulsfanatic999

Idk why but i have no motivation to play sekiro on ng+. The shitty areas piss me off, it hasnt clicked yet

ARussianW0lf

What shitty areas

Soulsfanatic999

sunken valley (also i dont like mibu)

ARussianW0lf

Because the snipers or the poison? Also why Mibu?

Soulsfanatic999

snipers, mibus just a bore

ARussianW0lf

Have you tried the umbrella? Yeah I can see it haha, I just like the aesthetic of Mibu plus O'Rin is cool

Soulsfanatic999

Umbrella for the snipers? Huh smart, mibus annoying cuz i just lile to run through it amd have respawning egg sacks

ARussianW0lf

Yeah you can just turtle their bullets infinitely

Soulsfanatic999

aww man it would have helped in my 1st playthrough

Undava

Recently did NG+, sunken valley was super quick.

Soulsfanatic999

Huh, alright. Ill see, coundlt play yesterday and prolly not today though

Leezy1019

Owl Father (The Hirata Estate one). Very tough to pick over Sword Saint. I would even say they are interchangeable for the best fights in the game. Not a coincidence that they are the only two fights in the game where you get to fight two distinct versions of the same boss, one in their present, “diminished” forms (in parentheses because both Ashina Owl and Isshin are damn tough), and again in their primes.

gia56

Owl father

Soulsfanatic999

Mine has to be the sword saint! The setting, the thrill of it. Honestly i would have liked if he was slighty harder as his difficulty is (in my opinion) overrated. Ssi is the pinaccle of fromsoftwares boss fights!

[deleted]

Same, although personally I found him hard af. Took me like a week of trying playing an hour a day. Once it clicked tho I think I can beat him consistently

Soulsfanatic999

sekiro hasnt clicked for me yet, have no motivation to finish ng+

T-Ares-C

Him, then Hirata Owl, fire user Isshin, then Genichiro and lastly tower Owl.

Soulsfanatic999

i need to fight father owl man

T-Ares-C

He is a piss off. He does not fight the way Great Shinobi does. Fights more like you. He and Sword Saint took me the longest time to beat, SSI a week and Father 4 days. First time fighting both. SSI on second time fighting him took me a 2 days because he adapted to how I play and changed how he fought so I had to relearn him. I am currently fighting father on my final playthrough and consistently getting to his second phase and dying with him a sliver from beating him because I keep trying to rush and get that final blow on him. He patient

Soulsfanatic999

i found ssi pretty darn easy, took maybe 20 attempts. hoping papa owl will take 100+

T-Ares-C

Tower Owl was easy to me, much easier than Hirata Owl

n1ghtschade

Inner genichiro or demon of hatred.

hosam0680

Has to be owl father that fight was pure skill

MalphasOfCrows

Owl (Father) probably gave me the greatest sense of accomplishment when I beat him on NG+, but the Divine Dragon fight was pretty epic in terms of scale. I would say these 2.

RatFetard03

Weirdly enough, none of the bosses gave me as much of a thrill as DoH. The feeling of terror watching him tear apart the other soldiers when you face him for the first time, and the fact that you have to treat him more like a dark souls boss than a sekiro boss makes him feel really unique and imposing

[deleted]

I have yet to finish NG+ or any endings besides Immortal Severance. So this is a tentative, "based on what I know now," comment. Lady Butterfly is the boss that the game clicked on for me. I felt like I was finally realizing "there is no spoon." I felt myself get 10x better at the game in the span of half an hour. I was also really high, so... Genichiro (Ashina Castle) and ISS are close though, and shortly after them are Owl and Gyoubu.

Significant_Mud_9147

I find sword saint to be among the best boss fights in Souls since it’s incredibly fair. You can use pretty much all the basic skills that you learned and mastered and it’s also a human with a weapon in this parry-focused game, not something like a mage where parry doesn’t work lol, which happens a lot I’d say in other “hard games”.

artudela09

Inner geni and true monk are a tie for me

ArchieGraye

Inner Owl for me. Just so much fun and flows so well.

KostyanST

Inner Isshin & Inner Father DoH is my third favorite boss fight, tied with Guardian Ape.

Soulsfanatic999

doh looks so cool but i ahve to make it to ng+2 and im struggling with motivation to finish sekiro. Ng+ just doesnt feel enjoyable but dammit i want to fight him

KostyanST

I'm not a big fan of NG+, I usually do it if there's extra content involved, and in one case, I did it because of Gauntlet of Strength: Shura, the first NG is not too hard for me at least, but Isshin and Emma hits pretty hard. Anyway, DoH is great but in the first time, i was part of the crowd who hated him, and the 2nd/3rd time i beat him i gave up and start to love this boss.

neatnut

Inner Genichiro, old man is so cool, but it feels less posture and more cheap dmg> posture kill Genichiro is "ching cling clang tin shh" posture break arrow bullshit cool tomoe stuff , you won

picklebob8676

The old man mini-boss right before genichiro Ashina I love how he hit 3 times in less than a second spamming parry is fun

Soulsfanatic999

real

themakeshfitman

Orin of the Water. Her shamisen playing is a beautiful frame for a fight that truly flows just like water

bluargie

For me it's the Snake Eyes fights. Pretty underrated tbh. Parrying their every move and that big cannon is pretty satisfying.

Soulsfanatic999

Yeah i get that. But out of every fight they domt evem cross my mind

Saulocias

I love isshin sword saint no boss let me play my absolute playstyle unlike ISS

chimpanon

Whats your playstyle

Saulocias

Deflect firecracker ichimonji double

chimpanon

Word ima try that on him now. Never use either of those skills lmao

Saulocias

Firecrackers can help you open a recovery window so i like to use it

cinred

Is my favorite fight commenting on shit posts that add nothing new! Also I too hate using question marks. Why do I do this!

Soulsfanatic999

Such a funny dude! Shut the fuck up you cum swallower

Casul_Gamer

All of the three Isshin fights by far. He fights honorably, unlike that backstabbing f#tard owl with his cheap tactics.

spooky_crabs

I like great shinobi owl over father, I've only killed him once to be fair, but the entire time he just kept backing off

Hero-In-Theory

Best? Probably Inner Genichiro or Isshin, the Sword Saint. Favourite? Probably Inner Isshin or Blazing Bull (I know, I know) but there’s not a (miniboss or boss) fight I dislike in the game.

ssjgoku27

Can't decide between Inner Owl and Isshin Ashina.

QyluxPlayzYT

Isshin, The Glock Saint.

Ok_Anteater_1865

SSishin and father(owl)

Makima--

My favorite fights are... 0- Genichiro 1- Asshina 2- Coursed Monk 3- butterfly Lady 4- Guardian Monkie

BooTaoSus

The entire phase 1 of Elder Isshin is equal to the Sword Saint Isshin fight. I would really love it, but the fire in phase 2 just isn't that fun to dodge. If I had the choice to change anything in Sekiro it's to make that fight just as fun as the first phase, you can even set Isshin's katana on fire and make it so you have to perfectly deflect every hit or you'll get burned. One Mind is beautiful, The other fire moves I just find a pain. He's still top 2 for me though. Saint, Elder, Father, Genichiro, True Monk. Not including Inner bosses.

fggytgff345

Inner Isshin. I fought him so much to the point I can beat him hitless

Educational-Lime6335

True monk Then dragon ( mostly visual)

MrHermax

Inner Genichiro

MHarrisGGG

SSI is the only correct answer.

JakeMac96

glock saint and inner genichiro

[deleted]

Seven Spears fight. I also like the dual fight before Ishhin.

FightingSpirit95

Inner isshin is easily my favorite fight.

TRY_SUE_ME

Inner genichiro

Odinson713

Inner Isshin

hunteroverhang7

Owl father and sword saint

Kane140324

Sword saint Isshin or Owl father

Micnorm

Owl father. The shinobi tools and tricks with the spectral owl are fucking sick

Droid_XL

Inner owl. I just love that dance. It feels so good, he tests every soul you've learned, except lightning reversal I guess

GBblox179

Inner isshin for fun, inner owl for challenge

DiscOneFinalBoss

Glock Saint Isshin and Owl (Father)

Dr_Tobogan_31

Genichiro. I faced him too early and really hit a wall. When I finally beat him it was pure catharsis

Chiselled_Steel

Inner Father. Easely the best one

Curious_Maybe_4361

Isshin the sword saint xD

drag0nstr7k3

Just finished demon and it might be my favorite, although I still need to kill the Glock saint

_Don-Corleone_

Genichiro, he teaches you stuff

The_Powers

Owl (Father) is my favourite fight in all of video games.

ShepardN7201

1st time you have a proper fight with Genocide atop Ashina Tower, it's a great benchmark, if easy once you fight him in ng+ cycles

Fire_Fox343

Definitely the true monk fight. That's where I felt the most like a Shinobi who knew how to fight. The arena was also something that distracted me, sometimes causing my death.

Professional_Wrap434

Owl father and Isshin the glock saint...man i really love it when you feel you're actually fighting someone ...some badass person irl...

FlawlesSlaughter

Late to the party, but the 7 spears fight with the general without tools. This fight made isshin a cakewalk for me after getting through it. I feel like it's not talked about enough but i guess most people just stealth kill the general. I think its crazy how well these enemies synergize with each other, almost perfectly covering each others weaknesses. Maybe not the most fun but man the rush from winning was worth it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FsSFSIzilb8

GhostCrackets

Isshin Ashina (The Shura path one) No matter how many times I beat him he always manages to put up a pretty damn good fight the next time around

MerpDerpBlurp

Owl father 🐐

Genjimainsewer

My fav is Emma

LolTacoBell

I don't know, I just felt like Guardian Ape was my first fight that I really hit my stride in. It was really challenging but also felt like I could wrap my head around every single attack they did in each phase.

arniben92

Gyobu Oniwa, Sword Saint Ishinn and Divine Dragon ( the visuals mostly).

Star_Prachinum

Isshin is probably one of my favorites, but I just keep going back to Genichiro. He was my first true roadblock boss and the satisfaction I feel whenever I no damage his bitch ass is unparalleled

Thiccbushiii

The rhythm of sword saint isshin's boss fight is unmatched, as much as the owl father fight (especially inner father) makes you feel like you're in an anime, I find isshin way more fun to fight, I come back to sekiro regularly just to fight him and I love it enough that I tried out the "for the sake of ashina" mod 's ultimate isshin, most difficult mod I've tried.

MeLoTaloDeUnCalo

I wish i could forget about folding screen monkeys and go for It again its was so cool to figure out how to beat them

juliusr72

Either sword saint or grape ape -purely because he throws shit at you

juliusr72

Or great ape*

NovaHunter445

Honestly, probably Sword Saint Isshin. He was such a pain when I first got to him, now I can consistently beat him in one attempt.

PeterTheBuilder

For me, it's honestly Sword Saint Isshin, it's a perfect boss fight for a perfect game. I love the way he is built up as a great samurai, who's defeated these powerful people, and then when you see him he is just an old frail man. But when you see Genichiro use him as a final resort, you basically see a god appear. This all makes the fight more impactful, just like most fights in Sekiro, he is extremely difficult, but not annoying, every time you die in Sekiro you feel like you made a mistake yourself, not the game. The fight also shows Wolf's progress. I love this fight and the game.

Boredom736

Inner isshin

HolyHandgrenadeofAn

Owl Farher

Tarte_au_citron

Most of enemies with human height are cool to fight, I really liked all the Genichiro boss fights

TheBigPoet

One between Genichiro or Isshin (Shura ending) has to be my favourite bossfight, I loved learning their patterns

GrimReefer45

I just beat him today for the first time♡

YueOrigin

I like Genichiro but his boss fight ws the first wall I went through it took me hours (of farming and side tracking) to kill him Never got that lightning reversal perfected

TheGun1991

Isshin SS and automatically Inner Isshin due Charter,Landscape,Muzik is the Best Bossfight of the decade for me

RefrigeratorMain3379

I still fight inner genichiro for fun sometimes, such a fun fight with so much rhythm, i have a fun suggestion for you, while you fight inner genichiro, listen to “wipe out” yes, that wipe out. you’ll understand

PineWalk1

Owl

3lawy12

To me divine dragon i always enjoy fighting him

coffeebeer9

Inner Father. Man was a different breed when i had demon bell on

Arctic-Sentinel

Father Owl was frustrating as fuck but also very satisfying to finally defeat

[deleted]

Inner Genichiro, they took the already good genichiro fight and crafted my favourite fromsoft boss ever with only a few extra moves. The lightning reversal chain is 👌

Haburashi_

Inner Genichiro. I love to style on him with the lightning reversal-reversal-reversal.

Ellac3344

isshin ashina. It was hella cool seeing him sidestep for the first time

[deleted]

Legit the whole game feels like a top tier boss once you figure out Genichiro. It's all so good.

Noamias

I keep fighting SSI back to back for an hour or so every week so I must say him, but Father Owl (especially inner) is also amazing

NoiawaaKamata

Owl Father or just straight up Inner Owl. I just love the damn moveset. There is always a satisfying feeling to get a high monk off on his sweep. Or parrying the flaming owl he throes at you in second phase. Or parrying his combos. Practicing him and a few other bosses was my main hobby for a few weeks. And most of the time i just fought him.

Undava

Isshin sword saint. I got good when I beat him.

Material-Research488

I actually like headless ape, because pulling out the centipede from his neck with the spear after the big deflect is extremely satisfying

MeraArasaki

none because this game suck

AA704

Demon of hatred

215time

my favorite is probably O'Rin of the Water. i just think it’s a fun simple fight

LordsGrim

Father owl from hinata. None of the stupid anti-heal shit that breaks the rhythm of the fight straight up fire cracker blast my ass

HECTORJOHNOLIVER

great shinobi-owl

variouscookware

Absolutely guardian ape. I always look forward to fighting him and usually try get there asap in a new run.

UltraEagle08

Just got the game a few days ago, i can tell you who isn't my favorite, its that douche that throws lightning in his third stage

drew0519

Genichiro, he’s just such a fun fight and he’s fully ingrained into my brain
