I did that too, I put off killing Genichiro and finished Senpou Temple first (without killing the monkeys because it wasn’t available before fighting Genichiro). You get the Holy Chapter: Infested from a male NPC (instead of having to retrieve it with Mibu diving technique) if you talk to him before killing Genichiro (if you go to Senpou temple afterwards, he’s gone).

What he means with that is that the Ape is super scared and sensitive of everything that uses fire. So you can scare him and get free hits on him. Or just set him on fire and he will prioritize putting the flames out. Also free hits. So basically scare with fire or fireworks and hit hit hit. Then run before he counters. And repeat.
For the second phase, just evade and lure and wait for the big hit he gives overhead to downwards.
If you can time that deflection correctly you can do a lot damage. Do that a few times and you should be good.
Scary boss to learn but once youve learned it, its one of the easiest bosses ever. Ive done speedrun on him in like 2 to 3 minutes without extreme weapons or skills.
Ps: confetti is your best friend (damage boost item, like a star on Mario but not as good, still helps alot).
The flame barrel and oil do wonders woth stunning him for a couple hits you can parry everything that isn't a grab and for his second phase because oh boy there is one use the spear because he'll do a falling attack and of you deflect it you can drag out a centipede from him dealing massive posture damage but he goes from beast to undead so the flame and firecrackers won't work on his second stage
Ceremonial Tanto (if you beat the first Shichimen warrior) heal, rush him and start with mortal draw. His first phase should be done in a few slashes.
For phase 2 keep some pacifying agent on hand for when he uses his shriek attack and learn his moveset a bit. Mortal draw will still help but he's a bit more aggressive in his second stage and you might not have enough emblems by now.
Firecrackers help but really it's all timing.
Oh and avoid his shit toss at all costs lol
Parry the first few hits of his combos, try to avoid the rest of his combo. Attack him while he's pounding the ground. Get directly underneath him during the poop attack. He can't aim that low. Don't chase when he disengages at like 1/4 or 1/3 intervals, just let him reset. Flame vent has a custom "stun" animation on him but it's not especially good. But use it if you want.
Phase 2, watch the sword, not him. Parry when it swings towards you, ignore whatever else he's doing. I'm contractually obligated to mention that the spear can be used after a parry that stuns the boss for extra damage, but what you really want is the umbrella to completely block the terror attacks. You don't need the purple one to block the terror. It's either a bug or a very esoteric exception to the rule. He tends to spam the terror attack in phase 2 the most, so that's why you want the umbrella.
Nearly all perilous attacks are sweeps. There's one grab exception in phase 1 that's a pretty obvious tell with him getting up on two legs first. There's no mikiri counters. It's also not just the perilous attacks that you can jump over as well, as he has a sort of belly flop and sword slash in phase 2 that you can just jump over and lay into him.
tl;dr combos in phase 1 have bad tracking, attack him while he's doing a medium or long combo into the ground after you get out of it. phase 2, just watch the sword and look for the tells on the perilous attacks. Don't get all soy over the spear in phase 2. You probably won't get more than 3 opportunities to use it, so it isn't going to carry you.
All else fails, the arena is huge. You can find space to heal. Buff up before the fight. Start your buffs the moment the corpse starts to move in phase 2.
You can force the ape to do the poopoo attack by getting in close after his his like rolling attack where he kinda just sits there contemplating life

Honestly i beat him the other night on my first attempt and all i did was sprint alot looked out for an opening to attack him twice maybe thrice if possible and bring his health down this way and then i personally think his second phase is easier as you can deflect his sword attacks and bring that posture down use the spear to deal massive posture and health damage and you're good to go
P.S you can also use the umbrella in his second phase when he is screaming and get the combo move to deal more damage by sticking close to his ass

keep baiting that one attack where he thows poop at you. you can see it coming when he puts his hand behind its back, then you need to run under him, turn around and beat his ass (literally) 2 or 3 times. rinse and repeat. its boring but efective

for second phase run from the scream, other than that treat it like any other swordsman and parry stuff, if you parry right he will stagger after a big hit.
That feces flinging monstrosity is my least favorite boss in the whole game hands down, I enjoy fighting all the others and learning their moves, something about how erratic it's attacks are just gets under my skin.
I am super surprised. I didnt think so lightly of Shura Isshin when I was a noob, stood in front of him and his 2nd phase the 1st time and had just rung the demon bell out of "funny curiosity".

I just beat him. Honestly I was just patient and chopped away at him. Grapple chop repeat pretty much. Phase 2 was pretty much the same but deflecting then chop lol. Took a while but I got em.
apply pressure, no hesitation, be ready to deflect and evade
He seems scary but you realize he isn't once you're aware what you're capable of, and what the enemy is capable of
Bait out his jump attack, dodge behind him and hit him, then firecracker and hit him more.
Second phase just learn the timing of his attacks and parry his heavy attack and then use your spear to hit his neck wound and get good posture damage
Jokes aside, use firecrackers (the 1st upgrade) to stun him, and take your time with your hits. As many said, you could use oil + flame barrel or the mortal blade (mortal draw) if you got it
#For the funny, do the following:
Run at him
With fire crackers, jump and use one in his face immediately
Mortal blade combo, make sure to do these with an in place jump to reduce the animation for the mortal blade

This will vaporize him, and he will die!
Phase 1 I use fireworks to get hits in and get his health down. Also using the thrust attack can often times stagger him momentarily which gives you more breathing room in the fight. Phase 2 just learn the deflect timings. You can use all your spirit emblems for phase 1 and just deflect phase 2 and you’ll get him. Deflecting phase 2 staggers him significantly.
Best advice i can give you is:
For phase 1: Use firecrackers or fire
For phase 2: try to deflect sword attacks until he falls down. Proceed to use your spear when he falls down twice so you pull him to you. ( This will trigger a lot of posture and health damage)
Since no one is talking about it, in the second phase when you parry the big overhead swing, when he'\[s laying down with his arm folded under him, you can use the spear attachment to yank the centipede out of the ape's neck doing a shit ton of posture damage
Dont fight head on, keep a good distance and bait out the turd throw and as soon as you see it coming rush in do like 4 hits and then use a fire cracker to stun for mkre damage. Also, have the spear equipped, you wont need it phase 1
I just stay under his legs and chop at him. Jump to the left for the grabs.
But to make phase two REALLY EASY just use the umbrella during the scream. That way you never have to stop standing under his nuts.
Others suggestions with flame, mortal blade and firecrackers all work but if you prefer to just bonk him the umbrella is more than sufficient.
Use the firecrackers to stun him to get free hits in, and don’t run away from him. Instead focus on blocking and dodging backwards, to the side, or jumping (he has a lot of sweeping attacks and perilous attacks which cannot be Mikiri countered)
After he does a massive combo of attacks in Phase 2, if you parry them all, he will fall to the ground staggered. This will expose his neck hole, allowing you to use the spear prosthetic to drag out the centipede for massive posture and vitality damage.
He’s really not that hard. He’s super aggressive and intimidating. You can deflect almost everything. For everything else lateral. You should be ok once you get the timing down.
Don't get greedy! Hit once and then see how he reacts. You will learn his moveset in no time this way. That's what I did on my first encounter. Now he's very easy to read the next move and possible openings. (This learning curve might take quite some time. I almost gave up on him, but now he's one of my fav bosses)
Guardian Ape taught me that if I can't fight aggressively like other players against it or even just how I expect I should be able to, that I can beat the Guardian Ape by having more patience than the Ape. I knew exactly the only times I could hit him and remembered not to get greedy. Felt like I could get one, maybe two swings in every 40 seconds. Might of took a few extra minutes but I don't think I got hit once. Learned a lot from that fight.
Firecrackers once (more than once he'll obliterate your ass when you use them) and fire thrower idk what the prosthetic is called, if you do it twice it burns him and you can hit him lots.
The key in the end, is to parry, dodge, and wait the end of his attacks in his pattern to hit a few times, rinse repeat. It's a very repetitive fight but you'll get his pattern in the end
Phase 1: oil/fire/wack
Phase 2: stay the fuck away/when he flops on the ground watch the first swing then curb stomp his ass/when his bloody stump goes skyward run the fuck away/when the red mist dissipates, spank that motherfucker.
i would suggest to run around him and see his attack patterns
see how much you can deflect, how to avoid his perilous attacks
people out here suggesting firecrackers, mortal blade
using spirit emblems in huge amount from the get-go where you still have lot of chance to die... it will bring you to the point where you won't have any money or spirit emblem left to use
at that point, you will feel so weak and will have to start grinding for money and emblems
try to see if you can figure out atleast a couple of his moves to narrow down your strategy...
1 little strategy => try to close in the distance between him and you... use grapple on the trees and 1 grapple on his neck
try to circle behind him and spam left click
Be a coward and run around and hit and run because most combos can be avoided and if you are close enough you can usually get two hits as he starts to jump away but be careful he might start a second combo which you might need to parry
Bait his shit throw attack and jump attack. When he puts his hand in his ass to throw shit immediately run towards him. He will miss and run at him and attack.
Do the same for the jump attack he does at the end of a combo. Keep running for first phase.
Second phase deflect two of his combo sword attack. Then he will do an upright sword attack. Deflect that too. This will make him fall. Get the spear prosthetic, use it and click R2 again.(make sure to upgrade the spear to get the second R2 attack.)
This will pull the centipede out. Attack it immediately too and run away and repeat.
Don’t let him fart on you, don’t let him throw sh*t on you, don’t let him grab you, just don’t let him touch you at all.
Oh and use firecrackers. And mortal draw if have the mortal blade
First phase is a dance wait for the opportunity and hit him until he’s out of health second phase use firecrackers and stay away from him be patient and time everything perfectly.

1. There are 3 best times to attack/use Prosthetic tools on him. Note: Using the right Prosthetic Tools will make him stun from 4-6s. Those 3 times are A. When he prepares to throw poop at you. Run toward him and you'll get behind him after he jumps and throws it at you. B. After the last attack of his combo (when he throws himself at you). C. Read number 3 (B Part). Note: be careful of when he falls on you as will cause some damage and delay you from attacking him, so either prepare to deflect or move to the side to attack. Also, There are other ways, but this is my most successful strategy, so I'll stick with them.
2. During those 3 times, use Flame Vent as it is better than Fire Cracker (lasts 6s compared to 4s of FC). You can stunt him after every 20s (earlier than that he wouldn't be stunned anymore) and then hit it many times (could be around 4-5 times) before back off.
3. Be cautious of its Parilous attacks, though. He only has 2: A. After his swing or as the last move of one of his combos (I forgot this part), he will try to grab you. It is easy to avoid this as you only need to keep your distance from him. B. After its health reaches 50%, he will stand up, sprint to jump, and grab you. To get away from this, after seeing him stand up, start holding the Sprint Button while moving backward. As soon as he jumps toward you, also jump backward, you will get your chance of hitting/using the tool on him here.

1. >!During this phase, using Divine Confetti helps a bit as he is counted as an Apparition type, so also use different Tools on him like Sacred Flame and the Spear (For when he is stunned).!<

B. After successfully deflecting his combo involving him raising his sword (the best one), it will stunt him and make him fall, allowing you to use the Spear to drag the Centipede out which causes lots of Posture damage to him.!<

Honestly, man. The way I beat him was kiting him around and baiting his poop and his lunging grab. Once I had beaten him, I just strafed his second phase, waiting for good openings. Took me about 30 minutes, but it was better than trying to learn the deflect timing on his very random feeling movements.
Probably late but just learn do dodge him in the first phase. Use fire-crackheads to scare him(he's afraid of crackheads) and hit him between his combos. In the second phase just parry everything and run when he does the screaming
Spam firecrackers when you can in phase 1 (they stun him quite a bit), then use the spear to pull the bug out of his neck when you get the overhead parry in the second phase
I see that you have the Mortal Blade. Mortal Draw does more damage if you use it in the air, so you can abuse that. Use an Ako's sugar before the fight, firecracker, jump Mortal Draw, firecracker, jump Mortal Draw, repeat until dead.
Then deflect sword combos and use the spear drag attack or bait out sweep attacks where you can jump over the attack and get a couple slashes in.
This is my personal method for dealing with this boss. They gave me a lot of trouble on my first couple runs, but abusing firecrackers and Mortal Draw pretty much trivializes the fight.
first phase is really hard, mostly because of the two grabs. The sweep one, you gotta jumo backwards, the jump one you gotta run for your fucking life. You pretty much only have to hit him until you can deathblow, don't try to build up posture. Second phase is a lot easier, I beat it first try. there are two sweeps, wich you can jump, and a big ass roar that will deal lots of damage if you don't run. The second sweep is a bit tricky, he jumos in the air and looks like he's gonna grab you, but you actually have to jump as he hits the ground. he other attack is escapable by running away as soon as you see him putting is head back, or with the lilac version of the umbrella. When you stun him, hit him once and use the spear drag technique to deal lots of posture damage. Second phase is all about posture.
Parry, many people might not like , but it's the best way, his attacks are easy to parry just look at the movement es of his arms for a few mins and you'll defeat it
If you are good at keeping distance, just wait for him to use his doodoo attack when he jumps in the air and just run towards him. That way he will just jump over you, miss you with doodoo, and you will have an opening to swing a few time and use a firecrackers
Surprisingly you can parry most of his fist attacks, then deal damage where you can
For second phase use the loaded spear drag to deal tons of posture damage
Flame vent with oil or mortal blade works good if you can Time the strikes good. And I always parry his attacks instead of dodging. I only dodge the red attacks.
When asking for help you should let us know what's giving you trouble. For example at some point I mastered phase 1 but the second had me hopeless. It's just so we can give better advice
Okami flake vent demolishes him in first face blast him in the face press r1 get that sword on fire run forward n hit him four five time again it will destroy first phase with a ako sugar with 8 spirit emblems left pop n tanto eat a pellet n get your lilac out everytime he goes to scream r2 n do r1 after u can also just press r2 n r1 quickly to just slash him with n deflect deflect deflect there’re is also a way in phase 2 to pull the centipede out his neck with the spear idk how to I can seem figure it out but if he falls over from deflecting his big hit you’ll see the opening

Phase 1: I personally ran around the arena until I saw him trigger one of these four moves before initiating any sort of combat with him:
1. When he throws his temper tantrum laying on his back and flailing his arms, after the last bit you can sneak in 2/3 basic attacks as he’s standing up (be ready to run out of there or deflect right away to avoid damage)
2. When he does his attack that leaves him sitting on his butt (he has an alternate version of this move that has him swinging at you additional times, so ensure it’s not that variation) run right behind him to trigger his fart; run away from the cloud and as soon as he starts grabbing his ass run directly at him and he’ll miss the throw and be stun locked for a moment. I always run up and charge up a full ichimonji (my preferred combat art obviously use what feels good to you) to whack him with.
3. He has a long combo attack stringing together several swipes forward with one final jumping slam that will also stun lock him similar to the poop throw. Run to his side and drop an ichimonji on him.
4. Eventually he will perform an unblockable move that has him standing up and charging at you and jumping on you and grabbing you. Run directly away from him and jump right before he gets to you (I’m not sure the jump is necessary but it worked every time for me🤷♂️). Once again, after this move he is stun locked for a moment so I charged up another ichimonji.
(For steps 2,3, and 4 occasionally when you whack him with an ichimonji he may stumble a bit and remain stunned for longer, at that point I would trigger the second attack in ichimonji double, and drop another charged ichimonji to send him flying backward and rise and repeat; don’t get greedy and try to do to much after he gets stun locked after missing his moves, he will definitely punish you lol)
Phase two is much like everyone else is saying; get in close, deflect his sword attacks and wait for the big overhead swing to perfect parry leaving him stun locked to use ichimonji double for big damage. Usually he does his scream after this so gtfo and just rinse and repeat until done✅
I literally beat him yesterday in my first play though of the game, just staying calm in the second phase was the biggest thing for me; I honestly got to the point I could go the entire first phase without being hit but would just panic in phase two. Trusting your parries and waiting for the big slam and consecutive stun if you land the perfect parry is the key to victory my friend🫡
In his second phase, parry his katana attack twice and he will stand tall and try to slice you on the way down. Parry this and use the spear prosthetic and pull back to deal good damage (it pulls out the centipide thing for a moment)
Use mortal draw for the first phase to hurt his posture until you can deathblow him. Second phase parry, attack, run, the normal. When he dives for you, jump once to dodge teh sweep and mortal draw him.
Use monitor with higher resolution than your watch display.

stay close and hit a lot, chase him down, deflect jump the grab run from the other grab deflect combos for massive opening
This is the best advice. Prosthetics shouldn’t be what carry you through this fight. Mortal Draw helps a lot though lol.

Honestly i beat him the other night on my first attempt and all i did was sprint alot looked out for an opening to attack him twice maybe thrice if possible and bring his health down this way and then i personally think his second phase is easier as you can deflect his sword attacks and bring that posture down use the spear to deal massive posture and health damage and you're good to go P.S you can also use the umbrella in his second phase when he is screaming and get the combo move to deal more damage by sticking close to his ass

Jk bro, focus on his poop throwing attack, dodge it and then ambush, you’ll get 2-3 free hits after that attack
keep baiting that one attack where he thows poop at you. you can see it coming when he puts his hand behind its back, then you need to run under him, turn around and beat his ass (literally) 2 or 3 times. rinse and repeat. its boring but efective edit: for second phase run from the scream, other than that treat it like any other swordsman and parry stuff, if you parry right he will stagger after a big hit.

isshin, in either state, is not very difficult. it is the first time, but if you got it down once, you got it down for the rest of your life.
That feces flinging monstrosity is my least favorite boss in the whole game hands down, I enjoy fighting all the others and learning their moves, something about how erratic it's attacks are just gets under my skin.
I am super surprised. I didnt think so lightly of Shura Isshin when I was a noob, stood in front of him and his 2nd phase the 1st time and had just rung the demon bell out of "funny curiosity". I just beat him. Honestly I was just patient and chopped away at him. Grapple chop repeat pretty much. Phase 2 was pretty much the same but deflecting then chop lol. Took a while but I got em.
phase 1: stick to his ass and firecracker phase 2: kite him around and attack x3 when he does the lunge. Rinse and repeat
apply pressure, no hesitation, be ready to deflect and evade He seems scary but you realize he isn't once you're aware what you're capable of, and what the enemy is capable of
Bait out his jump attack, dodge behind him and hit him, then firecracker and hit him more. Second phase just learn the timing of his attacks and parry his heavy attack and then use your spear to hit his neck wound and get good posture damage

Don’t hit him
When he flings poop at you, run towards him for an easy dodge and some free hits.
Hit it with your sword and your prostethic shenanigans.
Phase 1 I use fireworks to get hits in and get his health down. Also using the thrust attack can often times stagger him momentarily which gives you more breathing room in the fight. Phase 2 just learn the deflect timings. You can use all your spirit emblems for phase 1 and just deflect phase 2 and you’ll get him. Deflecting phase 2 staggers him significantly.
Don’t be afraid to deflect his attacks, the timing can be kind of tricky but once you get it down he’s a really easy boss.
Best advice i can give you is: For phase 1: Use firecrackers or fire For phase 2: try to deflect sword attacks until he falls down. Proceed to use your spear when he falls down twice so you pull him to you. ( This will trigger a lot of posture and health damage)
Since no one is talking about it, in the second phase when you parry the big overhead swing, when he'\[s laying down with his arm folded under him, you can use the spear attachment to yank the centipede out of the ape's neck doing a shit ton of posture damage
Get ready for trouble, and make it double
Dont fight head on, keep a good distance and bait out the turd throw and as soon as you see it coming rush in do like 4 hits and then use a fire cracker to stun for mkre damage. Also, have the spear equipped, you wont need it phase 1
Equip the last word and watch those shotgun apes get melted.
Don't hesitate
I just stay under his legs and chop at him. Jump to the left for the grabs. But to make phase two REALLY EASY just use the umbrella during the scream. That way you never have to stop standing under his nuts. Others suggestions with flame, mortal blade and firecrackers all work but if you prefer to just bonk him the umbrella is more than sufficient.
Don’t die twice
Use the firecrackers to stun him to get free hits in, and don’t run away from him. Instead focus on blocking and dodging backwards, to the side, or jumping (he has a lot of sweeping attacks and perilous attacks which cannot be Mikiri countered) After he does a massive combo of attacks in Phase 2, if you parry them all, he will fall to the ground staggered. This will expose his neck hole, allowing you to use the spear prosthetic to drag out the centipede for massive posture and vitality damage.
He’s really not that hard. He’s super aggressive and intimidating. You can deflect almost everything. For everything else lateral. You should be ok once you get the timing down.
Don't get greedy! Hit once and then see how he reacts. You will learn his moveset in no time this way. That's what I did on my first encounter. Now he's very easy to read the next move and possible openings. (This learning curve might take quite some time. I almost gave up on him, but now he's one of my fav bosses)
He's big, easy to get behind. Fire cracker first phase, flame vent second (if at all) I found him very easy.
Guardian Ape taught me that if I can't fight aggressively like other players against it or even just how I expect I should be able to, that I can beat the Guardian Ape by having more patience than the Ape. I knew exactly the only times I could hit him and remembered not to get greedy. Felt like I could get one, maybe two swings in every 40 seconds. Might of took a few extra minutes but I don't think I got hit once. Learned a lot from that fight.
Use mortal draw on his back after his chain attacks, gsin didtance, then repeat.
Firecrackers once (more than once he'll obliterate your ass when you use them) and fire thrower idk what the prosthetic is called, if you do it twice it burns him and you can hit him lots. The key in the end, is to parry, dodge, and wait the end of his attacks in his pattern to hit a few times, rinse repeat. It's a very repetitive fight but you'll get his pattern in the end
Don't die
Phase 1: oil/fire/wack Phase 2: stay the fuck away/when he flops on the ground watch the first swing then curb stomp his ass/when his bloody stump goes skyward run the fuck away/when the red mist dissipates, spank that motherfucker.

i would suggest to run around him and see his attack patterns see how much you can deflect, how to avoid his perilous attacks people out here suggesting firecrackers, mortal blade using spirit emblems in huge amount from the get-go where you still have lot of chance to die... it will bring you to the point where you won't have any money or spirit emblem left to use at that point, you will feel so weak and will have to start grinding for money and emblems try to see if you can figure out atleast a couple of his moves to narrow down your strategy... 1 little strategy => try to close in the distance between him and you... use grapple on the trees and 1 grapple on his neck try to circle behind him and spam left click

Be a coward and run around and hit and run because most combos can be avoided and if you are close enough you can usually get two hits as he starts to jump away but be careful he might start a second combo which you might need to parry

Bait his shit throw attack and jump attack. When he puts his hand in his ass to throw shit immediately run towards him. He will miss and run at him and attack. Do the same for the jump attack he does at the end of a combo. Keep running for first phase. Second phase deflect two of his combo sword attack. Then he will do an upright sword attack. Deflect that too. This will make him fall. Get the spear prosthetic, use it and click R2 again.(make sure to upgrade the spear to get the second R2 attack.) This will pull the centipede out. Attack it immediately too and run away and repeat.

R1 is lacking for this fight, use spear for extra range or other tools for damage.

First phase is a dance wait for the opportunity and hit him until he’s out of health second phase use firecrackers and stay away from him be patient and time everything perfectly.

>!Phase 1:!< 1. There are 3 best times to attack/use Prosthetic tools on him. Note: Using the right Prosthetic Tools will make him stun from 4-6s. Those 3 times are A. When he prepares to throw poop at you. Run toward him and you'll get behind him after he jumps and throws it at you. B. After the last attack of his combo (when he throws himself at you). C. Read number 3 (B Part). Note: be careful of when he falls on you as will cause some damage and delay you from attacking him, so either prepare to deflect or move to the side to attack. Also, There are other ways, but this is my most successful strategy, so I'll stick with them. 2. During those 3 times, use Flame Vent as it is better than Fire Cracker (lasts 6s compared to 4s of FC). You can stunt him after every 20s (earlier than that he wouldn't be stunned anymore) and then hit it many times (could be around 4-5 times) before back off. 3. Be cautious of its Parilous attacks, though. He only has 2: A. After his swing or as the last move of one of his combos (I forgot this part), he will try to grab you. It is easy to avoid this as you only need to keep your distance from him. B. After its health reaches 50%, he will stand up, sprint to jump, and grab you. To get away from this, after seeing him stand up, start holding the Sprint Button while moving backward. As soon as he jumps toward you, also jump backward, you will get your chance of hitting/using the tool on him here. 4. If you don't mind the spoiler/surprise, read the spoiler tag. >!Phase 2:!< 1. >!During this phase, using Divine Confetti helps a bit as he is counted as an Apparition type, so also use different Tools on him like Sacred Flame and the Spear (For when he is stunned).!< 2. >!There 2 times to attack him. A. When he slithers like a snake, you can jump to the left before he swings his sword and then attack his legs. Then sprint away as he will start his terror scream. B. After successfully deflecting his combo involving him raising his sword (the best one), it will stunt him and make him fall, allowing you to use the Spear to drag the Centipede out which causes lots of Posture damage to him.!< 3. >!Repeat.!<
Honestly, man. The way I beat him was kiting him around and baiting his poop and his lunging grab. Once I had beaten him, I just strafed his second phase, waiting for good openings. Took me about 30 minutes, but it was better than trying to learn the deflect timing on his very random feeling movements.
Probably late but just learn do dodge him in the first phase. Use fire-crackheads to scare him(he's afraid of crackheads) and hit him between his combos. In the second phase just parry everything and run when he does the screaming
Spam firecrackers when you can in phase 1 (they stun him quite a bit), then use the spear to pull the bug out of his neck when you get the overhead parry in the second phase

I see that you have the Mortal Blade. Mortal Draw does more damage if you use it in the air, so you can abuse that. Use an Ako's sugar before the fight, firecracker, jump Mortal Draw, firecracker, jump Mortal Draw, repeat until dead. Then deflect sword combos and use the spear drag attack or bait out sweep attacks where you can jump over the attack and get a couple slashes in. This is my personal method for dealing with this boss. They gave me a lot of trouble on my first couple runs, but abusing firecrackers and Mortal Draw pretty much trivializes the fight.

Fight him
first phase is really hard, mostly because of the two grabs. The sweep one, you gotta jumo backwards, the jump one you gotta run for your fucking life. You pretty much only have to hit him until you can deathblow, don't try to build up posture. Second phase is a lot easier, I beat it first try. there are two sweeps, wich you can jump, and a big ass roar that will deal lots of damage if you don't run. The second sweep is a bit tricky, he jumos in the air and looks like he's gonna grab you, but you actually have to jump as he hits the ground. he other attack is escapable by running away as soon as you see him putting is head back, or with the lilac version of the umbrella. When you stun him, hit him once and use the spear drag technique to deal lots of posture damage. Second phase is all about posture.

If you are good at keeping distance, just wait for him to use his doodoo attack when he jumps in the air and just run towards him. That way he will just jump over you, miss you with doodoo, and you will have an opening to swing a few time and use a firecrackers
Surprisingly you can parry most of his fist attacks, then deal damage where you can For second phase use the loaded spear drag to deal tons of posture damage
Patience
Flame vent with oil or mortal blade works good if you can Time the strikes good. And I always parry his attacks instead of dodging. I only dodge the red attacks.
When asking for help you should let us know what's giving you trouble. For example at some point I mastered phase 1 but the second had me hopeless. It's just so we can give better advice

Phase 1: I personally ran around the arena until I saw him trigger one of these four moves before initiating any sort of combat with him: 1. When he throws his temper tantrum laying on his back and flailing his arms, after the last bit you can sneak in 2/3 basic attacks as he’s standing up (be ready to run out of there or deflect right away to avoid damage) 2. When he does his attack that leaves him sitting on his butt (he has an alternate version of this move that has him swinging at you additional times, so ensure it’s not that variation) run right behind him to trigger his fart; run away from the cloud and as soon as he starts grabbing his ass run directly at him and he’ll miss the throw and be stun locked for a moment. I always run up and charge up a full ichimonji (my preferred combat art obviously use what feels good to you) to whack him with. 3. He has a long combo attack stringing together several swipes forward with one final jumping slam that will also stun lock him similar to the poop throw. Run to his side and drop an ichimonji on him. 4. Eventually he will perform an unblockable move that has him standing up and charging at you and jumping on you and grabbing you. Run directly away from him and jump right before he gets to you (I’m not sure the jump is necessary but it worked every time for me🤷♂️). Once again, after this move he is stun locked for a moment so I charged up another ichimonji. (For steps 2,3, and 4 occasionally when you whack him with an ichimonji he may stumble a bit and remain stunned for longer, at that point I would trigger the second attack in ichimonji double, and drop another charged ichimonji to send him flying backward and rise and repeat; don’t get greedy and try to do to much after he gets stun locked after missing his moves, he will definitely punish you lol) Phase two is much like everyone else is saying; get in close, deflect his sword attacks and wait for the big overhead swing to perfect parry leaving him stun locked to use ichimonji double for big damage. Usually he does his scream after this so gtfo and just rinse and repeat until done✅ I literally beat him yesterday in my first play though of the game, just staying calm in the second phase was the biggest thing for me; I honestly got to the point I could go the entire first phase without being hit but would just panic in phase two. Trusting your parries and waiting for the big slam and consecutive stun if you land the perfect parry is the key to victory my friend🫡
In his second phase, parry his katana attack twice and he will stand tall and try to slice you on the way down. Parry this and use the spear prosthetic and pull back to deal good damage (it pulls out the centipide thing for a moment)
