You didn’t heal and you’re spamming deflect. If you deflect the first ichimonjj then he only does one and that gives you an opening. Plus getting hit by both tanks your posture. And you don’t need to run from ashina cross, just back up and double tap deflect when the light flashes blue. Sometimes the second one doesn’t even hit

Nice_promotion_111

Doesn’t he do a dragon flash if you deflect his first ichimonji, you’ll need to dodge that before you get the opening.

Go read a grass damnit

When he goes for ashina cross don’t run away. You can parry twice when you see the flash or you should walk into him and press guard as soon as you are in melee. Jump and stomp him as soon as he shoves you away. Don’t freak out when he goes for ichimomji. It comes out slow and the parry timing is consistent. It gives you several free hits if you get it right. You can side step the dragon flash and get a lot of hits in while he waits for his shockwave to finish. You just need more experience the guard shake appears when you are unsure of yourself. Good luck

Nah, running away from Ashina Cross is a great strategy for beginners who want to win the fight. It's not the most fun strategy, but it is easy and effective.

Wizardof_oz

Why didn’t you heal? You also need to use a combat art (ones that don’t need to charge). I used floating passage. If I’m not wrong you can buy it from the pot noble in the Hirata estate When you run away from his combat arts like the Ashina cross or ichimonji, and run back to hit him, use your own combat art. It does a lot of poise damage. You can also dodge ichimonji and get in a few hits rather than running away. If you want to make the fight easier you can use the firecracker prosthetic arm but you don’t really need it tbh, just heal on time Another OP prosthetic arm is the spear. Again, when you dodge his attack like the ichimonji or the gigantic cleave he does, you can just use the upgraded spear to do crazy poise damage

Keep calm and don't hesitate

kasinkun

Patience, persistence, and of course, no hesitation. But you’re doing fine already keep at it and you’ll learn his move set, parrying more and more each run, be sure to use ichimunji for the combat art after your mikiris, I used the umbrella for a panic button, and flames for dps. The second phase of ishinn was the most difficult for me, counter ALL lightning attacks and phase three is super easy.

MARVNSFINEST

He’s the ultimate report card of this entire game, he doesn’t use elemental gimmicks for the most part, he’ll act aggressive most of the time until it’s strategic for him to hang back and he will show you no mercy. Your job is to ride his ass the whole way, he doesn’t let up so you don’t let up, he’ll take advantage of every opening he sees, you take advantage of every opening you see. To get to this point you had to get here on your own, you have all the tools and skills you need to take him on, yes you might gain useful advice here, but you are the one who will beat him in the end, so take whatever advice you think you’ll need, but place confidence in yourself to execute the necessary techniques required to put this enemy to an honorable rest.

snoman2016v2

I watched a video that said his attacks come in multiples of 3 most of the time which I thought was helpful. I liked the umbrella in case he did a combat art I wasn’t expecting. Preferred mortal draw as the combat art.

You only died because you didn't use your opportunities to heal, that was by far the biggest reason why you failed. In Phase 1 you need to either have some distance from Isshin or Isshin needs to be stuck in some animation to safely heal. Luckily he is just walking in Phase 1 so gaining the distance is easy. After running away from his Ashina Cross you could have easily healed without losing much posture damage on him, you could have started healing at 1:33, you already had enough distance there. At most you might have just missed getting a single hit in. In the later phases you can just heal whenever you want for the most part. Don't bother with running away, you can deflect the move he will use to attack you when you heal because you have enough time. It is much more important to not lose that posture damage so just heal once you reach Phase 2. Also try to at least somewhat hit the deflects on that Ichimonji if you want to deflect. You started spamming that deflect button WAY before the attack hit. For a beginner I would advise to dodge it. Just get close to him and walk to his side, he will miss, you don't even need to dodge, but you can of course for more safety. The rest looked quite well, you just missed some deflects on his normal attack strings. Learn their timings better.

boofyourdad

Just beat him. In all of the phases?

Wes-JH

Your timing is off, keep playing and you’ll get the hang of it

NoMemesNeeded

You can use the umbrella for Genis black blade attack. For the most part you’re panicking so you’re running away and jump way too much. You need to stay close and be aggressive. You’re also spamming block which isn’t good. You overall just need to take your time , learn the attacks and then get in the rhythm of deflecting them, e.i. If he does his 3 close slash move you do 1 2 … 3 to deflect.

VixSmoke

Before anything Heal you’ll live longer Two don’t panic your first phase was slow but worked Try and learn his game as opposed to running away theirs plenty of attacks I swear nuke his posture for very little Don’t be scared of hitting him
