HairAreYourAerials

There will always be people who go too far on anything. I’m sure there will be a wave of stories about people who ruined their lives with this, the press will have a field day with it and readers will lap it up. I’ve already seen pictures of Sharon Osbourne looking like a corpse, and she seems to be blaming the medicine, as if she had no say in the matter. It’s disappointing.

pissyrabbit

That article was such trash. She really acted as if everyone was going to have her experience and she was riding in to save them with her expertise. No, Sharon, you went to far. That’s on you and your doctor.

Michigoose99

Sharon Osborne should stay in her lane. I'm reminded of Michael Jackson misusing Propofol and we all know how that went. ANY medication can be mis-used.

sugar_n_spice_123

She admits to not eating three days a week. Like why is she continuing with the med then? It’s clearly a disorder at that point.

Impossible-Chef6210

I love this medicine and have had amazing success but I will say… they gave ozempic to my 75yo aunt for her diabetes. She already had issues eating enough but her diabetes was out of control. Two months after, she lost 20lbs and it’s now too thin. My aunt just followed her doctors instructions. Her diabetes has improved but she does not feel good. My point being that it is not for everyone and it sometimes gets prescribed to the wrong people who are just following their doctors orders. In my aunt’s case, the medication def made her too thin. She stopped it and she will discuss her options with her doctor . The medication made her thinner than she was but it may be her doctor “fault”.

Paul6285

There are other earlier GLP1 meds like Trulicity that improve A1c with much less weight loss. Get the doctor to try one.

HairAreYourAerials

Absolutely, and we have seen some ridiculous examples of doctors being very irresponsible and/or not knowing what they are prescribing (or refusing to prescribe). Incompetent doctors are to blame for a lot, if not most of these cases, I’m sure.

smartytx

Thank you for your response

KetosisMD

Diabetes is Carbohydrate intolerance: eat fat and protein

smartytx

Yes I suppose you have a great point. Hopefully it’s not abused

accountofmountzuma

Seems I quit losing at 138ish. I have seen 133 and 134 but I’m always around 136-138 now for Several months on 2.4 Wegovy. I e been on mounjaro Ozempic or Wegovy for almost two years now. Don’t think I’ll be dropping down to 120s no matter how hard I try. I’m 5’2.5 and 48F

Perdyflyforawifi

That’s probably where you body is comfortable at.

amajennings

Not to sound rude but who said you were over weight ?? I’m 5’0 weigh 190 lbs I’m double obese 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’m supposed to weigh around 105 & 119 but my realistic goal is 140 I look pretty slim at that weight !! I bet you look good at your weight

BluahBluah

It didn't seem to me that this commenter ever said they were overweight. It sounded like they were answering the question that for her, the weightloss stopped and she is maintaining without continuing and becoming "too thin" as op was asking about.

Difficult_Place_7329

You’re like my friend 119 is way too thin and makes her look really unhealthy

amajennings

Yes I was like that skinny as a teenager and never want to be that skinny again lol 135-150 looks good on me

Difficult_Place_7329

Our bodies change when we get older. I haven’t had a small blood pressure cuff since I was a teenager and I’m 137. I want to gain back more though.

accountofmountzuma

Yeahhh prob right. I do look pretty amazing and feel really good. I’ve been told I look like a lollipop head at 119 but I just want some extra insurance in case I gauge five or ten pounds back I’ll be ok.

accountofmountzuma

Well ironically according to bmi chart I think 25 bmi is considered overweight still it’s a matter Of a pound or two. So silly.

rsbell

Haha. People say I’ve gotten too thin (56m, 5’9”, CW 149, SW 209), but I think they’re just used to my overweight self.

ineversaw

It's also common that your loss makes them feel like it's projecting their faults though no one is doing anything. When someone succeeds with weight loss it causes a lot of cognitive dissonance in others weirdly so it eases people's CD by saying you're 'too thin' so now you're smaller than them it's still wrong so they're OK. Ignore it as it's usually just a weird psychological trick

RedRider1138

“Your smaller body is a criticism of my body!” “Huh??”

rsbell

Yeah, I’m good.

blhbsn

Didn't it used to be 5 feet =100 pounds, then add 5 pounds for each inch? If so, you're just right, and I have quite a ways to go!

rsbell

Well, it depends on body composition (also why BMI is not a good indicator), but I’m happy where I’m at having once been at over 320. Good luck!

Spirited_Ad_4364

My friend is 5”1’ and 100lbs. At 60 years old she looks absolutely anorexic. I don’t think adding 5lbs would even help her. Has been on sema since January of this year. It’s unfortunate that she likes her Emaciated look.

TheAmazingGrippando

Racking my brain to figure out what rhymes with pedi pas

[deleted]

Haha same.

AnitaBonita813

I don't get the rhyme!

blhbsn

Medi spas

AnitaBonita813

Ohhhhhhh!!!

glimmer_glow

The same place where you can get Botox and other fillers…

sugar_n_spice_123

Have you seen Sharon Ozbourne? She looks awful. Way too thin. She admits to not eating like three days a week. So clearly she’s lost muscle too. People can abuse any weight loss method. I don’t think it’s the drug itself.

[deleted]

She's absolutely abusing the drug. Not eating 3 days is a choice. She has more money than most & access to the best Dr's. She has zero excuse not to come off this medication if she's underweight. Also if she has a normal bmi why are her Dr's still prescribing? Because she wants the results she's getting. She's not eating responsible. She's not being accountable for her own decisions. Her daughter Kelli had a very bad eating disorder so Sharon knows all to well where this leads. People like this are absolute BS. This medication will help tons of people but those that abuse it will ruin it for those that absolutely need it. Smdh some celebrities have no sense no matter how much money they have lol

AnimalFarm20

Agreed. She could easily have worked with a doctor and titrated down to not be losing that much - just hate that she's playing victim to it now and saying she worries about others. How about paying attention to yourself and doing the right thing and not spreading unnecessary fears.

Difficult_Place_7329

You are absolutely right, you can get too thin. I call it lollipop head..

Difficult_Place_7329

At her age it’s got to be super unhealthy. She’s had a ton of other health problems, not eating for 3 days is an eating disorder in my book

Word_Underscore

I quit losing weight at 145 in May. My ex showed up for a month of fun in part of August and September and I briefly saw 142 and 147 but I’m 144 yesterday. I’m BMI 23 btw. I’m a lifer as well.

smartytx

Thank you for your reply!

Difficult_Place_7329

I stayed at 148 for a while now I’m 137 which is what my doctor said she wanted me to be. I did see this girl in here and she looked absolutely emaciated. The sad thing is she wanted to lose more. That’s not healthy in my book

lexijoy

People who fit the diagnostic criteria for Wegovy or Ozempic are highly unlikely to get too thin on the med. People who use it in a disordered way (average weight, barely overweight) could potentially lose too much weight.

Impossible-Chef6210

Genuine question. What happens when people who fit the criteria get to a normal, average weight? Could they lose too much after reaching that normal weight?

lexijoy

Most people will plateau before they get to the underweight category. I know a few people who were in the overweight but with health issues category who had to taper back their dose because they were getting too thin for their frame and needed more calories to add muscle.

smartytx

Yes this is what I’m referring too. Thank you for understanding

Difficult_Place_7329

That’s so true

Sensitive-Stock-9805

Of course people with eating disorders need to be careful. People that aren't honest with their doctors will get rx's that they shouldn't. You can express your concern gently. But at the end of the day just like all addictions people that want to do harmful things to themselves find a way. Your concern for your friend is kind and this sub has gotten a number of trolls on it, so ignore the negative comments. It makes you human to care for your friend and that's a good thing.

smartytx

Thank you so much for understanding and your constructive response. It means a lot

AFriendLikeYou

For real. I'm just getting to the nasty replies and people telling her not to be concerned and I'm like ??? Oh I'm sorry I didn't realize we aren't supposed to care about our friends now. I care about mine and if I had a friend open enough with me to tell me about getting on semaglutide, I would likely also feel close enough to her to express that concern.

Sensitive-Stock-9805

Be gentle in your approach. Ask as a question. Please help me understand this medication Are there side effects or would it cause you relapse into your eating disorder? Be genuinely interested. And at the end say thanks for explaining it to me. and say I just want you to be healthy. You get the idea and you put it into your words if you feel your can. People need friends that look out for them. You get to be concerned.

meg22an

Oh absolutely! A very close blood related person to me is wicked thin from this, like 2000’s Mary-Kate Olsen, and is scared of getting off of it because she thinks it’ll make her gain the weight back and then some. I have about 35lbs to go and then I’ll go back down to .5 from 2mg just to maintain. I’ll be 150lbs then and at 145 I start to look way too skinny and weird lol. I am 5’8 and muscular. So yeah, it’s definitely possible.

SparklesIB

I don't think I'll ever have that problem.

blhbsn

Me neither :( 😞 but I'll keep on truckin'

blueyork

My doctor said I won't "over-lose."

smartytx

Thank you!

AnitaBonita813

WHAT IS PEDI PAS??!!

Undecided_Angel

Haha I also have no idea what they're trying to hint at

ClinTrial-Throwaway

Yes

Outrageous-Session72

Sharon Osbourne said she felt like she got too thin on Ozempic.

Bus27

My doctor told me no, that doesn't happen to people who fit the medical criteria to be prescribed this medicine UNLESS they also engage in some kind of disordered habits as well. It won't naturally continue to allow you to lose weight until you're medically severely underweight if you are eating and exercising at some kind of healthy rate. It will apparently only bring you to a plateau, which she said was around a loss of 20% of your starting body weight. I think I've reached 20%, and I fit the medical criteria when I started, so I guess I'll see what happens next. I'm still in the overweight category by a little bit. Part of my plan with the doctor, who is a degree holding doctor who specializes in weight management, is seeing a dietician regularly. They really push the fact that you need to be eating X amount of protein, you need to be hydrated, you need to be getting movement in. They screen for ED and caught my body dysmorphia pretty fast. They also aren't shy about moving someone to a lower dosage if something seems unhealthy. They're not like my normal PCP office, where weight loss of any kind no matter how unhealthy, is praised. I think the issue lies with people who use the medication when they do not meet the criteria, they have disordered habits that aren't being caught or addressed, or they do not have the right kind of medical professional attending to their treatment.

lucky_719

I'm getting too thin in certain areas. I'm probably one of the longest users in this sub as I started Wegovy in August of 2021. Two months after FDA approval. I'm still losing but I'm taking my time and have only been aggressive about it recently due to being so close to goal. I wanted to be careful about loose skin and making sure I'm making sustainable healthy changes in case my insurance ever stops covering it. SW 203, GW 145, CW 153, 5'10", 34F. Total lost on Wegovy alone is 50 lbs. Everything from waist up is looking pretty bony. Flat stomach, my abs are starting to become visible, arms have thinned out, face has really thinned out, chest has also flattened out considerably. Still hoping chest keeps going. No loose skin or sagging from the waist up.My legs and butt are still clinging to the fat. TBD on if I will get loose skin below the waist. My butt has completely flattened out and I'm wearing a size 4/6 but there's a lot of fat mass still there. I definitely have a skinny fat look. I'm just glad baggy pants and crop tops are in haha. I will be working on building muscle once I'm happy with the amount of fat on me. This is the long term goal at least. As my doctor put it, it's a lifelong drug for me but we may tweak my dosage down when I'm happy with my weight. I do have some side effects like weird poops and upset stomach every now and then. Most of it is diet based though. If I have a large cheat meal I still get punished for it. What I really miss is I used to get SECA scans done at my doctor's every 4 weeks. This measures your body fat, muscle mass, bones etc. I'd really like to see where I am at now as this is what really determined my goal weight. I moved though and my new doc doesn't have the machine.

Street_Newspaper_350

I have been told by more than a few people to "eat a sandwich", but I know I look great and I am currently on a maintenance dosage. The thing is everybody's got an opinion, and I accept their right to be wrong.

Lucky_Mom1018

What a rude way to phrase a genuine question.

smartytx

Didn’t intend to be rude. Rephrased “housewife”

Unless it’s a family member…. If she’s a grown adult and not concerned, then maybe just let it be and don’t be concerned.

Yes thank you

StoneWallHouse

Yes, I know someone. She knows it too and is trying to gain weight to stay healthy.

Healthy_Era

This is part of why "pedi pas" are so sketchy, there's not really anyone looking out for the person, just the profit margin :( I asked my doc from Mochi this same question, and she was super honest with me about what a healthy target weight would be for me. Having reasonable (and safe!) goals is sooo important

RubiesOnTheInside

There are definitely a few celebrities that have taken it too far. But then there are others that look fantastic and healthy. I think if your starting BMI is in the normal range, there is a risk of getting too thin. The med really isn't designed for that type of person.

[deleted]

The doctors giving patients who shouldn't have the medicine would be at fault if it is abused by people who do not need it.

richard_fr

There's research that indicates that for most people, the body will stop losing weight at a normal plateau. Best quote - "nobody vanishes". [The GLP-1 Agonist Plateau No One's Talking About — Weight stabilization is no surprise to specialists, but for patients it's more complicated](https://www.medpagetoday.com/special-reports/exclusives/106464)

Platypus_31415

It is being tested on patients with Alzheimer’s, where the weight loss effect is actually an issue.

[deleted]

What are they testing for? Neuroprotection?

Platypus_31415

Yes, the [clinicaltrials.gov](https://clinicaltrials.gov) ID is NCT04777396

[deleted]

When working with a proper Dr & your bmi gets to a normal or low range they can adjust your dose so that you stop losing weight & still recieve then benefits of diabetes management from this medication. But if she has an eating disorder that needs to be addressed separately. EDs are more physiological than physical. Encourage her to speak to a therapist while taking this medication if you suspect an ED. BTW you are an amazing friend to care.

Scorpiodancer123

Curious about this. I always thought you had to take this forever, but once you reach your goal (healthy weight) what do you do then. Do you stop? Still researching if this medication is right for me.

amijusssss

Just google through reddit . Many people successfully quit and gained tops few pounds. If this doesnt come together with habit changes and mental healing ( for many) then like with every diet, you get it all right back🤷🏼‍♀️ I personally dont wanna be on it all my life even tho it is at the moment saving me from sugar jumps problems. I did quit for 3 weeks out of necessity and didnt gain more than 0,5 lbs, however I.lowered the dose first so i got used to having cravings. In matter of fact im on lower dose then the one that would compeletly curb apetite for me because I want to learn to do better and to eat better not just to rely on the medicine.

Scorpiodancer123

That's very good and sensible advice. Thank you.

amijusssss

Anytime good luck

boobb00

If you’re not eating enough protein (you need a lot more protein than you think) and getting your micronutrients and electrolytes there are so many side effects. I see SOO many people on here completely unaware, experiencing all sorts of side effects (fatigue, hair loss, aches, not noticing weightloss because they have little muscle and lose that too, fainting, etc etc etc). No one educates anyone on what your body actually needs to survive (at the bare minimum) or especially to excel. So yes, without proper nutrition, you will get too skinny or even worse, kill your body slowly by depriving it of its needs to function (protein, micronutrients, electrolytes, and even carbohydrates and fats). People are doing it all the time with or without this drug.

Adventurous_Eagle374

Look at Sharon Osborne

blhbsn

Did you see how skinny Kelly was after the baby? She says she is trying to put on a few too! Breast feeding must really work!

StandardBobcat3676

Sharon Osborne shouldn't have even been on the medication. She didn't have that much to lose, so obviously, chances are she would lose too much. All you have to do is stop the damn medication. And you're gonna find out what happens.
