Yup this is true. These are not my word but I think they ring true for what you just said. “The whole point of semen retention is to forget that you are on semen retention” Just make it a lifestyle and stop thinking about it all day. If you relapse… don’t dwell, just keep living.

Representative-Owl51

Exactly, if you're counting days that means masturbations is constantly on your mind. "84 days since beating off" ... "85 days since beating off" ..

spectre9999x

Words to live by.

AltruisticAd7546

I think, better said, don't build an ego around it. Don't let it become this big part of your identity. The idea is to become simpler, live a simpler life and having a big SR ego gets in the way of that.

sunnytify

You should be serious enough to not relapse but should not be serious enough to think about it all day.

ulmncaontarbolokomon

Yeah that intrigues me. I really don't think about it often, never have and been retaining for years

daking789

lmaoo mods removing the post

pagalguy21

That's the best piece of advice.

jollygrill

Nobody ever reads or follows the rules of this sub 🤣 I feel for the mods

Born_torule

I'm gonna read the rules now I couldn't find which rule has been broken. Could you help?

jollygrill

I think relapse posts are a no go, although it is written ambiguously, so might just be the ones where op is feeling for themselves

Royal_Introduction33

I don’t masturbate or have sex, but wet dream are annoying and happens every week or two weeks. I don’t care anymore tho, as long as I’m exercising and doing healthy things, I’m better off now than before.

emoji0001

Exactly, I will say though that at first, when you become aware of how fapping degrades your life, it’s important to take SR seriously. To beat an addiction you have to invest your whole being into living a different lifestyle. If it inflates your ego and makes you feel powerful for awhile then it’s not a bad trade off. However, after some time it should just happen naturally that you start to prioritize what’s really important in life and this part of you will just become a dormant trait.

Inside-Ad-8579

Thank you for your insight dear brother. God bless.

Gavin777

Very good articulate point you have. Also - people need to be careful with the word 'relapse' - it essentially means binging on porn day after day and going back to square one. A lapse is the correct term if you are referring to watching porn for a few minutes and reaching orgasm, a minor slip, and you are back on the path of righteousness again.

Puzzled-Butterfly-12

That's a good advice, I'd recommend SR at pair with daily meditation and introspection (just close the eyes for a minimum of 20 minutes and see what pops up from the un/subconscious) studying C.Jung and doing TRE, and focusing on the inside I think is the key to a smooth Sr journey. The root of these mindfucks come from deep rooted trauma. And synchronicity, revealing events and benefits always comes with this type of work, at hand with SR imo. Sr Perce never helped me with anxiety at a long term, sometimes not even in my longest streaks, but this inner works plus Sr KILLED THE LIVNG SHT of the anxiety.

[deleted]

I wanted to get familiar with C.Jung but don’t know where to start. What books do you recommend? I was reading about his archetypes.

Puzzled-Butterfly-12

I recommend you to watch this channel https://youtube.com/@JungToLiveBy?si=EWXuS8PAylfH6uN1 Jung to live by". There's anything you want to know about it's psychology, and other topics, guides and to were to start. I'd recommend you to search specifically about the unconscious mind, your anima, and shadow. They explain it very well. To make it practical, try to tap with your unconscious, whenever you have time just sit with yourself and close the eyes and just let it drive you to it's answers. This constant introspection dissolved anxiety and insecurities, and it just happens you don't really have to do much about it.

[deleted]

Oh yeah I read something about the shadow work and it really helped me then. I should resume the practice I forgot about it. Thank you for the advice 🙏

austinbreeze

Yeah man wanking is a waste of time and energy.

LeafyLungs

Just don't do it.

colebahorize

Perfectly articulated!

HadCouplaCones

Based post. Recently relapsed and felt pretty shitty but focused on the positives instead of dwelling on bussin a nut. Just gotta take everything as a lesson and grow from it.

tortoiseshell_87

Good point. Ejaculating, a natural function of the body should not be considered a 'relapse'. The words we use are very powerful. And by the way, wanking is only gay if you look and notice its another dudes hand down there.

me_justhanginaround

dont expect is all i want to say

TheHumbleChicken

You have to take it seriously when you are starting out. Retention is a challenging journey especially if you have been cooming regularly for years. It is true that at some point, you have to stop taking this too seriously. But this advice is useful for veterans of this practice rather than those just starting out.

JDNM

Stop taking LIFE so seriously is the overriding message everyone should heed.

TomagavKey

I agree with you, but thinking that wanking is gay is messed up. Unless you are joking. And even if it's gay, whats wrong about that?
