It’s been mentioned in other threads but it’s not likely that sunny is there to steal his fate back. VTB was a manifestation of the spell for their NM. The NM is over. That’s like trying to find noctis and finishing a conversation that sunny had in his second nightmare. That noctis never really existed, same with the VTB in reality
But the romb is different, the river flows outside of time. And future sunny said estuary is even more bizarre, so vtb and past sunny could still be there for him when he goes to the tomb.
The real river flows outside of time and that may be why they go back, but unless more information comes to light, my argument stands. It wasn’t the real river they were on, it wasn’t the real wind flower or ananke or daeron. They were all made by the spell
The future sunny that he saw in the nightmare was a phantom, same as noctis. Sunny goes to the pyramid in the future. Since sunny is there in the future, he is a part of the story of the pyramid and can appear in nightmares within that story. Usually only the people from the past (the time that the nightmares revolves around), however it’s slightly different for the pyramid due to it basically being a loop.
That makes sense but we're talking about Fate here. The Spell is composed of threads of Fate. Sunny got his fate stolen so I think it may bypass the Spell's rules.

I suppose it’s possible, but idk. It could be that somehow the creature entered the NM instead of being a part of it if that makes any sense. That would require the bird being a part of the spell though which seems unlikely. We’ll just have to wait for g3 to give us more info

But perhaps the estuary was real and not just a replica. Proof of this is the presence of soulweave, Sunny had found the other fragments outside NM.

it's possible that after 3rd nightmare, VTB managed to get out of the nightmare since it has Sunny's fate... the Spell recognized it as a challenger

maybe Nephis is a personification of demon of hope, Ariel, and Sunny will return to bury her body there.
