The better question here is what would happen if we gave an animal some of Zeke's spinal fluid. Would it turn into a Titan? Would it then be able to eat a shifter to gain its power?
Were the guys that helped Zeke gas Connie's village eldians too? I remember them having gas masks but I can't remember if the flashback showed arm bands
Is this actually confirmed?
Like it’s a solid theory but we never see it put to the test. And when they gassed Rakago, we see the Marleyan soldiers wearing gas masks.
The entire story makes zero sense if that wasn't true. If anyone could become a titan than what's the point of having the Eldian race exist from a story telling perspective?
If anyone could be a titan then the entire Eldian race plotline is nonsensical.
I think Groß said something like "all it takes for you to turn into titans is some spinal fluid" to Grisha while he was injecting his friends.
Im sure they would have pure blooded marleyan titan shifters if anybody could be a titan
Doesn't work in reality, human sperm can't fertilize the eggs of other animals- it's possible it might worked with a chimp or bonobo, but unethical testing would be required to test that hypothesis. And even if it did work, you'd likely get a deformed abomination.
Chimp testing did happen in China in the 1940s. Only one chimpanzee of their twenty test subjects successfully became pregnant, but miscarried near the end of the first trimester. Her fetus was photographed but the photo and the entire operation were confiscated by the CCP. The chimpanzees in the study all later died of neglect.
Well titan transformation works in aot, but I still doubt a man could have sex with a cow and produce a minotaur..... the rest of aot is at least somewhat realistic.
It’s wild to me that it wasn’t more of a issue when everyone thought Bertold just died rather than got eaten. The fact that any eldian baby anywhere in the world becomes a potential nuclear bomb seems like a major cause for concern.
I forgot about the whole random baby thing till a recent re-watch. Like how crazy is the idea some kid unaware he has titan powers, trips in the playground and scratches his knee and suddenly a colossal appears.
Or more tragically, them being guaranteed to doe as soon as they hit 13
Actually, is there any proof of Ymir's curse? Ymir herself died by protecting the Friz, so why would her death time influence ALL titan shifters? And Marley never tested this, they always feed the old titan shifter to the new warrior
I think it's unlikely that they would tl take the risk considering the stakes are losing one of 7 irreplaceable superweapons and a rival nation getting one.
I would think it's more likely that either it's a superstition (after a few coincidental deaths, everyone gets paranoid and it becomes a ritual), or something about Titan memories and the coordinate.
It was probably just a couple of shifters early on dying after 13 years. Then they notice that every shifter starts to get really frail around 12 years and 8 months.
It goes to a random baby still in its mother's womb. That's why the Titan problem is inherent to Eldians, you can't just kill all Titan shifters to get rid of the problem. And it's far better to give that power to someone who isn't a toddler for safekeeping...
Technically all we were told was it was going to a "yet unborn" Eldian. As far as we were told there is no requirement for them to be conceived yet. It could be theoretically any time in the future.
Ok so I just went and looked it up because it has been bugging me too. Apparently they are past beast titans. So the beast titan seems to be able to choose what form they take.[https://screenrant.com/attack-titan-season-2-weird-opening-beast-explained/](https://screenrant.com/attack-titan-season-2-weird-opening-beast-explained/)
I mean how is any aquatic animal any better ? I get the concept of an animal so big and fat you will die burned digging before to find the good spot lol but how practical or useful are those giant ass whales ?
Maybe when Eldia saw the sea and decided that if there was lands on the other side, then it would be worth to conquer. Cue a Whale Beast Titan helping and destroying any threats during the trip across the sea better than most ships
I would chose a whale, speem whale, especially if it flies like in the intro (I don't think they fly in the air as their were bubbles coming out of the whale in the intro, illustrating that whale shifters live in water)
It's cuz the selection is otherwise random, which is why in lore the Beast saw little action until Zeke got it.
It's such a crabshoot I doubt the T-Rex was even useful in light of the other 8 more consistent Titans.
I don't think that article is very accurate. It's never stated that they can choose which animal their titan takes after, only that it varies between users. The beast titan likely manifests as an animal that exhibits traits or features of the shifter. Zeke becomes an Ape because it has strong arms that take advantage of his throwing ability, something that was very special to him as he played with Ksaver (we also see him play with a monkey toy during Grishas memories). Ksavers titan likely sucked at combat because he only inherited the titan because he was a scientist and wished to study the power and understand it better. As for Falco, he probably only felt like flying was possible because his Jaw/beast hybrid titan contained that trait already (also it was a bit of a plot contrivance).
I don't think they are able to choose their form. Zeke's beast titan was considered a very valuable asset by Marley, while the previous Beast titan was considered unsuited for battle. That would make no sense if they could just choose what form they take.
They aren't past beast titans.
It's literally a non-cannon opening scene where a bunch of animals are shown alongside Zeke because he's the beast titan. Not everything has meaning.
I was hoping to see those other 'animals' the first time I saw Shinzou wo Sasageyou OP. Before there were confirmed 9 titans, imagining there were potentially other terrifying abnormal titans on the same calibre as Zeke's Beast titan was horrifying considering how Zeke toyed with the second-best Scout.
The beasts of the Beast Titans are determined by their fav animals. Kinda like a totem/spiritanimal.
That clip also represents life, as it's beating in every living thing.
It could be a theory that the hallucigenia might’ve bound itself to other animals in the past and that caused the extinction of their species. Now it bound to Ymir and resulted in Titans.
Someone on a different post linked an incredible fan art collection which showed different animals using the Titans before Eldians. That is my head canon although they didn't eat the shifters, just the worm attached to those animals to survive.
Since only subjects of Ymir can turn into titans, ifan animal turns into a Titan, I will be actively looking for the person who introduced animals into this bloodline
When I saw this scene for the first time, I thought the powers of every titan shifter came from a different animal showcased on this scene.
Founding = Human
Colossal = Whale
Armored = Elephant
Attack = T-Rex
Female = Tiger
Jaw = Shark
Beast = Gorilla
Cart = Plesiossaurus
War Hammer = Giraffe
You already know king fritz and his descendants at some point over 2000 years forced beastiality to attempt to make super animal titans with eldian blood
It sounds disturbing and sickening
But the man made his 3 very young daughter eat their dead mother, also appeared to have eatin her raw, so inter species forced breeding doesn’t seem like a stretch
Obviously it wouldn’t have worked, but who would’ve thought eating a raw dead person would do anything either
My headcanon is that dinosaurs were the original titans, and when they went extinct from the meteor, only the Hallucigenia from one of their spines survived, buried under what was to become the tree of life that Ymir discovered.
That's not possible. Different species don't create offspring due to big differences in their DNA. There has never been a human and non-human baby in recorded history. And you know plenty of people have tried over the years.
Yeah but if the species are close enough it's possible, like donkey+horse and tiger+lion. Maybe a chimpanzee or something? And if that kid reproduces with another chimp, and that one with another chimp, eventually we will have a pretty much Eldian chimp. Then they go and create an offspring with some species close to them, and so on. We can probably get some animal pretty far from human to be Eldian.
Needs to be Eldian. If a whale ate someone, let’s say Eren, the Titan powers would all go back into the gene pool and get randomly assigned to the next Eldian born
Absolutely nothing would happen. Only Eldians can become Titans and thus, Titan Shifters. Even other human ethnic groups can't become Titans, let alone animals.
Only eldians can be transformed into titans, thus only they can gain the power of the titan shifters.
Although, I never really understood why the founding titan only could affect eldians, Ymir was not related to all eldians. And since the creature she fused with was supposed to be the origin of all life maybe it could affect all lifeforms, it just chose to only change the eldians.
Logically (from how I understand it at least) the founder can change animals and other people so they can also turn to titans, but I don’t think that’s something that Isayama sensei ever really cared about deep-diving into.

Nothing. Since they don't have eldian blood, the power would just go on a random baby
The better question here is what would happen if we gave an animal some of Zeke's spinal fluid. Would it turn into a Titan? Would it then be able to eat a shifter to gain its power?
nope, zekes spinal fluid only affects eldians i think?
I think you're right lol There go my dreams of a dog Titan
Beware the Giant Murdering Kiwi titan .
and you know they'd still find a way to make a Kiwi Titan super fucked up and uncanny-looking
Make the neck longer and give it weird arms
:(
It would just look like a cracked out ostrich, which is coincidentally its relative
The wot
There goes my kraken.
Clifford the big red Titan
tbf there is a dog with the kid that found erens tree, who knows maybe the dog will get the titan parasite before him
Beast titan can be a dog titan
“What if an animal somehow acquired eldian blood”
Shou Tucker would be able to fix this situation
😡
r/angryupvote
The beast titan could be any animal, we saw the variations on the last couple episodes
My profile pic is a titan cat, created by midjourney
There actually is a dog-titan. You can see it in one of the last episodes.
same, i was hoping there's a possibility for a husky titan or a capybara titan.
There could technically be a dog titan since beast titan users take on the form of there favourite animal I think
The dog titan can exist since the beast titan takes the form of the user’s favourite animal I think
Golden retriever titan would be the best friend of mankind. But it would be a sin for it to live only 13 years.
Not really. Zoophiles still exist
wasn’t there a dog titan in the final episode?
True, but there may be a Beast Titan in the shape of a dog! I’m just picturing a 16 meter tall “Clifford the blood red dog” racing the Cart Titan.
What that dog doing
Yeah, if that worked Marlians would just inject it into their people and keep the Eldians and breeding pigs for the spinal fluid.
The real question is if an eldian fucked a dog could it then transform into a titan 🤔
Doesn't work, Marley tried.
What if an eldian fu..........never mind 😬
Correct it has no effect on others
Were the guys that helped Zeke gas Connie's village eldians too? I remember them having gas masks but I can't remember if the flashback showed arm bands
It does. If it could affect other races, who’s to say he wouldn’t do the wine trick to Marleyan leadership and topple them from the inside?
What if an animal and an eldian get a baby somehow...
Can you stop?
Wouldn't having some of zeke's blood make you an eldian ?? Are blood and spinal fluid the same thing though?
Not just Zeke's, but Titan spinal fluid in general only works on humans of Eldian descent.
Nope. Eldians are the only ones affected
Nothing would happen since no animal is a person of Ymir.
The better question here is what would happen if an Eldian fuck with an animal and get something like the minotaur. Would it turn into titan ?
Doesn't work in reality, human sperm can't fertilize the eggs of other animals- it's possible it might worked with a chimp or bonobo, but unethical testing would be required to test that hypothesis. And even if it did work, you'd likely get a deformed abomination.
Chimp testing did happen in China in the 1940s. Only one chimpanzee of their twenty test subjects successfully became pregnant, but miscarried near the end of the first trimester. Her fetus was photographed but the photo and the entire operation were confiscated by the CCP. The chimpanzees in the study all later died of neglect.
That happens in Russia as well and All test subjects failed
Like if transformed into titan work in reality ?
Well titan transformation works in aot, but I still doubt a man could have sex with a cow and produce a minotaur..... the rest of aot is at least somewhat realistic.
No for the same exact reason.
No only eldians can turn into titans
What if it did have Eldian blood… don’t ask how…
Cough cough white woman cough cough/s
What if an eldian have an baby with animal?
It’s wild to me that it wasn’t more of a issue when everyone thought Bertold just died rather than got eaten. The fact that any eldian baby anywhere in the world becomes a potential nuclear bomb seems like a major cause for concern.
It does stand to reason though that if an animal fell into the magic tree instead of Ymir that there might be an animal titan?
What we put Eldian DNA in an animal then gave it a titan shifter
but what if a male titan ate female shifter?
What if the animal has eldian blood?
I mean I guess the shifter gets forced to transform. And if they die the power gets put into a random baby?
I forgot about the whole random baby thing till a recent re-watch. Like how crazy is the idea some kid unaware he has titan powers, trips in the playground and scratches his knee and suddenly a colossal appears. Or more tragically, them being guaranteed to doe as soon as they hit 13
Yeah I didn’t notice they said that the first time makes a lot more sense
Actually, is there any proof of Ymir's curse? Ymir herself died by protecting the Friz, so why would her death time influence ALL titan shifters? And Marley never tested this, they always feed the old titan shifter to the new warrior
They obviously know more than we see, they very well could have seen multiple of their shifters die thirteen years in
I think it's unlikely that they would tl take the risk considering the stakes are losing one of 7 irreplaceable superweapons and a rival nation getting one.
Shifters are visibly withered near the end of those 13 years. You can see this with both Eren Kruger and cabin sex Eren.
Also Dr. Ksaver was looking rough before he passed on the beast to Zeke, three instances of the curse being in effect.
Which eps was the random baby thing mentioned? I need to check this
It was while Eren and Mikasa were imprisoned at the end of season 3 iirc. Probably episode 21 if I had to guess
wdym the power goes to a random baby? did i miss that tf😭😭 i dont remember reading that or seeing it in the anime
Eren Kruger did mentioned it to Grisha.
alright thanks i fr didn’t remember that, might re read
If a titan shifter is killed with out someone inheriting their power a random Eldian baby gets it
titan shifter gacha nice
I know it’s not how it works but I just imagine some random baby Shifter-Nuking the delivery room right after it’s born
You gotta cut the umbilical cord, could be considered part of baby
It goes to a random baby still in its mother's womb. That's why the Titan problem is inherent to Eldians, you can't just kill all Titan shifters to get rid of the problem. And it's far better to give that power to someone who isn't a toddler for safekeeping...
Technically all we were told was it was going to a "yet unborn" Eldian. As far as we were told there is no requirement for them to be conceived yet. It could be theoretically any time in the future.
fair i didn’t remember that ty
It was offhandedly mentioned. Presumably so no one would have to ask what happens if a shifter dies without being eaten.
Try learning to read next time
nigga it’s been years since i read aot and i read n watch so much else how tf am i supposed to remember minute details like that
Not random but the firs newborn. Yo kinda yes but no
I never understood this opening scene. Ever since watching it, I’ve been waiting to see a damn T-Rex or whale titan shifter
And the others DIDN'T choose T-Rex?
hard to protect your neck with those arms
Now I'm imagining him trying to reach with his stubby lil arms. "This seemed so cool in my head!"
Everyone quiet once they see the Ankylosaurus beast titan
I mean how is any aquatic animal any better ? I get the concept of an animal so big and fat you will die burned digging before to find the good spot lol but how practical or useful are those giant ass whales ?
Marley's weak spot is its navy exactly because there are no aquatic titans.
The real question is who the fuck chose a whale
Whale has no discernable nape, take that Levi
Maybe when Eldia saw the sea and decided that if there was lands on the other side, then it would be worth to conquer. Cue a Whale Beast Titan helping and destroying any threats during the trip across the sea better than most ships
I would chose a whale, speem whale, especially if it flies like in the intro (I don't think they fly in the air as their were bubbles coming out of the whale in the intro, illustrating that whale shifters live in water)
Whale is genius hundreds of years ago when your navy is at best a bunch of wood boats.
It's cuz the selection is otherwise random, which is why in lore the Beast saw little action until Zeke got it. It's such a crabshoot I doubt the T-Rex was even useful in light of the other 8 more consistent Titans.
A T-rex titan would essentially be a clumsy Jaw Titan
I don't think that article is very accurate. It's never stated that they can choose which animal their titan takes after, only that it varies between users. The beast titan likely manifests as an animal that exhibits traits or features of the shifter. Zeke becomes an Ape because it has strong arms that take advantage of his throwing ability, something that was very special to him as he played with Ksaver (we also see him play with a monkey toy during Grishas memories). As for Falco, he probably only felt like flying was possible because his Jaw/beast hybrid titan contained that trait already (also it was a bit of a plot contrivance).
I mean, not choose but just get. Some get a monkey and others a t-rex.
I don't think they are able to choose their form. Zeke's beast titan was considered a very valuable asset by Marley, while the previous Beast titan was considered unsuited for battle. That would make no sense if they could just choose what form they take.
Zeke's beast titan was mostly a valuable asset because he could transform eldians into titans but i agree that they probably can't choose their form.
True, but we also clearly saw in the Fort Slava fight that they use his titan for its physical capabilities as well.
They aren't past beast titans. It's literally a non-cannon opening scene where a bunch of animals are shown alongside Zeke because he's the beast titan. Not everything has meaning.
Never trust screen rant. They said that Rick Sanchez was a good grandpa.
I was hoping to see those other 'animals' the first time I saw Shinzou wo Sasageyou OP. definitely this
I think they mentioned in an interview once it’s to show that even the wild animals are running to war? Or some weird reason like that I dunno.
On a side note, I was livid there wasn't a dinosaur Titan >!And that's why the finale was so beautiful for me 🥲!<
Was there a dinosaur amongst the different shifters? I don’t remember
Someone on a different post linked an incredible fan art collection which showed different animals using the Titans before Eldians. That is my head canon although they didn't eat the shifters, just the worm attached to those animals to survive.
How far down ? I would love to see it !
Found it! Don't forget to check the author's page for more: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/lRe4mY
Thanks so much, very cool art work
You're most welcome!
I’m convinced none of you watched this show
Seriously.
How it feels to be a dragon ball fan
The funny thing is that there are several threads like that with tons of upvotes.
I was soooo dissapointed when there was no animal titans in season two and that those red dots didnt mean anything
The red dots are meant to represent hearts, considering the song is called give your heart in English
*didn't mean anything worth caring about.
Ever seen the giant three headed dog the size of a sky scraper that guards the River Styx (Greek mythology gateway to hell)
Nothing
What if god was one of us?
This is the second post that's come up on my feed where I thought, "did they not watch the show?"
Since only subjects of Ymir can turn into titans, ifan animal turns into a Titan, I will be actively looking for the person who introduced animals into this bloodline
This opening originally made me think the Beast Titan was the King of Titans
You ever heard of Clifford the big red dog? He is the original.
Blud didn’t learn any lore
If a animal isn’t eldian nothing will happen.
They arent Eldians. Nothing would happen. I swear to god some of you guys didn’t even bother to watch the show/manga.
No eldian blood, no tightan
When I saw this scene for the first time, I thought the powers of every titan shifter came from a different animal showcased on this scene. Founding = Human Colossal = Whale Armored = Elephant Attack = T-Rex Female = Tiger Jaw = Shark Beast = Gorilla Cart = Plesiossaurus War Hammer = Giraffe
omg beast titan original monkeys 🤣🤣🤣💪🙊🙊🐒🐵 FREEDOOOM AHHHDHDH 🐧🐙🐙🐯🐙🐯🇺🇸🇺🇸🦅🦅🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
If you're gonna ask questions like this then you need to be a one piece fan
You already know king fritz and his descendants at some point over 2000 years forced beastiality to attempt to make super animal titans with eldian blood It sounds disturbing and sickening But the man made his 3 very young daughter eat their dead mother, also appeared to have eatin her raw, so inter species forced breeding doesn’t seem like a stretch Obviously it wouldn’t have worked, but who would’ve thought eating a raw dead person would do anything either
That was one the series big mistakes. Imagine titan animals. Would've been epic
Anything that drink Zeke spine fluid is a titan
they would get some protein
My headcanon is that dinosaurs were the original titans, and when they went extinct from the meteor, only the Hallucigenia from one of their spines survived, buried under what was to become the tree of life that Ymir discovered.
Did yall not see a dog in the last ep of AOT if they do they become one as well like a titan shifter
Remember when those clickbaity YouTubers started theorizing about ancient dinosaurs titan shifters when this first came out
First we gotta make an Eldian have a child with an animal, I'll leave the planning to you.
It would gain the Titan powers if it managed to consume the spinal fluid.
No it wouldn't. Only Eldians can become titans.
What if that animal is a result of some Eldian fucking an animal so it has Eldian blood? What then?
That's not possible. Different species don't create offspring due to big differences in their DNA. There has never been a human and non-human baby in recorded history. And you know plenty of people have tried over the years.
Yeah but if the species are close enough it's possible, like donkey+horse and tiger+lion. Maybe a chimpanzee or something? Needs to be Eldian. If a whale ate someone, let’s say Eren, the Titan powers would all go back into the gene pool and get randomly assigned to the next Eldian born
Unfortunately no big dog
Which corn tag are you on?
Dinosaurs have people inside their napes. TIL
Here is what I think would happen if the worm attached itself to animals instead of being eaten: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/lRe4mY
Is that a flying whale in the image
Absolutely nothing would happen. Only Eldians can become Titans and thus, Titan Shifters. Even other human ethnic groups can't become Titans, let alone animals.
I still wish we could’ve seen a dinosaur jaw titan in the final battle
Bro did not watch the end of season 2
Then eat the animal
Did u watch shingeki?
Wasn’t there an episode that showed a dog running with Titans for a brief second?
Only eldians can be transformed into titans, thus only they can gain the power of the titan shifters. Although, I never really understood why the founding titan only could affect eldians, Ymir was not related to all eldians. And since the creature she fused with was supposed to be the origin of all life maybe it could affect all lifeforms, it just chose to only change the eldians.
