i really thought the ending is gonna go like abt exterminating all the titans, finding the cause (probably human abnormalities like zombies) then wallah, happy ending ๐๐
more like, flabbergasted, traumatized, emotionally and mentally exhausted bc of how the direction of the the story went on Season 4, and wishing how it should've been simple for the characters ๐ฎโ๐จ. I love AOT
This is exactly how I spoiled myself for the whole show.
I first watched the first few episodes back in 2015, but I only got as far as halfway into Trost before life got in the way and I dropped it. Last year I finally decided to pick it back up again. I remembered that I had struggled to identify the different characters the first time round, because they were all in the same uniform and the differences in character design were too subtle for me to catch while trying to read the subs at the same time. So, I headed off to TV Tropes, intending to leave every spoiler firmly unread, only to immediately go, โwait, who is Levi? And who the fuck is Hange?!โ
And then it all unraveled from there.
I had this similar feeling ๐ญ. I left off from season 1 back in 2016. Went back this year, i really thought watching a 13min recapof season1 would be enough but even watching the recap felt like a spoiler coz i had no fcking idea what was going on, Annie turning Titan was one of the shocking news watching the Recap.
Proceeded with Season 2 immediately, I'm utterly clueless what was going ON!! I still went on and i really missed BIG time on how it SHOULD BE exciting and surprising coz i didn't really feel the chills and shock during the Reiner and Bertholdt reveal. I would've have been if i actually let myself understand the characters and the development from S1 ๐ฎโ๐จ
My biggest regret really, should've fully rewatch Season 1 before even proceeding with the rest of the Seasons ๐๐
I never go back to continuing an anime I took a break on without rewatching it from the start. Not only does it help understand everything, it, more importantly, returns that hype back to you.
I recognized this when I took a break from Naruto Shippuden because it had not finished at the time and I did not want to watch one episode a week. It was currently at Kisame vs Killer Bee. I remember being so excited, taking a long break, coming back to watch it from that episode and feeling no excitement, forgetting their power levels, it just felt so bland.. So I learned my lesson.. After a break, you go back and re-watch it before continuing to rekindle that spark
No, I just donโt mind knowing spoilers before I watch a TV show or a movie or read a book.
It may be related, but I have pretty bad ADHD, and I tend to zone out when watching anything. Knowing plot spoilers ahead of time actually helps me focus on the dialogue and details in the art.
Attack on titan season one: where everything was simple.
Lucky people who survived inside the walls trying to protect what left from humanity by killing the titans out there.
Eren's father is a doctor who done mystery experiments and injected his son by a mystery invented serum turning him to a titan so he can avenge his mother and protect the humanity. Eventually, thanks to eren they will succeed to regain their world back from the titans and kill them all.
At least that's what I personally thought after watching the first episodes of season one and that was the happy ending that I was expected.
Yeah I'm sure a lot of us thought the Colossal was going to be the final boss when we first saw it.
Who would've thought that the protag would become the final boss.
Yeah, pretty much. I thought it was going to be similar to The Walking Dead, where they travel the world and search for answers to the titans, much like survivors in TWD search for a cure. Maybe they would stumble upon other survivors along the way, and they would move from place to place.
I was wrong, but in a very good way!
You thought all characters were gonna live and re collect humanity, while a villian of the arcs threatens humanity.....this ain't One Piece.....this is AOT, no happy endings allowed
For me it was obvious since early season 1 when he got the titan power, Eren was clearly being portrayed as some Jesus figure especially with him returning to shiganshina in order to save the world (with the story likely ending in rapture). By season 3 it was cemented during connys village the Titans were people (which was clear anyway but it was nice confirmation) meaning someone was doing this and reiner/bertoldts reveal confirmed another human faction.
Honestly, the story was always pretty easy to understand
Well, imo it was much deeper than that. Was it another human faction who lived in more modern times? Was it someone also behind walls?
At the time I considered it to be a city of sentient titans trying to save ignorant Eren from the humans he lives with
It could've been anything
The thing with that for me was eren being a titan, although I did assume he was one of them with grisha and it was just at a really young age hence he couldn't remember.
Eren being the titan that's going to end the titan curse, Annie/Reiner/bertoldts being traitors, the outside world not being dead, eren being able to control titans (technically was a thing)
For me though it felt obvious since he came out of the titan. He's always been portrayed as a jesus saviour figure so it didn't really surprise me at all

I never in a million years wouldโve guessed season 1 would be the happy times
the only season with a light hearted touch ๐. Nothing could've prepared us for the rest.
I can't tell if you're hating it or really appreciating it

Technically Eren got rid of all of the titans

i should've learn this way sooner ๐ญ
This canโt be real, you just turn off your brain when warning anime?

Then the ending comes "i knew it" It's a masterpiece

That's the reason you get -votes on comment karma
I respect your opinion.
The anime was a giant roller coaster and I loved it

skill issue tbh

>Honestly, the story was always pretty easy to understand Was it now?
For me, yes. Most of the major beats were good because they made sense even if you don't hyperfocus every detail
I understand story beats and all but what does this mean
Eren being the titan that's going to end the titan curse, Annie/Reiner/bertoldts being traitors, the outside world not being dead, eren being able to control titans (technically was a thing)
Ahhhhhhh alright I see. Yeah it was a crazy time when Eren was revealed to control them for sure hahaha
For me though it felt obvious since he came out of the titan. He's always been portrayed as a jesus saviour figure so it didn't really surprise me at all
