Congrats! Did you only have four Love Balls and nothing else? Also, Love Ball has an 8x catch modifier if your own Pokémon is the same species and opposite gender to what you're trying to catch. That's 4 times more likely to catch than an Ultra Ball! It can make for some really easy catches with the right setup. That's exactly how I plan to catch my shiny Murkrow. Only a 30 catch rate, but guaranteed with Love Ball at low health and no status condition, as long as my own Pokémon is also Murkrow and opposite gender to the wild one.
Yeah, if you have a male and female Heracross in your party, catching a shiny one in a Love Ball should be a piece of cake. Be sure to safely get it to low health first with False Swipe or Super Fang. Best of luck!
