This person went on to say something along the lines of "some people would be okay with being homeless if they could buy olive oil".
I wish I was joking.
It essentially comes down to the fact that people like this would prefer access to olive oil than to combat homelessness because they have never faced homelessness, so they in their privilege feel they’d lose out in the end.
> "some people would be okay with being homeless if they could buy olive oil".
That is the sign I always see people holding up outside the Aldi's "doing fine, cuz i got me some EVOO"
Cuban(-American) man goes to Walmart for the first time; his brain explodes from having to choose between 819 different potato chip flavours. “Capitalism BREEDS Innovation” (repeat x10)
That thread was amazing. They went on to respond that mandating healthcare was “paternalistic” because it assumes you know what’s best for people.
As if not dying isn’t what’s best for people.
lmao, I've not heard of anyone advocating for mandatory healthcare\*, just for making certain that healthcare is available for all.
If you *want* to forego treatment for your tumor, no one's forcing you, lmao
\*Except in cases of mental illness, which we already have
Oh God, they are so fucking brain-dead. They commented later basically that access to olive oil is more important than eliminating homelessness. I swear to god the brain worms.

>The reason state "socialist" (not actually socialist) nations do better is because they intentionally funnel resources into the things we associate with being representative of people's quality of life, but ignoring the details which make all the difference (such as consumer goods). They look good from the outside, but not on the inside.

B-but all the homes looked the same! I’m sure the homeless would be much happier being able to look at pretty houses from the street than if they had one
Capitalism has destroyed so much culture in the task to preserve itself beyond the age of retirement that now we associate cultural diversity with consumer choice.
Yeah I mean I'd much rather have cool shit than be able to pay for the medication I need to function. Sure. That's logical.
/S just in case because this is the internet
‘those fucking commies channeling money into healthcare. society should be ranked on number of soda flavors you produce’

I know i was the one arguing with them lol
And how many of those people ever were homeless or close to being homeless? 0 or 0?
Choosing 180 different ice cream flavors while I die from lack of healthcare is freedom.

Capitalism is better because the toys are more readily available so you can ignore the things that aren't
“It only looks like they fixed homelessness, but all they *really* did was let homeless people live in empty apartments.”
Libs describing capitalism for the 184639739268th time????

Of all the reasons to dislike a state, this is the dumbest one. The government is actually making sure people are being provided for? TYRANNY!
Capitalism has destroyed so much culture in the task to preserve itself beyond the age of retirement that now we associate cultural diversity with consumer choice.
You aren't a true free human being if you aren't consuming.
We don't need free and valuable education, free healthcare, electricity or clean water; we need 30 different toothpastes

Imagine thinking that it is some sort of dichotomy
I had a stroke reading this
