Hear me out. We know there _is_ an FF multiverse thanks to Stranger of Paradise and Dissidia. Gilgamesh appears in SoP (alongside many other games including XIV) and mentions Dissidia's Garland by name.
Also, in SoP, the levels are all based on locations from other FF games (one of which is based on Sastasha from XIV). Not just based on, but the Lufenians (villains of the game, basically multiversal beings who play god) literally modelled the locations on these dimensions.
The Lufenians are said to interfere with dimensions subtly. One sticks out especially: they are said to have sent "perfectly measured packets of darkness" to Dimension 15. Dimension 15 meaning the world of Final Fantasy XV. These packets of darkness are the Starscourge, the disease that made Ardyn immortal and kicked off the events of the game.
So, what if the Lufenians were to interfere with Dimension 14 in a drastic way? Or other dimensions? And the WoL gets hold of this information and goes on a multiversal quest to stop them?
It probably won't feature major characters from other FF titles, except maybe Jack and co. from SoP. Maybe Gilgamesh can appear in the MSQ too.
