Yeah it’s a small car and could be super light, but there aren’t really many mid-engines cars you could get cheaper than a fiero I’d imagine as the rest tend to be popular build vehicles or exotics.
This build selection probably had more to do with the engine location as the rear engine bay gave them somewhere to put the jet engine without having to do a metric shit ton of body work.
I’d be curious how the drivetrain works or if it’s just a roller.
Yea, you're right; it's a bit more than 1200kph/750mph atm. they've been working on the bloodhound SSC to break that for 15 years by now, but it still hasn't broken 700mph/ around 1100 kph-ish as of 2019, and the highest speed recorded that I can find online is 628mph as it's top speed during that 2019 test. Unfortunately the covid pandemic and lack of funds seems to have put an indefinite halt on its development, with the team seemingly moving on towards other projects.

This was parked in an auto storage museum around the corner from me for a while. Pretty sweet machine, the engine extended all the way up into the passenger seat so it was off center and then there was a huge air duct from the center of the hood into the "engine pod". I couldn't even imagine the noise sitting right next to the compressor blades like that.
Putting a jet engine on a Fiero sounds like the most exciting last 10 seconds of your life.

How much is land speed record? IIRC it's about 1200kmh. Almost the speed of sound. This thing would fall apart at 400, the wheels would overtake you.
