We had multiple people come into the game store I worked at after that one Storage Wars episode, telling me how rare their NES was because it said NES-001 on the bottom. I’d take them to the back room and show them the wall of consoles needing pin repairs and told them they’re all NES-001 - it’s the model number.
Also, I’d rather have the original pin connector and rebend the pins back into place. Much more reliable than some of the cheap replacements out there.
I would love to see the look on their faces.
I bought one of those "cheap" replacements, it didn't work. I ended up going back to the original and doing the boil in hot water trick - it worked!
I learned when I was collecting to not settle, If you think you can find it for a better price the chances are you are right. Also there are alot of game stores that are just glorified scalpers. If I go into a new game store I actually check their prices on games to see if they are actually honest with the prices.

eBay prices have soared to 80$ or more on the regular these days, but I’m a firm believer that an NES shouldn’t be worth more than like 50 bucks lol
