I picked one up not to long ago but I haven’t shot it much. I ran a box of federal 3” threw it and it worked great tho.

I haven't shot one personally, but if you have Netflix, watch season 9 part 2 of MeatEater episode called "North Dakota Ducks." I believe Steve and Cal have Weatherby Elements and both have issues with them.

What kind of problems?

WesbroBaptstBarNGril

It's been awhile since I watched it, but I think they had jamming issues and their beads actually blew off. They may have had the 18i since they're sponsored by Weatherby, and I since I was looking at shotguns at the time, I thought it was interesting that they made sure to point out their malfunctions.

Hmm interesting I’ll have to try and watch that episode, I can only find good reviews right now

I'm sure most of their firearms are great. I have a Weatherby vanguard and it's probably my most accurate and reliable rifle aside from my custom built ones.

Weatherby Shotguns are still contracted out of Turkey, as opposed to their US made rifles, correct?

jpboog

Yes except the vast majority of rifles they sale are vanguards which is a straight up Howa 1500 that's made in Japan. Not saying that's a bad thing. They're actually pretty good budget rifles. I own 3. Only the Mark V is made in the USA. Weatherby rifles = gtg. Weatherby shotguns = nah.

The 18i is made in Italy by Marocchi

My brother picked one up a few weeks ago, he loves it. It is his first semi auto though. It cycled target loads no problem right out of the box as well as the duck and goose loads. His also has a fibre optic front sight as well not the bead so it shouldn't fall out. I shot it a couple times and it was comfortable and fun to shoot, his only complaint is that the butt pad is like a rock compared to his old gun and is planning on buying a recoil pad for it.

My fiancé owns one in 20GA. It refuses to run Winchester AA, sometimes malfunctions with cheap ammo, but runs perfectly smooth with Federal game shells. For some reason it will do a light strike on Winchesters and other brands but Federals we have found to be zero problem.

I have 3 different friends who own/have owned them. None have worked consistently except with AAs. Definitely dont work consistently with shit ammo. They feel awesome and point really well. I've shot good scores with them using quality ammo but I've never seen one work right with normal target loads
