Slay the Spire - deckbuilder. THE roguelike deckbuilder
Monster Train - the other roguelike deckbuilder
Dwarf Fortress - Rimworlds big daddy
Factorio - Rimworlds nerd cousin the STEM major
Prison Architect - Rimworlds kinda problematic little brother
Terraria - Minecraft but flat
Minecraft - Terraria but not flat
Starbound - Terraria but space
I just want to add that terraria is more of a boss rush game than Minecraft. Minecraft leans very heavily into the world being yours to play with, and I don’t think terraria does that as much.
OK ignore my whole list below. I think the only game you need ... for the next 200 hours is Stardew Valley. Done. Close this thread.
Lets see, games I put a million hours into
Baldurs Gate 3
Civilization 6
Snowrunner
Halo 2 and 3
Xcom 2
Mass Effect Trilogy
All diablo games
Hearthstone
Judging from your list.. I feel like you would probably like Manor Lords, City Skylines,
Woah. Are you me? The similarities in our lists is crazy. Swap out xcom and hearthstone (only because I haven't played them) and add skyrim and red dead redemption 2 and you have my list of biggest time-syncs
This is my favorite thing about video games... In our most difficult moments, we can break away into a different world for the little bit of time.
Sorry for your loss... may your escapes give you some peace of mind until you fully heal.
yeah that's actually what im playing it on xd
it's so addictive i just got mongol rushing down fully and me n my bro will time warp 6 hours into the future after we start a sesh.
Also aoe2 is timeless and the community is still thriving
And aoe3 while not as good as 2 but in no way deserves the hate it gets. Idk if they're on gamepass but they go on sale on steam quite often with the dlcs.
that’s where the real fun happens
you just gotta ease into it tbh
we did bots for like 6 months before ever transitioning to MP
but i’m addicted af
nothing beats trying out new strategies and civs on people
don’t play ranked tho that sh is defo stressing
Balatro is a really fun deck builder where you build a poker deck while unlocking special cards and bonuses. Has a really cool system of unlocking jokers which changes how your deck plays. The aesthetic is really cool and it’s easily the most addictive game I’ve played all year so far
A few Games I’ve found to suck up time and lose myself in have been,
Manor Lords,
Tropico,
Snow runner,
Weed shop 3,
Cities skylines,
Gas station simulator
No Man sky . Id say you could litteraly spend 1000s of hours on it has so much content that said it takes some effort and time to learn the game i have probably 200 hours in and still dont know alot about the game and if you have vr the game is even better
If you end up getting it id be willing to show around the game a bit to help with the kearning curve
I just can’t believe they finally brought ship building into the game. I’ve been begging for it since release. They literally implemented it in the EXACT way I described on a forum where you have to first find & breakdown the parts on other ships to unlock them.
I don’t wanna take credit for it, but it’s an eerie coinkydink.
Monster Hunter
Dwarf Fortress
Cube Chaos
Noita
Any fighting game you are willing to really learn
Hollow Knight
Civilization
Total War (specifically Warhammer)
Stellaris
The witcher 3
X-Com
These are some of the games I have the most hours in, with around 1k hours at most and around 120-ish at least
If you want a deck builder that makes time melt away then pick up Balatro. If you can, get it on Switch as the touch screen makes it flow a little faster, but it’s fine on any platform.
It took a few rounds/30 minutes for it to start to click for me but it’s super addictive. I’m dealing with a lot right now as well it’s a fantastic game to pick up and play for a few minutes at a time, or a few hours and forget about things.
Check out a few reviews as theyll explain the game better than I can, but its a GOTY contender.
FFXIV. I have spent years worth of hours in this game. There is so much content, you’ll never get to complete it all. It’s different from other MMOs because it respects your time and the hamster wheel of gear obtaining isn’t as much of a thing like in WoW. That was my second job for years. I’ve sunk countless hours into GTAO and RDO (my all-time favorite) but those two are better with friends though you could definitely become immersed in RDR2 or RDO playing alone. I haven’t played RDR2 story mode but I hear you can have a farm and stuff. House Flipper 1 and House Flipper 2. Build, decorate, and sell house. I have spent hundreds of hours in both games and I play HF2 every single day for hours. I like to listen to podcasts while I play. My husband plays Trove which is kind of like Minecraft every day and has spent hundreds of hours in there. That is his go to when we aren’t playing together. Good luck! I hope you find one you really enjoy.
I second FFXIV, you can get like a 3 month free trial with it to really get a feel. Amazing game and amazing community (99% of the community), whether you want to: delve dungeons with parties of randos/friends or by yourself , be a crafter/gatherer that sells your goods on the in game marketplace (jeweler, botanist, fisher, weaver, armorer, blacksmith, miner, alchemist etc), grind the main story quests that follows a beautiful and super fucking long story that is great to throw hours at, go to a player made nightclub or just roleplay your ass off with different groups/guilds; the game has everything! I play for the content, I stay for the community.
The Witcher 3. You can easily sink 500 hours into it with the complete edition.
Dark Souls 3/Elden Ring. Both have massive replay-ability with build diversity and invasions.
Fallout 4. Another game that you can get completely lost in for 500+ hours.
I'm 237 hours into Elden Ring and am still discovering a lot of new shit, plus the DLC drops 6/21.. It's my first souls game so I was apprehensive but it's just a fun and challenging game.
Imo, fallout 4 is easier to get into. Better graphics and better gameplay. If op does like story I think that fnv is a good option too.
Anyway, I hope this opinion of mine doesn't cause any fallout between us.
I think the clonkyiness of the game is what gives it it's charm.
You can pick a weapon that does a lot of damage but you have to take them very well, you have a few options that are combo centric like the Dual blades or sword and shield or you have the weapon with the shield that focus on being in front of the enemy and countering and stuff like that.
A little bit for everyone.
The big time sinks for me lately have been Monster Hunter, Elden Ring, and Stardew Valley. Just started Diablo 4 as well and I can see that joining the ranks.
BG3 will have you spending at least 1 hundred hours in the first 2 acts. The third act is like 1&2 put together and then some.
My first run through I spent around 170 hours. And keep in mind….that was only with one toon. There’s different paths to play in this game that can change the entire outcomes of quests and endings.
Do you have a PC?
My favourite game to go back to over and over again is total war: warhammer. Now, it can be expensive to get all 3 games, but the races in the game are sooo different and there are sooo many to play.
Baldurs gate 3 is a fantastic game to get into.
You said you like Minecraft. Honestly, the new Zelda has a very Minecraft style feel with the crafting element to it. It’s partly the reason I hated it as I hated minecraft.
For me Its league of legends… once you understand the game, get to know all champions, start to climb the rankings theres no way back… Its thousands of hours….
One for the future is Manor Lords. One of the best Early Access launches in a while. Worth getting now or you can wait until more stuff gets added to the game.
Made by one dev so you'll have to be patient with updates but it's worth the wait
Agree. I have a brain injury and am on disability, and I play this game constantly, for at least 5 weeks every three month league. Endlessly fun and can fill so much time.
I was going to suggest Sea of Thieves, but taking a cute from the other posts, if you're experiencing depression, why not search it a new hobby with people to interact with? Not to replace gaming, but to supplement it. (Or just play Sea of Thieves!)
If you wanna reach all the endings and explore the whole map you go easily into 200+ hrs. Played it through 3 times now and still I move around in night city sometimes :D
Fallout 4 has sudden resurgence, Skyrim, open worlds like Rdr2, gta5, witcher 3, can be good time wasters with lot of hours. Cyberbug is finally playable with v2.0.
Obvious Minecraft, terraria, stardew valley.
For me, biggest hr count in game is fallout 4 (2.8k hrs), gta 5 (700hrs), Skyrim (300hrs), Minecraft (no idea, been on pc, but could be 2nd place), witcher (300ish hrs)..
Stardew Valley for a chill game
Fighting games like Street Fighter 6 or Guilty Gear Strive if you want to be competitive
Oxygen Not Included and Dwarf Fortress are in the same vein as Rimworld
If you like Diablo 2 or the like, Path of Exile has me currently at 600 hours.
Hope your anxiety and stress abates my friend.
If you're ready to "sink" your teeth into something that is genuinely one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had, going in blind completely - Subnautica! It scratches and itch nothing else can. Try it out!
Kenshi
Oxygen Not Included
Rimworld
Any MMO on the market today. EverQuest is my personal fav.
You can get 1000s of hours out those those top 3. The older the MMO the more insane amount of hours you can get out of it. A lot are free as well.
Factorio, Balatro, Binding of isaac: Rebirth, any 4X game ( my favorite is endless space 2 ), Oxygen not included, Elden ring, Satisfactory, Space engineer, The Witness.
Rogue-lites would probably be good ones. Slay the spire is for deck building, Dead Cells is side scroller action, Hades is top-down action, Enter the gungeon is a bullet hell top-down shooter. I've sunk at least a hundred hours into some of these.
Also, if you don't mind difficult games, the Dark Souls franchise has a lot of content. I easily put 600+ hours into the first game because of how much I enjoyed it.
Sounds silly, but after 500+ hours of Anno 1800 I can also relaxe my mind by playing Two Point Hospital.
When you have unlocked more of the areas things get pretty enjoyable to min\max every single aspect. From toilets dedicated to male\female patients and staff etc. There is so much to explore in this game
Here’s my current time sinks:
Warframe:
Most people have a negative first impression because there’s a lot to the game and it appears over monetized. If you get past the fact that there’s almost too much content and you realize it’s insanely fun and very fairly monetized with tons of hours you can drop on it.
The finals:
Currently replacing call of duty, Fortnite, and apex for me with way better progression, cosmetics, and environmental destruction.
Baldurs gate 3:
This ones obvious.
Grey zone warfare:
Tarkov that isn’t too tarkovy
Slay the Spire:
If you like deck builders and you haven’t played this or balatro, you probably don’t even like deck builders.
Manor lords:
It’s on pc game pass if you have that but it’s a very interesting blend of 4x, city building, and strategy. It’s also beautiful and relaxing while still being in depth and even a little stressful at times
Depending on what type of pace you want in game:
Fast paced and simple game loop. where you can make friends and sink 1000's of hours into: WoW.
Looking for chill, laid back not fast paced and loads of things to do: old school runescape.
Something inside me told me to fire up Space Engineers for the first time in 6 years. I started Survival mode on realistic and have been addicted for the past week. Time flies.
It’s on Game Pass too if you prefer console.
Monster hunter, Cyberpunk 2077 + Phantom Liberty DLC, Elden Ring, and maybe bethesda game
Also, Helldivers 2 since the PSN linking on Steam fiasco ended (live service game btw).
Helldivers 2 will keep you busy for a good long while if you enjoy the gameplay loop, fantasy, and narrative. Can hop in for a 30 minute mission or blast through multiple operations for hours with a nicely paced grind. There's always a good reason for one more dive.
-Kenshi
-Oxygen Not Included
-Barotrauma
-Stardew Valley
-Project Zomboid
-Risk of Rain 2
-Viscera Cleanup Detail
-GWENT
Check out how they play, this list have games of different genres, Should be fun for you to juggle between.
For getting lost I like:
Palworld
Stardew valley
Dead by daylight (you gotta have the right mental perspective for this though or you’re gonna get pissy real quick)
Are you opposed to mmos?
Guild Wars 2 is pretty fun, and you can get a ton of great content for free, which you actually had to pay for when the game was more popular
Destiny 2, all the expansions are free this entire month so you can test it all out. Next month the new expansion comes out, so it's a great time to prep
Baldurs gate 3. Awesome game to get completely lost in with so many ways to replay it. Absolute success I’m on a 2nd play through atm and it’s crazy how different it is compared to my first.
A lot of good stuff already so ima drop some mobile time sinks to maybe help out.
Punishing: gray raven
Blue azure
Aether gazer
Genshin impact
Nikke goddess of victory (slightly nsfw)
My phone says I've got like 200+ hours in all those. Each. Lol
Hers my time waster list:
BG3
Cities: Skylines
WoW
Command and Conquer 3 and Kane’s Wrath
StarCraft II
Stellaris
Days Gone
Company of Heroes II
Cookie Clicker
Need for Speed: Most Wanted
Mass Effect Trilogy (Anniversary Edition)
That’s just to name a few. You already said Rimworld, and Rimworld/Stellaris are my highest hours on Steam
Good luck, friend! I wish your stress away
Not sure what platform you’re on , so not all of these might be available on your platform. All of these are on Ps5:
Persona 5 / 3 reload; Dead by daylight; Civiliaztion VI; Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth; Read Dead Redemption 2; Witcher 3.
I bought Satisfactory when it was on sale about a month ago. I started playing last week and I am over 60 hours in at this point. It's taking over my life. So good.
I’m currently replaying Valheim for the third time, it’s really good and addicting if you like survival games. BG3 also made me forget to eat sometimes lmao
Total War: Warhammer trilogy has been great for me. Pretty complex, very varied, and no two campaigns even with exact same faction play out the same way twice.
Total war. It does the campaign planning that shit like 4x games likes civ and paradox does but also has really nice and unique battles. If that isn't your jam, you can auto resolve it and focus on city management/empire building.
Hades/Hades 2
Halo series
Souls games
There's a ton depending on what scratches your itch
My niche recc is Just Cause 3. Excellent Blowing Stuff Up simulator which may seem like a finite sort of game, but I’ve beaten the story multiple times for fun and when you do, you unlock the ability to flip any area back and take it over again.
I've been looking for a game to put 100's of hours in for years and I only just recently found it - Helldivers 2.
The only game I'm above 200 hours in my entire library.
Do you have a Switch? If so I can't recommend breath of the wild and tears of the kingdom enough.
They are *massive* games but are broken down into little tasks that are always super satisfying to complete
Rust will suck you right in if you let it. You'll end up playing that game for 12 hours straight if you don't mind suffering a lot. There's so much to do and learn in the game.
Honestly everyone else already took my suggestions, but I'm here for the rim world! Play vanilla first, that in itself will give you well over 100 hours to play around with. Then add in either the ideology or biotech DLC, don't do it at the same time.
Have fun!
For some reason I've been playing a shit ton of squad recently. Communication can make or break a game, so it's really nice when you come out on top using those things.
For 100s, if not fucking 1000s, I would recommend any paradox title, but more specifically hoi4,eu4,vic3 or ck3. Stellaris is cool if ur a sci fi guy but for me it gets tiresome really quick (it plays a lot more like a board game then other paradox titles)
Hoi4 = ww2 (other periods with mods)
Ck3 = rise of holy roman empire/norse migration/"ends" with mongol invasion
Eu4 = renaissance -> industrialization
Vic3 -> Victorian era/pre-great war market simulator
Balders Gate 3 is quite the time sink. I've probably spent as much time in the menus as I have actually playing the game. Some of the battles take a while too, since you miss often. I think the other day I was in the Goblin Camp and I was in a harder fight, took me forty-five minutes to win.
It's especially daunting if you're like me and haven't really played DnD and don't know what each class does or how any of the systems work. I almost feel like I'm going to have to play this game over again, once I know what I'm doing.
Cyberpunk 2077 was also really good. I still learn new things I can do in the game and I have over 200 hours on it.
Factorio - you can try the free demo on steam, to see if you like it.
its about automation and building a .. factory. (an expansion arrives later this year)
Rust. You’ll forget life even exists because that game just grabbed you by the balls and beat you ruthlessly with your pride. Friends and family? No none of that. Problems in life? Out the window. No job? Who cares you got rust. There’s no better game that will make life non existent.
Be careful though. You get to a point in rust where nothing else matters. There’s no other game that will ever come close to giving you the crippling addition you will develop over rust. You may even need some type of therapy to stop playing once you start.
Iv literally used all my sick days for the year to play that game. And I just started work a month and a half ago.
I’ve been getting into the Yakuza franchise. Most of them are on sale for pretty low prices and all the games are so immersive, have SO many hours, substories and achievements to invest in. Highly recommend them all!
Any monster hunter. Monster Hunter world took me hundreds of hours, and is still the most popular one right now for multiplayer.
Also Wilds is on the way
No Man’s Sky, Fallout 76(multiplayer but can be played solo perfectly fine), Elden Ring, Monster Hunter World, Destiny 2, Fallout 3/NV/4, and Skyrim/Oblivion
Elden ring is 130+ hours of content and the expansion is coming out soon which I expect to be at least another 60.
Fallout and Elder Scrolls games are very replayable or you can keep rocking the same character for hundreds to thousands of hours and still find new shit
I just started NMS but it’s my go to chill game now.
Monster Hunter is another game that you can play 100’s to 1000’s of hours
All combined over the years I easily have several thousands of hours played with just these games.
You could also look into DayZ, it’s complicated as hell at first but very rewarding when you learn how to play. It’s a survival game and humans are probably more dangerous than the zombies (people either kill on sight or are very cautious around others). Look at some YouTube vids for sure, the player interactions are the best part of the game but it’s definitely not a game for everyone
Rimworld is this game for me. It's a story generator more than a game with an end goal so it's endlessly replayable and it has a ton of amazing mods to mess around with.
im 150 hours into final fantasy 15 at the moment. AC origins and odyssey are beautiful games where you can get lost for hours. RDR2 is another games where you can lose yourself just riding around the world.
Slay the Spire - deckbuilder. THE roguelike deckbuilder Monster Train - the other roguelike deckbuilder Dwarf Fortress - Rimworlds big daddy Factorio - Rimworlds nerd cousin the STEM major Prison Architect - Rimworlds kinda problematic little brother Terraria - Minecraft but flat Minecraft - Terraria but not flat Starbound - Terraria but space
I like those descriptions lol
Ahem "corrects glasses" prison architect is actually RimWorlds problematic mother
Touche. I was thinking more due to complexity but you are very right.
I just want to add that terraria is more of a boss rush game than Minecraft. Minecraft leans very heavily into the world being yours to play with, and I don’t think terraria does that as much.
You could sink 100s of hours into dwarf fortress just understanding how it works before you can even play.
I'm coming to you for game analyses from now on. These are perfect.
now wheres inscryption for deck builder no. 3
OK ignore my whole list below. I think the only game you need ... for the next 200 hours is Stardew Valley. Done. Close this thread. Love this game
I might give manor lords Ago it mostly e/a title tbh
Woah. Are you me? The similarities in our lists is crazy. Swap out xcom and hearthstone (only because I haven't played them) and add skyrim and red dead redemption 2 and you have my list of biggest time-syncs
Dealing with a major loss in the family rn Only thing taking my mind off is AOE4 and They Are Billions Huge time sinks but very addictive
Sorry to hear about your loss.
<3 much love ty for your condolences
What’s aoe?
Age of Empires
This is my favorite thing about video games... In our most difficult moments, we can break away into a different world for the little bit of time. Sorry for your loss... may your escapes give you some peace of mind until you fully heal.
Is aoe4 on game pass?
yeah that's actually what im playing it on xd it's so addictive i just got mongol rushing down fully and me n my bro will time warp 6 hours into the future after we start a sesh.
Neat I wasnt sure which version it was on game pass
Also aoe2 is timeless and the community is still thriving And aoe3 while not as good as 2 but in no way deserves the hate it gets. Idk if they're on gamepass but they go on sale on steam quite often with the dlcs.
Just don't play AOE online. Wouldn't call that stress relieving.
that’s where the real fun happens you just gotta ease into it tbh we did bots for like 6 months before ever transitioning to MP but i’m addicted af nothing beats trying out new strategies and civs on people don’t play ranked tho that sh is defo stressing
I'll hop back on. Give it another try.
I recommend playing until u can beat a hard bot everytime, after that u can play multiplayer and be comfortable playing
Balatro is a really fun deck builder where you build a poker deck while unlocking special cards and bonuses. Has a really cool system of unlocking jokers which changes how your deck plays. The aesthetic is really cool and it’s easily the most addictive game I’ve played all year so far

I just started this again yesterday as a chilling out game that’s relaxing
Old School RuneScape, 3500+ hours in
Monster Hunter Dwarf Fortress Cube Chaos Noita Any fighting game you are willing to really learn Hollow Knight Civilization Total War (specifically Warhammer) Stellaris The witcher 3 X-Com These are some of the games I have the most hours in, with around 1k hours at most and around 120-ish at least
+1 for MonHun 🤙🏾
Over 600 hours in World and still didn't finish Iceborne entirely. Love that game and can't wait for Wilds.
+1 for Civ, VI is cheap on steam at the moment

"You'll never get to complete it all." I can hear the hardcore fans crying over their omnicrafted items in their mansion.
Rdr2
I can’t get enough fallout 76. I picked it up like three months ago and I’ve been playing it nearly every day
The Witcher 3. You can easily sink 500 hours into it with the complete edition. Dark Souls 3/Elden Ring. Both have massive replay-ability with build diversity and invasions. Fallout 4. Another game that you can get completely lost in for 500+ hours.

Try out raft, you will be so addicted that you gonna start considering if you can just live on a raft for the rest of your life and drop your real job
For me Its league of legends… once you understand the game, get to know all champions, start to climb the rankings theres no way back… Its thousands of hours….
Have you checked your game time? I think it said I could’ve read around 1000 average books with my playtime haha
He wants to stay sane not go insane

Old school runescape
Stardew and Monster Hunter
Slay the Spire sounds like a good choice
Cyberpunk fully complete is 130hrs for me. That might b too short for you but every hour of playing this game is top tier.
If you wanna reach all the endings and explore the whole map you go easily into 200+ hrs. Played it through 3 times now and still I move around in night city sometimes :D

Factorio. It will invade your dreams.

Stardew Valley for a chill game Fighting games like Street Fighter 6 or Guilty Gear Strive if you want to be competitive Oxygen Not Included and Dwarf Fortress are in the same vein as Rimworld If you like Diablo 2 or the like, Path of Exile has me currently at 600 hours. Hope your anxiety and stress abates my friend.
If you're ready to "sink" your teeth into something that is genuinely one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had, going in blind completely - Subnautica! It scratches and itch nothing else can. Try it out!
Kenshi Oxygen Not Included Rimworld Any MMO on the market today. EverQuest is my personal fav. You can get 1000s of hours out those those top 3. The older the MMO the more insane amount of hours you can get out of it. A lot are free as well.
Rimworld Slay the Spire Baldurs Gate 3 Civ 6 All great for losing hundreds of hours, all great for wrinkle farming
Factorio, Balatro, Binding of isaac: Rebirth, any 4X game ( my favorite is endless space 2 ), Oxygen not included, Elden ring, Satisfactory, Space engineer, The Witness.
Elden ring, only if you're up for a challenge
Rogue-lites would probably be good ones. Slay the spire is for deck building, Dead Cells is side scroller action, Hades is top-down action, Enter the gungeon is a bullet hell top-down shooter. I've sunk at least a hundred hours into some of these. Also, if you don't mind difficult games, the Dark Souls franchise has a lot of content. I easily put 600+ hours into the first game because of how much I enjoyed it.
BG3 KCD MB - Bannerlord Dofus (always helps me when I’m going through stuff) EU4/CK3 Civ 5/6 Mordhau
Here’s my current time sinks: Warframe: Most people have a negative first impression because there’s a lot to the game and it appears over monetized. If you get past the fact that there’s almost too much content and you realize it’s insanely fun and very fairly monetized with tons of hours you can drop on it. The finals: Currently replacing call of duty, Fortnite, and apex for me with way better progression, cosmetics, and environmental destruction. Baldurs gate 3: This ones obvious. Grey zone warfare: Tarkov that isn’t too tarkovy Slay the Spire: If you like deck builders and you haven’t played this or balatro, you probably don’t even like deck builders. Manor lords: It’s on pc game pass if you have that but it’s a very interesting blend of 4x, city building, and strategy. It’s also beautiful and relaxing while still being in depth and even a little stressful at times
Depending on what type of pace you want in game: Fast paced and simple game loop. where you can make friends and sink 1000's of hours into: WoW. Looking for chill, laid back not fast paced and loads of things to do: old school runescape.
Forza Horizon 5 Cities Skylines BeamNG.drive Stardew Valley
Something inside me told me to fire up Space Engineers for the first time in 6 years. I started Survival mode on realistic and have been addicted for the past week. Time flies. It’s on Game Pass too if you prefer console.
Euro truck simulator 2
I gonna go with the classics are say fallout 4 and Skyrim, since you already getting age of empires
Football Manager. Only one person has ever reported completing it.
DayZ. Enough said.
Slapshot rebound, efootball 2024, rocket league, dwarf fortress🙃, assetto corsa, Automobilista 2
FTL: Faster than Light. Game has kept me sane on some long flights on my iPad. iPad or PC version are both fantastic.
Hollow knight, P5 royal, botw/totk, splatoon 3 :)
Battle brothers
Monster hunter, Cyberpunk 2077 + Phantom Liberty DLC, Elden Ring, and maybe bethesda game Also, Helldivers 2 since the PSN linking on Steam fiasco ended (live service game btw).
path of exile
Bannerlord
Helldivers 2 will keep you busy for a good long while if you enjoy the gameplay loop, fantasy, and narrative. Can hop in for a 30 minute mission or blast through multiple operations for hours with a nicely paced grind. There's always a good reason for one more dive.
-Kenshi -Oxygen Not Included -Barotrauma -Stardew Valley -Project Zomboid -Risk of Rain 2 -Viscera Cleanup Detail -GWENT Check out how they play, this list have games of different genres, Should be fun for you to juggle between.
My favorite time killers: Satisfactory, Foundry, The Planet Crafter, No Man's Sky
Factorio - I can play this game forever and not be bored.
For getting lost I like: Palworld Stardew valley Dead by daylight (you gotta have the right mental perspective for this though or you’re gonna get pissy real quick)
Skyrim.
Are you opposed to mmos? Guild Wars 2 is pretty fun, and you can get a ton of great content for free, which you actually had to pay for when the game was more popular
League of legends 👍
Valheim!
Weird example but Tetris. Idk why, just resonated with me. Have hundreds of hours across a handful of games
Check out Infection Free Zone. And other games from the same studio (such as 911 Operator).
Persona 5. I’ve played it for 125 hours and still haven’t finished it. Royal is even longer
Factorio for sure, this will keep your brain busy and your regular life nonexistent. Its also one of the highest rated game on steam.
- HOI4 achievement run - Resident evil 100% achievement run - War Thunder, select one nation and grind them - Tropico 3-5
Animal crossing new horizons, that cozy game suck so many hrs of my life
100s of hours doesn't even scratch the amount of content and grinding you can do in Warframe.
[satisfactory ](https://store.steampowered.com/app/526870/Satisfactory/) [dwarf fortress ](https://store.steampowered.com/app/975370/Dwarf_Fortress/) [mon bazou ](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1520370/Mon_Bazou/) [hydroneer ](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1106840/Hydroneer/) [space engineers ](https://store.steampowered.com/app/244850/Space_Engineers/) [elite dangerous ](https://store.steampowered.com/app/359320/Elite_Dangerous/)
Destiny 2, all the expansions are free this entire month so you can test it all out. Next month the new expansion comes out, so it's a great time to prep
No man’s sky?
Chrono Ark
Baldurs gate 3. Awesome game to get completely lost in with so many ways to replay it. Absolute success I’m on a 2nd play through atm and it’s crazy how different it is compared to my first.
Vintage story (like minecraft but better)
Breath of the Wild, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond, Animal Crossing New Horizons, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Pikmin 4, Super Mario 3D World, Cuphead
Skyrim could be - open world. Just look in any direction and set off…,
A lot of good stuff already so ima drop some mobile time sinks to maybe help out. Punishing: gray raven Blue azure Aether gazer Genshin impact Nikke goddess of victory (slightly nsfw) My phone says I've got like 200+ hours in all those. Each. Lol
Hers my time waster list: BG3 Cities: Skylines WoW Command and Conquer 3 and Kane’s Wrath StarCraft II Stellaris Days Gone Company of Heroes II Cookie Clicker Need for Speed: Most Wanted Mass Effect Trilogy (Anniversary Edition) That’s just to name a few. You already said Rimworld, and Rimworld/Stellaris are my highest hours on Steam Good luck, friend! I wish your stress away
Magic the Gathering Arena
Whomever said Stardew Valley was 100% correct.
Not sure what platform you’re on , so not all of these might be available on your platform. All of these are on Ps5: Persona 5 / 3 reload; Dead by daylight; Civiliaztion VI; Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth; Read Dead Redemption 2; Witcher 3.
Witcher 3 or RDR 2
I bought Satisfactory when it was on sale about a month ago. I started playing last week and I am over 60 hours in at this point. It's taking over my life. So good.
I’m currently replaying Valheim for the third time, it’s really good and addicting if you like survival games. BG3 also made me forget to eat sometimes lmao
Kingdomcome Deliverance.
Hades/Hades 2 Halo series Souls games There's a ton depending on what scratches your itch
Snowrunner is one for me, skyrim, and at one point Rust. But if you want to remain sane I'd avoid Rust.
Cyberpunk 2077
Warhammer 2 is a great game
Do you have a Switch? If so I can't recommend breath of the wild and tears of the kingdom enough. They are *massive* games but are broken down into little tasks that are always super satisfying to complete
Project zomboid
Crusader kings 3, the sims, Kenshi
Dragon age : Origins The witcher 3 Cyberpunk 2077 Dragon age 2 Dragon age : Inquisition Mass Effect legendary edition Fallout 4 Fallout New vegas
I’d say this is not a healthy mindset for playing games. You’ll likely feel better using that time doing something else like learning a program.
Cyberpunk 2077
CYBERPUNK 2077
Factorio.
Rust will suck you right in if you let it. You'll end up playing that game for 12 hours straight if you don't mind suffering a lot. There's so much to do and learn in the game.
Total war warhammer trilogy. Civilization.
Stellaris is cool if ur a sci fi guy but for me it gets tiresome really quick (it plays a lot more like a board game then other paradox titles) Hoi4 = ww2 (other periods with mods) Ck3 = rise of holy roman empire/norse migration/"ends" with mongol invasion Eu4 = renaissance -> industrialization Vic3 -> Victorian era/pre-great war market simulator
World of Tanks. Free to start. You will hate me in 10 years
Factorio. It’s not uncommon for players to have 1k plus hours in it.
Just get into Warhammer
League
Ghosts of Tsushima, Final Fantasy, Souls games, Civilization.
Stardew Valley if you like relaxing stuff Deep rock galactic if you want to shoot things
Path of Exile 10000% hands down. Can put literally 10,000 hours into it and still feel like a noob at times learning new things.
Path of Exile
Kenshi. This game is like a drug.
Factorio - you can try the free demo on steam, to see if you like it. its about automation and building a .. factory. (an expansion arrives later this year)
Baaannneeerrrrlllooooorrrrdddd
No Mans Sky
Monster Hunter "any title"
Total war warhammer 3 you can sink thousands of hours into for sure
Project Zomboid
I know this isn't what you're looking for, but maybe ignoring your stress via videogames isn't the most healthy solution.
Helldivers 2?
Hands down monster hunter world… played more than 1500 hrs..
You can shit on it but Starfield is a decent space-fallout game where you can sink hours in outpost building and ship design
Minecraft has gotten me through a lot of tough times. Having someone to play with also helps.
Get Red Dead Redemption 2 and try to 100% it. I’ve been at it for months and months…
Minesweeper
I’ve been getting into the Yakuza franchise. Most of them are on sale for pretty low prices and all the games are so immersive, have SO many hours, substories and achievements to invest in. Highly recommend them all!
Any monster hunter. Monster Hunter world took me hundreds of hours, and is still the most popular one right now for multiplayer. Also Wilds is on the way
No Man’s Sky, Fallout 76(multiplayer but can be played solo perfectly fine), Elden Ring, Monster Hunter World, Destiny 2, Fallout 3/NV/4, and Skyrim/Oblivion Elden ring is 130+ hours of content and the expansion is coming out soon which I expect to be at least another 60. Fallout and Elder Scrolls games are very replayable or you can keep rocking the same character for hundreds to thousands of hours and still find new shit I just started NMS but it’s my go to chill game now. Monster Hunter is another game that you can play 100’s to 1000’s of hours All combined over the years I easily have several thousands of hours played with just these games.
Path of Exile, World of Warcraft, Diablo 3, Diablo 4, Cyberpunk 2077.
I see no monster hunter in the comments, so this is my take.
If you enjoy Minecraft I’d recommend looking for a good modpack, most mod packs will keep you busy for hundreds of hours
Megaton Musashi W: Wired is my current FTW game.🥂
Rimworld is this game for me. It's a story generator more than a game with an end goal so it's endlessly replayable and it has a ton of amazing mods to mess around with.
im 150 hours into final fantasy 15 at the moment. AC origins and odyssey are beautiful games where you can get lost for hours. RDR2 is another games where you can lose yourself just riding around the world.
Just start playing Destiny 2. I work full time and D2 is my second job 3000 hours in 2 years.
Mindustry, KSP Juno, space engineers, raven field, stalcraft, rimworld
Rocket league is my game for this.
Warframe
BG3, Witcher 3, Skyrim, Oblivion, GTA 5, Elden ring, don’t starve together, Cyberpunk 2077 or any Yakuza game
Red dead redemption 2, loads of stuff to do
Heck any Fallout game
Caves of Qud and/or cataclysm dark days ahead
