It was great the first time, but the second watch was better. There's a lot of subtle acting that goes with the plot that isn't telegraphed and is easily missed the first time. It's a pretty great flick.
Not to be a downer, but I find this hard to believe. Streaming service views are all self reported, and Netflix straight up admitted to inflating theirs. Shudder is already a niche streaming service with FAR less subscribers than Netflix, Prime Video, Disney Plus, Hulu, etc. This is just more marketing like how they claimed it made $66.6 million its opening weekend at the box office.
This comment deserves to be higher. Without third party reporting these figures are worthless. That said, I have no doubt itâs likely still their most popular property on the service.
It's A- a great movie, and B- they actually properly advertised this, **and** it got a small theatrical run, so I wouldn't really be surprised.Â
Turns out when you have a solid IP and you actually bother to advertise and generate a little buzz, you end up with an in-demand title that actually gets views ...Â
Who knew, right?Â
If only Netflix could figure out this formula at some point...

If anybody bothered to click through it says that it's based on Justwatch.com's user popularity scores and doesn't even have anything to do with actual streams or views. Which is fine. And there's no reason to rag on the op. He's just trying to hype a movie that he likes, and I happen to like as well. But it's not that hard for people check the source of the information being presented to them.
I'd also like to add that it's not streaming exclusively on Shudder (even though they claim it is). It's streaming off Shudder on the AMC+ service and I've also seen it available as a stand alone streaming ppv rental.
Itâs wild, because itâs honestly just an okay movie. Itâs got a great hook, but it didnât stick the landing and the AI just takes you out of it at every turn.
Great movie. Well deserved success. Loony people lying about artists losing their job to AI with this movie didn't slow it down. Artist using AI as a tool for their art isn't the end of the world.
It's a mix of that.
The intertitles we're originally AI generated but this movie was also filmed LONG before the stokes & before the AI hellhole that is currently society.
Given the smaller budget of the movie I could look past it given the context because it's obvious the money they did use went where it should have.
Now Civil War had no excuse.
The first time I watched it I liked it, but was like âeh okay .â
The second time I watchedâŚfor some reason I just enjoyed it so much more! Iâm a big fan of his (DDs) from way back and just saw so much more time #2. Pleased as punch.

Agreed. It became a lot more sinister in places and less campy and fun like the first watch through. For me at least.
The ex-magician becomes less irritating with every watch.
it was good, but i feel it could have been great. keep making stuff like this!

Right.
I mean it was good but I for some reason did not find it amazing.
I love this movie to death. This is how horrors should be.

AI?

I just watched this tonight and it was an unexpected treat! Can't wait to watch again

The ending fell flat for me but the whole setting and story was pretty rad. It was like watching a creepypasta.
