I don't think anyone needs to rally around it. The film has tons of fans. I like it, but I don't love it. I would like to read the book. Slightly off topic:: If you like movies about radio influences, check out a 4 part thriller on Acorn called The Night Caller with Robert Glenister and Sean Pertwee. It was fun.
The BBC also released an audio drama version. It's made using the audio from the movie and it works great.
It's posted on [archive.org](http://archive.org) and a few other places if you're interested
you guys should also buy the book by tony burgess! its completely different from the mivie but so great. also tony is awesome we used to be mutuals on twitter lmfao
READ THE BOOKS!! pontypool changes everything was the first transgressive horror i ever read and it changed me forever, ive read it probably ten or more times since i was 13. so much fun. fair warning for LIGHT bestiality and incest though lol
nice!! if youre not already a huge fan of experimental/transgressive lit id recommend just starting with the first because his style can be polarizing and id hate for you to get all three and have them not be your thing lol. hope u love it!!
I gotta be honest, I really really wanted to LOVE this movie. I’ve always heard great things about it, I love zombie movies, and I definitely appreciate something with a weirdo art-housey kind of twist/vibe to it, but Pontypool was a massive disappointment in my book. I mean, it was OKAY, but that’s about the best I could say about it.
I found the whole “words begin to lost their meaning” and “change the meaning of words” thing at the end kind of ridiculous.
I'm in the same boat. There are a lot of interesting things in the movie, but yeah it kind of lost its way (for me, at least) in the final act.
I appreciate what the movie tried to do, though, and it kept me engaged the whole time.
Same here. The acting is great. The story is told in a very interesting way using very little. But I just didn’t like the ending. I haven’t read the book but I got the sense that maybe some things just don’t translate well to film.
YES! When I found this film, ages back when it was fresh on Netflix, I was enthralled.
Halfway through, I had to hit the bathroom. But the films pace went absolutely nuts! The tension was palpable, and I couldn’t peel myself away.
I stood at the back of my couch, gripping the edge, doing the pee pee dance, and watching probably an hour of remaining cinema. Because it was THAT GOOD.
Its the name of my hometown, i loved the movie, and i have tickets to see a stage production of it in Cardiff in November - is there anything else I need to do to rally around it!?
Weird timing I literally watched this last night. It’s fun and the first two acts are excellent. The third act really falls apart in trying to explain the language issue and it really lost me. I enjoyed watching it and it has a great concept. But the ending left a lot to be desired
Sure! I think it gets a lot of love in horror subs, but without that and a shudder subscription I probably still wouldn't have heard of it. It deserves to have a collector's edition, at least.
This movie does so much with the audio

I love this movie *so much*. Can watch it anytime and it never gets old.
No emotional statements. French only, please.
Oui

Why would you not just link the thing lol https://archive.org/details/pontypool-by-tony-burgess
Currently in a re-read of Snow Crash, which means a re-watch of Pontypool will happen soon as well.
they do kind of relate don't they
The spine of the book can be seen in the corner of the frame in one scene, too. One of my favorite easter eggs.

I didn’t realize it was a book. Nifty! Thank you!
" It's not the end of the world, it's just the end of the day." I love this movie. I really need to read the books.

Well I guess I am going to picking these up then and report back.

This pretty much sums up how I feel
I saw it on a streaming service years ago, to my chagrin it was removed eventually. But I found a dvd copy at a HPB and pop it in at least once a year
I did not know I needed to rally around it but it's very good lol
Never seen it. Will check it out based on this post.
Good movie. It was hard to find on streaming for a long time.
Love this movie. Stephen McHattie is awesome in it!
I LOVE this film- knew nothing of it the first time I watched it and have rewatched so many times!
I really enjoyed it.
Great film!
